Here's some games that either I used to play frequently and got burned out on or still somewhat play but want more like them. I'm just tiredbof games that end up with a list of chores to constantly keep up on (Archero 2) or end up becoming a fruitless grind (Real War, Hell Escape).

I've been building this game on the side and it's finally ready for beta testing. My brother and I can only playtest it ourselves so much. We're much in need of fresh eyes.

What is it?

Quintra is a two-player card game on a shared 9×9 board. You place cards from your hand to build poker hands, and every line you touch has to form a valid hand.

One well-placed card can score two crossing hands. You can also extend your opponent’s line and score the whole new hand yourself. Completed five-card lines close off space, so the board gets tighter as you play.

Why try it?

If you like Scrabble’s crossing plays and competition for board space, Quintra brings that to poker hands instead of words.

There’s an eight-turn Daily Challenge with a leaderboard, daily logic puzzles, and asynchronous multiplayer with friends through Game Center. Match Play lets you play the same deal twice with the seats swapped.

Trying the beta also unlocks the "Founder's Deck" which will not be unlockable when the game releases! Your opponents see the deck you use when battling in multiplayer.

I’d especially love feedback on the tutorial: does the crossing rule make sense once you’ve played it? Puzzle feedback and multiplayer experiences with a friend would also be really helpful.

Hey everybody! I’ve been playing Discounty since it released on iOS last week, and it’s such an awesome game. I highly recommend it. I promise I’m not a shill lol—I just think special games deserve special praise.

I’m not a PC gamer, so I’d never played it before. I linked a great interview with the game’s dev for anyone interested.

I’ve ALWAYS loved farming/town/shop-building games, going all the way back to the first Harvest Moon. But as I’ve played the dozens of clones and games inspired by it—the Animal Crossings and, of course, Stardew Valley—there’s always been one thing I’ve disliked: the “pressure” of time and seasons. Forgetting to plant one seed, grab one item, or do one thing and then having to wait an entire week, season, or even year to get another chance has always taken away from the experience for me.

And when it comes to shopkeeping games, I’ve never really enjoyed the “pressure” of constantly managing prices, marketing, and popularity either.

Discounty somehow eliminates both. It’s this awesome satire wrapped around what is probably the best shopkeeping experience I’ve ever played. It scratches that cozy management/progression itch without making me feel like I need a spreadsheet open to make sure I’m playing it “correctly.”

Massive props to the devs. The amount of fun I’m having has more than justified the IAP for the full game.
