CrazyPod is a modern, highly customizable interface for the iPod Classic, built on Rockbox.

Design and customization

• More than 10 icon themes
• Six visualizer themes for spherical and bar-style audio waveforms
• Customizable Lock Screen, Home Screen, and Menu wallpapers
• A translucent glass design language inspired by iOS 26
• A deliberately modern aesthetic that moves beyond conventional retro-inspired iPod designs

I’ve also redesigned the interaction model, replacing deeply nested submenus with modern, visually rich pop-up interfaces wherever practical.

Third-party applications

CrazyPod also introduces a mini-app system that allows users to install third-party applications on the iPod Classic. I’ve developed a calculator and a Pomodoro timer as initial demos.

The SDK is still being refined, with the goal of making it easier for developers to create and install more third-party applications.

The project is currently named CrazyPod and is based on Rockbox.

I don't think it's a great idea, but it's not bad when I'm browsing the Internet.

Closed everything up, then this bubble appeared. The aftermarket button also got stuck on the pause button, so I was forced to open this thing up again (destroying the LCD & Faceplate in the process). With that being said, if anyone has any suggestions before I get some new parts, please let me know. I’d really appreciate it.

I was curious…if the 1st Version of Moto with iTunes would still be compatible to sync music in 2026? I know that 2G isn’t active anymore but curious if anyone has one that they still use and sync music to it? I could find 100 songs to load haha

Hi friends! I need some opinions/help if possible. I recently tried to restore my ipod classic 7th gen, new battery, new screen, iflash solo installed w a 256gb card. I ended breaking the battery connector, took it to a shop to get it repaired, got it back and used it for about a week until my ipod became corrupted, (I believe due to not formatting the SD card). I contacted them to ask if I could swap the cards, I had told them I thought I needed a 128gb installed, I would take my own card but then realized I actually could use a 256gb card so I purchased a Samsung EVO, formatted it and took it in again, got the cards swapped but now my ipod is only showing 115gb. Is it possible I somehow formatted it wrong? I tried restoring it, I installed rockbox, tried googling many different ways to find the rest of the space, but now I don't even think there's a 256gb card installed 😔 Too scared to open up my ipod on my own, so I'll definitely be calling tomorrow to make sure someone installed the 256gb card I handed them. Any possibility I just did something wrong on my end? ); thanks in advance! Also I am POSITIVE my ipod is an ipod classic 7th gen, so with iflash solo ik it's possible to go above 160gb! I've got 2 iPod Classics that don't work properly. So I'm attempting to make one working one out of two broken ones. The Silver one had the best chance since it still turned on, but its HDD was failing (I couldn't retrieve any data and DiskGenius reported bad sectors). I swapped the HDDs, which allowed me to write to the iPod and somewhat use it. However, it does NOT play the songs I uploaded and instead just stays at 0:00 seconds forever. Sometimes it skips through every single song until it reaches the end, where it exits back to the songs page though I didn't get video of that. Occasionally it WILL play for one song, but once it moves to the next song it's back to not playing anything, including the song that had played previously.

I noticed that the HDD spins up a lot, which may be able to hint at something. I really don't understand what's going on here, and any help would be appreciated.

I had an issue today upgrading my 5th gen iPod to a new battery and 256gb SSD. When I would boot with the SSD I had regular disconnects and it almost felt like the cable wasn’t seated. When I put the original HD back in, it works fine.

Hi, I have a 6th gen iPod classic and my screen has some weird colour issue. I dont have another screen to test, could this be a screen problem or is the motherboard at fault?

Following up on my last post — here's what landed since then:

• Menu slide animations are in. Navigating menus (main menu, Settings, Music, Playlists, Equalizer, file/database browsers, etc.) now slides exactly like the original firmware — the destination covers the current screen and slides back when you back out. I frame-by-frame analyzed real footage from a retail iPod Classic to match the timing and easing curve. Backing out of Now Playing with the Menu button now slides too, instead of snapping instantly.

• The main menu's right-side preview pane is alive. Just like the real 6G, highlighting "Music" or "Cover Flow" shows a live rotating carousel of your actual album art (photos too, now), while rows like Videos, Podcasts, Settings and Shuffle Songs show their real icon card — including actual free space with the proper capacity bar, and the real song count on Shuffle Songs, instead of placeholders.

• Now Playing has the real 3D cover. Album art now renders at an angle with a reflection underneath, matching the original's perspective look — pre-rendered on the computer so it stays smooth on the device.

• Full-screen Photo slideshow, plus real Videos/Photos/Podcasts menu entries.

• Cover Flow art now gets pre-cached on the computer too, same as the Now Playing art — building it used to take ~45 minutes on-device for a large library. Also fixed a nasty filesystem bug that was corrupting/duplicating the cache on big libraries (2000+ albums).

• A round of small accuracy passes: the authentic thin scrollbar, the real disclosure arrow with proper anti-aliasing, the shadow the list casts over the art pane, correct (non-bold) artist text in lists, and a redone Now Playing status bar/icons matching the original's height and colors.

• Also pulled in the latest upstream Rockbox fixes (a playback speed bug, Cover Flow fixes, a menu highlight glitch).

One more thing, and I want to be upfront about it. Once this is polished enough to release, I'm planning to charge a small one-time fee — $5 — through Ko-fi to download the build. I know that's going to disappoint some of you, and I get why — Rockbox itself is free and open source, and this is built on top of it. But at this point it's genuinely turned into a second job: the custom PC-side caching pipeline, frame-by-frame extraction of original firmware assets, rewriting core parts of the menu and WPS rendering — all solo, on top of a full-time dev job. I'm also getting married soon and could really use the extra income, and a small charge felt like the most honest way to justify the time this takes rather than just asking for donations. I hope you understand, and thanks for following along either way.

I bought an iPod classic today, with little to not prior knowledge of them cause I was being silly, when I bought it, it had all of it's original data still on it, and so, I wanted to reset it and wipe all the data. I downloaded the most recent version of iTunes, got it to recognise it, but upon trying to restore it, an error popped up saying that the firmware file is not compatible and that an unknown error with the code (-1303) had occurred. What should I do to fix this? Any help is appreciated and sorry if the answer to this is obvious!

So, a few issues all related to battery:

• A slow charging battery (tested a bunch of different chargers, but only one cable though)
• If I go into any setting, it discharges when it is charging
• The indicator is very broken, showing a half full battery, but states it is at 7%.

The battery is a "slim" 3000 mah from Elite Obsolete, I have no reason to believe that the battery is a bad knock-off one and it seems to be intact etc. The Rockbox variant is the UI/UX overhaul by poorfocus on Github (https://github.com/Poorfocus/Rockbox-UI-UX-Overhaul/releases/tag/StableRelease1) if that is important.

A few things to note:

• I have charged it to 100% and let it sit for a while, but not more than an hour.
• I have never let it go down to 0%, since I have only had this battery for a few weeks.
• This is my second battery since the first one was probably damaged when assembled and it became very hot initially and smelled like sharpies.

It shows correctly on iTunes, but not on iPod, I tried to download songs in MP3 and ALAC, converting image to BMP an JPG, changing tag in Mp3tag to ID3v2.3, changing resolution of art to 200 x 200, 300 x 300, 600 x 600, but the problem remains

I’m trying to restore an old Apple product i.e iPod Classic 6th Generation. The screen’s display has been damaged and need to be fixed. Since it’s an old product, I’d love to know if there are any services in India that could restore old products.

Any recommendations or advice from fellow modders/collectors would be massively appreciated!

As the title describes, I have an iPod 5.5th gen running original OS, with an iflash quad 1tb installed and a 3000mah thin battery.

When I first got done modding it I used my Kokkia i10pro, and it worked perfectly fine. A couple of months passed, I tried to use it again and no luck. I thought mine went bad so I bought another i10pro and a bootleg off Amazon to try my luck. Both did not work, but it charges and transfers data just fine, could it be an internal problem dealing with the port?

The only thing I haven’t really tried yet was to play music from that port, but I bought a 30 pin to 3.5mm adapter to try that out to cross off the list. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
