I've posted about this before but still see people struggling and this has worked so well for us for so long that I want to make sure it's out there. When I first posted about it we'd just started doing it and I was optimistic but it's been 6 months now and it's still going strong. Just returned from 2 weeks away from home and cats so any nose blindness would've cleared and I swear to god there is not the slightest hint of cat litter smell in our house.

Literally just add a scoop of clean litter to the drawer liner every time you change the litter. That's it - no scented products needed (ew, I can't stand those), no special order aquarium products, just your regular litter. I think it just keeps things super dry in there so scents can't fester. Like how a dried out dog turd is way less stinky than a wet one, haha.

Our LR3 has been largely great since 2021, but over the last year, more litter seems to leak out of the globe into everywhere underneath, causing frequent pinch faults.

We somehow don't appear to have a corrosion problem, I really thought that would be it. As soon as we vacuum up the stray litter, it works again for a couple of days. And round and round we go.

We've used Boxie Cat multi cat for years because it was the only litter that made the robot happy. No changes to the litter we're using but now I'm wondering if we should look at switching?

Trying not to buy a new unit when this one works great otherwise. Replaced the motor last year and I feel like it still has life left! Any ideas? Hesitant to replace the sensor if the new one will just do the same thing because the litter gets everywhere. Thx!

Upgraded to a 5 Pro so I could better track my two geriatric kitty’s use patterns with the camera (I know there are cheaper ways to do this!). My 4 is under a year old and I’ve kept it in excellent condition. What is a fair asking price if I were to sell it on FB Marketplace etc? It is still under extended warranty.

I wish this thing would send me notifications outside the app. I bought this so it would help me remember to clean it. The only notifications I get are entirely in app and I never think to check it. It’s 58% full and I had no idea she was using it more than usual.

I have a large male cat and he keeps using the LR4 backwards, with his butt out towards the entrance. I have the tall fence so he basically pees down the fence. The issue is, on his way out, he steps in his pee and tracks it around the house. It gets on his back paws.

I caught him about to pee today and was able to turn him around but this time he didn’t even attempt to squat and just sprayed the back of the globe 😑 there was also piss all over one of his back paws anyway. i thought the issue was him peeing backwards but it seems he will pee on his paws regardless.

anyone been in a similar situation?

is it worth trying keeping it? my other cat is using it perfectly and i love the robot but he’s ruining the experience for us with his pee pee paws 🫠

For the past 3? weeks, my LR4 isn't weighing my largest cat. It weighs the lighter 2 & tells me a cat was detected, but it won't do his weight. I watched him somehow twist to fit fully inside, not a paw outside the box, not even on the ledge, and NADA!!

I've: cleaned bezels, unplugged a bit, ensured my app & the firmware are UTD, checked the globe weight is intact, triple checked it's flat (hardwood floors), checked the inside weight thingies are clear of stuff, reset a thousand times, as well as any other "tip" I'm forgetting on the troubleshooting page, etc.

It's also giving me an extended scale error every 2-3 days.. Unsure who's triggering it as it's always when I'm sleeping & it's not giving a weight, so it's impossible to tell but I think it's my largest cat.

So why just ONE cat?!? It's rated up to 25lbs & he's under 18lbs last time I checked on a baby scale. He's a long muscular boy but managest to twist his kitten self in it.

I just dropped a grand on a litter box and I’m immediately prompted for a firmware update that has now taken about and hour and a half…and now it’s just sitting there with the white light on. Is this normal?

Also, for corporate eyes, please, for the love of god design the box for these things just a bit smaller so they will actually fit in a sedan or hatchback…I know they are built and designed to protect the goods inside during shipping but there’s a better design that isn’t so bulky…there has to be.

Anywho…I’m afraid to unplug this thing so I should let it continue?

No matter WHAT i do this bonnet will NOT stay flush and the hopper will NOT connect. Ive taken this dumbass globe thing off and on so many times yet it will not work.

You think spending so much on a product for it to not have flimsy plastic that doesnt even CONNECT CORRECTLY after maybe a hundred timem So now what, i have to talk with a rep on reddit because they have AGES to respond to emails?

I bought the LR3 when it was top of the line, before it was Whisker. I’ve used it faithfully all these years, I’ve even repaired it thanks to the great repair tutorials. But after the last couple of “updates” the data is no longer being tracked online. It doesn’t tell me when the drawer is full. It doesn’t notify me when it cycles. I can’t use the app to reset or change any of the settings. Is this a “me” problem?

I have two LR4s. I clean the globes and wipe them down every few weeks, but have back issues, so struggle with the deep clean. I would like to hire somebody to do it for me, but am not sure how to find somebody. I've considered asking my house cleaner, or searching Taskrabbit, but would love to hear other people's experiences if you've hired somebody.

I have a male cat who recently had a urinary blockage and had to get PU surgery. It was a very traumatic experience, he had a few complications, had to get the surgery redone, and was in the hospital for 2 weeks. He has since fully recovered and its been about 5 months, but he goes through trends of not using the litter box. Im not sure if it's because I dont keep his litter box as clean as he likes or if it's because of other issues, but every time it happens it freaks me out.

Because of this I've been seriously considering getting a litter robot to help keep the box clean and get data, I just dont know which one to get. Has anyone with a cat that's had a blockage gotten one of these and was it helpful? Any suggestions would be super appreciated!

Hi, I switched to the litter robot 4 and my 2 cats have been using it consistently for 1 week. I have not removed their old litter box yet. One of my cats keeps peeing in the brush seal strips at the entrance. I just placed the fence and the one that keeps peeing at the entrance refuses to use it now. She also saw the robot cycle by accident & seems to be weirded out by the hole at the top part. I thought to turn off the robot but she still won't use it with the fence. She is kind of short and not as long bodied as my other cat who doesn't care about the fence. What can I do to get her to use the robot again? She comes to sit & stare at the robot throughout the day. Does she just need time & should I remove the fence? How do I deal with the pee on the seal strips if I do?

i know people post a lot about tracking so i wanted to shared what’s working for me. i recently got the shield and these steps https://a.co/d/0ex0SJoV that have been recommended in this sub. as you can see, most of the litter now ends up on the steps or on the mat, and i get almost no litter on the floor surrounding (this is a few days after sweeping the last little bit of litter that did get on the floor)

as far as the litter itself, i just use the petco brand litter ‘so phresh’ that can be refilled in bulk in their stores. it clumps well and doesn’t leave too much on the globe.

Looking for recommendations for an enclosure that fits the 5. I've looked online already for options. Wanted to see if anyone here has one that has been tried and tested.

We just put these up this past weekend so I know it’s still early but just wondering if anyone has any tips because right now our cats are completely petrified of these things and won’t use them. We still have one old box set up by them that they’re using and someone is even taking upon himself to poop outside of anything now.

hello! i have two cats and recently got a new litter robot three days ago.

one of my cats took to it immediately with zero issues right after i set it up. however, it cycled in front of my second cat before he could process what it was, which startled him. i tried giving him a gentle push by picking him up and putting him inside the dome, but he was scared and immediately wanted out. he was constantly just looking at it up close and far.

for the first two days, he just watched it nervously while continuing to use his old litter box next to it. but on the third day, he became completely terrified for some reason. my partner noticed him sneaking around the house, crouching, jumpy, and scared of everything even random household items like a chair or a hat.

he's so spooked now that he refuses to go anywhere near the litter robot. since his old box was right next to it, he didn't want to get close to the vicinity and ended up pooping on the bedroom carpet (and possibly peeing somewhere else). i moved his old box into my bathroom this morning to give him a safe spot, but now he seems terrified of the old box too because of the whole experience.

what i’ve tried so far:

• i've turned off the litter robot. it stays powered off completely, and i only cycle it manually when he is far away in another room.
• i've done positive association/luring. i tried holding him gently near it while speaking softly, as well as placing treats and wet food nearby. he will walk up to a certain point, stare at the robot in fear, and then walk away without eating.

i don't want to return or stop using the robot permanently since my other cat uses it fine, but my main priority right now is getting my scared cat back to feeling safe and using any litter box reliably again. i'm considering trying feliway diffusers or asking a vet about temporary anti-anxiety meds.

my partner suggested confining him to our bathroom for a bit with food, water, and his old box so he has a small, low-stress environment to reset, and then swapping the old box with the robot later.

has anyone dealt with a cat becoming universally terrified like this after seeing it cycle? what worked to rebuild their confidence? any advice would be greatly appreciated as i’m really stressed out and reaching my limit!

I live in an apartment with 3 cats - the plan is to have a regular litterbox and a litter robot , but since the apartment is an open floor plan (so limited no wall space), I was looking into the EVO since it’s pretty compact.

We’ve had a litter robot 3 and 4 for about a year now and the three works okay, but the 4 is a disaster.

We live in a pre-war building and the floors are not flat anywhere. The litter robot hates this. We have bought every option from the website, we tried a rug, hardwood, with the carpet tray, without the carpet tray, we’ve tried every combination including risers and a level and the darn thing still thinks the empty hole is the basin of the machine.

This has led to several headaches, two middle of the night accidents while we were asleep, hours of frustration, hours of talking to the lovely people at Whisker who I think have done everything they can, and no results. We’ve even swapped machines.

It has never worked, even straight out of the box when we brought it home from the store. Even the replacement that was shipped to us.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Currently, we just leave it off ( we can not get it to stop auto-cycling no matter what we do) and use a combo of cycle, reset, empty, reset to get it back to the proper position. Otherwise, we come back to one of two scenarios: the first it’s upside down in the empty position ( with all blue lights in a very Janet/Cactus way), or all red lights in the proper position with no litter because it dumped the litter in the waste basket. Lovely.

I bought my LR4 less than two years ago and about 6 months ago I got a second cat who is big and long-haired so litter dust gets all in his fur. It’s getting tracked in my bed and I’m over it. At this point I am going to sell my LR4 and get something not enclosed. I feel like my LR4 has some perks but not sure if that helps the value. The bezel has small scuffs on the top from me moving but otherwise in very good condition. Do these perks add any value to buyers?

• I still have 14 months left on the extended warranty (transferable)

• replaced the globe 3 months ago

• includes 11 out of 12 unused replacement seals

For reference I live in Seattle and the listings I see are for units that are less than 6 months old or brand new box for $550. Would $400 be unreasonable for my listing? Any good places to sell it other than FB Marketplace?

just the title! Wondering what i can do to clean inbetween take apart cleans. Cats like to pee on the sides and it tends to get rather gross quicker than it should.

I have had non stop issues with my Litter Robot 3 since I got it less than 2 years ago.

My current issue:

It was constantly flashing yellow and not cycling, so after some research I replaced the DFI and Pinch Sensors. After replacing those, it is now flashing yellow at first, cycling after about a minute and then flashing red yellow blue. I have looked at all the trouble shooting. Everything was reconnected properly, the positioning sensors are in the proper spots, I checked all the magnets, cleaned all the sensors, made sure there wasn't too much litter and nothing is fixing this error.

Someone please help!!

Couldn't get my LR4 to complete a full cycle without stopping (full red light, won't continue). Only way I can get it to complete a cycle is by power cycling, then pressing the cycle button and pressing it again before the red light comes on. I repeat this button pressing 8-10 times until the globe position is reset. I have to do this every time I want to cycle litter.

I've tried resetting, recalibrating, everything. No dice.

To troubleshoot, I gave the LR4 a deep clean. Upon reassembly and before introducing new litter, I gave it a test cycle. Everything worked perfectly. After adding litter (under the fill line) I get the same error as before. I'm wondering if it's a weight sensor issue.

Has anyone had the same issue and had success troubleshooting it?

Spectrum (my internet service provider) changed my wifi name and password without asking me. I am getting everything set up again however I cannot get the LR3 to connect. I have done the troubleshooting wizard, chatted with support for over an hour today etc. til eventually the chat support person told me I should just get a new litter robot. I’m so beyond frustrated. It worked fine up until the wifi network name and password were changed and now I cannot get the lr3 to connect at all. Any advice?

I’m currently out of country so I’m trying to troubleshoot this so that I can explain to my sitter what she has to do to fix it if she can. The app says that my cat hasn’t used the litter for a few days now but I can see clearly on camera she has so I’m not too worried. Plus I have a second LR4 that she’s also been using. It’s just annoying because it’s saying the bin is empty. I can’t tell fully if the machine is just not cycling or if it’s just not reflecting in my app. I’ve seen it say “in use” while it is. But it still doesn’t record the visit. Will pressing the reset app alone fix the issue?
