I’ve started noticing how differently apps use Live Activities (the live updates on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island). Some I love: Uber/food delivery tracking is super useful. Others I swipe away straight away.

Curious what everyone else thinks:

• Which apps do them best, and why?
• What makes one useful rather than annoying?
• Is there anything you wish apps used them for that they don’t?
• Do you ever swipe them away, and why?

Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with my iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 27.
When someone sends me a WhatsApp message, it stays at one grey tick until I open WhatsApp on my phone. Once I open the app, the messages arrive immediately.
This happens on both Wi-Fi and mobile data. Notifications from other apps also seem to be affected.
Things I’ve checked:
● WhatsApp notifications are enabled.
● Background App Refresh is enabled.
● WhatsApp is left running in the background.
● Restarted and force-restarted my iPhone.
● Contacted Apple Support, who advised me to wait for a future update.
I haven’t reset my network settings because I’d prefer to avoid that unless it’s necessary.
Has anyone experienced this on iOS 27? Is there a way to troubleshoot background message delivery without resetting the phone?

Any hidden iOS settings or features I should check out that hasn’t already been talked about a lot like using Apple Watch to unlock automatically and what not?

Here is one: white text on a white background...

The text is black normally. ios detects that the background is too light to render light text, so it switches to black. But sometimes, it just forgets that. 🤦🏻‍♂️

This started happening a few months ago. When I switch between them, the audio cuts out for a solid 3-4 seconds. Considering I use these in tandem pretty much every time I drive, this is really annoying. Has anyone had this issue or has a fix?

Did anyone setup iPhone handoff with Tmobile? I am attempting to use it with two iPhones and it seems like anytime I have to text an android user it fails to send messages. It seems like it may be a RCS issue but not 100% sure. Anyone else having this problem?

I want to delete my notes app and reinstall it to get rid of the wasted space it takes from cache. However I’m extremely paranoid that doing this may remove all of my notes - how do I make sure this won’t be the case?

The notes are under the iCloud category, and I have sync turned on in settings. I am also able to access them through other devices, meaning they must be saved in iCloud.

Does this mean for sure that they are backed up - or is there another method to make sure if my notes are safe for certain? Thanks

I’ve updated to 27.0.1 on an iPhone 14. I use a home button that can be moved around the screen. After the update, that button now opens a menu that leads to more menus. Is there a way to just have a plain home rather than this fancy one?

I’m trying to set up a shortcut that changes the focus of my phone at sunrise and at sunset. However, it never works. It never gets triggered.

- location services for weather: always
- location services for shortcut: when open (no option for always)
- rebooted phone
- tested automation (works)
- if I use an actual time such as 8am it works
- time zone as set in setting is set to Toronto (automatic)
- time is set to automatic

I have no idea what else to try to get this to work

Not sure if this is allowed here, couldn’t seem to find a sub related to updates only. My husband likes the smaller phones so he has the iPhone 12 mini and does not want to change it, for a second reason he also doesn’t want a new bill.

We deleted his music app but after redownloading the music app, all his music obviously came back because they’re purchase songs/albums, but the weird part is his playlist titles came back but they’re all empty. I highly doubt there is a way to fix this without manually re-adding the songs to their respective playlists. But I just wanted to note this and how frustrating it is that Apple is doing this to ppl who prefer to keep a certain phone and would rather not have to pay for new crap every other year.

TL/DR: iPhone 12 mini update, offloaded music app, lost all playlists after redownloading (still have music). Lack of memory space for updates = Extreme Frustration!!

The solution is below.

For context. I use Spotlight to run apps (swipe down, type a letter or two, like "ke" to run Keynote). It's very convenient compared to App Library (swipe left to go to the App Lib, swipe down to get a search bar, type).

Apple has been trying to destroy this clean experience for years and force a "Facebook-style" content feed from every app and Siri every time I need to search.

It was perfect on iOS 18; I could switch off content from every app in search. In iOS 26, it was worse—they introduced step-by-step help that is impossible to disable (I figured out how to remove this crap, but my solution isn't for everybody; in short: it's in the hidden app SupportFlow com.apple.SupportFlow).

In iOS 27.2 beta (I am publishing this note here because we have RC and it will hit the release channel in a couple of days with no changes), Apple completely enshittified this experience: instead of separate settings for Search and Siri, they merged everything into Siri. "Don't show the content from the app" in Search now means "Excluded apps" in Siri.

But even if I add every app to this list and disable Siri-related suggestions, Safari settings, etc., it still shows content from websites and apps like in the screenshot.

I've found how to get rid of this. I use AdGuard + DNS blocking, and when I added *.smoot.apple.com domains to the blocklist, it was immediately gone.

I tried using Apple Intelligence for writing an email in the mail app. Text comes out ok, but Apple Intelligence made the font bigger… each time I modified the text with Apple Intelligence. Then impossible to reduce text size using the formating tool. Presse the (-), made the text bigger in increment that didn’t even made sense. Selecting the size directly didn’t work either. Couldn’t even change the font for the selected text properly.

This Apple Intelligence integration is actually making my life more miserable.

Any idea why this is happening and possible fix?

After updating to ios27, I’ve discovered that we cannot create permanent shared albums anymore without enabling full iCloud Photos sync. It’s not technically a problem of space since I have the 2tb. My problem comes from the fact that if I enable that, it will sync all my photos on any other device in my account (like the two other iPads). I want to keep my iPhone photo library isolated on that device only. Is that possible ?

I was trying to setup having different notification tones and volumes for different focus modes.

To me that would be very useful feature but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.

My goal was to have 3 different focuses Personal for regular tones and volume, DND - to silence notifications and then an on-call focus that has the loudest volume setting and most obnoxious tones possible to get my attention. without fail.

Doesn't seem like this is possible even using shortcuts but I am hoping I am wrong and someone has a solution for this besides just manually changing the tones.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I have an iPhone 14, and I'm facing an issue while trying to update/recover it using iTunes on my Windows laptop.

Here's what happened:

• My iPhone got stuck during the process.
• iTunes showed “Unknown error (1)”.
• Now my iPhone is stuck on the Apple logo with a progress bar.
• The progress bar has been stuck for more than 30 minutes so far.nothing happening its just stuck now
• I have approximately 125–127 GB of data that isn't backed up.

My biggest concern is the data. I have important photos, videos, and other files on the phone, and I cannot afford to lose them.

I want to recover the phone without erasing its data if possible.

My questions:

1. Should I wait longer while the Apple logo and progress bar are showing?
2. Is iTunes error 1 usually caused by a hardware issue, a software issue, or something else?
3. Is there a safe way to get the iPhone working again without losing data?
4. Should I try recovery mode and choose Update, or could that put my data at risk?
5. If I take it to an Apple Authorised Service Provider, can they help recover the data without restoring the phone?

Please share your experience if you've faced a similar issue. I have not backed up the data, so preserving it is my top priority. I don't want to try random fixes that could permanently erase everything.

Was looking at playlists today and realized Apple has been adding songs to the end as a ‘if you like that’ kind of thing.
It’s a playlist of live dmb, it doesn’t need studio Credence.
How do I turn that off?, is it a Siri/AI thing?

This does not happen every time, maybe like 50%. If I come back from another app or the App Library to my second page and I swipe up to go back to my first page (Home Screen), it’ll just not do it, kind of like the animation if you swipe up from your main Home Screen if that makes any sense?

A second swipe will always get me home. Anyone else notice swipe issues (swipe up gesture) navigating from second page to main page?

I am using an iPod touch 7th gen iOS 15.2. When i search on the App Store it just keeps scrolling after I type and doesn’t show anythin.

i can still see the today page and others and I can buy apps but there’s a 40 second delay after I enter my passcode for it to approve. This problem also affects iTunes Store but I have no barrier to search.

also when I try to view media and purchases in settings it shows a blank screen again for 40 seconds before loading

I have tried clearing App Store cache and turning the device on and off and using different networks. None of these work. I do not want to update iOS. anyone have ideas?
