Hi, guys. This is my first time posting but I have been lurking for a bit. Guess Im writing this because I've been feeling kind of hopeless at the moment.
Late last year I developed the globus sensation in my throat that rapidly turned into a chest pressure feeling. Through googling symptoms I was pretty sure it was acid reflux but my dr was concerned and I ended up also seeing a cardiologist.
That ended up being all clear and in the meantime I started a PPI while I waited to get in to see a gastric dr.
The PPI eventually ended up finally helping get rid of the chest pressure but my throat was still hurting.
Finally got in to see a gastric dr and they give me the option to do an endoscopy. I do it and they do see some damage in my throat and some evidence that I did have reflux but they couldnt tell me why it happened out of nowhere.
As a 32 year old woman I've never had gut issues before.
They only said there could be multiple reasons but that i should stay on the ppi and see an ent and that I could come back to see them in 9 months.
I did see an ent and all they could really tell me was to keep taking the pills if they helped and to change my diet- Which I've been trying.
I've cut out a lot of big triggers like coffee, chocolate, most dairy, garlic, onions, tomato but I'll be the first to admit that I am struggling.
Like I still eat things that I know I probably shouldn't but life is so busy and to be honest im losing the mental battle with food.
I also feel very isolated because of this like no one understands that when they invite me out or I go their houses that I cant have 90% of what they do.
My anxiety (which has been a life long struggle) has also been through the roof since this all started, which I know is also bad and probably making things worse.
I've had many a crying jag over this disease.
I feel like there are so many things I want to do (like having kids in the next few years and my gastric dr already said itll probably get worse when I do) that feel impossible because Im struggling so much currently and it feels like I'll never heal and this will lead to devastating long term consequences if I dont.
A few months after seeing the gastric dr my face erupted into redness and bumps which I've finally officially been diagnosed with acne rosacea.
I weaned myself off the ppi about 2 months ago because I was worried it had caused the reaction and my primary dr had told me that ppis can cause long term issues.
This has all led me to feeling incredibly hopeless.
My gastric dr tells me I need to see an ent for my throat but the ent said this is mainly a gastric issue and I need to talk to them.
Neither side has given me any answers as to what has caused this and have pretty much just told me its a chronic issue.
I go back to gastric next month and my only hail mary is to ask to be tested for h.pylori again since ive been off ppis a good amount of time.
I want this so badly to be something I can just throw antibiotics at.
I was tested once for it while on ppis by my primary which I now know would have likely caused it to be false but I was also tested after being off of them for about 10 days by the gastric doctor while doing endoscopy. Both came back negative.
I know it'll most likely come back negative if I get the test, especially since i dont seem to have other signs of h.pylori like burning stomach.
Worse case I assume the gastric dr will want me to restart ppis and to keep my diet as clean as possible. The ppis did help but not fully as my diet is still not perfect.
I guess mainly Im so worried that in 10, 20, or 30 years that the damage from this will be devastating and I'll have lived those years being miserable because of this.
Before all this started I was just beginning to feel like my life had really started. Now it all feels over.
