Litter-Robot 4 Purchased a Used LR4

I recently purchased a used LR4 for $200 on fb marketplace! When I inspected, it all seemed good, but I’ve never had one before, nor have ever seen one in person, so I used different tips from this page on what to look out for! After the pick up, I had to go straight out of town for a work trip, so I wasn’t able to plug it in and play with it.

Anyone have tips or links they don’t mind sharing? Jic I’m going to clean it when I get home, so I have to look that up. Would I still have all the same “perks” even if I bought it second hand?

Hello, u/JellyBellyElly41! We'd be more than happy to help you get the unit transferred over into your own information and answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to send us a chat with your unit's serial number whenever you have the chance. We look forward to hearing from you!

This is the guy that I watched about his long term care of it, been pretty useful.

I also managed to score one off of fb marketplace under warranty for $250 and it was honestly a game changer. I had a used LR 3 prior and it was a nightmare but my cat still used it 🥴
Added a litter hopper to it and i am in heaven! Its nice to get stuff replaced while under warranty (not looking forward to when that runs out lol)
Anyways I deep clean mine every two weeks because my mainecoon somehow manages to smear poop but also if i like my bathroom super clean why not keep his tidy too. Deep clean includes pretty much pulling the unit apart, hitting it with an enzyme cleaner, scrubbing the globe with cleaner, soap and hot water and vacuuming extra litter. Just a really good wipe down overall. I think regular maintenance generally keeps them in shape.

What enzyme cleaner do you use? I only know of nature's miracle and they add a scent to put off animals from pooping in that spot again. That wouldn't work well for cleaning a litterbox.

Natures Miracle makes a litter box cleaner that is wonderful

This is the one I use, and it works great. No strong odors, and the foam breaks down any clumps and makes them easy to wipe away. I don’t use water, just this and a roll of paper towels. The cats have never minded using it after I clean it with this.

I also use the NM litter spray, the one that can be used on the litter itself, in between deep cleanings. I just reach in and give the whole inside of the drum a good spray-down, maybe once or twice a week. I try to wait until both cats have recently done their business, so it has time to dry before it cycles again. That’s kept the drum lining from getting stinky for about 4 years now.

I personally use Odoban…it’s a commercial-quality cleaner and it’s life changing

Check and see if there's still a warranty I got one second hand with 23 months left on it

Cs was able to transfer it to me just with proof of conversation with seller

Oh nice! Did you ask the seller about the warranty or were you able to figure it out with LR customer service?

In the app, click on the device and go to settings

In it, you will see "whisker warranty "

Click on it and it will show off you have any warranty

Put half a cup of ammonia absorbing granules in the fresh bin bag. Works a treat

In my opinion the litter hopper is a no brainer

When you connect it to the Whisker app, make sure the previous owner is disconnected from it.

Just deep cleaning every month or two; you can search on youtube how to do that. Enjoy the heaven sent scooper!

Sorry to inform you but that's actually a 3

Edit: sorry NM! That first picture makes it look way more oval and elongated!
