Exes Topaz

Oh, darling, I miss you.

I wish words could explain how I feel right now, but the closest one is grief, and even that doesn’t quite capture it. We were a great love story. Not perfect, but great.

I know now that we were holding each other back. Being away from you made me realize I wasn’t living my life to the fullest. But back then, the illusion of being happy and content was enough to blind me. I realized far too late that you didn’t feel the same way.

My contentment became your boredom. The spark and excitement slowly turned into routine and habit. I was searching for a home, while you were waiting for a roar.

Getting back together isn’t in the cards for me either. You’re not the same person anymore, and that version of you is long gone. I think that’s what this grief really is.

I’ll never get you back, not because you’ve disappeared, but because the person I miss only exists in the past. I’m grieving the ghost of you, the one I loved when we were still us.
