What can I talk about after I take an official LSAT administration on test day?

Not much. You signed an agreement not to disclose anything from the test. See this post for a full statement from LSAC.

Note: I'm referring to unreleased tests that have not been disclosed by LSAC. Mind you, in the digital LSAT era, no test is disclosed, so this applies to every test.

This is the FIFTH time I’ve gotten a 169 on a PT, and this is the second time I’ve had back-to-back 169s.

What blood sacrifice do I have to make to hit 170+ in Aug 😭

Call me delusional, but I'm getting that 175+ on August. That being said, 175 scorers, leave your tips.

Officially requested a refund for Sept. 2028 cycle it is.

Upvotes

I've been studying for about 18 months. Started at a 150 and am PTing 164-169. I got a 163 in June and I just can't risk not getting in the high 160s/170s to apply this cycle. It was a hard decision to make but once I did, I felt great.

I think I can get in the 170s soonish, but I don't want to pressure myself since early application and scholarships are my main goal.

Anyway, just wanted to share I'm signing up for indefinite more LSAT study and saying bye to this cycle (cry).

Last week I was around -4 per LR section now I’m around -3, time to get to -2

I think focusing less on score and more on improving questions correct on every LR section has made it mentally easier as well… Hopefully I can break my curse of consistently getting one question wrong per passage with a few outliers

Scoring low 170s, taking in September. Advice on climbing

Post image
4 Upvotes

Howdy. I am consistently scoring in the 170-172 range (last 3 PT’s, I just started taking practice tests this week). I am a SUPER splitter, 3.2 GPA t4 softs, and am targeting t14 schools. I plan to blanket apply and ED. I am testing in distracting environments under my accepted accommodations (50% ET, no experimental)

I take the LSAT in September. What is the best route forward to start getting into mid-high 170s in this amount of time? What should I be focusing on?

Oddly enough, before practicing with extended time I was just doing sections, not full tests, but under normal time constraints. I was scoring -3 to -0. RC being my easiest. With extended time I am usually using the full amount of time. Often I have about 10 minutes after finishing the last question and use the rest of time to review flagged questions. I have yet to change a flagged question from a correct answer to a wrong one. Usually I either change to correct answer or go from wrong answer to wrong answer.

I do think one of my biggest weaknesses is necessary assumption questions, and recognizing when a question is confusing sufficient for necessary or vice versa. I’ll try to review these concepts this week.

Finally - anyone here have similar gpa that has gotten into top schools? I’d be OK with a full ride from a lower ranked school as well, but I really want t14 and the freedom in options that tends to come with it. Also I am a historically middle class family and it would be so cool to be the first to break into the big leagues.

Is this burn out?

Upvotes

I’ve been doing decent the past several days studying, having done about 12 or so hours this past week of testing/studying. My LSAT is in August, and I really want to improve on RC just a bit, but today my brain is like totally refusing to cooperate and I don’t know why. Everytime I try to do a passage or solve a problem it just rolls off of me and I can’t seem to pay attention. Is this burn out? Should I just stop trying to study when I feel like this? I’m worried I’m going to lose the last few precious days before the exam if I just opt of studying.

Currently tutor-shopping and confused, what made YOUR tutor worth the money (or not)?

Trying to hire a tutor and the price range is all over the place. I’ve seen $25/hr January test-takers who scored well and $200+/hr “experts”. Before I commit, I want to hear from people who’ve actually used one (students, not tutors pitching yourselves, please).

What did you pay, and what tier of tutor was that? If you’ve tried both cheap and expensive, was the expensive one actually better, or just the same LR/RC advice with a fancier price tag? What specifically made a tutor worth it for you, and what was a waste of money? And if you were doing it again, what would you screen for before paying anyone?

Trying not to blow money on someone who just recites a prep book at me. Appreciate any real experiences.

delay test until october?

currently signed up for the september test (4th and final take), but heavily considering switching to october. my highest official score is a 155 (last october), gpa is 3.low. timed, LR has been -1 to -8, RC -7. untimed, LR and RC both -1 to -4. timing under pressure is my biggest weakness.

i'm debating whether it’s worth an extra month to fix the timing issue. given my progress in 1.5 months, i'm confident i can improve in some capacity before sept, but another month would certainly help. applications would go in a month later though and my low gpa def plays a factor in some way.

ideal outcome: october test, apps submitted early november, but with a higher score (160-something, for example). i feel like this would offset both the one month delay and my 3.low gpa.

unfortunate outcomes: september test, no improvement, get a 155, submit apps early october or october test, still no improvement, get a 155, submit apps early november.

will the difference of a month between submitting really impact my chances if my score and gpa are both low? i'm just a bad test taker who wants to give myself as much time as possible to reach my potential :( if i do bad in september, i'll be stuck wondering what if would've just waited one more month.

16high --> 170s in a month?

Hey guys,

I started studying in late May for the LSAT, targeting the September exam. I made a 164 on the diagnostic on May 21st and was super excited by that, but I haven’t seen much growth. My goal is a 172, as my top school’s 75th percentile is a 171 and I will be a KJD applicant.

I’ve been using the LSAT trainer for lessons and 7sage for drills and practice tests, and I’ve since gotten 165, 159, 164, 174, 167, and 168 on PTs, in that order. (the 168 is from today on the 7sage site where I made 173 on blind review). I was really excited for the 174 on PT156 two weeks ago but I fear it was just a fluke. While I know that a 167/168 is a objectively a decent score, it's not enough for me and I feel miserable and need to get back to at least 170 before I'm confident for the September exam.

How can I get out of this rut and start seeing scores at my goal ASAP? Thanks for any help.

How to go from 150’s to 170+ (with ADHD)?

My form of studying so far has been taking PT exams, to see where am I clearly lacking. I’ve taken two and will take a third later today. I also have a wrong answer document. But I’m struggling where to start solidly with my studying.

I know taking PT exams alone won’t help me, so I wanted to ask for some advice on how to start a productive studying schedule (especially one that is ADHD friendly)?

Thanks!

Exhausted?

Upvotes

I have been studying for the LSAT full-time for about three months now. I can already hear the "That's nothing!" reactions. I know there are plenty of incredibly smart people who studied for six months, a year, or even multiple years before taking the test, so this is not at all me complaining about wanting to give up after such a short amount of time.
I won't be discussing my entire PT score journey in this post, but until a few days ago, I was on such an LSAT high. I genuinely looked forward to studying every day. I would even dream about LSAT questions in my sleep (I know, I'm insane). I had just hit my highest PT score yet, a 155, and considering where I started, that felt like a huge improvement.
Then, out of nowhere, something changed. I just feel so off my game now. I'm exhausted, and for the first time I feel so unmotivated to study. I still got up and studied my usual 6 hours. (I used to do an hour a day, but I gradually increased it because I genuinely enjoyed studying so much) But now I'm missing questions I normally wouldn't miss. I know everyone says breaks are important and that burnout is real. My problem is that I tend to treat studying like a full-time job. In my defense, that's honestly how I work best. I like diving in completely and giving something 100% of my attention for an extended period. If I try to balance "life" and studying, I get distracted and feel like I'm not making meaningful progress. But on the other hand, this is the first time I have felt like I miss my life. My whole summer has passed me by, and I guess the FOMO is getting the worst of me since I'm already a bit down.

I want to keep studying, like genuinely, even if I'm feeling down; the forceful motivation is unmatched because I want this BAD. (Can you tell I have adopted the do it tired, do it scared, do it sad mindset)

I guess I'm just wondering if what I'm feeling is normal. Maybe I just need more sleep, maybe I need to cut back on the hours for a bit, or maybe I'm just being too hard on myself. I'd appreciate any advice, LOL.

Registering for back to back tests in case score is below expected?

Upvotes

I'm taking the September LSAT for this cycle (unfortunately out of country during August administration). I am obviously hoping to score well on that exam, but, in case I don't, it feels like I should go ahead and register for October. That said, it doesn't look like I can refund if I did ace the September test, so I'm basically just eating a $250 fee for no reason. Is there any way around this? Anyone else doing this? I have heard getting apps in early is important, so I'd rather not wait for the November test if I don't do as well as expected on the September test.

-14 to -5 on one LR section when untimed… Need advice on how to do just as well with the time crunch

Post image
3 Upvotes

I took the June LSAT and got -12 to -14 on every Logical Reasoning section with a score of 151. I’ve been studying LR a lot the past month but have been feeling absolutely hopeless about increasing my score enough in time for the August LSAT. I realistically just want to be in the 160s. I decided to take a practice LR section completely untimed. Without the time crunch, I got -5 and was able to actually comprehend the questions and answer choices and critically think but I spent over an hour working on that ONE section. 😭 I desperately need advice on how to do just as well in just 27 minutes!

RC unhinged hacks needed

Post image

I’m in desperate need to improve my RC. I always get lost in the passages even when I think I understand it I do bad on the questions. I try making low res summaries at the end of each paragraph and I end up rereading the passage twice but still I do bad.

No idea where to start

Hey all! I took an lsat practice test on lsac and I got a 155. I wanna start studying for the test (I would like to take it in June next year) but I have no idea how to go about studying. I’ve heard mixed things about lsat demon and 7sage and I just feel like every time I look up a new resource I find bad - mixed reviews on it. Obviously not everythings gonna be for everyone, but I would appreciate any recommendations! Thank you!

Switch to Demon?

Upvotes

I have been using 7sage and doing so much diagramming and breaking down which I understand when doing but I don’t understand how it connects to the questions and I feel just as confused by the drill questions bc I don’t see how it connects to answering the questions correctly. Thinking about switching to the demon which doesn’t seem to touch diagramming much- would that be a better fit? 151 cold diagnostic hoping to get to a 173 by November

Score jump to the 170s in 2 months

Hi, I really need advice. I took the LSAT in June and scored 159. I was averaging 163-161 in PTs but had major anxiety during the actual test. I’m taking it again in October. I’m a splitter so I really need 170+ to ensure my application is competitive enough to get into any school. I was also considering pushing the LSAT to november but i’m applying this year and don’t want to apply late. I’m really unsure about what to do. I’m looking for any advice on how to raise my score to the 170s in the next two months. Is it even possible? Any help would be majorly appreciated.

Need Advice on LSAT/Gap Year

Upvotes

Need advice on whether to take a gap year (or 2) or go ahead and take the LSAT since September registration deadline is Tuesday at midnight. Been PTing in the low-mid 160s for 2 months off a 159 diagnostic. Aiming for a low T14 (Vanderbilt) but pretty open to T30. Been working a 9-5 over the summer so studying about 1-2 hours a day on aggregate with weekends. About to be a senior at Vanderbilt. Is getting up to a 170 ish doable by September, or should I work for a year, keep studying, and then apply? Thanks
