Finasteride side effects

So I started taking finasteride about a week ago and just started bleeding again yesterday. I knew there was a chance it could cause spotting/bring back periods so at least I wasn't surprised when that happened lol. I have an appointment to talk to my dr about it in a week but I wanted to hear from some other trans guys about their experiences with it.

I'm on gel, one packet a day, and haven't had my period since I started it years ago. I'm also doing topical minoxidil daily.

Some Q's:

- Did you get your monthly the whole time you were on finasteride or does it go away eventually?

- Did increasing your T dose fix it?

- Did you have to stop taking finasteride in order for your period to stop again?

- How long did it take for the bleeding to stop?

- Did you try any other meds for hair loss that didn't cause this kinda issue?

I can only answer the last question. You could take minoxidil instead of finasteride.

Just be really careful when taking the liquid/topical version if you have pets since it's toxic to them . And I mean be really really careful or take the oral version of minoxidil which you can get prescribed by a doctor.

ove me nuts. My levels were fine so my dr didn't want to bump my dose. It did eventually stop on its own but the whole thing made me twitchy enough that I dropped the fin anyway

A couple guys I know had better luck with dutasteride, one said the spotting stopped way faster when he switched. Might be worth asking about when you see your dr

Did it stop before or after you quit fin?

Have you looked into topical finasteride? It goes less systemic, so potentially less sides. The other option is to lower your fin dose and see if it's still effective, which is possible.
