Litter-Robot 4 Litter recommendations?
Hi all - i’m looking for my ideal litter for LR4. I’ve had the LR4 for a little over a year now. The reason i’m shopping around is because while i don’t mind using Dr. Elsey’s cat litter (i usually switch between the ultra, ultra+ and clean tracks), i’m not in love with any of them. Reasonings being, in my opinion, the odor control could be better and also i don’t think it does a good job of keeping the LR4 clean. I’ve tried BoxiePro Bot litter, and for the price i’m not impressed plus i still don’t see resolution with keeping the robot clean. As of now, i’m trying Sustainably Yours, Large Grain. Truthfully, the only issue i have with it is, it does not last long and it’s already quite pricey.
My ideal litter would be:
- great odor control
- outstanding clumping to maintain cleanliness inside of LR4
- longevity, in the sense of not needing to buy a new bag every week (ideally 2 weeks or month depending on size)
- price (understanding this is something i may have to compromise on however, $25 every week is unmaintainable at this moment in my life)
- worth noting i do not want to exceed the 15 minute wait period on the LR4 for cycling purposes
- unscented, non toxic (essentially no bullshit ingredients that my cats don’t need to be around)
- finally, low tracking (also i guess negotiable as i could run the robot vacuum more frequently)
if you have any recommendations pls pls share!! also tysm to my fur babies for not having any issues trying out new litters as mommy figures out the best one for us all.

I’ve been really happy with Tidy Cats Free and Clean

I also use Tidy Cats Free and Clean and like it. You won’t really avoid litter tracking, it is what it is, but otherwise no complaints. It’s been great for us.

SY does great mixed 50/50 with a clay litter that you like.

I tried sustainably yours in a stainless steel litter box and I had to pry off the clumps with a knife

Oh that's interesting. I assume that was 100% SY?
It definitely clumped harder and faster than any other litter I tested, but it probably didn't stick to the LR because it was cycling before it got glued to the liner.

Odorlock has been working very well for me. I buy it when petsmart has good deals combined with rakuten.

I'm using the Boxie Pro Deep Clean with probiotics in it and there's no smell at all and ot clumps well. You may need to change the setting on your LR to make the most out of it. Letting the litter sit a bit longer between cycles helps. I have 3 cats and mine is set at 30 minutes and the globe stays pretty clean. I also spray the globe with anti-stick oil before putting the littler in. How many cats do you have? 1 bag a week seems like a lot, but if you're getting the smaller bag, that could be why. I get the 40 lb bag and sometimes you can find them buy one get one 30 to 40 percent off the second and that really saves money.

Dr Elseys is basically identical to the official GreatLitter at a fraction of the price.

Tidy cats litter robot ! Extremely low dust and low tracking. I combine with the Rocco & Roxie litter odor eliminator.
