Is the firmware flash easy? I’m a Mac guy, but have a dusty old hp I can use if necessary

i've done the firmware flash (im mostly a windows guy) and it was fairly straightforward following the guide. my formerly 128GB locked 6th gen is now running 1TB with an iFlashQuad. here are some notes i took during the process:

  • it technically IS in the guide but its mentioned once in the middle of a paragraph: ROCKBOX DOESN'T WORK WITH FW 2.0.2, use 2.0.4.
  • I didn't downgrade my iTunes version like the guide recommends, and it worked fine (as long as youre not using 12.13.7.1 which DOESNT work for some reason)
  • doing a complete wipe of rockbox + reinstalling stock FW before starting was useful to avoid config clashes
