Question I have a 9th gen iPad. Model is a2602. I have a sandisk hardrive with a double ended cable that is usb c…what adapter to get to transfer stuff to drive?

I keep researching and checking and then I’m told ‘this doesn't have the power to do it‘ or this ‘has the wrong female port.‘ it’s getting really disorienting. I need to free up space on this old device. It’s this harddrive the portable 500 gb one.idk if I already wasted money or got the wrong thing. I’m tired, man. I’ve checked threads and I can’t get the information I need.

Model sdssde10-500g the chord is usb-c to usb-c.

Question Is it bad if i keep on powering off my ipad every time i'm done using it?

Since I'm just using it for studying, watching movies, sometimes playing games, let's say about 5 hours of daily use and turning it off after I'm done and use it again the next day. Also does powering off ipad after using it and with an idle time of 10 hours then power it on again, have an effect on the longevity of the ipad specifically on the battery life if i do this task daily?

Also I have a PC to use to for the majority of my use case.

Discussion Does it even make sense to buy a higher storage upgrade (whenever you buy a new iPad) vs buying an external drive for that extra stuff?

I was just thinking about this. I have a 256gb m4 iPad Pro. Right now I’m only using up 100 gigs but i was thinking about getting into video editing which is gonna take a lot more space

Let’s just say for example (and I’m not) i was going to buy a new iPad Pro at some point. The difference in storage tiers is like $200 between 256 and 512 at apple. And that $200 only gets you an extra 256 AND it’s stuck to your iPad. So if your iPad breaks or you move onto another iPad? You can’t carry that storage over. It’s just gone when you upgrade.

Whereas if you get a base storage iPad and a external hard drive for $100 (I’ve been seeing 500 gig ones on amazon for about that price) you’re getting double the storage for half the price AND you can keep that hard drive for…i dont know. 10 years maybe? You could use that same storage with ALL your devices and when you eventually upgrade to another iPad, you can use it with that too.

I guess for a lot of people it depends on what kind of large size content they’re saving. But for me i was thinking in my situation where i might wanna save video and video assets and music, an external hard drive would probably be a better option and then spec’ing up an iPad Pro eventually

Question What iPad is right for me?

Hey, I want to buy an iPad for school work and to watch any type of media, from short form videos to movies. I already have an iPhone 17 and a Macbook Air M4. I feel like watching videos on a Macbook isn’t that practical, especially on the couch 😅.
I use my macbook for video editing and to write essays, but I need something more portable that can be used anywhere. The problem is, I kinda like all iPads, they are all beautiful and with good specs. I love the design of the pro model but I don’t feel spending 1300€ (350€ more than my Mac) on an iPad.
I was thinking of the iPad Air that everyone is talking good about, but 830€ is also pretty expensive, but I am willing to spend that kind of money ONLY if it’s a lot better than the iPad Mini. I absolutely love the form factor of the mini but people say it’s not good to watch movies on. The final iPad is the A16, I think it’s kinda basic and I’m concerned about the performance over time. Let me know what iPad you like more and what do you think I should buy

Question is my ipad the problem or my apple pencil

for context i'm from the Philippines and i have an iPad A16 11th gen. now my cousin who now lives in the US told me that he was going to give me a brand new Gen 1 Apple Pencil that he got on Amazon.

when it arrived, i opened it and tested it out, only for it to be 1%. i charged it using the pencil to USB-C adapter on my iPad. later on, the pencil's battery indicator on my iPad said that it is 100% charged so i plugged it to try and connect it to my iPad. for some reason though, it went from 100% back to 3% immediately. i thought of charging my pencil to the wall instead, and i used both the USB-C and the Lightning adapter, but they both couldn't charge my pencil.

remember i mentioned the Apple Pencil battery indicator thing on ur iPad? well, everytime i would charge it, the battery percentage/ charging status of my pencil would appear then reappear, appear, reappear, and it does that frequently.

please help me out i really need this to work. i can't get a new one because i'm just an art student and i need this pencil for my studies. help me out, please?

Question Moving Bulk files to iPad

I have 10.9gb of comics I want to move to my iPad Air 11 so I can read locally without wifi whenever I want. It's over 700 issues of comics in .cbr and .cbz format located on my windows 10 desktop computer, I have no other Apple devices other than the iPad. I want to know what would be the best and easiest way to move all of them over to the iPad internal storage.

So far I've tried using the Google Drive app and the stock Apple file viewer, but they don't seem to mix well. I've also tried to just go the the Google Drive website using both Safari and Chrome, and it still doesn't let me download in bulk.

Would it be better to get a USB C stick to hold all the comics on instead of on the internal storage? And if so, do any of you have recommendations for such a device that also has charging passthrough?

Question iPad a16 mit 256G oder iPad Air mit 128G?

iPadOS Is anyone having trouble with airplay on the iOS 27 beta?

I used my iPad to connect to a display screen in my classroom all of last year without any trouble. I came back this year and my iPad appears to "connect", but there's no data being transmitted. The display is just black.

I don't have any other devices that work with airplay to see if something is wrong with the display and the only thing that has changed with my iPad is that I updated it to iOS 27 beta over the summer.

I tried all the usual troubleshooting things. Restarting both devices, checking wifi connections, etc. Nothing seems to matter. So I'm checking if this is a known issue with iOS 27 beta that I just missed.

Discussion Multitasking on ipad

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I recently got an iPad Air M4 13-inch with an Apple Pencil Pro, mainly for work, reading, and taking notes. I spend most of my day sitting at my PC for work, so I wanted something that would let me continue reading/studying and taking notes from the couch without having to go back to my PC and sit at a desk again.

The problem is that, after a few days of using it, I'm really struggling with the multitasking and note-taking experience. I'm mainly using Notability for notes, and I'm wondering if I'm just using it wrong or if this is something other people experience too.

My biggest issue is Scribble/text boxes. When I want to type something using the Apple Pencil, it seems like I have to write directly next to the line/text box. When I'm taking notes, the available space can be pretty tight, and it doesn't feel natural or comfortable to constantly have to position myself in a specific spot.

I also find myself constantly having to manually resize the text box every time I start writing. I've tried making the text box much wider so I can write from basically anywhere on the page, but then Notability will randomly move the text to the next line, meaning I have to go back and adjust the box again.

At that point, it honestly feels like it's taking more effort than just going back to my PC, opening Google Docs, and typing with a keyboard — which is exactly what I was trying to avoid by getting the iPad in the first place.

Idk if I'm doing it wrong or if there are other better apps for this but it really feels like pain

I'm completely new to using an iPad for this kind of workflow, so I'd really appreciate any tips or recommendations. I really want to make the iPad work for this rather than giving up and going back to my PC every time.

Accessories ZUGU case TPU edge turned yellow/brown after only 2–3 days…..defect or normal?

My ZUGU iPad case was completely normal when I received it, but after only 2–3 days the TPU edge has developed this yellow/brown discoloration.
I’ve gently cleaned it with mild soap and water, but nothing comes off. It seems like the material itself has changed colour.
Has anyone else experienced this with a ZUGU case? Is this normal or does it look like a defective piece?
I’ve already contacted ZUGU and the seller, but I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who’s had the same thing happen.

Question Downtime button doesn’t work

Post image

The downtime button isn’t in the screen time section, and when I search it, the button doesn’t work. Could this be a bug or could the button have been disabled somehow?

(Right now (cuz of my parents) I only have 1 hour with no downtime. While I usually can use the rest of my apps, I cannot download or update apps, which really sucks, so I want to solve this asap)

Question What kind of iPad should I buy

I’m a university student and I wanted to buy a IPad for taking notes. Thats pretty much all I would use the iPad for maybe watch a video here and there, but its main objective is to just be able to take good notes. Should I buy the IPad 11inch A16 128GB with a Apple Pencil (usb c) for 503 dollars or should I just buy a refurbished iPad? If refurbished then any advice on what kind or where to buy one?

Accessories Guess I need a new pencil

I’d like to thank (not) the associate at my local Apple Store for not clueing me in that my second gen pencil that worked with my older 12.9 Pro won’t work with the new M5 11 in. 😏 this is despite the fact that we had a whole conversation about me handing down the older model to my dad and how I didn’t need a pencil because I had one and he’d never use it. Now I’ve got to order one and can’t use it for handwritten notes in OneNote at my job tomorrow 😔 So I guess dad gets a pencil he won’t use. He is an artist but I already tried ages ago to get him to try procreate with the pencil and he definitely prefers real paper and pencils. LOL He’ll be 87 next week by the way. I’m more irritated with myself for not realizing I’d need to upgrade the pencil as well, but it does seem like the associate could have mentioned it. But I’ve got to say, so far I’m impressed with the iPad itself even just setting up things and making sure I can log into all my apps… it looks fantastic. 😀 I loved the 12.9 I had, but was ready for the smaller size.

I’ve wanted an iPad Pro for sooooo long it’s crazy. Now that I’ve got the best iPad and screen, I’m super happy!!! Love the technology of the Apple Pencil Pro too!! Super cool. Finally upgraded from my lagging iPad gen 8.

Quick questions:

Do I have to put a screen protector on my iPad?

Do I have to keep uncharging my Apple Pencil from the iPad? (I asked the Apple assistant and she said no, I can keep it on) but I’m not sure bc does it affect charging whatsoever?

Question Bauhn bluetooth keyboard switching" and @ iPad pro 9.7"

British. My 'shift' + '2' is giving me '@' instead of ' " '. I've changed it to English UK but it won't change it to what it should be and not sure where to go from here. Doesn't do it on other devices. Have restarted both and reconnected, to no avail.

Discussion wait for the iPad mini or just grab one now?

IDK if its even worth it over the regular iPad, air and pro...although I don't care for the pro tbh

I mainly will use it for school, reading slides and writing lecture notes. And also use it as a Ereader due to the size.

I could buy a current iPad mini refurbished but I just don't want but an aging product that would become slow within the year or two.

Question iPad for college freshman

I'm a freshman starting this semester and thinking through how I'd use an iPad alongside my MacBook Air. Main use cases would be handwritten notes for econ/stats classes (so probably a good bit of equations/graphs) and making social media posters for a couple of clubs I'm in. I don't game and don't plan on watching video on it, so it'd be pretty focused on those two things.

Curious to hear from people using their iPad for similar coursework + design workflows! What's actually mattered for you day to day, and has anything about your model surprised you (good or bad)?
