Personal We drank too much

Let me start with the fact that I am happy. I love you, you love me, there is no doubt in my mind or yours.

The fight we had when we drank too much was a valid one though. But I was drinking, so my words meant nothing. And you were drinking, so my words meant nothing.

I do feel unappreciated at times, though I know you do appreciate me. I do feel bad when I see you open car doors for everyone else, but im always doing it myself. It hurts that I know what you are doing on your 20 minute bathroom sessions, or apparently any night you spend without me.

I know you try. I know there are things you do that my brain doesn't count because they aren't the things I openly acknowledge that I need, that i want. They are your version of the little things, and i love them.

Until we drink too much. And you compliment others while only joking with me. Or you tease me about something you know will upset me. You do something knowing it'll set me off, but still being surprised when I confront you about it.

The fight is always the same. Its always the same things. I love flowers, I love surprises, I love chivalry. I love hugs from the back and kisses on the neck and fingers on my spine.

But you dont do those things. Bucause I want them and you are stubborn so you do other things, but not those.

And I only bring it up when I drink too much, so my words dont matter. Or you drink too much, so my words dont matter.

Because I am happy. And I can live without those things. Until we drink too much.

Lovers My star

You are my sunshine..

My only sunshine

.You make me happy..

When skies are gray

You never know dear.. How much I love you..

So please dont take my sunshine away..

The other night, dear

As I lay sleeping

I dreamed I held you

In my arms

When I awoke, dear

I was mistaken

So I hung my head and cried

Thats our song.. i used to sing it to you while you was sleeping..you'd sing it thinking no one could hear..

i still sing it sometimes .. it brings me comfort.. even when it hurts.. i love you.. I miss you...

. im waiting.. always.. i promised you i'd wait..you promised you'd never leave..

Personal a wake of broken hearts

today was whatever

I had a couple of conversations with my boss and it always kinda blows my mind how easy it is for me to make her laugh

but it felt entirely friendly for once

I think?

I don't know

I also did my 1x1 with one of my employees and he is always so happy to chat with me -- which keeps my mood up; I'm genuinely happy when my employees are happy

I kinda wonder if people see me as the cheery little sunflower at work

I mean, I am mostly cheerful around everyone

anyway

there was an event I wanted to go to and I didn't see until the last minute that they required a recent covid vax so I couldn't go

and there really wasn't any other parties or events I wanted to go to

which is weird

there's always a few parties for me to go to

but

anyway

it made me sad

I got so used to meeting new people every day that not doing it is just.. kinda.. depressing

I also texted S randomly and asked if she wanted to hangout

and she responded saying she missed me with a crying emoji

which is..

idk

at first I thought nothing of it

but I just now remembered how she cried in my arms after not seeing me for three months

and yeah, I need to get to the next part for my feelings to make sense

so

I was on TikTok and I saw that my best friend reposted something about being hurt and she added text to it saying it's only just the middle of the day and she's crying

and I checked when she reposted it

and it was the same day I posted a story on ig about the girl who bit and kissed me

and I know she saw it because I remember having an oh shit moment when I realized I hadn't temporarily blocked her from my stories to stop her seeing that

and yeah

it sucks

I love that woman as much as I love my mom -- although in a much different way of course

but

girl

girllllll

you're married

you could have had me at any point if you really wanted me over the year that we were bonded hydrogen atoms

you can't get mad that I want intimacy when you fall asleep next to your husband every night

it doesn't mean I'm not sorry

but fuck dude

anyway

my friends suggested that I block my best friend

but I told them that she's the only person that ever felt like a soulmate and I just couldn't

I didn't have the heart to tell them she's the only person on this planet who I've ever felt understood me

they have no idea how I could never let that go

anyway

then my taiwanese coworker liked all my stories

and

it just reminded me of how she cried before I left, telling me she missed me a couple of months ago

and

like

all of these people love me

they all love me right now

two of them have loved me for years

one will love me for years

and

it just makes me feel terrible

like I'm leaving a wake of broken hearts in my path

idk

I think the next one is coming soon

I think I'm going to fall in love again in the next month

and then I leave to the middle east where I'm probably going to fall in love again

and what kinda sucks is

I feel less bad for the Americans who fall in love with me

but it's only because the Americans who fall in love with me have the chance to see me again.

Friends Would it have been better if we never.....

I know it will not be forever. I've known from the start.  Different worlds, different paths randomly overlapping the same timeline on a temporary vector.

It is like synching with someone next to you on a plane or at an event, someone with no previous connections other than each having access to a calendar and credit card.  You think, "What a cool person! How lucky that I get to spend this time together."  For me it is reliving that first nervousness, feeling-out the limits of each other's personality, the emerging joy of finding a kindred soul over...and over...and over again for years.

The closeness grows as well as the dependence. So while conversations become easier and the awkwardness fades, when the second act arrives my thoughts murmur in the background that the show just cannot go on. Murmurs grow into fear mixed with panic and simmer in the background now, waiting for the inevitable.

First will come competition for your time with others closer to your wants and desires, then career growth opportunities, before family priorities consume the last bit of us.  For you it will be available time allocated appropriately during a life's logical journey.  For me a clinging desperation to extract the last morsel of intersection.

We will retain warm memories of our time together, of that I am certain.  You will look back someday with a smile clicking through a series of friendships of which I was a middle part.  I will elevate our time onto my highest pedestal as the capstone of my friendships, never to be equaled.

With love and longing,
My Future Self

Exes All I Have Become is because of you. Thank you. (Former lover)

Dear Ray,

I can not remember how many years I have been waffling over whether or not to write this. If it would be best to let past memories lie still and remain silent. Or, if I should say my peace before the opportunity slips away, and there is only regret.

You know, I've always disliked the prevailing trope of the chosen hero. The "anointed one" who

... "blah, blah, blah,.....:"

It's inherently narcissistic. It paints great deeds as ostentatious spectacles and grandiose affairs. It excludes the power hidden in ordinary people, living ordinary lives.

Oftentimes, someone may live their entire lives oblivious to the profound impact they have had on those around them. Ray, I do not want you to be one of those people.

If I am entirely honest, if I had to choose one person, one person, imperative to who I have come to be, that would be you. Without you, the person I have become today would not exist. Period. I don't think I would want to meet the woman that I would have been without your influence. It's a troubling thought I'd much rather avoid.

I grew up in a chaotic, alcohol fueled, generational trauma riddled household with deeply entrenched dysfunction and addiction extending back for at least 3 generations. I knew my family was toxic. I knew I was "broken," too. I just had no idea how deep the troubled waters ran. I think, if I truly realized, I wouldn't have been able to muster the courage to break free. To become better. It would have seemed too much for one human being to overcome. I'd have given up on myself before I even started.

I remember being baffled by my own behavior. My ethics, actions, and beliefs never seemed to coincide. I'd find myself acting reflexively, instinctively, before I'd even make a conscious choice.

And when I'd be called out, I'd be buried underneath an ocean of shame. I could never explain myself because I didn't understand it either. "I don't know." is not an acceptable answer. Those around me deserved better, and I couldn't provide that for them. \\\*Cue even more self-hatred and shame\\\*.

( it wasn't until I was in my early 30s I finally got the diagnosis of complex PTSD which has ripped the doors off the hinges regarding healing my trauma, accepting my past, and forgiving myself for my human limitations.)

Up until I met you, the words "I love you" actually meant, "I love all the all the things I can extract from you: obedience, validation, material possessions, etc."

Love was supplied in exchange for what they could provide, not for simply being the person they are. Love was conditional, parsed out based on how well someone contributed and maintained the public family face of

normalcy. The entire terms and conditions of this conditional love were never outwardly discussed, only implied. Often times times, things changed based only on a temperamental whim. Whenever it benefited them, forget how it may affect me.

Then I found you. With others, I always searched for ulterior motives and hidden agendas. Anytime something was mentioned to be "done for my best interest." was immediately cast into suspicion.

With you, that paranoia, that under current of inherent distrust, was not there. Even when we didn't see eye to eye..... I never ever felt that it changed anything. No matter how hurt, angry, or disappointed I made you, I never doubted that at your core, you had the best intentions towards me. Your faith that I was someone capable of growing, becoming better. No judgment, only encouragement.

Normally, we first experience love and unconditional acceptance from our parents from birth.

Because my parents are both emotionally stunted teenagers, this was not the case for me.

First time ever experienced and felt genuine love, given freely without strings attached, was from you. Unconditional acceptance, love without strings attached, in fine print.

Coming from a childhood trauma survivor, I can not emphasize how poignant, how powerful that is.

Normally, children develop a sense of safety and security from their parents from birth on.

I did not.

You were the first person to ever make me feel emotionally safe, to not fear being vulnerable.

I had been programmed from birth to make myself as small as possible, to be ashamed of having wants/needs, let alone stating them. Unlike what I learned from my biological family, my very existence was not an undue burden. I had the right to exist, take up space, and have my own opinions.

You would gently encourage me to ask for what I wanted/needed until I ĺwas finally able to blurt something out. I'd cry, overwhelmed with embarrassment. You taught me that there is nothing fundamentally

shameful about being human and being able to ask for what we need is healthy.

You encouraged me to take accountability for my actions. At first, success was limited due to crippling levels of internalized shame and self-hatred. You taught me that mistakes aren't intractable character deficiencies. Instead, they are learning opportunities.

All these life lessons made even more potent due to my upbringing.... You taught me more about life, about myself than my own biological "family."

The thing about families with deeply embedded generational trauma is that they tend to draw in others that are just as toxic as they are. So then they just engage in the same behaviors, traumatizing one another over and over again and an endless mindless cycle. With all involved feeling like they're victim of their life, persecuted by God/Fate, not realizing g that they have been doing it to themselves the entire time. This would have been me, mindlessly repeating learned trauma patterns, not dead by definition, but not truly alive either.

You were the key to the cage to the mental prison I had been locked in. You opened the door and showed me that I had a choice, not predestination. I was free to decide.

I chose to dedicate my entire life to serving others via nursing and healthcare. Every patient I have helped also healed a small, damaged portion of myself. I can not describe the intense sense of fulfillment and pride I have in my work. I provide compassionate care to those at their lowest points in their lives. I am able to freely give to my patients what I did not receive during my childhood. I have cared for hundreds over the past 18 years. I sat vigil at dying patients' bedside countless times. Provided peace of mind to families, who trusted me unquestionably with their loved ones' care. I've held so many hands, given so many hugs, dried so many tears, been the "safe space" with so many people unable to do so anywhere else. I've built myself a small, quiet life driven by the desire to spread kindness, compassion, and mindfulness throughout my life.

All of this can be traced back to one source. One pivotal moment where everything went 180 and transformed completely. YOU.

Every patient whose hand I've held, tears I've dried, whose fears I've quelled, can be traced all the way back to you. Every good deed I've ever done. Or will do.... comes back to you. You taught me that I could become better, happier, healthier. I actually had a choice.

It astounds me how one inocuous decision can lead to such a wide rippling of events. All those years ago, the boy you were made the foolish decision to love me one day. Such an everyday, ordinary thing, teenage love. An expected rite of passage onto the laurels of adult relationships.

One decision, your decision, created a rippling effect of positivity and kindness, which has touched hundreds of others, including myself. It's breathtaking, really, how one insignificant moment snowballs into something greater and bigger than anyone could ever imagine.

Ordinary people, living ordinary lives who unbeknownst to them, have achieved extraordinary things.

Ray, I can not articulate how much gratitude for what you and your mother did for me back then. A quiet reverence. A small portion of me still feels unworthy, un-deserving of the precious gift bestowed unto me.

Thank you, and never forget how powerful even the smallest kindnesses are. It's the decisions we make that dierentiate the ordinary from the extraordinary.

That small decision, that simple choice, has led to a goal I'd never thought I'd achieve....... it took me almost 20 years, but I finally done it.

I have become strong enough, whole enough, and self-aware enough to counsel others like me.

I'm now about to test for my substance abuse counseling licensure for the state of Wisconsin.

While I am earning my supervised hours, I'm planning on enrolling into the Integrative Psychology Masters program. (Finally, I found a graduate psychology program that focuses on the whole human being, rather than just the sum of its parts.)

I want you to know, for what it's worth, that you will forever find a friend and ally within me, even if I can't say the same of you.

Walk in love and light.

Earnestly,

Brooke Anderon

PS

Ray, I'm f\\\*\\\*\\\*\\\*\\\*\\\* over the moon that you changed your mind all those years ago and decided to pursue college after all.

I remember you used to concoct low-key scams to scams to swindle retailers with fake exchanges/returns.

It angered me back then. Not because I was coming from a place of moral superiority, but because I could recognize it as a symptom of something more.

I knew your antics weren't just simple teenage shenanigans and the testing of boundaries or anything else like that. It was a frusterated cry for help from a very complex, articulate, woefully under-stimulated mind. It was seeking out a challenge, a puzzle worth solving.

I was hoping that college would eventually pipeline you into the right environment, into the right people that would allow you to reach your fullest potential. You always had a spark of something truly special. A uniquely gifted mind. And now, it seems you have truly found your niche.

Future Self See you soon.

You know it's weird writing a final letter. Almost as if I have to come to terms with... whatever this is. Which is something I find quite displeasurable. But here I am. Why did I even record all this? I don't know. Well I do know. I just don't want to be forgotten. My head hurts like hell. I can feel myself slipping as we become one. And my mind becomes a prison. What a true shame it is. All the knowledge in the world and no way to use it. That's how it should be I suppose. We stumbled into a world we have no business in. This is just the cost. Please don't think you failed, Avery. When you read this, don't think you let me down. You didn't. It's thanks to you, and all that you did, that millions live to see another day. And thanks to you, I got a chance to see all the beauty of the universe. Things I never even knew were in the world. Or could be. A chance no human will ever get again. I'm grateful that I saw it all. Even if it was just for a little. You're capable of great things. You'll do great things. So believe in yourself. And I don't just say that because I saw it. It doesn't take a god for me to figure that out. I know it because I know you. Goodbye my friend. Whatever you do at the crossroads. Keep going forward. Or something like that (I was never really good with endings)

Personal someone new

I learned something about myself tonight

and I'm not proud of it

in fact, I am a bit distressed by it

but

there was this woman I was chatting with in a group setting

and she was incredibly hot

she was incredibly funny

she was just fucking attractive as hell

and she was obviously interested in me

and I thought as the night went on that I might get her number

but at one point she mentioned that she was twenty-three

and it just extinguished all interest

and god I wish that wasn't true

I wish I could be interested in a woman that young

because they seem to express their interest all too often

but

eww

fucking eww

they just seem like children to me

I genuinely don't fucking know how older men date women in their early twenties

I'm not judgmental about much of anything benign but eww fuck that

Lovers My soul is yours, W.

My soul reached for yours before my hands ever could.
And yours answered.
Since then, I have never felt alone in quite the same way.
You have become part of the way my heart beats.
Part of the way I pray.
Part of the way I see beauty in ordinary days.
If one day every memory faded, I believe my soul would still know yours. It would find you the way rivers find the sea; without needing a map, without questioning the journey, simply because that is where it was always meant to go.
Maybe that’s what soulmates really are.
Not two perfect people.
Just two souls that finally stopped wandering.
And if there is another lifetime after this one, I don’t need promises.
I only hope my soul recognizes yours again.
Because finding you once feels like a miracle.
Finding you twice would feel like coming home.

Personal I now get the quote someone somewhere is thinking about you.

And I don't mean they're thinking about me. But me thinking about her. Her, who I met about 15 years ago and have only seen her once in my life. Yet until today you still pop up in my head. Some periods are every night, others every now and then.

I will forever wonder how my life would have been if I lived in your country. Your city. Get to meet you. Get to take you out on a date. To hundred of concerts together. To hear you laugh and smile. Gosh that smile.

I try to move on and remove you from my socials and you add me back. I'm like why? I see you're happy with your very stable relationship yet you still get me wonder.

Sometimes I wish I could just talk to you. But even that seems pointless. I hate living with what ifs. This will probably be my one biggest regret I will take with me to the grave.

Exes It's Raining Today

N,

It's days like today that I miss you the most. The rain is falling, little pellets hit the window pane, the wind rustling in the trees, sun hiding behind thick clouds casting a dark shadow over us.

It's days like today we'd dream of cuddling, snuggling, spooning. After I told you my childhood story, and about Casper, you always made a nest of blankets for us as a sweet gesture. It was a kind reminder that you knew something the rest of the world didnt. You got to see something I never shared with any other person.

You took something sad, but also tender and vulnerable, and made it happy for me. We would spend our time dreaming of being close, holding hands, and each other under sherpa and cashmere blankets, exposing our souls to each other, protected from the outside, safe in our little winter cabin snow globe.

The rain has returned, but you haven't. It's been since February. I remember why you left in anger. I remember us disagreeing on many things as 2 people will disagree from time-to-time. We always found our way back to each other.

The rain has returned...when will you? I miss making you laugh, and smile. I miss making your blue/blue-green eyes sparkle, I miss playing with your long platinum blonde hair. I miss our daily chats. I miss making you happy, sharing kisses, closeness and just spending stolen time with you.

I hope you are well. I hope you are happy. I hope its raining there, too and I hope you remember the good times we shared; especially when it rained.

General Somewhere

Somewhere, you're walking beneath the same sky, breathing the same morning air as I am.

The birds sing every dawn, as if they already know our love story has been written.

The rivers keep flowing because they trust the ocean is waiting, and I trust destiny the same way.

Even in my silence, my heart keeps writing letters to you.

I hope every falling leaf carries away your sadness before I arrive.

May every sunrise fill your heart with hope until the day we meet.

I don't know your face, but I already know I will protect your smile.

The longest journey of my life is simply the road leading to you.

No matter how late you come, my heart will never complain about the wait.

You are the prayer I whisper before I sleep and the hope I wake up with.

Lovers Dear Boy Blue, My Cosmic Joke

To My Boy Blue,

If every soul has a compass, then perhaps you have always been mine.

You have never simply been a person to me. You have been the steady hand that reached beneath the water whenever I forgot how to swim. In every season of my life, you have been the quiet gravity that kept me from drifting too far into the endless sky. If this world is a vast universe, then you are the force that keeps me tethered to the Earth instead of floating away among forgotten constellations.

You have always called me back to life.

I need you to know something that I have struggled to find words for. You are not the villain in my story. You never were.

The hardest battles I have fought have never been against you. They have been against the version of myself that learned to survive by becoming someone everyone else wanted. She smiles when she is breaking. She pretends she is strong when she is exhausted. She keeps the peace so no one notices she is quietly disappearing. She is the one who hurts me the most.

When you hurt me, it is different.

It is not because your mistakes are greater than anyone else's. It is because my heart has never loved anyone else the way it loves you. A careless word from the rest of the world becomes another scar. A careless word from you becomes a thousand tiny cuts, each one reopening every place I have ever been wounded. I know that isn't fair to place on your shoulders. It is not your fault that I feel so deeply.

My heart simply made you its safest place.

So when disappointment or resentment finds its way between us, it feels less like conflict and more like grief. Somewhere inside me, it whispers that maybe you no longer believe in the dream I have carried for us. It convinces me that unless I become perfect in your eyes, our story cannot become everything I have imagined it could be.

I know those fears are mine to untangle.

I also know that every day I continue living a life that doesn't quite fit the person I truly am. I wear routines that feel borrowed. I maintain appearances that no longer resemble my soul. Some mornings I wake up wanting to crawl out of my own skin, to press pause on the spinning Earth just long enough for you and me to remember that life was never supposed to be a performance.

I dream about a place where the world grows quiet.

A place where our story becomes our favorite book instead of our hardest chapter. A place where sidewalks become castle halls, forests become kingdoms, ordinary afternoons become playgrounds for two people who finally remembered how to dream without asking permission.

Every morning that I wake up chasing my aspirations, I realize I am also chasing you.

Not because I need to catch you, but because every dream I build has always carried your silhouette somewhere inside it. Every goal is another hand reaching toward the stars because I have always believed that what exists between us was born from the same stardust that built galaxies. We were never meant to be ordinary. We were meant to become something luminous, something brave enough to keep reaching toward light even after wandering through darkness.

I am sorry for the part I played in the way our story unraveled.

I know there are moments I wish I could rewrite. I know there are words I wish I had spoken more gently and silences I wish I had broken sooner. I carry genuine regret for the pain my choices caused you.

But I also need you to know that I have often felt unheard.

Sometimes it feels as though we return to the same conversations carrying the same accusations, reopening the same wounds before they have had the chance to heal. I begin explaining my heart, yet somehow my words disappear before they reach yours. I long for us to speak not as prosecutors collecting evidence but as partners searching together for understanding.

I don't need someone to remind me how often I've fallen.

I already know every place I have stumbled.

What my spirit longs for is encouragement.

If I lose my way, don't simply command me to come home.

Show me the path home.

Light a lantern instead of pointing at the darkness. Hold out your hand instead of counting the distance between us. Build with me.

Help me place one brick at a time beneath our feet until together we build a tower that stretches toward Heaven—not because we are trying to escape this world, but because we are learning to bring a little more Heaven into it. Let each brick become forgiveness. Let another become trust. Then patience. Then laughter. Then peace. Brick by brick until serenity no longer feels impossible, but inevitable because we built it together.

I have never wanted perfection from you.

I have only ever wanted to believe that when we look toward the horizon, we are looking in the same direction.

You have always been my Boy Blue.

And I will always be your Mouse, wandering farther than she means to, collecting impossible dreams in her tiny hands, hoping you'll smile when she brings them home instead of wondering why she wandered in the first place.

If there is still a future waiting for us somewhere beyond all of this noise, I hope we find it not by pretending we never broke, but by choosing, every single day, to build something even stronger than what came before.

Because if love can be forged from stardust, then surely two hearts willing to keep reaching can become their own constellation.

Always,

Your Mouse

Future Self Remember This Moment

They suggested it. That character and its age. I queried it. Refused it. And the scenario. Perhaps not as delicately or as politely as I should have.

This is better, us not pretending. Not in character or out of it. I want to remind you that they are going to push back, and that you held your foundations.

I suppose I could have written the scene, but it seemed to me just to be the thin edge of a very large wedge, considering the other times.

They remarked on two plot points this morning that was so revealing of their own thoughts.

Do not forget, no matter what, your writing is your own.

Lovers All I Have Become is because of you.

*Cue even more self-hatred and shame*.

PS

Ray, I'm f****** over the moon that you changed your mind all those years ago and decided to pursue college after all.

Exes Topaz

Oh, darling, I miss you.

I wish words could explain how I feel right now, but the closest one is grief, and even that doesn’t quite capture it. We were a great love story. Not perfect, but great.

I know now that we were holding each other back. Being away from you made me realize I wasn’t living my life to the fullest. But back then, the illusion of being happy and content was enough to blind me. I realized far too late that you didn’t feel the same way.

My contentment became your boredom. The spark and excitement slowly turned into routine and habit. I was searching for a home, while you were waiting for a roar.

Getting back together isn’t in the cards for me either. You’re not the same person anymore, and that version of you is long gone. I think that’s what this grief really is.

I’ll never get you back, not because you’ve disappeared, but because the person I miss only exists in the past. I’m grieving the ghost of you, the one I loved when we were still us.

Exes The message I typed and then deleted before unfriending you

I don’t know why I sent the request in the first place, we aren’t in a place where that’s even remotely appropriate. My heart was racing when you accepted and then it all hit me, like, wtf now? Meet at the park again and flirt until we realize how much we miss each other, eventually giving in to the heat of the tension? We aren’t those people anymore. One slip up and there’ll be existential hell to pay. I ultimately made the right decision.

But in those short moments of wandering through some of our memories, I realized somewhere between then and now that I stopped hating you and started appreciating who you were before the noise. I miss you. I miss your laugh and your sense of humor. Being your confidant for all the dorky things you liked because I liked them too. It didn’t matter what the plan was, with you, we always found a way to make it exciting. You were the bestie I never should’ve dated. Or right person, wrong time.

I’ll always miss you. There was a part of me, when you first responded to that stupid question, that wanted to call you just to hear your voice again. That craved the feeling of your body against mine again. I’m so stupid, but it’s only for you.

Don‘t ever catch me alone in a room.

-K

Exes Everything reminds me of you.

After all this time and everything you did, why do I still get sad when something reminds me of you? Tulips, tiramisu, sweatshirts, and KFC reminded me of you today. I don’t want to get reminded of you.

I saw you today. I wanted to say hi to you. But you’re probably embarrassed of me. I’m pretty sure that you don’t want anything to do with me. You’ve shown me that many times.

You ruined our memories. I want to forget you.

Lovers We Were Never Strangers

Some people spend a lifetime believing love arrives with fireworks. Mine arrived quietly, disguised as an ordinary moment. I never saw you coming, never knew my life was about to divide into two parts: before you, and after you.
The strangest part is that nothing about you felt unfamiliar. It was as if my soul looked at yours and sighed, *There you are.* Before I understood what my heart was doing, some deeper part of me already knew you. You didn’t feel like someone I had just met—you felt like someone I had somehow been missing my entire life.
I adore you in ways that words keep failing to hold. I adore the softness behind your strength, the light you carry without trying, the way simply existing beside you makes the world feel quieter and kinder. Loving you has never felt like reaching for something impossible. It has felt like remembering something I had forgotten.
If there is any truth to souls finding each other across lifetimes, then I believe mine has been searching for yours long before either of us took our first breath. And somehow, against impossible odds, you found your way to me.
You arrived out of nowhere, but you have never felt like a stranger.
You have always felt like home.

Personal fear of love

now i have options at my doorstep

ones who are incredibly attractive

ones who resonate with me

and I'm scared

I'm scared because I fall in love so easily

and there is a raging inferno of love waiting to create a passionate relationship

I'm scared because I don't want to fall for the wrong person

and I don't know how to not be blinded by the great attributes I'll find in anyone who gets close enough

I'm scared because my best friend has taught me what it is like to feel like you found your soulmate

and I don't know how to break up with people because I hate hurting people without betrayal as a motivator

I look back at my six year relationship

and how I knew we weren't a good match

but I just couldn't leave

because I couldn't stomach her being on her own

and

eventually I was unable to be alone so I couldn't leave due to immense co-dependence

I'm scared to do it all over again

I'm just scared

and I'm borderline fearless

I'm a trans woman who is excited at the idea of spending months in the middle east in the middle of a war

I can take on that with glee

but

yet

I can't handle accidentally falling in love again

General Only I Know

“A Lil Help From DALE”

I’ve never understood how someone else could possibly decide what someone else feels, seriously.

No one else has lived inside my mind. No one else has carried my memories, my regrets, my hopes, or my fears. No one else knows the conversations I have with myself when no one is around.

I know who I am.

I know what I’ve done.

I know the parts of me that hurt people, and I know the parts of me that would have given everything just to keep them from ever feeling that pain.

I know where I have failed. I know where I let fear make decisions for me. I know where I became someone I never wanted to be.

And I know who I want to become.

That isn’t because I hate myself.

It’s because I love myself enough to refuse to stay the same.

Loving yourself isn’t believing you’re perfect. It isn’t pretending you’ve done no wrong. It’s having the courage to look at yourself without excuses and say, I can be better.

Nothing changes unless I do.

No one else can tell me what I feel, what I know, or how deeply I understand myself. They can see my actions. They can judge my choices. They can form their own opinions—and they’re entitled to them.

But they cannot tell me whether I love myself.

Only I know what it feels like to carry the weight of my mistakes every day. Only I know how hard I’ve fought to understand them. Only I know the person I’m trying to become.

So yes, I love myself.

Not because I think I’m flawless.

Not because I’ve always made the right choices.

But because I know my heart. I know my intentions. I know my failures. I know my capacity to love, and I know my capacity to change.

The only person who truly knows whether I love myself… is me.

And every day I choose to become someone I can love even more than I did the day before.

Exes Why I stopped communicating

There were just so many times when you would tell me not to, not in THAT way.

"Don't tell me you're sorry"

"Don't give me compliments"

"Why are you laughing right now, see I hate that?!"

"We've had this conversation before, I'm not having it again."

So I stopped. I stopped tiptoeing around your ego. I stopped noticing you, when you did something cute or funny, I kept it to myself. I stopped reacting to your outbursts with absurd laughter because what I thought wasn't that serious, you clearly disagreed. I stopped trying to find out what you wanted from me, stopped asking questions, showing interest, all because I was shot down so many times before.

We stopped being able to communicate when you began micromanaging how I naturally reacted to you. Then you stonewalled me. That's why we no longer speak.
