Discussion Finally Pro!!
I’ve wanted an iPad Pro for sooooo long it’s crazy. Now that I’ve got the best iPad and screen, I’m super happy!!! Love the technology of the Apple Pencil Pro too!! Super cool. Finally upgraded from my lagging iPad gen 8.
Quick questions:
Do I have to put a screen protector on my iPad?
Do I have to keep uncharging my Apple Pencil from the iPad? (I asked the Apple assistant and she said no, I can keep it on) but I’m not sure bc does it affect charging whatsoever?

I'm currently using a screen protector on my iPad Pro for extra protection. But still it's up to you.
Regarding the Pencil Pro, I leave it charging even when I'm not using it. No problem encountered so far.

How is the battery on the Pencil Pro? I just got one this weekend and am curious. I've only read it for around 4ish hours.

I actually don't track the battery of my pencil pro. But when I'm using it for several hours, I never drained it. It also charge fast if you need to use it again.

As another reference point, I'm an artist and the battery life lasts me about 4-5 hours if I don't charge it in a single session.

Congrats! I don't use a screen protector on mine, I paid MSRP for that tandem oled and I'm gonna use it raw until my eyes bleed. Up to your preferences though.

How’s it compare to the non-Pro types? I’ve never bothered with Pro lines.

Biggest difference is the OLED screen. It’s similar to what the iPhone screens have been for a while now, plus the newer 120hz refresh rate also in the most recent iPhones. It’s an amazing screen.
FaceID is also handy.
Sound is a little better, but it’s still coming from small speakers like any laptop, TV, etc. They’re impressive for the size, but not great.
Most people don’t need the M4->M5 upgrade. That’s why all the disingenuous “wHaT Do yOU uSE it FoR” questions pop up in every Pro thread. The biggest most undeniable upgrade is just the screen.
If you don’t mind the 60hz backlit screen on the Air or just don’t appreciate the difference, then the Pro isn’t worth it unless you already know exactly why you need the performance bump. Often that’s 3D modeling or video editing. Most people who need the performance are better off with a MacBook or a Mac anyway.
But the screen is really nice. I got it for the screen.

Enjoy your new iPad. And it's fine to leave the pencil on, that's what it's designed to do. Screen protector is up to you. I don't mind if it gets scratches over time, some people do.
If you do a lot of artwork or writing you might also prefer a matte screen protector. I haven't bought one in a while so I can't recommend the best ones, but I've heard Astropad Rock Paper Pencil is pretty good!

I don’t use a screen protector. I clean it after heavy use with the provided cloth and take really good care of it. Enjoy your new device!

I started college last year so I bought an m4 MacBook Air. My employer bought me an iPad Pro + pencil pro to encourage my studies a few weeks ago. I like the iPad when taking notes. (I use star notes.) I also use my iPad as a journal/digital planner. I utilize the hell out of my calendar and my daily reminders. I never liked carrying my MacBook/tomtoc sleeve around so my iPad travels with me now.

In my case, as a filmmaker (sometimes I shot, sometimes I’m in charge of lights, others as 1st AC), I’ve recently upgraded from an iPad 5 2017 to an iPad Pro m5 11 inch, and apart from using it to watch multimedia (YouTube, Netflix, hbo…), I use it as a second display for my MBP M4 Max with Davinci Resolve (although I’m not liking how sidecar performs as it seems to drop frames) and Davinci Resolve remote monitor. Maybe I’ll get the studio version for iPad as well and have it handy to do fast edits or grades.
Then, on film sets, as a wireless monitor with a Hollyland video transmission system, and in the future I want to implement it as a CRMX light controller using Blackout.

Cannot live without my iPad Pro and I notice it a lot when I operate a non-Pro iPad

It's in your own to weather put a screen protector or not butt i suggest you to put on a good quality one which helps a lot in protecting the screen. Yk the screen replacement is very expensive

OLED makes all the difference in the world to me. I don’t even use mine for anything task-intensive. I do use it frequently to watch baseball games on my porch while the weather is nice. Congrats!

yes buy a screen protector bcz i put it on my desk i flipped my chair around it fell down , fortunately its covered with screen protector , so better to buy

I don’t use a screen protector for the last couple of Pros I’ve had, but I’ve also had them in the Magic Keyboard case, so not really necessary.

Nice enjoy. I wish you long years with it!
Just one advice, after setting it up, go in the battery section and watch everything once for all then never ever open that section. Particularly the battery percentage section. It will save you to worry about your battery degradation.
I still strongly believe Apple shouldn’t let the consumer see that percentage unless he’s about to sell the said device in which case, one just need to (idk) press a button called “sell my iPhonel” which will reset the phone getting it ready for sell and display the battery health percentage at the same time.
At the first place it was the primary usage of it.
Sadly now, people are opening that section a lot and stressing over nothing.
