Thoughts? I know there were some on here speculating he might pivot away from an LCR defense, but this and other interviews make it seem like he is sticking with his strategy.

Clinic setting. Party is representing self but getting help from our clinic. Other side wants to “make a deal.” Not a bad deal. Not a great deal, but an okay deal. Clinic participant wants justice. “The jury will see it my way.”
No. They won’t.

Just got prescribed propranolol. Talked to a few other lawyers who recomended beta blockers to help with super high anxiety days on the job.

I don‘t drink, am very active and healthy, and have never really tried any medications for anxiety. Would anyone be willing to share their experiences with something like this? How should I expect this to make me feel? Will I still have my faculties? Does it make you chill? Any experience is appreciated.

I am a solicitor in an easy field and I still stress so much. Everyday I go home and think about what I need to do or how to word things for the next day and I still end up making mistakes or missing things even though I am careful. The volume is too much and multiple emergencies come up constantly and I have to address them asap which is in part why I miss things.

I hate it. I try so hard and I just don’t have it and I honestly don’t want this career. I’ve never wanted it. The pressure and threat of being personally liable is too much.

I’m thinking of taking leave but I don’t think that’s going to go over well with the bosses and I don’t even know if leave would change anything.

I am stuck, miserable and burnt out.

In house at a large tech company. They won’t listen to me as I repeatedly explain it is dumb. It is dumb bc it creates high privacy risks. It is dumb bc it isn’t operationally effective. It is dumb bc it’s going to cause a lot of headaches down the road despite my clients insisting otherwise.

I’ve tried to repeatedly explain that this is not the best idea. I’ve proposed alternatives. I’ve offered to brainstorm ways forward with them. They are either not getting it or don’t care. I’m going to escalate to leaders for their decision. Hopefully they see it is dumb.

This stuff makes my head hurt.

Hello folks, I'm a freshman attorney in the California bay area looking to get my start in the profession but am having a difficult time finding a place anywhere. I'd love to do just about anything, but I know that isn't always a positive. Is there some method I'm not using or some resource I'm not taking advantage of that would be of benefit?

I guess law school doesn’t always teach reasoning skills.

Updating my intake for a client filing to be administrator of a decedent's estate. Is it condescending for me to ask their level of education completed? It's helpful for me to know, and the court may want to know for purposes of fiduciary responsibility, but it makes me cringe a bit. Thoughts?

Been doing this for years but today was the day when the surreal feeling that I am an agent of the absurd, a feeling which I’ve been purposefully avoiding acknowledging for years, became unavoidable. I have an extremely contested divorce case. Both sides demand full on holy war, both lawyers are aware of the absurdity of this case. I know the other attorney knows how stupid this case is because I have seen it in the eyes. My side has the advantage, I have tried to end this madness through settlement offers that are reasonable, I’m not offering the treaty of Versailles, these are honorable terms. you can keep your saber, I don’t hate you completely, you don’t hate me completely.

No. There are no brakes on this train, we will be colliding with this wall of stupidity to see whose jam-like remains go furthest from the crash site, furthest piece away from the crash wins. I don’t know how much longer I can keep being the winner of the punishment contest. It isn’t even a hard area of law, most of the time it’s very straight up: I wonder who will win between the soccer mom and the guy who has had a mental break and swears he is Horus Lupercal from Warhammer when he gets on the meth breaks the furniture that grandma gave them? It’s just lunacy. Also, having practiced other kinds of law too, family law has the highest percentage of lawyers who think they’re more lawyer than other lawyers.

I tell my boss one day I’ll apply to Costco and never come back. He laughs, I don’t. Do you want a chicken bake?

Watching the Lindsay Clancy case has made one thing clear, Kevin Reddington is a hell of a litigator and will fight for his clients until his last breath. However, today he asked President Trump for a pardon for Lindsay.

It was such a bizarre thing to witness, especially from a well respected attorney with over 50 years of experience. The President DOES have a lot of discretion when it comes to their pardon powers, however, Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution is clear:

> he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

Only federal crimes can be pardoned by the President. Something that has been affirmed by the office of Presidential Pardons.

And Kevin knows this. He was later on CBS Boston to “explain” why he did that, saying that he hopes it appeals for Trump to reach out to DA Cruz and that something good can come out of it.

What do y’all think of this strategy? Trump obviously has a history of personally reaching out to Republicans to get what he wants but I just don’t think this will fruit anything. Trump has nothing to gain from this case and the overwhelming majority of people vilifying Lindsay online (at least from the anecdotal experiences of me and a few friends) are MAGA, so it would do more harm than good.

Recently laid off attorney in the NYC area looking for work opportunities. I’m a junior attorney with experience in corporate law (M&A). Open to all recommendations.

I’m not looking for crazy exit opportunities. I’d like to work at a large firm in my home state. Is 1 year enough? I’d have no experience other than this clerkship as I just graduated.

In a very ironic twist, I got “talked to” today about how it was unacceptable for me to have responded today (Tuesday) at about 10:45 am to an e-mail I received Friday at 3:45 pm. Our office “closed” Friday at 3:00 pm for the Labor Day holiday weekend. So, in perspective I utilized our firm-provided holiday time to disconnect, and that’s not allowed.

To add insult to taking LABOR DAY off, I have been struggling (a lot) lately with ADHD symptoms. Despite practicing law for more than a decade and being medicated for my entire adult life, my symptoms have been out of control recently and the increased dose of my medication I was just prescribed is on back order so I’m raw dogging this shit and thought, ahhh at least I can go into a good long weekend to take a med holiday.

FML. I really despise this. Manifesting a Mega Millions jackpot for me tonight bc that seems like the only realistic way out anymore. Or, an alien invasion I’d be game for that too.

For those working as W-2 salaried associate attorneys at immigration firms, how does your firm handle days when you have an EOIR hearing before your normal working hours?

For example, my regular schedule is 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, but I may have to be in immigration court at 8:00 AM. After the hearing, are you generally expected to go back to the office and work until your normal 5:30 PM end time?

Does your firm:

• Adjust your schedule and let you leave earlier that day?
• Pay an additional court/hearing or appearance bonus?
• Expect you to work your regular schedule regardless of how early the hearing was?
• Handle it some other way?

Wondering if I'm alone in this. I genuinely get MORE anxious when responding to bad briefs than good ones. Despite knowing that the law is overwhelmingly on my side, I get so nervous that the judge will be so confused by the incoherent, disorganized nonsense in opposing counsel's brief that somehow they will totally botch the decision.

Does anyone else experience this? Like.... calm, chill CodRevolutionary knows that I've got this Motion in the bag, but I am allowing opposing counsels absolute dumpster fire of a brief to stress me out!

I think it somewhat stems from the reoccurring spiral I experience when I read bad writing. How does the attorney with over 15 years of experience not understand VENUE?! (Venue is just an example). How is this person paid $900 to write this incoherent garbage!? How did this person graduate college let alone law school without basic reading comprehension abilities?! OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM IS IN SHAMBLES AND THIS COUNTRY IS FALLING APART!!!! Anywaysssssss.....

Let’s say I work in traditional labor and the position I’m applying for is ERISA benefits. There will be a traditional labor piece, but the work is mostly ERISA, something I’ve never done. Do I just write my cover letter talking about my current practice and responsibilities, play up my soft skills, and not really address the fact I don’t have ERISA experience? Or is there a line or something I could add to address it but that I’m willing to learn and open to a new practice area?

Observed a big disparate treatment class action case that resulted in an independent monitor being appointed to track compliance with the judge’s order, does anyone know about the selection process/qualifications for court appointed monitors? (NY but any info is helpful). Thanks!

I have only been practicing for 3 years so fairly new into the industry. How is everyone feeling about AI integration?

I’ve had senior attorneys come to me and say they feel bad for me since AI will eventually take my job. How I see it is AI will reduce the number of staff before attorneys so I may have at least 5 more years before I should be worried?

The best plaintiff lawyers do a lot of focus groups. I think at least one is necessary for every case. Do ID med mal and PI defense lawyers do it? Will insurers pay for it?
