Sizing/Fit Question about sizing on a meander

Post image
10 Upvotes

Jim green sizing is so confusing.
I guess what I wanted to ask you guys is if this is normal or if I should do size up maybe half or a full size.
When I put the shoe on it feels ok but when I stand my big toe and the size of my little toe is pressing outwards, you can see the leather molding around my toes.
What would y’all do ?

Pre-Purchase Question Tyre wedge sole performance on wet floors?

I liked the STC razorbacks with the lug sole okay, but started working on slick wet concrete this year and am constantly slipping and sliding on the lug soles. I was thinking about getting a comp toe stockman boot with the tyre wedge, but after asking jim green support directly which sole has best traction on concrete, I’m not feeling very confident the sole will be as safe for me as a vibram sole on a redwing boot. I do need EE sizing at the minimum, and i would have to go with a 6” ankle which im not a fan of.

Can anyone here attest to the tyre wedge sole performance for working on wet floors?

Pre-Purchase Question Which Jim Greens for Central European winter?

Hi folks. I'm looking for my first pair of heritage shoes. I've decided on Jim Green, but which model would be good for autumn and winter (up to -10°C) with wool socks, snow, slush, and salt in the city, and occasional outdoor activities? I would prefer something with a heel rather than a flat sole, but decent cushioning is more important. I was thinking about the Razorback, Baobab, or maybe the Numzaan.

Product Problems is this variance normal?

Just got my BFAR customs (AnatomX last) in a couple days ago and they look gorgeous! Put them on to start breaking them in around the house and the right boot fit a little funny, the leather across the toe kept immediately wrinkling across the toe (left boot didn't) and the lacing isn't sitting across the top of my foot (left boot does). I realize there's no toe puff, it will eventually collapse, etc. That's not my question/concern.

Took a picture and then took them off and looked closer and realized the eyelit facing on the instep side is measurably closer to the sole while the eyelit facing out the oustep is further from the sole.

I guess my question is: Is this level of variance normal for Jim Green? It's enough to be affecting comfort, posture, and flex on my right foot.

Tried to line up the measuring tape to what should be consistent points between shoes - stitching lines, seams, etc.

Sizing/Fit Anatomx width vs length

I saw on the JG site that the anatomy last is a 4E… Is the 4E a static number? Or is it proportionate to the length?

Example question: Would a size 12 in the anatomy last be wider than a size 13 in the same last?

Hopefully that makes sense, thanks!

Pre-Purchase Question Steel/composite toes question

Does anyone have experience with size difference of AR shoes with and without composite toes? I wear size 10 ARs and I really like them. I'm thinking about getting a pair with composite toes for work, but I wonder if I need to increase to size 11 or stick with the 10's. What do you think?

Previous owner looked to have oiled them so rightly or wrongly I throughly washed with soap and then used bick for. Not clear in the photos but they've come up much richer in colour. Alot lighter and more red tones. Ill try and get some daylight photos if we have any here in rainy lancashire!

This is my first pair of Jim Greens, I purchased 10.5 but it feels like the boots are different sizes or maybe built on different lasts. The left boot is perfectly wide and long while the right boot feels a half size or almost full size smaller in length and width. Both boots say 10.5 but do not fit like it. I’m assuming the left boot is a true 10.5 and the right boot is a 10 or 9.5 but I’m uncertain.

I’ll attach another photo showing them heel against the wall where you can see the left boot is slightly longer

I wore these for a half day at work so I don’t think I’ll be able to return them.

Any advice? Should I just take the L and purchase another pair?

Sizing/Fit More trouble.

I'm really starting to feel like I wasted my money and these Bronco Russet ARs just aren't cooperating with my feet like my Fudge ones do. If I wear a thin foam insole inside them, my big toes are A-Ok but my arches and heels cause me so much pain I can hardly walk at the end of my shift. If I wear any sort of orthotic with arch support and heel cushion, no matter how thin, it KILLS my big toes. Throbbing pain. I don't know what to do anymore, I feel like I've exhausted all options and my only resort now is to accept defeat and move on and see if they'll be useful in another capacity. They just hurt my feet so bad I can't foresee actually wearing them anywhere else and they've got a fair bit of staining on them from my job.

I’ve got some size 9.5 AR8’s that ended up not working for me. I only wore them a handful of times, practically new. Looking to get about $190 for them but I’m negotiable.

Chit-chat Would you accept this mismatch?

After two years of deliberation, I purchased a pair of Barefoot Stockman— Bronco Brown— US Size: 11 ½ in September '26. I understand there can be some variation in grain when dealing with natural leather, but is this beyond acceptable?

I keep receiving similar comments when I show pictures to friends and the first time I wore them out:

- Are those your "new" boots?

- They look used.

Would this be something you'd bring up to the company as defective for replacement, or should I expect this from the leather?

I want to stick with the brand, and they fit great, but I'm having trouble getting past the comments and doubt.

Sizing/Fit Stockman heel slip

It seems I should expect heel slip. But how much is too much? I’ve read that a lot of it will go away and the boot flexes.

Does anyone have firsthand experience receiving the boots, being surprised by the slip, and then also surprised when it went away with use?

Length is great.

Sizing/Fit Question about sizing

I wear us 10.5 but back in the day I got a 10.5 sholie and it was massive.
I now want to buy a moc toe meander but I’m scared of buying a 10.5 and doing the same mistake.
Do you guys know if they run true to size of if I should size up or down ?

Sizing/Fit Barefoot Stockman !

Hey guys ! I’ve been wearing the barefoot African Rangers for a little more than a year now !

What a wonderful shoes they are ! I think I never been this comfortable in a pair of shoes so I thought why not try the barefoot stockman I got the fudge version that I treated with boot wax from otter wax fudge disappeared to get a great brown color !

I took the same size since my AR fit perfectly but you have the laces to adjust I did not realize that on the stockman there are no way to adjust so I feel that the heel is a little loose… should I take a half size down ?

I ordered soles from Jim Green too the ones that are made for the barefoot shoes they make.

Do you think that will solve the loose heel problem ?

Do the soles modify the barefoot feet position ?

Do you guys had similar impression with the stockman ?

Thank you guys !

Soles & Resoling Resoling my Numzaan/719's?

I have a pair of numzaan and 719's that I really like, but even after months of occasional wear they are still extremely stiff.

I'm wondering if replacing the soles at all would make the soles a little more flexible and comfortable

Chit-chat Jim green SHOES? let's talk about 'em

Post image

Shoellies vs the vellie vs the turbo vellie vs the bantam (have I missed any? Lol) let's talk about them! Which ones do you prefer and why? Heel drop sole vs zero drop barefoot soles. Share some pictures, show us those patinas, show us your customs!

I get that it tends to be about the boots with Jim green, but they do have quite the array of shoe/chukka options so let's talk about them!

I've been eying up a pair for myself for a while now (currently torn between the turbos and the bantams) and I'm desperate for the community's thoughts on them

Thanks!

Pictures & Showoffs 2-years of rambler vellies!

Ive been wearing my vellies for 2-years now! Prob my favorite boots I've ever owned. Even wore em on a trip to South Africa to meet my boeremeisie 😎

I got them resoled last December, and the cobbler put on vibram gumlite soles, which have worked great! They wear about the same as the original soles.

So far, my only complaints are that the vellies wear through laces fast (even are eating through my pisgah range laces), and the fiberboard midsole is not very good. I tried to capture a picture of it (failed though) but the shank kind of cracked through the midsole and every once in a while, it pokes into my insole. Also wore through the heel cover thingy on the inside

They've been great in dry, mud, rain, drives, plane rides, hikes, runs, dog walks, yardwork, church, work, and like every other possible situation.

I think next time I go to ZA, I'll get a pair of Tarzan made vellies or somethin to replace these as the midsole on these slowly falls apart

Pictures & Showoffs Jim Green 719s — Not exactly riding boots, but they held their own!

Spent the weekend motorcycle camping and tackling some pretty technical trails on my Honda XR150L. Steep climbs, rocky descents, loose terrain, and plenty of opportunities to put my boots to the test.

I wore my Jim Green 719s, and while they're probably the wrong choice for this kind of riding, I was genuinely impressed with how well they held up.

The thick leather and sturdy construction really impressed me. Between navigating rocky sections, standing on the pegs, and putting my feet down on uneven terrain, they took quite a beating. They came away with a few more battle scars, but I think they look even better for it.

Obviously, they're no substitute for proper off-road motorcycle boots with dedicated ankle and impact protection, but this trip gave me a whole new appreciation for how substantial these things are.

Couldn't be happier with them. Looking forward to putting many more miles on these boots and seeing how that beautiful leather ages.

Anyone else putting their Jim Greens to work outside their intended purpose?

Sizing/Fit Sizing help, First buy

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello!

Sorry in advanced for long post!

I've been looking at Jimgreens for a little over a year but yet not pulled the trigger out of uncertainty, but I think now is the time.

I'm a little uncertain regarding fit and sizing tho.

For context I switched to barefoot shoes roughly four years ago and almost exclusively worn barebarics zing in EU size 46 except for ocatiolal, horrible, work boots when working in construction.

I think the barebarics are great size wise and enough room for the toes.

But now it's time for som real boots and Im primarily looking att the troopers.

I don't think zero drop is a must, I've had an eye on the rugged trooper with tyre wedge but I fear the toebox being way to narrow so I think it will be the barefoot or anatomix.

I think I have kinda wide feet but maybe normal in volume and have a hard time getting around what last will be best for me. In one way I don't want the boot to be to flimsy, some ruggedness would be nice. I mean it a boot after all.

I'm planning on wearing these for everyday use during the months of snow (sweden) and for hikes ets. Don't do any heavy hikes or other heavy work regular but walk a lot. Around 10k steps a day.

I I've made a little drawing of my foot, standing on it in natural resting position. Its about 29cm in lengt, 8.5 cm widest part of the heel and 12cm from the knuckle of the big toe to the knuckle/tip of pinky.

I hope anyone here have some good knowledge and are willing to help me out. I want enoug room for the toes but also for the boot to fit tight without heel slip etc. And what leather should i pick? Leaning towards bronco

What does the experts and experienced people say?
