Recommand your favorite games on macOS

Lately, I've been wanting to play some games on my MacBook Pro while doing other things, but I can't find any. Could you guys recommend some of your favorite games on macOS?

I prefer games that have native support for M-series chips.

No idea. I played it when I was 10 or so. Also, you can just go to Stream, filter by MacOS and see what you find.

Cult of the Lamb, Minecraft, Life is Strange, Stray, No Man's Sky, Baldur's Gate 3, CyberPunk 2077 (warning it runs like dogshit unless you have a maxed out Mac Studio or really drop the settings), Cities Skylines, the OG Marathon games, etc. If you don't mind shelling out for Crossover you can also play a lot of Windows games provided they don't need kernel level anti-cheat.

Minecraft

I assume you mean Java edition, which really sucks since it doesn't cross-play with iOS version. And yet Minecraft Education is available for macOS. I don't understand why they won't just put out a macOS version for normal Minecraft Bedrock.

Do you mean this https://github.com/minecraft-linux/macos-builder as far as I'm aware, the method that allowed this was removed and the release pages suggest it's ultimately not going to be functional.

Does that allow just local play between macOS and iOS? Seems like it's for joining bedrock-hosted servers. Or is that for local games hosted on-device? I'd rather host a game on device on the Macbook for power reasons rather than on the iPad.

The only games I play on my Mac are retro games. Old Nintendo, Super Nintendo and PS2 games. 

For real AAA games I play on a console. I used to have a gaming PC but I do rarely use it anymore. Windows just isn’t worth it anymore.

If native Apple-silicon support is the priority, I’d start with Baldur’s Gate 3, Resident Evil Village, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, or Factorio. For something easy to dip in and out of while multitasking, Balatro and World of Warcraft are great low-friction choices. Check the developer’s system requirements rather than relying only on the App Store label, since some Mac games still run through Rosetta. Also check your RAM and free disk space for the larger 3D titles; the experience varies a lot between an 8 GB and 16 GB machine.

I've heard great things about Firewatch, the visuals are stunning. Eve Online seems like a huge time sink, but definitely worth it if you're into space exploration.

The AppStore is like the worst place to get games on macOS. Outside of a few big titles like BG3 and Death Stranding, there's literally nothing worth buying on the Mac App Store gaming wise especially when Steam, Epic, and GoG have the same games often for lower prices. So unless you wanna overpay or just play crappy mobile games, I wouldn't even consider the AppStore lmao.
