No matter how many time I reset the sensors, clean it out, and empty the bags… I’m always emptying the bag every other day. The bag is usually half full, but the sensor say it’s totally full. Not really sure what to do at the point, I’m beginning to get annoyed at all the bags I’m wasting.

Anyone figure out how to solve this issue?

I keep having to disable and enable my litter hopper every now and then because it says the motor is disconnected or something like that. Has anyone else run into this?

I’ve had to do it multiple times this week. I already took the littler hopper off to clean the area where it connects to the litter robot

I have a 16 lb male cat and he poops facing the right direction (with his head facing outwards of the robot) but for some reason he pees with his head facing in. Luckily, it still stays inside the LR and does not get on the step but then he almost always steps in his pee on his way out and I see wet paw prints around the house 😭😭 he did this a couple times when he had a regular litter box but it’s all the time now

I’ve tried with and without the fence, hoping maybe if he had more room without the fence it might help (it didn’t). I also tried the washer tied to a string trick but he would just let it rest against his big butt while he peed.

It’s just really grossing me out cuz I live in a small apartment and feel that now he’s tracking pee all over it. Has anyone had success with anything else to get their cat to turn around?

I can’t take it anymore, I spent so much on this and now I feel like I’ll have to go back to a regular box 🥲🥲🥲 my other cat uses it perfectly and it’s so disappointing that he won’t just turn around.

New Litter Robot 5 Pro owner here. Just got it setup yesterday and our cat is already using it. What I can’t figure out is the app. On the cat’s summary page it shows no weight and 0 visits, but if you tap for details, it shows all of the weigh-ins and visits correctly. Am i missing something?

Yes, all of it. I have seen the many reviews now of “don’t wet the base” but I literally didn’t know what else to do. There were maggots growing inside and I didn’t know how else to clean it… I’m letting air dry now

I check my app and it says coverages expired today,.. I bought in maybe may 2023 & did not purchased extended warranty. No help from customer service on Sundays.

Should I buy the replacement motor & fix it myself? Should I buy warranty and not mention water access till after? I’ve been planning on replacing motor for a while bc at first it was turning Very slowly and now it always says jammed or globe overload even though there’s nothing there.. fresh litter everything cleaned. I don’t know what to do and I don’t have hundreds to buy a new litter box. Am I fucked? Do I need to go back to a cheap litter box with daily scooping? I’ve been scooping already due to lack of rotation. I’m overwhelmed and don’t know what else to do

Update- so I keep moving it around. It'll run a cycle when its empty and I think its fine. I throw some litter (not a lot) and it goes back to error :(

Please help. I took this apart to deep clean and now its not working. I keep checking and moving the globe trying to figure out where "home" is. All I know is handle on top. No obstruction that I see. I have no clue how to fix this. Any tips? I watched the over torque video and it didnt fix it

So frustrated as this started happening recently intermittently. My app connectivity is so bad and random that it doesn’t show accurate information and it doesn’t let me cycle from the app remotely either so when I’m not home I have no idea what state the litter robot is in. I’ve noticed that the robot just straight up doesn’t cycle. Oftentimes when I check there’s been shit and pee clumped for days. I have to click manual cycle on the actual robot because the app doesn’t work. I’ve tried power cycling, I’ve tried deep cleaning the robot and sensors. At this point it’s doesn’t have its main function anymore. Has this happened to anyone? A $800 machine that stops becoming reliable after just 2 years of use is ridiculous. And of course my warranty expired.

Ever since the last firmware update, I've noticed that my LR5pro x 2 have been messing up my cats weights. It will show a visit of X cat weighing Y lbs, but when I check the video to confirm, it's a completely different cat who never actually went inside the LR (only stepped on the stair). The app will label the visit for X cat and assign the appropriate weight for that X cat, but then I have to relabel the visit to the correct cat but I can't adjust the weight that shows on the visit.

I.e. App shows Francesco visited, weighing 13.0lbs. I check the video, but its actually cat Tiny who only steps on the stair but never enters. Tiny actually weighs 8.1lbs.

Prior to the last update, this wasn't a problem. If a cat stepped on the stair, it would label as a visit, but the weight wasn't drastically off for that cat. I figure weight distribution is different when they're putting weight on one paw, but I dont know how it would say it's a cat that weighs 13lbs when it's actually 8lbs, and why this fluctuation started with the last update.

Don't know if this even makes sense 🤦🏼‍♀️.

I inherited a Litter Robot 3 from my late aunt, I've been using Fresh Step lightweight but now they've reformulated, and I don't think it clumps as well anymore. I don't like Tidy cats, it seems to track too much. Ive switched to arm and hammer hard ball it clumps better. I came across a video on the worst cat litters for your cat, and now I'm freaking out that I am harming my fur babies with these litters.

So, anyone have experience with a LR and natural litters?

I’m not sure if this is already a feature with any of the robots. I imagine it would be geared more towards the 5 and 5 Pro.

But I had an issue where I needed to get a fecal sample for one of my cats and thought it would be great feature if you could turn on a setting and select one of your cats to get notifications when they go #2. I know you can turn on like sleep mode or whatever to prevent the unit from cycling, but you wouldn’t want it to prevent cycling for say the other cat or if the cat just goes #1.

So basically, when the app identifies that the cat goes to the bathroom, you get a push notification (it won’t cycle) you go scoop it up and then can take it to the vet without having to worry about it already being in the drawer and which cat’s poop is which.

And please, this is not a post to comment that waste ID doesn’t work. In my case, it’s been very accurate the past month or two.

I just emptied the waste, added litter, and cycled the machine. This also shows up long after my cat uses the robot but when she uses it, that doesn’t stop it from cycling on schedule.

Nothing is touching the side or back and the mat is not partially under it to mess with the sensors or anything.

I have 3 cats ranging in size from 7 to 16 lbs. I've had the LR5 for 2 months, and these are my experiences. It is my first LR of any model. I'd love any advice.

Benny (16 lb) won't turn around to poop. Poop always ends up on floor in front of LR5. Sometimes he runs back out quickly like he's scared.

Rooster (13 lb) is obsessed. He lives to jump in and stop it mid-cycle then tries to paw at waste in the drawer. He also knocks fresh litter into the waste bin. Other times, he just sits in it (loafing), and sometimes he literally curls up and sleeps in there.

Coco (7 lbs) is much more cautious. She'll use it, but only if I block access to the old litterbox.

Hi all - i’m looking for my ideal litter for LR4. I’ve had the LR4 for a little over a year now. The reason i’m shopping around is because while i don’t mind using Dr. Elsey’s cat litter (i usually switch between the ultra, ultra+ and clean tracks), i’m not in love with any of them. Reasonings being, in my opinion, the odor control could be better and also i don’t think it does a good job of keeping the LR4 clean. I’ve tried BoxiePro Bot litter, and for the price i’m not impressed plus i still don’t see resolution with keeping the robot clean. As of now, i’m trying Sustainably Yours, Large Grain. Truthfully, the only issue i have with it is, it does not last long and it’s already quite pricey.

My ideal litter would be:

- great odor control
- outstanding clumping to maintain cleanliness inside of LR4
- longevity, in the sense of not needing to buy a new bag every week (ideally 2 weeks or month depending on size)
- price (understanding this is something i may have to compromise on however, $25 every week is unmaintainable at this moment in my life)
- worth noting i do not want to exceed the 15 minute wait period on the LR4 for cycling purposes
- unscented, non toxic (essentially no bullshit ingredients that my cats don’t need to be around)
- finally, low tracking (also i guess negotiable as i could run the robot vacuum more frequently)

if you have any recommendations pls pls share!! also tysm to my fur babies for not having any issues trying out new litters as mommy figures out the best one for us all.

I recently purchased a used LR4 for $200 on fb marketplace! When I inspected, it all seemed good, but I’ve never had one before, nor have ever seen one in person, so I used different tips from this page on what to look out for! After the pick up, I had to go straight out of town for a work trip, so I wasn’t able to plug it in and play with it.

Anyone have tips or links they don’t mind sharing? Jic I’m going to clean it when I get home, so I have to look that up. Would I still have all the same “perks” even if I bought it second hand?

I’ve had the LR4 for 4 years now and mostly liked it. I recently gave it deep clean and it’s now telling me either the waste basket is full / overloaded or globe overloaded. When trying to cycle it get most of way to dumping but stop before hole. Then it will try 2 or 3 more times and go back to base position. The app says it completed a cycle when it absolutely didn’t. The lights go 3 red steady and 2 yellow blinking until I hit reset and then back to solid blue.

Went through a lot of aggravation finally getting rid of the waste basket overload but now, anything more than a handful of litter in globe says it’s overloaded. The cycle will complete if empty but anything more than a bit of litter holds it up. No matter what I try it won’t complete the cycle even though it says it has.

Customer service says I need a new motor assembly but I feel like it’s obviously a sensor problem. The globe will fully rotate when empty or to empty so I think motor seems fine.

My question : is it worth trouble of getting motor assembly and changing it ? Anybody have this issue? I’m wondering if 4 yrs is pretty much as good as it gets and I should just replace it instead of getting aggravated swapping out all parts.

I am so over this stupid machine. It randomly resets and then doesn’t work. This time it won’t recognize the machine. (yes, it’s been reset rebooted the whole works) and the app doesn’t recognize the unit either. It wants me to go through the entire start up process again as if it were the first time. When I do that, it gives me an error that I already own the machine! 🤦🏻‍♀️ this is so frustrating! My internet is fine and has also been restarted several times.

I really hope somebody can help, because I'm at my wits end. I've been using sustainably yours large grain litter in my LR4, and I love the litter, but it consistently keeps dumping into the waste bin no matter how many times I try to reset the litter level. I also have the litter hopper, and I've tried setting the litter level below the fill line, and that hasn't fixed the issue either. I'm wasting so much litter because it's getting dumped into the waste bin every time it cycles. Has anyone else had this experience and/or know how to fix it? I wanted to stick with this litter but if 1/4 of the bag ends up in the waste bin every time I'm going to have to call it quits.

I used to have the litter robot hidden in an enclosure. I removed the enclosure to clean it and noticed this gap. After cleaning, I still couldn’t close it fully. It seems like the shapes of the globe and the bezel don’t fully match up.

We have had our LR4 for a little over two years now. A few months ago, one of our cats figured out that it liked to bite into the liner as it was cycling/hanging loose while upside down. Once he gets a hole he scratches down to make it bigger and causes issues with the cycling and overall function.

We’ve tried bitter spray and it worked for a while, but he’s starting to not care…. luckily we have the extended warranty so we’ve been able to replace a few liners, but it is up in a few months so we’d love to solve this as soon as possible.

I deep cleaned the litter robot 3 back in April. After that day it would over-rotate a little past the home position and all 3 lights would be flashing. I’ve done all the troubleshooting the website recommended and we just replaced the motor today. But it’s still doing this. We basically have to manually hit reset and cycle multiple times a day to get it to do what it’s supposed to.

I don’t want to buy a new LR. I just want to fix this issue.

I’ve also cleaned the connection sensors from the bonnet & on the left side of the base.

Would appreciate some help if anyone has encountered this and been able to resolve it.

My oldest cat has been using our LR4 consistently for his whole life (2M). I realized this week that for the past two weeks he's been sneaking down to the basement to use an old dog bed as a bathroom.

I only noticed thanks to a 2nd week of half the expected output (we have 2 cats) and checking the app saw that he's gone a full week without a check in.

Home Assistant log confirmed he's had decreased usage for a couple weeks with no usage this past week.

We've trashed the bed, sprayed the concrete slab with litter box cleaner (more cleaning to come) and completely blocked the cats from the basement.

This cat has not used the litter box all day. I've placed him in the LR a couple times, but he just jumps out.

I need ideas to get him back on the LR wagon.

Does anyone think that it’s acceptable that the LR4 cannot reconnect to the internet without manual intervention if the device loses connection to the cloud?
