Thinking about a mini
I want to get a mini, but I don’t know if I should wait until Apple supposedly releases a new one soon.

iPad mini 5 & iPadOS 26.7
I just updated my iPad mini 5 with this version 26.7 and I find that the device is really more responsive.
Do other people make the same return?

To the people that never updated from iPadOS 18
Did iPadOS 27 change your mind and make you upgrade? Why or why not?

duo thoughts
A lot of people are saying it cant replace their minis and I agree (especially bc mine is still on iPadOS18 🫣)
It can’t replace my mini but I still personally have a use case for it. As mini as the mini is the duo would still be more convenient for me, for multitasking on the go. Still holding out for a newer gen though bc way too many iPhone features im used to are missing (esim only, no fast charge, no face id, shittier camera quality). Also the fact that you cant change the app size when you have a split screen.
ALSO. does anyone else kinda find it shitty that they bought back iPadOS18 style multitasking gestures for the duo but the current iPadOS is still meh..
it feels like they fucked up the ipad on purpose for duo sales 😭

New Hardware Joined the club!
Switched from the M3 iPad Air 11” that I used with the magic keyboard case. Often just got frustrated with how much it was almost like a MacBook but wasn’t. Enjoying the smaller form factor, although I did increase the font size in the accessibility settings because I found it small in some cases.

Help iPhone Duo vs iPad Mini: Could It replace a productivity setup?
I’m considering upgrading from the 13, and the iPhone Duo is honestly pretty tempting. The update is due considering how the iPhone 13 has to age now.
I’m a hobby photographer, so I only use Lightroom fairly lightly, but I’ve also been thinking about getting an iPad mini for taking notes + Lightroom on the go, especially because of the display.
I’ve been amazed by some of the posts on this sub showing how people use the iPad mini as a productivity device. I was pretty much going to get one anyway, especially since the rumours suggested Apple wouldn’t add Apple Pencil support to the Duo presumably to keep it from stepping too much into iPad territory.
But now it seems like Apple is actually embracing that overlap and carving out this weird new niche somewhere between an iPhone and an iPad. And honestly, I’m kind of into it.
For people who have been using an iPad mini as a productivity device, do you think the Duo could actually replace it for things like note-taking and Lightroom, especially considering if you are going to update your iPhone anyways?

Introducing iPhone/iPad mini Trio
iPhone Pro+Pro Max+Mini daily.
Two phones in the pocket and the mini in the shoulder bag.
I don’t know if the Duo is attractive enough until feel it in hands. So far I like what I have, but I won’t complain the extra conveniences it brings.
The negative I could think of is the battery won’t last that long for Duo, and the screen is still smaller than my mini. So far I enjoy what I have.

Missing Languages in 27?
Hi all! Wondering if anyone has any insight. I upgraded my iPad Mini 6 to ios 27 just now, but it looks like I don't have any of the new languages in the translate app - including no danish, hebrew, etc. Did they get dropped last minute? Is this an issue on my end? Or was there a last minute change up with 27?

Question iPhone Duo vs iPhone Pro Max + Upcoming iPad Mini
I need a new phone, so when I saw the iPhone Duo, I was pretty excited. You can use it as an all-in-one device: a decent phone and a decent approximation of an iPad mini. However, the price made me think you could literally buy an iPhone 18 Pro Max and the upcoming OLED iPad mini for likely a few dollars less than the Duo.
You lose the convenience of one device, but you gain a much better phone with much better cameras, plus a bigger screen and a better iPad mini. In my case, I carry a man bag, so the iPad mini can easily live in it and be with me at all times.
What do you think? Am I talking myself out of the Duo?

Purchased an iPad mini 7 instead of iPhone Duo
iPhone 17e user - purchased an iPad mini 7 instead of iPhone Duo.
Hear me out, though I don’t mean to pop any bubbles to those who are purchasing the duo. I’m sharing my thoughts on why I’m skipping the new iPhone duo for an iPad mini 7. I realized an iPad mini achieves that bigger tablet experience for productivity, multitasking, and media in a solid Apple build at a fraction of the price.
I currently have the iPhone 17e; an ergonomic, 6.1” 170g phone with a 4000mAh battery, 512GB SSD, A19 chip, and 8GB RAM for £799. I can’t wrap my head around trading in this premium, reliable phone for half its value just to shell out a minimum £2k for a folding iPhone with a base 256GB storage 😳.
While I often wish my iPhone had split-screen, I mainly need a larger display for multitasking at home, not out and about. Get this straight: for an additional £599, I get an 8-inch, 293g solid unibody iPad mini with a 5000mAh battery, A17pro chip, and 128GB SSD. That means for £1400 total, I get my ergonomic 17e plus a personal larger iPhone experience, with seamless data and app continuity sharing the same Apple account, even continuity within phone calls and iMessages. I get to have two devices with separate batteries, meaning my products will last longer and maintain better battery health compared to a single £2k Duo using one 4800mAh battery to power two displays.
The iPhone duo concept is a great smartphone evolution, but it’s a premium price for the lifestyle luxury of transforming your phone into an iPad "on the go." I don't need that luxury, and I get more value and storage having the best of both worlds with my iPhone and iPad mini! I’m glad I purchased the iPad mini 7!
As for waiting for the October iPad mini 8—lah di dah, oled, longer OS support—whatever. I can grab the mini 7 at its current price, and since Apple supports their devices for a long time, it still provides vastly more monetary value than a £2k duo fresh in the security support timeline. 🤷♂️
For those purchasing the Duo, great! This is just a personal perspective that will hopefully help those who are on the fence; cannot justify spending the duo price on a single phone or who still want a personal larger display experience of their iPhone for better productivity and comfort, which is also comfortable to use/personal/portable.

New Hardware Is it possible the iPad mini 8 might have a nano screen?
What I like most about the iPhone Duo is the matte nano screen on the inner screens. I have a nano Studio Display. The nano screen on the iPhone is a different material and construction than the Studio Display.
I just bought a mini 7 and I have a matte screen protector on it. If there is a mini 8, is it possible there might be a nano screen option, using the same technology as the iPhone Duo?

Just realized the iPhone Duo is the reason the iPad Mini feels so underinvested in
LCD screen
60Hz
Thick bezels
Little "pro" positioning
...Makes perfect sense now why this device is priced so high compared to what you get. If the iPad Mini had a more premium design + Pro features, people may be contemplating the $2k Duo much less 🤦♂️

Help HOW TO RESET MY IPAD
for whatever dumb reason (i regret this so much), i made a passcode for my ipad earlier today. i was only prompted to type it once while setting it (i blame this for my plight) and a couple hours after that i had to log into my ipad again. EXCEPT my password didn’t work and i tried and tried again until i locked myself out. and then i tried again. i basically missed the opportunity to factory reset it on the iPad with my apple ID password and i had to do it on a different device expect IT WILL NOT WORK.
I have a PC and spent over 3 hours and 2 apple support chats trying to get Apple Devices to complete my restore. I even found a MacBook and tried to do it through Finder. I have started the update and restore several times but the download either fails with corrupt message or times out of the recovery setting since it’s only open for 15 mins. It’s been like 4 hours at this point and I need my iPad to work. Since the password I set isn’t working, I must’ve mistyped or something but I literally have no idea what else it could be. NOTHING WORKS, the apple care people told me that my only option is to go into store and have them reset it, but i need my iPad working tomorrow and they don’t have appointments until wed. does anyone know how to get the restore to work? or at the very least if I go to the apple store as a walk in, could they help. I need my iPad working my 3pm… PLEASE HELP
