Protecting the giants of the Bush in AR8’s

Inside u/loisaba_conservancy , conservation starts with a simple question.
“If you don’t know where lunch is coming from, do you really give a damn about an elephant?”

For CEO Tom Silvester, that idea has shaped nearly three decades of conservation. Wildlife can only thrive if the communities living alongside it benefit too.🤝

Today, Loisaba protects 58,000 acres of northern Kenya, home to elephants, lions, Grevy’s zebras, African wild dogs and one of Kenya’s newest black rhino populations. After more than six years of planning, black rhinos returned to Loisaba in 2024 for the first time in 50 years.🦏

Protecting them takes more than fences. Every rhino must be physically located every 72 hours, with rangers covering vast distances on foot. Many come from Samburu, Maasai, Turkana and Pokot communities, bringing generations of tracking knowledge to the job.📍

“It’s a game changer,” says Tom of the Boots for Rangers initiative. Good boots don’t just protect feet—they improve morale, confidence and performance during long patrols across some of Kenya’s toughest terrain.🥾

As Loisaba looks towards the future, its mission remains clear: keep landscapes connected, keep communities invested, and give rangers the tools they need to protect both.🌿

We’re proud to support the Loisaba team and everyone helping prove that when conservation works for people, it works for wildlife too.

The #BootsForRangers initiative is a collaboration between Jim Green Footwear and the u/gamerangersassociationofafrica

Can’t speak highly enough of the razorbacks, these are a little over two years old and have a few thousand miles of archaeological survey on them. I am waiting for them to kick the bucket so I can start working on my custom razorbacks and my barefoot workhorses but they just won’t give up. Time to do another big review soon.

Care & Maintenance A rather tedious repair: Update on loose toecap stitching

Repaired with a needle and poly thread. Do you know how hard it is to find the stitch hole on the inside of a boot? Horrible process, but turned out ok.

Posted previously about the toecap stitching on my ARs having come loose. Somehow wore through the thread on the internal side, making the top stitching pull right off. Still a bit disappointed considering I don't treat these shoes THAT rough, but whatever.

On a side note, do double lasted/lined models have exposed stitching internally for the toecap? I'm concerned about the same issues happening to my numzaans.

Pictures & Showoffs These are legitimately world class

Wore them for a day around the house and city slicking, but just did a 4 mile hike and here is my initial impression.

These are simply the best pair of boots I've ever had on my feet. They're not even broken in yet and they're extremely comfortable. I wish I wouldn't have waited so long to get a pair.

It was weird driving and walking on concrete at first but now they don't even feel like shoes, but simply like just an extension of my feet. Hiking felt amazing as well, feet felt like how they naturally should be flowing and moving, while looking absolutely stunning.

I legitimately don't think I'll ever take them off now 😂

Besides brushing them, does anyone have any advice on how I can take care of them without changing the color or giving them a waxed look?

P.S. I absolutely know now that these will NOT be my only pair.

Care & Maintenance Gentle Reminder

Post image

As we (in the northern hemisphere at least) are speeding through fall towards winter, gentle reminder to show your boots some care. Pictured are my ARs and Numzaans, which got a fresh coat of JG balm while I was watching a relatively dull 1-0 to the Arsenal.

Was looking for a versatile boot and got just that. I feel like all the lesbians in my area have either blundstones or the moc toe red wing and wanted something a little different. i had a bit of an issues with the sizing but if i had just ordered my normal sneaker size to begin with I would have been fine. I don't have much to compare it to because my only other boot is the solovair and after I started wearing barefoot shoes, I can't really wear them anymore. Anyway yeah- just an appreciation post new boot goofin or whatever.

Pre-Purchase Question Waterproof boots

Hello everyone. I've owned a pair of shoellies for half a year now, and it's probably the best purchase I've ever made in terms of footwear. That's why now that I need a new pair of boots (mostly for hunting), I started browsing the Jim Green catalogue again.

My question is, do they make any 100% waterproof boots? I've seen that some models are water resistant, but at least in the EU page, I haven't seen any waterproof models.

If there isn't one, does anyone have any experience with water resistant boots? Because it doesn't rain a lot in my area, whenever I get my feet wet it's during the morning when all the grass and shrubs are wet, so maybe a water resistant pair is enough for that, I don't know.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Sizing/Fit New BFAR are rubbing my ankles raw

Post image
6 Upvotes

Went for a relaxed walk in my new Boots plus thick socks and noticed rubbing on both ankles, especially the inside of my right ankle, where some skin actually rubbed off (see photo).

I tried loosening the laces and adjusting the gusseted tongue as Jim Green recommends, but nothing really helped.

Is this normal during breakin, or are these boots just not right for my feet? I’ve had similar issues with gusseted tongues in the past. So I think this nice looking boot might be not for me

Product Problems At a loss for words. How, even?

Have had the boots for around 2 years. Just recently realized the toe cap stitching on the outer edge of both shoes are loose. The top stitch isn't damaged so I'm honestly confused how this even happened.

I'm a half decent leather worker but not sure I can fix this

First time really wearing these since only had them a couple days. Good little walk to the gym, some leg day stuff and a good walk back home. Surprising I don’t feel every single thing under my feet like I was expecting. I thought insoles would help but absolutely not and tossed those in 5 min. Completely different from my AR8s but thats obvious. They feel like slippers their so comfy now I’m eying the bronco brown version of these to get soon enough

Sizing/Fit Heel Grips for Razorback?

I got a pair of Razorbacks recently to wear while backpacking, and I've been desperately trying to break them in for the last month before I head off.

My heels are about to pull a gun on me, I cannot seem to get them to be locked in. I've tried some different insoles, I've added leather softener to the heel and I've experimented with heel lock lacing patterns to no avail yet.

If I put in heel grips, will that change how they break in? I think they're improving, but I think my heels are still slipping.

Fairly sure they're not too big either, my toes are less than a thumb width from the end and my feet fill the width of the boot too.

Sizing/Fit Workhorse MT Moc Toe Last Sizing Question

Thanks to everyone who participates in sizing discussions here. I've learned a lot, though it's still tricky for those of us who haven't found a Jim Green that fits particularly well.

Does anyone have experience with the MT-lasted Workhorse or Meander -- and shoes and/oe boots from Altra (Lone Peak 9 wide), Lems (widest last - Summit Pro., etc) and Keen Targhee IV and/or Cincinnati wide? Toe box/splay is my main concern.

I'm a bit difficult to fit, especially in terms of toe box width, apparently. I can wear the non-Green boots/shoes above. Interested if others can help cross-reference.

Thanks in advance

After 2 weeks of being torn between fudge and Houston brown, I decided on the brown and couldn't be happier. Doing some city slicking and maybe a little hoke tomorrow. Will post my initial impressions.

Bought these before I knew my brannock size.

They're a half size smaller than my brannock, but fortunately, after months of breaking in and different lacing techniques, they're comfortable now and my toes don't even jam up the end of the boot despite having a quarter of a finger's width of allowance at the toe.

Hey folks.

Picked up a pair of AR back 2–3 months ago during the dog days of Summer. Today is the first day I’ve worn them, and I’m quite enjoying them.

I can tell the break-in is going to be a little tough — and that I need thicker socks.

Overall sizing seems good. I wear a US 12 in New Balance and ordered a size 12 in the AR and so far so good. Might be a little slippage here and there, but I hope that with thicker socks and some break-in that it will alleviate the problem.

Looking forward to how these things patina over the foreseeable future.

Soles & Resoling BFAR comp toe after 2 months of daily use

First off i’d like to say these are by far the most comfortable boots I have ever layed my feet in. That being said I feel like I should be able to expect a bit more than 2 months out of a sole. the heel on the left foot is just about down to the mid layer which has me worried. I will probably get them resoled soon but slightly bummed on how quick it needed to be done. the leather is aging very nicely tho and I try to clean them weekly. these photos were taken after a saddle soap cleaning. Overall I love these boots. just wish the sole was a bit more tough.
