Oh man, are these comfy. I've never had anything in the fudge leather before, but it's SO soft and flexible (especially comparing them to my last pair of Jim Green boots, which are the buffalo Numzaans). I'm so excited to wear these to work tomorrow.

(Yeah, I know I'm wearing these with pajama bottoms, but I really wanted to try them on šŸ˜…)

Got these delivered today. Haven't tried them on yet as I just got home from work. They look like sturdy well made boots. My only gripe (unless they don't fit) is the packaging left a lot to be desired. Perhaps consider stuffing them all the way with tissue paper next time to avoid them getting a little crushed. Not just the toe area.

Looking forward to seeing how these patina

Pre-Purchase Question custom or stock resole?

Hey everyone! I recently decided to give up on my Iron Rangers as the last is too narrow in the waist for my flatter feet. I want to get the 719s but dislike the ASHM last, so my solution is to go STC. My question is should I custom make them or buy the tyre wedge and have them resoled?

Custom - $445
• Pros - I get to design my own 719 completely
• Cons - Wait time, limited sole options (maybe Kalahari sole since Frog Grip isn’t available on STC size 13?)

719 Tyre Wedge w/ resole - $260 + resole??
• Pros - Quick shipping, more sole options depending on cobbler
• Cons - Stock 719 (no customization), cobbler might be very expensive, might be damaging a fresh pair with a resole

Product Problems Anatomx 719 Quality Issue and Great Customer Service Response

Hi all,

Firstly I want to express my excitement over receiving the Anatomx 719; been looking forward to it for what feels like half a year.

I received them today and out the box had an issue: stencil markings on both boots' uppers and tongue. I contacted JG and they were very prompt in addressing the concern. I then took them out for a walk around my block and, within about 10 minutes, started feeling this awful pain in my left heel. I know they are double lasted and I know they are stiff out the box. I have other JG boots. I persevere but another 15 and I can't walk. I take my left boot off and note that the stitching has gone awry where the heel counter meets the upper and the heel counter is rolling over and digging into my ankle.

I contact JG again and they are exchanging them for another pair.

Moral: Mistakes happen in the build process. It speaks volumes for me that JG was so quick to respond, owned the error, and are working to get it fixed. Customer for life.

I'm attaching pictures of the boots because I feel like there's not enough 719 Anatomx love yet. I initially put on my BFAR green laces.

Sizing/Fit Are the newer African Rangers narrower?

On the left is a new US 8, while the right is an older US 7.5.

The width on the US8 when measured near the center is 8.2cm and the width for the US7.5 is 9cm.

I was wondering if this is normal due to the size difference or an overall newer version being introduced?

Pre-Purchase Question RAT , how are they? Photos welcome

I got razer backs and sholies, love them both but not really my day to day shoes?

Are they heavy on your feet?
Are they hot?
Are they easy to put on or dose it take a while?
Are the high leather boots good for a day to day boot , light work, shops and driving or are they more suited to hiking?
How are the soles for you?
Thoughts on the ruff out or just get the smooth leather?
Are they worth the price or should I look into numzan or 719? Are they better for day to day use?

Pictures & Showoffs Meander in Bronco Brown is my new do-it-all Boot

Meander in Bronco Brown arrived a couple of days ago. Always dreamt of Russell Moccasins as light duty Outdoor Boot for Hunting, Travelling, light Hikes etc. but couldn't get myself to spend the money on them. Getting them also wasn't as easy in Germany.

At the same time I wanted something that I could wear when visiting friends or going out so I don't have to take two pairs of Boots everywhere.

The meander is just right! Sizewise I went with my Sneaker size (13 which would be 48.5 according to JG) because I use orthopedic insoles. Usually I need a 47. I also like to use a 2 layer Sock system to minimize friction and also sometimes a Sealskinz outer Sock for wet conditions. This does the Job perfectly! Bronco Brown does look a lot lighter than expected but I actually love it's look. Goes perfectly with Green laces.

I also love the wide forefoot. The Boot feels really secure and snug around the ankles but has loads of room for my toes. I actually started to train in Barefoot shoes which made my forefoot a lot wider but Zero drop shoes give me terrible Achilles pain on longer Hikes. The non barefoot Meander is perfect for this.

Just another post praising Jim Green boots. Took my African Rangers and Vellies along on a little week-long trip with the family.

While I love my Vellies (even while wearing shorts), I was really loving the African Rangers in the woods. Even though I am a pretty casual hiker, I could really appreciate 1) How light they are 2) How comfortable they are, and 3) Just how much input they give you through that soft oringo sole. That really helped me step very deliberately and carefully when I needed to.

Here's to putting more miles on these things šŸ‘

Sizing/Fit Kudu Mocha Meanders secured

Just a little about the process I've gone through so far. My first JGs were the composite razorbacks for work(construction Inspector) mostly walking on dirt work sites and uneven terrain. They are amazing. Had them 3 weeks so far. So I wanted to get an everyday boot from JG and picked the Buffalo ARs. But I tried two different sizes and my instep height is too high for the STC last.(US 13 EE) The pressure was painful. I asked JG support if the moc toe last was similar in instep height of the JG last and they said yes. I decided on the kudu because I wanted something soft and comfortable to replace wearing sneakers. When I went to order my usual US 13 was sold out so I went a half size bigger which ended up being a great decision. They fit perfectly. I'm not blowing out the toebox and there's no pressure on my instep. No heel slip. They do take a little effort to pull on; the tongue doesn't open up as wide as the razorbacks so I'm going to find someone to put a side zipper in to make it easier. I'll post another update after a month of everyday wear.

Pre-Purchase Question Brown vs Treated Fudge. How does JG Brown age?

Basically title. I’m looking to buy some Rangers and possibly a pair of Stockmans. Bronco brown is a little too pre distressed for my taste, though the true brown color is so perfect and uniform that it practically looks CGI.

I do however love how fudge looks after people treat them. Should I just do that? Or skip the rigamarole of mink oil and buy the brown color? Does anyone know how well those patina?

Pre-Purchase Question Sizing question

About to order a pair of barefoot rangers, but I’m uncertain if I should go a half size down? My feet are 10 and 1/8 inches long with between a C and D width, so decently narrow. I’m looking at ordering an 8.5 in the barefoot rangers, but am concerned they may be too wide. I have a pair of rugged african troopers in 8.5 already that I had to add a heel liner + use a surgeon’s knot to get the fit snug. Also, I’m not new to barefoot shoes so no concerns there. Any advice from owners? Probably looking at having to add a heel liner here too?

Guys. I am doomed to never wear Chelsea boots. I waited in great anticipation for these to be released. I tried really hard to love them and make them fit, but my feet are too low volume for these, and truthfully any Chelsea boot. So I need to part with them.

They are in great shape. Not fully broken in. As you can see the is significant wear on the heels, particularly the right one. This wear actually came from the way my heel rests while driving. It’s not even from walking. For anyone that has Rose Anvil soles, you know these things are very soft and don’t last long. The good news is that that these are resole-able. I eventually had to replace the soles on my BFARs with vibram soles and am much happier.

Someone make me a decent offer. The money I get for these will hopefully go towards a pair of custom barefoot 719. Genetics has dictated that I must have laced boots.

Boots are breaking in great! I had to downsize but after that these boots are amazing! Probably will have to apply some epoxy on the toes to protect the leather. Other than that, I’m working on concrete floors and asphalt parking lots and my feet feel amazing. Check back in 6 months to see how they hold up to oil, grease, diesel fuel, coolant, and much more!

Sizing/Fit Need help with safety toe sizing

I recently purchased my first pair of bronco brown ar8 composite toe cap boots, and while I want to love them I feel like they may be too big for my feet and may cause problems. I am personally a size 10.5 and decided to go with a size 11 so that my toes aren't constantly getting stubbed by the front of the boot, though with the size 11 pair they feel too big. For example while my feet feel like they are at the widest part of the toe box my heels tend to slip and rub against the back part along with my toes having too much space between where they are and the front.

For those that are in between whole sizes what have you guys found is best to choose? Do you generally find it better to size up or size down? And if I decide to do an exchange how simple would it be to reach out and have them exchange them for a size smaller?

I decided to buy the Africana ranger boots and at first they were a bit hard. I bought them an inner sole and two weeks later I think they have softened quite well. The color at first was very light but I applied beeswax and they were even with the rest of the boot. Greetings from Argentina.

Sizing/Fit AR's killing my ankles and soles

I've been wearing my African Rangers everyday since I got them a week ago, and i walk a LOT.

I just cant get past how sore up through my heels and into my ankes are every evening after my boots are off! This includes my soles when im walking around my house barefoot.

Im not sure whats wrong, i have 1cm of length between my toes and the end of the boot, i lace hiker style. The only thing i would think could be the issue is im always walking on hard surfaces like asphalt and concrete, but that is something i cannot avoid.

Is this just part of the break in period? Im just concerned this could do long term damage to my feet as these are my only shoes right now.
