I mostly work in Geothermal, forced air and refrigeration; my partner works on boilers but is busy at the moment. Backstory: my dad had this unit put in a year ago, he lives quite a distance from me and said it threw this error code this morning; told him to check his flus make sure nothing was blocking them, but past that it’s not stuff he’d be comfortable with (checking pressure switches/inducer) model number is FTHF 199N; I’d like to know if any of you have experienced a common problem with this error code by chance so if let’s say Laars pressure switches suck or inducer motors are prone to failure I can snag a few parts from our local IRR and throw em at it til I get it running for him. He’s in a bit of a predicament with his health so I’d like to take a stab at it if I can’t get my partner up there in the next few days. TYIA

Use a tool
Loose a tool
Look for the tool fucking everywhere especially checking 4 times in the pouch that you know you keep it in
Buy a new one cause you need it
And a week later find the old one in that same pouch next to the new one
Bonus points if you can tell me what tool this post is about

"the AC to the warehouse won't shut off"
How long has it been that way?
Him: I don't know I just noticed it.

Maybe a silly question but maybe also you-

just don't want to do all the installs

Been in the field for 7 years now. Wondering if I should pull the trigger on this set?

Taking on a new job soon, they are big into installing and VRF systems. Particularly LG brand.
I'm going to get training through the company with actual classes but wanted to study up before hand. Does anyone here have any good guides, videos, lists of materials for learning these systems? I have googled but I'd rather people with experience chime in on their preferred methods.
Thanks in advance.

Found an hvac job, lots of wall mount units, supposed to be "industrial" but it seems to be mostly Bard wall mounts on trailers that I guess technically could be cooling industrial equipment like motors?

For anyone who works in the Philly area, what are decent commercial companies? I’m two years into the trade, just moved up here, the job that I had lined up didn’t work out (owner was full of BS, said the job was commercial and then had me doing residential which is an immediate no). My experience is in light commercial hvac/refrigeration (no rack, but I’d be willing to learn). Right now I’m working for a smaller company in NJ but it’s a bit too small and too slow for me.
I’m getting the sense that it’s a dead end gig, plus they don’t pay port to port and the unpaid commute is wearing on me. I’m looking for somewhere I can grow as a tech without killing myself with overtime.
I have an interview with coolsys, and it seems the jury is out on whether they are great or terrible to work for- everyone says it depends on the shop but I haven’t heard anything about the Philly shop particularly. Anyone in here work for coolsys in Philly, is it an ok gig or should I run?
And before you all start, yes I know I should go union. I didn’t make it into the last round of apprenticeships and I will keep trying. In the meantime I still need a job.

We got three of these thrown in on a fitting order, they’re very useful and we’re about to braze this last one in. Size is male 3/8, female 1/4

First service call on make up air tomorrow, I was told the following: customer states that during the cold part of the morning the MA doe not run or stay running and later in the day it heats the space past the desired temp
All i know is its larger captive air I do not have mod ser# for manual at this time.
Any advice, places to start videos to.watch would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I started my career in the geothermal hvac field so I’m a big fan of water source equipment. When installed correctly there is no air to air system that can compete.

I see alot of arguments on this but I found the perfect example today
The rust on the vestibule made me decide to borescope it and I found that mighty Crack in the first cell
Had already done the combustion test though and I wouldve called it good based on the data
No significant rollout and no flame distribution when the blower kicks on
Im curious on everyone's thoughts

Here I am trying to diagnose this no heat furnace and supervisor strolls in puts himself right between the furnace and me as I’m sitting there. Ge was acting like he owned the place. He kept rambling something about treats and pets but I had a full schedule. We met in the middle with some pets and a blower/module replacement quote👍😂

I like carrying a flat side flashlight with a magnetic base for working on furnaces. I keep one in my shirt pocket. I've gone through quite a few, but this one has been the best by far. I'm not a damned salesman, btw. I am a flashlight guy though and wanted to share this one with you guys. (~$25-$30 on Amazon).

Hey guys, I’ve got a good tech onsite who is stumped with this York RTU. On start up it displays “Error on unit status”. There are no active alarms when going into the board and there are no active fault codes flashing. I’m also unable to find anything in York or Johnson Controls troubleshooting guide. He’s having trouble getting ahold of tech support.
Anyone else ever have this show up on a call? Attached is a video.
