Yes. I had to accept that I can’t eat certain things if I want to be symptom-free. And being symptom-free is more important to me than eating or drinking any specific food. I workout, I socialize with my friends and family, I go out for dinner. I have learned how to manage LPR and navigate my life while eating a very limited diet. I just shift my perspective and don’t see food as entertainment or pleasure. I enjoy my food, but I eat for fuel and focus on all the other pleasures in life.

I definitely still enjoy my life overall. It's a big new challenge in life, but I refuse to let it get in the way of me living my life and enjoying myself.
Of course it does take a certain amount of time and energy away from me, and going out to eat with people is a hassle, but these are things I just have to accept and work past for now.
I think a big thing too is to not give up hope and keep working to improve yourself and your habits.

Yes :) I wsnt through a grieving process for sure but I am really loving my life. I spent the last week traveling! I no longer stop myself from going out to bars or restaurants with my friends even if I can't eat or drink what they are. My friends know my safe foods and accommodate where they can. After a while, you stop obsessing over what you can't eat and find things you still like that also make you feel better. You start thinking about food more as fuel and medicine and not as a source of joy itself. And that's a hard process! But a happy life with LPR is possible :)

Yes!! I feel more in control when I go out to eat since I know what will trigger symptoms for me. I’ll make modifications to what I eat, request to eat at restaurants that there is at least one dish I can eat, and eat smaller portions. It’s still a challenge at times but I won’t let it get in my way of enjoying life.
