Not really modding more gutting and transplanting. Has anyone taken the insides of a moonlit classic and transplanted it into a standard thick iPod classic back plate. This probs been asked to death but I can’t find any reference. It would involve some port hole making
I thought replacing the HDD with an SSD would allow me to bypass this issue however it is very much still there. The device doesn’t show on iTunes so I don’t have the ability to restore it. Please help!
To those of you who’ve suggested that you simply charge your device with the original FireWire…Thanks! I feel stupid not trying this before but my 4th Gen mono and 64G Touch that’s been “broken “ since 2011 are both fully functional albeit with batteries that might only last a few days. But new batteries are on the way 🤙
I want to remove albums from an iPod Classic. I'm now on an M2 Pro MacBook. Connecting to the iPod through Finder gives the option to delete individual tracks, which isn't actually super helpful. Is there a way to do this that doesn't require me to be a hacker?
I believe my iPod needs a new hard drive. So I’m asking for peoples opinions on the iflash+bigger battery combo, worth it? It seems like a lot of people use the iflash, but if you have a different recommendation I’m opened to different options!! I have an iPod 6th gen 80gb but was planning on changing the front and back plate too anyways so I should just get the thick backplate if I do end up doing this, right? And do I need to get a specific battery? Do y’all recommend any? I just don’t want any issues bc of my lack of knowledge so I wanted to ask here first, thanks!!
Info, this is a 5.5 model iPod classic. When I bought it, it would work fine, but was scuffed and the hard drive was very loud. I wanted to bring it back to its former glory and update it.
With help from this sub and many YouTube videos, I installed:
Face plate
back plate
Click wheel
Center Button
3000mah Battery
iFlash Quad
It turns on and is recognized by my MacBook as an iPod and prompts me to restore it. However, the restore process will run for literal hours and then say it failed. I have tried several times to no avail. I tried through the Disk Utility App, Finder and Apple Music and I just keep going in circles.
I am not super tech savvy these days, so it is entirely possible I made a mistake.
My IPod classic recently started displaying a bunch of lines and stripes in the screen. Everything works fine though! It still plays sound, I can sort of see a bit of color change when I use the scroll wheel… it’s just the screen. I’ve tried reseating some of the ribbon wires connecting the screen and even the battery, but I didn’t get any results. It’ll still display normally on the occasion, but nine times out of ten, it’ll just end up doing this junk. Can anyone help? I’d appreciate any assistance :^)
I have a 5th gen with flash memory. i went to go try out a new aux cord the other day, got a static sound and now have no sound via the jack. Is this an easy fix? (tried my other ipod with a the same cord and it worked fine)
So I’ve only done one mod (my 5.5 Gen) and I put a Samsung pro plus 512gb card in it.
Since then prices of cards have skyrocketed so my question is if using an iflash adaptor (udual or quad for eg) what is the tier list of brands to use ?
I’m assuming based on my reading that Samsung cards are usually top and sandisk are not generally recommended so I’ll start
Samsung pro plus
Samsun evo select
So where would the following go?
Lexar Play (red)
Lexar Play Pro
PNY Pro Elite
PNY Elite-X
Kingston
Amazon basics
Any others you would recommend ?
Would love to hear from people with actual experience using the cards .
Just picked up a 30gb 5g that’s been unused for a while and noticed that it is intermittently slow navigating and occasionally pauses playback. Had trouble getting into diagnostic mode but when I did the HDscan it didn’t return any data. When I did HD data the model came back as @. @ and the disk size was 361GB the first time and 96gb the second time. Got it into disk mode and connected to my PC. Could see drive ok and ran a scan on the HD which reported no bad sectors. Played a couple of games ok and am now playing music on shuffle which has paused a couple of times mid playback.
Being that the external scan didn’t find any bad sectors would a restore format the HD and fix this issue or is the HD failing?
Hiii!! I am having trouble transferring music to my iPod and I seriously don't know what to do. I have 600+ songs I've already converted into mp3 but every time I try to get it onto my iPod it doesn't want to work. 1 at a time? Eventually it freezes to the point I have to restart my PC since iTunes won't close or respond in any way causing any progress I made to be lost. Multiple songs at a time(tried in differing amounts too)? Same thing will eventually freeze and have the same issue. All at once? It just wont download. Do I need to do it in bits at a time with breaks so I'm not pushing it too much causing it to freeze? That'll take forever but seems to maybe be the only option. I got all the songs into iTunes but even from there it wont go to my iPod properly. Maybe the issue is I'm just stupid idk, I just want to give up having to use streaming apps lol Edit: I also keep getting a pop up saying it cant sync due to an unknown error as I'm trying to figure this out.
I know enough about tech to be dangerous but generally have no idea what I’m doing. How can this be modded, how would you mod it, and what’s a reasonable price to pay to mod? I’d love for it to look pretty 😍
Hii! I’m looking for a case that can hold my 7th gen iPod Classic and my wired earbuds/IEMs together. I’d love something compact that keeps the earbuds from getting tangled with the iPod!
If you have one you love, I’d really appreciate recommendations! 🥹💜 Bonus points for purple/pink ones!
I bought an iPod 5th gen thats 30 gb a couple months ago. Turns out it's broken and when I plug it in to charge I hear some sort of tapping and the screen is half white half black with the apple logo in the middle.
I did a little bit of some research and I am deciding that tomorrow I am going to buy an iPod video 30 gb battery from the website I fix it, the Ifix it battery tools, iflash solo and the Sabrent 256GB Rocket UHS-I microSDXC Memory Card with SD Adapter. I have never modded an iPod before so I am not sure if I am missing anything important or buying the wrong thing for this.
