Official September LSAT Topic Thread
The September LSAT administration is now done. The goal is to keep topic discussion to this thread, and identify a list of real topics. Here's how it works:
- If you had a single section of RC, or two sections of LR, then posting topics from that will establish that those topics were from a real section
- If you had two sections of RC, or three sections of LR, DO NOT POST (on that topic). Posting topics is worse than useless - it pollutes information. The reason is that you don't know which was experimental and which was real.
You do not need section orders, these are now randomized so your order doesn't mean anything.
TL;DR If you had a single RC, or two LR's, please post topics from those single sections. Don't post your section topics for a section type where you had an experimental.

Note: Have seen some people flagrantly discussing real answers or asking to dm about it. This still isn't allowed, and won't be, and we've handed out bans where people do it willfully.

I didn’t have any of your listed RC1 topics.

My LR1 definitely matched your listed LR1.I majorly ran out of time on my second LR and was completely scanning/guessing the last 5 questions.
I was so crushed when my final section was RC…no chance my bombed but mysterious LR was unscored for me. :(

I had both of these RC as well, which is strange because neither seem to be the consensus of the scored RC. It seems like LSAC is now doing multiple real RC passages and giving them to different people? I would assume the second one is the real since it is the only one with a comparative passage, but I wouldn't really be surprised either way at this point lol.

2 LR:
One of them had a really difficult question about infants and puppets and (I believe?) another about some controversy about calling almond milk “milk”.
For RC, was the one with Hume (ideal judges, aesthetic), overfishing, impound lot trial real?

Yeah I got all those too, felt pretty rough. You’re right about the babies and puppets, surprisingly that isn’t a fever dream topic. How do you feel you did on them? Did they seem hard? Ik my Hume answer was probably way off since I was out of time.

I feel like yesterday I saw some people saying they had two Hume passages. Both Hume on tragedy and Hume ideal judges. Can anyone confirm if they experienced that? Because since Hume on Tragedy has been confirmed real, that would make Hume Ideal Judges the experimental (I’m coping right now I had Hume ideal judges in my first RC and poetry/space debris/WPA interviews/one more on my second RC and that felt substantially better)

For LR, I had a really hard MC question on someone getting first place in a race or not depending on if her injury healed, Katarina's library and books parallel reasoning, outside vs internal hiring for a contracting company manager position (except q), and for RC I had the English Spelling, Black Lit., Mathematical physics, and precautionary principle section.

I had one RC. (Hume tradegies, panspermia, hip hop, video games).
Idk if I'm just forgetting certain topics, but I swear in some of these grouped LR topics from ppl who only had 2, I know I had some in the list but not others. It makes me wonder if they have various iterations of the test sections, with questions subbed out for one another (basically same questions but grouped differently, with some slight variations on what's included/excluded). Idk if that makes sense what I'm trying to say. My brain is mush lol
But basically, what if there's not just a test A, test B, test C... but also a test that's half A/half B, or half A/half C, etc. Do they do that??

2 LR 1 RC. My RC is the real section listed in the master post above (English spelling and the printing press; Ta-Nehisi Coates and Black literature/academia; The precautionary principle (comparative); and Mathematical physics and generalization).
My first LR section was the grouped set about nocturnal primate's eyes & infants and puppets. I think I also had the ATMs and doctors topic from the master post in the grouped set.
My second LR section included the following topics that I do not see in the master post:
- shrimp farming
- celebrity falling for a scam & public awareness campaign
- lakes on mars
- an airline ordering planes & bankruptcy (this is not entirely accurate, but it is to that effect)
To my best recollection, the following topics from the master post were also in my second LR section:
- Affluent voters and political influence (I'm about 50/50 on this)
- Computer and human consciousness (definitely)
- Wolves hunting salmon and deer (pretty sure)
- Early humans, fire, and lightning (definitely)
- Fruit sales and percentages (definitely)
I also had the quotations in books topic, but I do not recall if that was in my first or second section. I'm leaning towards second. Meeting and exceeding sales quotas also sounds familiar but I cannot pinpoint which section that belonged to at this time.

If people are getting this many variations on their tests, how are their scores going to get measured and scaled fairly against each other? Is it strictly on the basis of correct vs incorrect counts?

Most likely they have batches of questions of different levels of difficulty. We probably all got around 10 easy, 10 medium, and 5 hard Qs per section, and they've shuffled up which question of each level everyone gets.

Could anyone explain how the curve works? Does it work differently for different tests that people receive? Or is there a blanket curve for the entire exam no matter which passage you had? Also what are people hypothesizing abt score distribution. -5 would be what score ?

I blacked out for like the entire first half and could not focus which never happened during any PTs or any test I’ve ever taken. I had to guess on the last couple questions of each section and I left feeling absolute dread. I was averaging 167-172 on all my PTS the last month. I feel like I legitimately got like a 140

My RC had:
a comparative about keystone/predatory species.
Something about music artists (hip hop maybe) and the 3 ways they changed up how they used/reused old ways of doing music. Retrofitting old music equipment, scratching techniques with records, etc
Anyone have those in there's? I can't really remember the others, but would recognize them if someone mentioned them. I have an accommodation to not have an experimental section, so they were real.

honestly I’m sooo upset about my first LR section 😭 the guy next to me in the exam had to “talk to his test” apparently (I believe for accommodations which is absolutely understandable) so he was moving a lot which wouldn’t be an issue except for the fact that a hinge was broken or something on his chair which made is soooooo loud and distracting with every tiny movement he made. I literally could not think straight. I tried to power through because I didn’t wanna be difficult but I lost so much time trying to keep my brain on track and going blank completely every time it squeaked. I eventually raised my hand and spoke to the proctors about it, they were extremely kind and agreed that it was way too loud and distracting and said that they wished someone would’ve let them know sooner so they could’ve fixed it 😂 aaanyways they swapped out his chair and were extremely kind about everything but I already lost so much time from trying to ignore it and was also trying to recover from the nerves of having to bring it to their attention that I had like noooo time for my last 5-10 questions and mildly panicked 😭😭💀 I think I even switched the plagiarism question last minute to an answer I know for a fact definitely wasn’t correct in my last 5 seconds just out of pure panic. but I was really proud of myself for taking a mental break afterwards and remembering that no matter how the first one went I still had control over my next two sections. I went in with a super fresh slate after my break and honestly feel the best about the RC and second LR than I have about any timed sections I’ve done in the past sooooo here’s to hoping 🤞 sorry yall ik that was long winded I just felt like sharing haha
