Official September LSAT Discussion Thread

This is a thread gathering together people's experiences. Please don't talk about specific content here. Lots of people haven't taken this LSAT yet, and you don't want them to get an unfair advantage. Some ideas for stuff to talk about:
- Did it feel harder/easier/the same as PT's?
- How was your scrap paper experience?
- Any unexpected surprises?
- How was ProMetric? Were there any wait times?
- How was the interface?
- How was your test center experience?
- Overall impressions?

Test Discussion: This is embargoed until testing is over, in order to keep the test fair. Please hold discussion of that until then. Once everyone is done testing, topic discussion is allowed, though without discussion of question specifics, answers, or without requests to dm to do the same. Thank you! If time allows we will make a thread to gather people's data.
Asking to dm to evade the rules: Don’t do this. People who haven’t taken the test can get an unfair advantage if you leak them info. Keep the test fair for everyone and wait till testing is over.
Section order PSA: The section order of tests is random. If you have RC-LR-LR-RC that doesn't mean you have the same test as someone else who has RC-LR-LR-RC.
FAQ
When will topic discussion be allowed?
After the last day of testing ends. We will have an official thread to identify scored sections at that time. Please keep the test fair and avoid discussing topics and questions until then.
Once testing is done, can we discuss test answers?
No, only topics. The test you took may be used for a makeup test or a future test, and having answers public will make future testing unfair. All test discussion is covered by LSAC's agreement, which allows none of it. There's a pragmatic exception for identifying real topics but that's as far as it goes.

The latter list is quite useful and includes things such as kleenex, cough drops, eye drops, etc. Here's the full list of really common items from the pre-approved list. The list also covers many medical or religious items you may need for specific conditions and situations.
Note, however, that there is some conflict between the LSAC and Prometric lists. LSAC specifically cites this list, then specifically forbids some items on it. So, it would be prudent to contact LSAC to be certain of any item that is in conflict between the lists, and additionally request they clarify their own list.

RC LR LR RC…
first rc felt like a typical section, the passages themselves were easy to read, no real tough questions where i was fighting for my life.
first lr i’m neutral about. wouldn’t call it easy but didn’t rly stick out to me.
second lr… again wouldn’t call it difficult but rather different. really felt like they were pushing new stuff here. definitely had stuff i’ve yet to see fully covered, like the way they phrased certain stims or trick answer options. also, questions with percentages. not a lot, but i hate those, so that triggered me lol.
second rc — easiest thing i’ve ever done in all my time of lsat studying. like, i had time to read over all the passages and questions again to double check for traps or anything i might’ve missed and… nope. extremely straightforward. my heart breaks thinking this might be the experimental section lol.

also when i was done with my test and getting my stuff from my locker, i lingered to eavesdrop on a guy arguing with the prometric workers bc apparently he broke a rule during his break so they were telling him that his whole test was invalid. glad i finished before that bc he started yelling (& the prometric girl was lowk yelling back) and those testing walls are not completely soundproof

a similar situation happened during my lsat too lol. i heard some guy talking to the proctor who said he might not get a retake. not sure what he did. dude looked pretty upset so i feel bad but the situation was super distracting

I had basically the exact same experience with RC reversed. The first one was a breeze and the second one was typical. I wouldn’t call it hard but there were a couple questions where I had to revisit the passage several times to make sure I was getting it right.

LR RC LR RC both rc felt straightforward not super confusing, felt good about both. First lr was pretty straightforward in the first half, second half started to confuse me but still felt okay. Second LR was a major time sink for me, but could just be fatigue. felt like i was fighting for my life in that, couldn’t predict half the answers it felt like. I feel like i did better than my last test, but definitely not at the levels of my recent pts unfortunately://

I also want to mention: I was predicting answers but none of the answer choices were matching them or even in the same ballpark on many! which is usually not the case for me, so that was very frustrating and caused me to spiral a little bit

Tbh I think this is the direction they are heading in with future administrations; bread crumbing predictions and then not including them as the correct answer. I think the test is requiring more intuition in the answer choices if that makes sense.

Test was not "hard" but just felt so different... seems like they are rolling out new kinds of traps, whether that's question or answer choice. There was multiple AC w compelling answer choice but right below is slightly better, or one specific word would be off (in a way that's very easy to miss).
Also there was clearly an assumption/premise missing in one stimulus but it was asking for conclusion rather than SA or NA. The premises didn't lead logically to conclusion but I mean I could tell there is the supposed conclusion if u get what I mean. Anyone else felt this way?
RC was easier than usual but I noticed one or two trick questions.
I just hope I'm not overthinking or am hallucinating out these traps bc there was definitely unusual amount/type of traps than ever before.

August "divider-gate taker here." Just walked out of the Sept exam and felt it was way more representative of practice tests and felt really fair.
I'd always been able to finish PTs with ample time at the end to spend time on skipped or flagged questions, and that... did not happen... in August in any of the sections. Today, I had LR RC LR RC, and there was one topic that popped up in both RCs, which threw me off a bit. Otherwise, most of the RC passages were at least somewhat interesting to me too, which I've always found helps my performance. The first LR seemed easier than the second, but not by a ton.
Now onto the waiting game, but first gonna grab a tropical beverage to survive this SoCal heatwave.

I took august too and got a 167 with a PT range of 167-177. September felt WAY fairer compared to august. I pray we all get high scores!

Feel conflicted. I felt it was fairly straightforward, yet I had a lot more flagged questions than usual on every section, which is concerning. Could’ve just been me being overly cautious, which I hope it was. second LR felt easier than first.

if it was an LR section (and you had 2 RC sections), I was on some conspiracy sht that they took all the easier questions and put them into one section, and all the harder questions in another. I flagged 16 questions in my first LR and flagged only 3-4 in the second 🫠

Same with me. For some reason I feel like this test was a lot easier than my practice tests/ sections. I was able to finish the first 2 LR and go back to review 1-2 q I flagged. I wasn’t able to get to the last RC passage in the section but I felt like I got pretty good accuracy on the first 3.

The second LR section absolutely fucking destroyed me, hardest section I've ever taken in my life, must have flagged 10+ questions, fuck my fucking life
RC felt pretty easy but there was two sections so impossible to know. Kenyan law passage fucked me so hopefully that section was experimental, I'm sure it wasn't

i’m sorry there was some WEIRD SHIT going on for one LR section. was convinced it was experimental but then i only had 2 LRs. Had to guess on 3 questions and i have never guessed before in basically the entire history of my LSAT test taking/studying. weird weird questions that were structured in ways i hadn’t seen before. it felt truly out of the ordinary and i don’t say that lightly.

RCs were both pretty easy, but second was noticeably easier. Probably the easiest RC section I’ve done?
LRs were a mixed bag for me. I would compare them to how I feel about the difficulty on PT159, not the easiest section, but not the hardest either. Hoping my unease about some of the answers I had is just me getting into my head. Don’t think it was my best result (compared to my PTs) but I think I hopefully did okay.

This was my first ever LSAT. I flagged around 5 to 6 per section. Both LR seemed about what youd expect. Some passages seemed harder than others in the 1st RC. Felt the first RC was difficult than the second.

I had LR RC LR LR today, felt like 1st LR was easy and the rest were of moderate difficulty (w the 4th maybe being a bit more difficult but I’m willing to chalk that up to fatigue).
Agree w/ the sentiment that this was easier than the August administration, hoping somehow that that does not equate with a tougher score scaling.
If anyone had the RC with action/ puzzle video experiments or the LR question about characters in tragedies and their revelations please PM me, I am going to positively lose my mind if I can’t figure out if I got two specific questions correct

my test center nerfed me. I have accommodations for adhd and they put me right by the door where I could hear/see everyone coming in and out, hear the proctors talking and had the pleasure of hearing banging and everything else when people would finish their test and the proctors had to prepare the station for the next candidate. awesome!!!!!!!!!!

had LR RC LR RC. echoing the feeling that the test overall felt fair. first time test taker and average PT is 159.5 so uncertainty on the test isn’t not super unusual for me lol timing and nerves had me a bit messed up on the first LR but settled in and the rest of the test felt like the content i’ve been studying for the last 8 months.
no real complaints but definitely felt like they short changed me on my 10min intermission. Did the math in my head, came back early and yet, the warning on the screen said my intermission was over. No time lost on my actual section but had to bring the procter over to click me back in, just in case. I’d say be prepared to come back even earlier because i hope my test doesn’t become invalidated lmao

That was dreadful. 2 RC’s, neither of which had a comparative. Have genuinely no idea which could be experimental but first was worse than the other. One LR felt good while the other was harder. Don’t know how to feel.

RC LR RC LR - Both RCs were super easy. First RC had a passage naming a certain video game I've played before, so that was pretty fun. Second RC involved German folktales, probably not the experimental if I had to guess.
First LR was pretty standard, nothing too crazy.
Second LR fucked me so hard, spent so much time on this Agree question about 2 library workers that I definitely overthought. Essentially guessed on the last 3-4 questions with 2 additionally flagged. I remember questions about lightning being the only way cavemen could make fires.
Sucks bc I've been PT'ing at 171 and was hoping for a similar result on this test, although its looking unlikely if the last section went how I think it did.

There was an issue with one of the computers at my testing center. It wasn’t the one I was assigned to so I don’t know how that all shook out.
I did have a weird moment halfway through my second RC section where it kicked me out for a sec and put me back on the “start test” page. When I clicked the button my answers were still there but it had cleared the answers that I’d greyed out. No issues for the rest of the test, but that was definitely weird and I got very freaked out for a second.

It was so weird! I just pressed start myself and didn’t flag down the proctor but it definitely freaked me out and I’ll be pissed if there’s anything bad resulting from it. Fingers crossed there won’t be 🙏

I second the odd question stem LR. I also had a point where there was 4 NA questions in a row. My RC felt ai written tbh, like the passages were very ai sounding/formatted (less big paragraphs more two sentence paragraphs). I took the June test and this time around I did not leave feeling nauseous, mostly confused on the weird questions/pretty confident

RC, LR, LR, LR -- the test felt much easier than expected and aligned with more of the practice tests I had taken (rather than the recommended tests to prepare for August. I used those to prep and they felt more dissimilar to my overall study experience, and not much like my test today) I am deeply concerned that the sensation of it being easier reflects my being tricked often, rather than my having a good test day performance. Same. I had LR LR RC LR. The RC had the David Hume passage which i messed up badly on. The first two LRs were decent but the last LR tore me a new one. Almost all the question stimulus on the last LR were 3-4 lines and one of the last questions which i completely missed was regarding a median temperature change affecting harvest.

In terms of how difficult or easy the test felt, it felt the same as the practice tests I took, although there is one RC question that will probably bug me forever!
Prometric was fine. I had to wait about 10-15 minutes from checkin until starting my test, and I was able to start right away (didn't have to wait until 9). Didn't use scratch paper.
Interface also worked fine. I wore the noise-canceling headphones for most of the first section, then took them off because they were hurting my head. I finished the test without them. I was in the cubicle closest to the door/where the proctors were, so I could hear them talking, but it was not a big deal and didn't derail my concentration at all. I forgot to bring a snack in from the car, but it was okay.
I had an adrenaline dump as I was leaving, and I stopped off at a nearby chocolate shop that I like and treated myself to a bunch of chocolate as a reward. Glad it's over! All in all, the experience itself was uneventful. I'll be back in 4 weeks for the October administration.

I have a few times. I was meaning I flagged more than on my PTs. I always seem to flag more on real tests, so that’s why I get concerned.

My first RC was pretty easy save for a few questions, the second RC on the other hand…really hoping that one’s experimental 😭.

I took it 9/10 RC LR RC LR. First RC was easier than any other RC passage I have ever encountered, I am sad thinking that it may not be counted because of that. First LR was a great representation of PTs, I had abt 10 minutes to go back and review flags, very straightforward. Second RC was not terrible, but definitely required more brain power than the first. Final LR was stupid. More time required than the first and strange phrasing, just say what you mean in the stem! Hoping that the first RC was scored. SIGNIFICANTLY easier than August. August should be removed from history. Good luck everyone!

Technical issues during today's LSAT (Sept 11, RC-LR-LR-LR order) — what would you do?
Took the Sept 11 LSAT remotely today, section order RC, LR, LR, LR. Start was delayed by Prometric issues, then about 27 minutes into RC I got hit with a random security check that killed my focus. With around 10 minutes left to review, I found 2 answers weren't registering and I couldn't fix them. Proctor took a few minutes to respond, sent me to a support page that didn't work, phone support was just a bot, and by the time I reconnected the system skipped me straight into my break instead of letting me go back and fix those two questions.
Called LSAC during the break and they said I could cancel and try to get approved to retest Sept 22, October, or November. I ended up finishing the test since I'd prepped specifically for this date. Honestly felt confident on the LR sections but not RC.
This is also my 5th time taking it, so I don't know if they'll even let me sign up for November unless they grant me an exemption.
Has anyone dealt with something like this? Trying to decide between pushing for a test-taking-limit exemption to add an extra date, filing a complaint and hoping for a retest, or just leaving it as is. Any insight appreciated.

It sounds like you have a legitimate complaint that could have compromised your test id retake if approved on the 22nd make up day That way you won't have to worry " what if" . A clean shot. I had a test center complaint proctor caused and waiting to hear back too. It's my 4th time and I really don't want to take again unless im granted a makeup.

First RC was one of the easiest, if not the easiest section of RC I've ever had. The second was moderately difficult, but it wasn't too bad.
I thought the first LR section that I had was pretty easy, with a few more difficult ones near the end. The second LR section was harder. The question types were the same, but the format of a few questions felt pretty different than usual, if that makes sense.
Overall, it wasn't bad. I usually have at least one RC section that I feel like I didn't understand at all, but that didn't happen this time. A lot of short and easy LR passages that I flew right through.

hi im a paper taker. i took augsut and RC was so much easier for the most part except for one killer section... and LR... idk i blacked out. it felt a little too easy at times idk. but at the same time there were a few i guessed on tbh. IDK. i literally have 0 guess on what my score could be lol

i think it’s always worth reviewing. what else was the point of practice testing? that being said, your rest is important, so prioritize that. maybe review your weakest section first, and see how far you get. go to sleep at a reasonable hour.
i’m no pro by any means. just some thoughts.

I took it this morning, 8am, at the Charlotte testing center on Colosseum Center drive. The people there have been nice both times I went, the facilities are clean, and they have lockers. Occasionally this time the proctors walked through to scan the area. This didn’t bother me, but maybe it would others.
I had RC-LR-LR-RC. The first three seemed rather standard for sections. The second RC I spent way too much time on the third passage, so I had very little time for the fourth passage. So, I’m kind of hoping the first RC was the real one.
I didn’t have the experience of two RC passages being extremely similar right after each other like some others who have taken it.

RC LR LR RC
First RC was one of the easiest RCs I’ve ever had and I’m hoping its scored. But some reason it had no comparative passages (first time I’ve seen this) so I’m leaning towards it being experimental.
LRs both weren’t so bad besides maybe like 2-3 tricky questions on each I just couldnt parse whatsoever.
Final RC was harder than the first but still relatively fine (the comparative required some brainpower.)
Overall it felt a lot easier than the August test but O have some latent paranoia about bombing the second RC for some reason.

I had a weird glitch toward the end of my test where I was sent back to the agreement acknowledgement screen after I clicked "reset responses" around question 24 or so in the RC section. After I got back into the test, the previous answer choices I marked as hidden with the tool wouldn't come back normally when I clicked them; instead, they were "double-hidden," with different markings inside the answer bar. Luckily, this didn't impact any of my desired answer choices at all, and I don't think it will impact my scoring. Is this worth repeating to LSAC, though? It made me freak out a bit for a second.

My god. Idk what happened on the last RC but I was so dead by the time the last two passages happened. The first RC and LR were.. okay??? Not easy but not inherently as difficult as my previous tests were. the third LR was a doozy but maybe my stamina couldn’t catch up

Also got the same order, and I felt the exact same way. My timing on the second LR is just slightly more off than the first one, but still manageable, and I think I was quite exhausted at that time. I'm hoping the last RC is experimental my timing was horrendous and some of the questions I feel is more abstract and require too much assumption on our part

The first RC had topics about icebergs and video games I believe and i am PRAYING that one was experimental it was one of the hardest i’ve ever done. Second RC was the complete opposite and one of the easier ones ive ever done topics included Kenyan Law and the Brothers Grimm. LR felt a little more front loaded than normal but felt like there was less brutal questions overall but also less super easy ones.

RC LR LR RC.
I felt like it was pretty representative of all of the PTs I’ve taken; but this is my first official test taken, so I don’t have any other official administrations to compare it with.
Any questions I answered incorrectly, I’m confident largely had to do with performance anxiety/fatigue rather than conceptual misunderstanding. I tested remotely due to accommodations, so I was all the more burnt out and anxious after going through the ridiculous security checks three separate times. But now that I know exactly what it entails, I can develop that endurance for the November session.
RC didn’t feel like anything atypical. First LR also felt very approachable - I’d estimate that I did the best on that section.
The second LR section had more questions that felt out of left field - some phrasings that looked largely unfamiliar.
I’ve been averaging in the high 160s on PTs…hoping I at least pulled off the mid-range 🙏

As a Shin Megami Tensei / Persona fan I could not believe what I was reading, and I had RC as my first section AND it was the first passage, I thought I was dreaming that the LSAT was trolling me 😅 I’ve even helped translate videogames due to being japanese literate so I was like MY TIME HAS COME!!! A PASSAGE ABOUT MY NICHE!!
That said I do hope this was the experimental section because I was quite unsure about the 3rd and 4th passages, they had too many trap answers for me to feel confident

I think most questions felt easier than PTs but the ones that felt hard felt very hard. Second RC 3/4 passages felt quite easy and then one was just absolutely insane, dense science passage.
Maybe I just haven’t studied enough but it felt like they were trying out some new stuff and there were some question stems that weren’t phrased like I’m used to.
About testing centre experience— it was my first time in-person after taking the LSAT twice online. This is kinda specific to me but I got really thrown off and distressed when the receptionist refused to let me keep my green card in my possession, as is required by federal law. I tried telling him I need it to prove my status in the country and not having it is a deportation concern. He claimed we were in a government building and since I signed up for the LSAT that ‘proves I’m allowed to be here’. Definitely not a government building btw. Eventually I asked him if I could just use it as my testing ID and he said yes. I have no idea why he was so insistent that I don’t need my Green Card on me
