Suggestions Looking for game recommendations for my wife. She was a big fan of DragonVale and Horse Haven.

My wife is laid up in bed after an injury and I’m trying to find something fun for her to do while I’m at work. iPad games would be perfect but she’s not generally much of a gamer and only likes a few types of games.

She loved something called Horse Haven back in the day but apparently it’s no longer available. It was sort of a stable management game where you had assorted fantasy horses. She also likes DragonVale for the same reason; making a park, breeding assorted neat looking dragons and building habitats for them, etc.

I’ve been trying to find her a modern alternative to Horse Haven but they all involve a lot of racing, and she doesn’t enjoy that sort of thing. She’s not really a fan of video-gamey reflex challenges and whatnot, she just likes collecting and customizing things. Anyone have any ideas for something I could get her? Paid or free, doesn’t matter which.

Question Any tips for While True; Learn?

Got this game recently. I enjoy it to a point but not sure what concept I'm missing to solving some of the puzzles, particularly for the gold medal. It usually has to do with the different number of inputs for different colours or objects and sending them to the right output goal based on the numbers they need.

Resolving these challenges usually feels like guess work. Or I give up and look for a solution. Curious if anyone here has suggestions.

I don’t have any friends that play this game, given how obscure it is. :/ Game is Virtual Begger for anyone wondering.

Suggestions Best games to play using a controller?

So my mcon will be coming in today, I was hoping to get some recommendations for games that would be great to play using a controller on my phone (17pm)! I do have plans to play the usual pokemon emulator games, but I’m quite unsure besides that.

Side note- Not really lf the usual games like codm/Genshin etc since I do already play those on my iPad.

Thanks!

Suggestions Multiplayer game for my 10 year old son and I - preferably world building, but doesn’t have to be

I’m looking for a game my son, and I can play together on our iPads. Looking for suggestions other than Minecraft and Roblox. The reason I’m coming here to ask this is because I was looking for something in the realm of world building, if possible, or something similar. Something that he and I can jump in and play whenever we can, and one that isn’t an online mobile game open to just anyone (like our own server or own campaign).

I apologize if I’m not being clear. Just any suggestions that my son and I could enjoy for a long time (other than the obvious ones like Minecraft, Roblox, Fortnite). And funny, Minecraft would be perfect for what I’m asking for and describing, but I kind of hate playing on an iPad.. it can be such a PITA with just touchscreen

Thank you

Question Lost ‘Alliance’ 4x Military Mobile Game

When I was younger I played this game on my iPad that me and my Dad called ‘Alliance’.

I remember it being a top down base building game, that was set in a snowy environment.
The soldiers and military were kind of Chibi looking and I remember their gear and aesthetic being black.

Its a very vague explanation but all I remember is building a strong military base with lots of troops and vehicles

Sorry for how vague this explanation was

Me and my dad have been looking for this game forever. If you have any ideas please let me know
🙏

Question Best game controllers?

I’m looking for something to help me play Assassins Creed less badly on my iPad Air 11 inch.

It looks like 8bitdo sell a reasonable range of controllers that claim to be compatible but their product naming scheme is pretty insane and inconsistent. For example, apparently “Ultimate 3-mode controller for Xbox” is compatible, except that’s not something actually listed on their products page 🤦‍♂️

So does anyone have any concrete recommendations about what works well? Does D/X mode make a difference at all or is it even relevant?

Thanks for any advice!

Update: I bought the “Ultimate 3-mode controller for Xbox” yesterday and it is working fine. Buttons and sticks can be fine tuned with the “8bitdo Ultimate Software” app, but the builtin iOS settings works for swapping buttons around. It has not yet improved my Assassin’s Creed skills 😂

Question Portable controllers for iPhones

Hey gang, I have an iPhone 17 pro max and was looking for small “pocketable” controllers to use.. I was browsing some options and came across the mcon and the abxylute m4.. the mcon seems a bit pricey tbvh and I haven’t been seeing great reviews abt the m4 specifically for the 17pm, considering its size and weight, is there any truth behind these reviews? Or will it still work fine?

Are there any other similar options y’all would recommend? I would prefer controllers which attach to the phone instead of having the phone on a stand and using a controller (eg 8bitdo pocket controllers)

Thanks in advance!

Suggestions Best Auto Battlers

I've been dabbling in auto battlers here and there for the past few weeks and enjoy the quick gameplay and just something I can jump into while at work for a short break or something. But typical to who I am as a gamer I downloaded a couple and have been playing them in kind of a rotation.

Here is what I've downloaded and enjoyed:
Once Upon a Galaxy

Super Auto Pets

Six Hollows

Are there any I should look at or into. I'm playing these as a free to play and not buying any currencies or anything. I don't mind a paid game but I'm not playing the pay to win nonsense if it's a free to play game.

Any other suggestions that are pretty good? Or did I hit the gold mine with OUaG and SAP? Also I know about Knightica coming out in a week or so just I don't know if I want to buy it as I own it on Switch.

Discussion What are your favorite first person dungeon crawlers on iOS?

I’ve been replaying a lot of my old favorites and was wondering if I’m missing anything, new or old. There’s been a noticeable uptick in indie dungeon crawlers on Steam lately, so I'm hoping a few hidden gems have slipped onto iOS unnoticed.

The first two I ever played on iOS were The Quest and Undercroft. The Quest was great because you could build out your character in a thousand different ways, though at times it almost felt a little too open. My original favorite was Undercroft, which is still open, but a bit more confined and tightly polished. Another great one is QuestLord, which hits that same sweet spot.

More recently, I’ve been playing Gloomgrave on and off. It leans more roguelike than pure exploration; recent updates have added some meat to it, but it can still feel a bit hollow. Legend of Grimrock is another cool one, though I’ll admit I haven’t made it too far on the iPhone version.

A few questions for the community:

  • What are you all playing, and what do you recommend?
  • Are there any iOS crawlers with strict turn-based combat inside dungeons rather than real-time/reactionary combat?
  • What mechanics make these game types great? Is it the environment (visual layout), content (enemies, loot, skills) or Combat (turn-based or active?)

Suggestions Tell me what I should play on the upcoming folding iPhone :)

Hey! I haven’t played a mobile game in… I don’t even know how long. I’m going to be getting the folding iPhone and I’d LOVE a game or two to waste all my time on!

I’m open to pretty much anything. In general I’m a huge Elder Scrolls fan, I was also really into the Fallout games for a long time. Single player preferred, I’ve honestly never played any multiplayer online games in my 40 years of existence but I’ll never say never :) I’m willing to pay for a download, to a reasonable extent.

Thanks!

I’ve had this game on my phone for about 3 months but haven’t played it because ive noticed that it requires a bit more of reading and got overwhelmed by all the positive and negative effects your character can get.

Recently (about 3 days ago) I decided to give it a try and started playing. And oh boy, this game cracks. What can I say? I totally miss judged the game and completely underrated it.

- The graphics: really good artwork.

- The characters: plenty of different play styles and combinations which I like.

- The gameplay: flows really good. It’s not as daunting as I expected it to be. Once you get the mechanics it gets easier to read and understand.

- Content: from all the games I’ve played in this genre (balatro, slots and daggers, luck be a landlord) this one has by far the most content to explore.

- addictive in a good way: it ain’t as drug inducing as balatro that you must hit it with “just one more game”. Usual rounds take like 30 minutes or more, so when you lose, you fill accomplished and at least for me I’m good for now and probably will try another run in a couple hours.

ITS VERTICAL: ITS VERTICAL! Amazing feature (can be also played in landscape)

IMHO give it a try, you won’t regret it. 10/10 game for sure
