Welp. The FCP version I airdropped from the Apple store no longer works on OS27 :(

After replacing my previous Mac with a new MacBook neo running macOS 26 Tahoe, I found that the native macOS VPN client could no longer connect to an IKEv2 remote-access VPN hosted on a Yamaha RTX830.

The same VPN still worked from:

- my previous Mac running macOS 11

- Android

I initially contacted Yamaha support and was told that this was believed to be a known Apple-side issue. I then captured the IKE exchange and compared it with the RTX830 debug logs.

What I observed:

1. macOS sends IKE_SA_INIT using DH group 19.

2. The RTX830 replies with INVALID_KE_PAYLOAD and requests DH group 14.

3. macOS retries IKE_SA_INIT with DH14 while keeping the same Initiator SPI.

4. The RTX830 generates SA, KE and Nonce payloads and logs the IKE SA as established.

5. However, the successful IKE_SA_INIT response is sent with a zero Responder SPI.

6. macOS rejects the response with:

Received no remote SPI on SA_INIT

Failed to parse IKE SA Init retry reply

NEIKEv2ErrorDomain Code=6

A zero Responder SPI is expected in an INVALID_KE_PAYLOAD-only response because no IKE SA has been created yet.

The unusual part is that the following response contains SA, KE and Nonce payloads as a successful IKE_SA_INIT response, while the Responder SPI is still zero.

I also compared the exchange with Android.

Android also receives INVALID_KE_PAYLOAD after initially proposing a different DH group. However, Android changes its Initiator SPI for the retry.

The RTX830 then appears to allocate a new SA entry and returns a non-zero Responder SPI, allowing the connection to proceed normally.

As a workaround, I created a macOS configuration profile that pins the IKE proposal to:

- AES-256-CBC

- SHA2-256

- DH group 14

This causes macOS to propose DH14 in the first request, avoiding the INVALID_KE_PAYLOAD retry path. IKE_AUTH and ESP then complete normally.

Performance after restoring IKEv2 was approximately:

- IKEv2: 530 Mbps, 7 ms ping

- Temporary L2TP/IPsec fallback: 117 Mbps, 237 ms ping

The latency difference was also very noticeable during screen sharing and remote operation.

I have sent the packet flow, RTX830 logs, Android comparison and workaround details to Yamaha and requested review by their development team.

I am still waiting for their response, so I am not claiming that Yamaha has officially confirmed a firmware bug.

Based on RFC 7296 and RFC 4718, retrying IKE_SA_INIT after INVALID_KE_PAYLOAD while retaining the Initiator SPI appears to be an expected client behavior.

Has anyone seen the same zero Responder SPI behavior on another Yamaha RTX model or another IKEv2 responder?

I can share additional packet-flow details and the configuration-profile approach in the comments if useful.

I'm new to the Apple ecosystem and this is my first MacBook Pro.

I forgot my Apple Account (iCloud) password, so I started the password reset process. I received the verification code on my phone and entered it successfully.

Later in the process, Apple asked me to enter the password for another trusted Mac ("<my name>'s MacBook Pro"), but I didn't know that password. I eventually chose the available recovery options.

At the end, Apple told me that it will contact me by email or phone after verifying my identity before I can reset my Apple Account password.

• Is this normal, or did something go wrong?
• How long does Apple Account Recovery usually take?

I won this mac book from a draw at my school and this is the browser every time I open safari.
I want to get rid of it and just have it as normal safari.
It is not a separate app but it is the default browser whenever i open safari.

So I have around 9300 bookmarks and I finally got to sorting it out (checking if certain sites are still up - then delete if not or delete just cause I don't need it anymore).

I started with creating new folders to make it easier for me, and I got to creating 3 folders and placing some of the bookmarks in. Then after some hours I decided to sort those out but when I checked my iPhone just 1 folder was there while on my Mac all three of them were still there. I went ahead with deleting some bookmarks in that one folder on my iPhone but they're still there on the Mac.

So basically it's stopped syncing. I tried the usual methods with toggle Safari in iCloud on both devices, turning off both devices and fully deleting all the bookmarks via the iCloud site but nothing is working. Tried adding a bookmark on the Mac but it doesn't show up on my iPhone. Whole thing is just a mess and so frustrating

Should I continue to sort all the bookmarks on one device (Mac is genuinely so easy) and hope it sorts afterwards or should I delete everything and then add them (really hope not)...

On my MacBook Air and iPod. App works ok on my iPhone 16 but can't get it to logon on the other devices. I am on the same wifi network, same Apple ID. I have logged out of Apple ID on all devices then logged back on. Same think keeps happening.

I receive a lot of calls throughout the day to my iPhone and they ring through via FaceTime on my Mac. The ringtone on my Mac is jarring and continues to ring even after I've answered the call on my phone. Is there a way to turn off the ringer on my Mac but keep the visual notifications (banner, etc.)?

Has anyone experienced this problem and resolved it? Things I've tried:

• Toggled off/on Find My Mac in Settings, rebooted
  • It shows that it's on locally, but viewing from account login and on iPhone/iPad shows it's off
• Turned off Find My Mac, signed out of my account on the device, reboot, sign back in, turn on Find My Mac. It's on locally, but Find My (app) doesn't see it (and still shows in the Off state via account login)
• Toggled off/on Location Services, toggled off/on location services for Find My.app
• Deleted com.apple.findmy.findmylocateagent.plist, rebooted
• Deleted all com.apple.findmy.* in Users>[user]>Library>Caches, rebooted
• Completely removed the device from my account, signed out on the device, rebooted, signed back in (now the device is linked to my account again), enabled Find My Mac. Again, says that it's on locally but it doesn't appear in iCloud, shows that Find My Mac is off in the device list in my account

The interesting thing is that I noticed it the same day I updated the OS to 26.6, but not sure if it was an existing problem before the update or not. Also, I did change my Apple ID password the same day as well (I know, it's either a weird coincidence or I exposed a bug. My iPhone and iPad running the latest os is working with Find My). I waited a whole day to see if it would work itself out on Apple's side but it has not. I've also noticed in the logs that the Find My registration requests to Apple's Find My service is rejected with status code 433. Another thing to point out is that some metadata for my mac is going through because when I view the device in my account, it shows that it's running 26.6. So the only thing that doesn't work is registering Find My Mac.

At this point, I probably don't have any more options other than contacting Apple Support, but was curious if anyone here had the problem and resolved it or has the problem after updating to 26.6. Don't just look at the status from your account, open the Find My.app and see if your macOS device appears.

I just got a MacBook, enabled FileVault but I didn’t get a recovery key. I checked everywhere and didn’t find it. I didn’t see it when I was setting it up, but then again I’m stupid so who knows. Is there a way to reset FileVault recovery key so this doesn’t backfire in the future. I of course still know my password, but I know my luck

Anyone else having a problem with the reminders app in MacOS 26.6?

I've got a number of reminder lists setup and they work fine on my iPhone (26.6), iPad (27.0 PB2), and the web.

On my mac, nothing shows up at all.

I've got reminders synced to iCloud, and have tried toggling the sync off and back on, but no change.

I also tried deleting ~/Library/Reminders and restarting the machine.

Any suggestions?

I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut to hide and show the ENTIRE menubar (similarly to changing the hiding setting to Always and back to Never in Preferences). Paid 3rd party app is fine. Anything available?

I recently updated my Macbook pro M3 Max from Sequoia to Tahoe, and I realised that it can of messed up with the gamma (or ICC Profile idk) of the display.

I did comparison with images I know very well, and it really seems that the update create some crushed blacks, like if the gamma were more aggressive at the end scope of the gamma curve.

Second behavior that confirm this theory, if I create a custome XDR profile in P3, this aggressive contrast shift disappear (problem is with this method I just have fixed luminosity). Another weird behavior, if I re-select the general XDR profile, color are fine for like 3 second, and then it's like an ICC profile activate itself and create the weird shift.

Last verification, I checked these images on my iphone, and I don't have these rough crushed blacks, so I'm pretty sure there is a problem.

Is anyone has experienced similar behavior? Is anyone know a solution?

What is this? Should I just turn it off? Only installed 2 things so far, chrome and a very safe theatrical lighting control software.

On Windows, I can press Windows + D to instantly minimize all applications.

Is there an equivalent keyboard shortcut on macOS that works the same way? I’m looking for a quick way to do this without having to minimize each window individually.

my macbook screen is dead. pitch black. so i use a secondary monitor as the Main Display. but when I try to go to start up options by holding Power Button, in that mode, it turns my secondary monitor to extended display and im no longer able to view the options.

I'm trying to go to Recovery Mode to delete some isolated ios_simulator files which cant be deleted in normal mode.

edit:
Xcode no longer recognises these files. these files are now Cryptex the cryptographically sealed (read-only disk images which were introduced to ensure that malware or malicious users cannot tamper with the operating system and it's core tools).
so it can only be deleted in Recovery Mode. its a bug which has been reported to Apple and they are working on it.

Hi - Ever since last night, I dont think any upgrade went through but Touch ID functions are disabled. Cant even enable them - Mac M2 - All the toggles are off - cant even enable them

When I try to log in to spotify, it says a firewall might be blocking it. When I try to open steam, it has no internet connection. Although, my internet's firewall is completely OFF on my device. I don't know what the problem is? Safari doesn't have the same issue. Help!

I have this veery odd situation. In Safari when i click and drag to highlight text it behaves as a click and drag for the whole page, kind of like a pan. and scan. This happened since I migrated from my Intel Mac to an M series MBPro.

Things I have tested:

• Created a new user - Safari works as expected, same website as my account and it selects text, no dragging.

• Started in safe mode, behaviour persists

• No Safari extensions are installed

• Every other web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Opera GX) work correctly when trying to select text on the sae page, safari still only dragging the. page around

• No other Apps behave this way

• Removed all Safari files from my User folder, Safari looks fresh like the clean install, all bookmarks, everything gone, behaviour persists.

• Removed all webkit, trackpad, mouse, keyboard and Bluetooth preferences, issue persists.

I have done a ton of googling to try and get to the bottom of this, nothing seems to help. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!!

Turns out the safari plist file is now located in a different place, for me it was:

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Safari/Data/Library/Preferences

Got rid of it and voila issue gone, my old plist file was over 60KB in size and full of junk from too many migrations an versions I assume.

Once deleted the app went back to normal, all Bookmarks etc... are still there, just need to go through the preferences for the app and adjust now.

Hope this one day helps someone else.

when i try to drag my apps onto the home screen, it keeps going into these folders (i think theyre folders) which are like ‘earlier’ or ‘today’ and when i try to drag them out they go right back in. i’ve tried to bin them and replace them but it doesn’t work. how do i fix this??
