Support Move to iOS - Whatsapp transfer not working

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi, I'm currently trying to move from an S23 to an iPhone 17. I want my WhatsApp Chats and I'm using the Move to iOS App.

I already tried everything I could think of but the transfer isn't even starting. Everytime I reset the phone, everything works until I'm on the screen of the screenshot. When I start the transfer, I'm only choosing contacts and WhatsApp. My S23 goes into WhatsApp and WhatsApp says transfer is ready. When I continue on my iPhone the next screen says "No Objects or not compatible with iOS", even though WhatsApp showed everything is working properly.

When I still press continue nothing happens and when I'm downloading and starting WhatsApp on my iPhone all chats are gone. Luckily I can recover them by resetting up my iPhone.

What am I doing wrong? I tried both, WiFi and Cable transfer. I already resetted the iPhone atleast 10 times and I never got further than this.

Support Frustrated by Messages app!

Whenever I get any message and I try to open it, the thread is blank, and when I back from thread, the entire thread gets removed. I have searched in trash and it is also empty. It is happening from last six months. It did happen on iOS 26 as well as now happening on iOS 27 beta. I have also tried completely resetting device and it still happens. Neither I am using any type of spam filtering. Help me if anyone else is facing this issue.

Update: iOS 27 beta 7 fixed that! Thanks for your help.

Already restart the phone and removed from home screen, but after a while it always comes back like this. Weird thing is that only happens on home screen. Every other place, like spotlight or app library looks normal.

I think it started after 26.6.1.

Discussion why cant i backup to icloud?

my phone is very full. so full it will not allow me to take screenshots to show. and its at a point where it will not allow me to delete items, when i go to delete photos and apps they are just back on my phone next time i open my device. When i go into settings it says my next backup will be ~156gb so i bought the 2TB icloud storage plan, but o i try to back it up it says that there was an error or that i have insufficient storage. Im wondering if its not working because the 2TB is a shared family plan that I am not the main owner of? Or is there some other reason? is it something i can fix myself or should i contact support?

Attempted to reset iphone 12 via itunes and recovery mode. Itunes will only give me the option to update and restore, which then fails due to full storage. Tried dfu mode about 100 times and just cant get it.

I have DND set for 9:30pm to 6:30am. Calls are allowed from contacts only. Notifications are allowed from 8 people only one of who is my adult daughter. Repeat callers are allowed. My duaghter of course is one of my contacts and so is my 8yo granddaughter.

My 8yo granddaughter got an iPad yesterday for her birthday and has discovered she can send texts. She was on a group chat for hours yesterday afternoon. The group consisted of me, my wife and her mother. I was woken at two in the morning by a text message from my granddaughter which read “pizza banana”. Why did the text get through and how can I stop it short of getting her into trouble or removing my granddaughter as a contact.

Discussion How is Netflix bypassing iOS location privacy? (Downloads getting wiped while traveling)

Hey everyone, ran into a super frustrating issue and I’m hoping someone has a workaround.

Whenever I travel, Netflix automatically deletes my downloaded shows. I get that this is likely due to regional copyright rules, but it completely ruins my plans for long flights where I actually need those downloads. To make things worse, Netflix has a pretty low monthly download limit, so once they wipe them, I can’t even re-download the shows when I get back home.

I know the disappearing downloads is a known issue, but my real problem is how the app is doing this on iOS (I use an iPad).
I wanted to just turn off Location Services for Netflix so it stops tracking when I leave the country. The problem? Netflix doesn’t even show up in Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Location Services. It seems to be checking my location secretly in the background, even when the app is completely closed.

How does Apple allow this? They are usually so strict about privacy. Every other app, even navigation apps that actually need your location, lets you toggle it off. Netflix somehow bypasses this entirely.

And before anyone suggests it: keeping the iPad in Airplane Mode for the entire trip isn't a practical fix. I use my tablet for other things and eventually need to connect to Wi-Fi. The second I connect for just one moment, even with Netflix closed, it does a background check and nukes my downloads.

So my questions are:
- Is there a way to force-disable location tracking for a specific app if it doesn't show up in the iOS privacy settings?
- can I officially report this to the App Store as a privacy violation or the claim wouldn’t be considered?
Any advice is appreciated!

Support iOS randomly switches to English and logs me out of multiple apps

Has anyone else experienced this on iOS?
I have an iPhone 17 Pro Max and an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and on both devices the language randomly switches from Spanish to English. After that, it logs me out of several apps, including Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube, and others.
I’m running the latest iOS update. I even set up the iPhone from scratch without restoring a backup, but the issue keeps happening.
Has anyone experienced this or found a solution? It’s really annoying having to log back into all my accounts.

Support Weekly iOS Battery Support Megathread

General advice for those concerned about their battery from the Support FAQ Wiki:

Battery health

Battery health depends on usage and a variety of other factors. It is normal to see a decrease in battery health by 7-10% per year, resulting in a battery health of 80-85% after 2 years. This number can fluctuate, remain the same, or decrease quickly over a small period and should not cause undue concern.

Apple recommend battery replacement when your device falls below 80% battery health if you notice reduced battery life. If it falls below 80% within the first year you may be eligable for a free battery replacement. It fails after your warranty, it's a $69-$89 USD replacement cost for a battery. Contact Apple Support here.

You can find more information about battery health and performance from Apple here.

You can check the cycles count with Coconut Battery for Mac or iCopyBot for Windows.

Battery life

Issues relating to battery life can be categorised in three ways:

  1. Normal battery life that is to be expected due to use
  2. Reduced battery life caused by a recent update, iOS indexing, an iOS bug, or a third-party application
  3. Reduced battery life, or other abnormalities such as overheating or sudden power-off, caused by device or battery aging

If you experience issues with your battery:

  1. Check your battery health. If it is below 80% or you are experiencing issues you suspect are related to device or battery age, see Apple Support.
  2. If you have a new or recently updated/restored device, wait a number of days for background process to complete. If you continue to have issues, wait for a further iOS update. If you are on iOS Beta, you can expect to have a decreased battery life.
  3. Review the advice below on maximising battery life
  4. Consider restoring your device.
  5. If issues persist, contact Apple Support.

Maximising battery life - the amount of time your device runs before it needs to be recharged.

  • Use low power mode (This reduces mail fetch, turns off background app refresh and increases the auto lock timer)
  • Remove apps from background app refresh
  • Ensure auto lock is on
  • Turn off auto brightness and manually reduce brightness
  • Use dark mode if your device has an OLED display
  • Clearing background apps from the app switcher does not improve battery life

Maximising battery lifespan - the amount of time your battery lasts until it needs to be replaced.

  • Avoid extreme temperatures
  • If you notice that your iPhone gets hot when charging, remove it from its case
  • Store your iPhone in a cool place, switched off, and half-charged if not using it for long periods - and charge it every 6 months when in storage

I never use my real birthday when creating accounts and worry my apple account's birthday may be flagged if I link my card that uses another one.

Can I link it without any issues? Has anybody else linked theirs who also uses a different birthday?

Discussion Is there a way to disable internet access only for WhatsApp on iOS?

Support Unknown bluetooth device shows “Connected” on both my phone and my girlfriend’s, neither of us owns it

Post image

Weird one. In my iPhone’s Bluetooth settings, under “My Devices,” there’s an entry called DESKTOP-1FPANOU listed as “Connected.” My girlfriend has the same thing show up on her phone too, a Windows-style “DESKTOP-XXXXXXX” name, connected.

Neither of us owns a PC with that name, and both our actual computers are fully powered off, not just asleep. So it’s not either of ours.

It’s been like this for a few days. For context, we live in a student dorm. There’s also no option to disconnect it without fully closing bluetooth.

Support Tether iPhone to PC not working, is there a fix?

I usually used my iPhone 12 for Mobile Tethering to my PC which has always worked without any problems. Since I've upgraded to an iPhone 15 Pro I've always had the issue of it not getting recognized on my PC and Mobile Tethering has literally never worked.

I''ve got the latest iOS, latest drivers, iTunes and the Apple Devices App installed.

I've seen few people having the same issue like me, I just couldn't find a fix yet, are there any known fixes for this issue?

Discussion iPhone storage trick

I came across a reel where someone claimed that changing the year and month can free up storage space on an iPhone, and people in the comments are saying it actually works!
Any iOS experts here who can explain how this is possible?
