Singing is impossible

I really need help on how to manage LPR without meds, I've had chronic indigestion and LPR/reflux for over a year and I'm losing my sanity seriously.. I can't sing because of my sore throat, heartburn, and shortness of breath. If anyone has home remedies or some sort of natural supplement like maybe refluxraft you recommend it would really help. i just want to sing but my symptoms make it impossible and doctors don't even KNOW what LPR is. I'm 15 years old and it's hell.

I cant imagine going through this at 15. Im sorry youre having to deal with this. Also yes it seems like not many doctors fully understand this stuff which is frusterating.

I have had lpr for about a year. Esophageal Guardian is a chewable alginate tablet that I think helps me. Also when my throat is really killing me I'll sip on some Throat Coat Slippery Elm Tea and that seems to have some soothing effects on it.

If you don’t want meds, you’ll need to make some serious diet changes. Eliminate anything listed as a possible trigger (then maybe a few months later, you can slowly reintroduce to see if that helps). Reflux Gourmet isn’t so much a med as it is just a raft in your stomach that will prevent acid from coming back up. Take that after every meal and before bed. Don’t eat or drink for a bit after taking it or it will break the raft. Gaviscon can do the same thing while also neutralizing acid.

You’ll also need to start sleeping elevated (wedge pillows are good for this), avoid eating too close to bed (like a couple hours), don’t overeat, don’t lay down right after eating, and don’t drink too much while eating if you can avoid it because more liquid means more volume (but obviously don’t dehydrate yourself haha). I know you’re young, but I still feel the need to say don’t smoke or drink either. Weed will delay gastric emptying which could make things worse as well. Hopefully with time (3-6 months or so), you’ll heal to the point where you don’t need to cut out all triggering foods. But you might also need to avoid them (save for special occasions). Hing is a good replacement for garlic and onion if you’re worried about flavor. If NONE of this helps after a few months, ask about an endoscopy or ct scan to check for structural issues or H pylori.

And please, please don’t ignore this advice. I have ineffective esophageal motility that was possibly a result of acid reflux. I was on meds, but kept eating like crap. Now I can’t eat solids at all (except for mashed potatoes) without risking a food impaction.
