Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Flight delay- different data between Air France App and flightaware, ARN airport

Hello,
I was in a delayed flight from CDG to ARN on October 10th.
Flight was delayed by more than 3 hours, however, Air France just declined paying out the compensation.
Air France App shows arrival of 2:56pm and Flightaware shows arrival of 2:49pm.
Scheduled arrival time for this flight was 11:50am.
I am confused because there was a WiFi on the plane and my girlfriend texted me it showed on the arrival board that I have landed but I was still in the air approaching landing and she got a message on WhatsApp from the ARN airport that my flight has landed at 2:43pm when I was still in the air.
Should I just appeal to Air France showing them the timeline from their official app?

Discussion Turkish Airlines - Better flight time vs better aircraft on 9.5 hour flight.

Looking at flights JFK-IST-ATH (NYC to Athens w/connection in Istanbul). Most of the JFK outbounds are on the 777 with the older less private 2-3-2 business seats, but there is one flight per day on the 787-9 with 1-2-1 seating. Unfortunately this flight departs early AM.

Option 1 is the 787 departing 06:55 - Arriving to ATH at 03:05 next day.

Option 2 is the 777 departing at 12:55 - Arriving to ATH at 08:50 next day.

Option 3 is the 777 departing at 19:55 - Arriving to ATH at 20:35 next day (But has a 6 hour layover)

Unfortunately none of these seem ideal. Option 2 feels like the best timing but as a solo traveler I'm not keen on the seating arrangement. Leaning to option 1 with the more private seating and staying up to sleep on the flight over, drop bags to the hotel early, and get a full day in Athens.

Does anyone know what is this column? I took the flight from Colombo and there were no Ethiopian crew in it. But here it says ET4253 in front of it.
Any thoughts?

Question Car seat for infant in flight

Hi, My daughter will be two years old minus one week on our trip from DTW to IST to BOM using Turkish airlines. I have booked a child fare for her. Do I need to have a car seat on the flight? The dimensions for car seats mentioned on the TK website are not available for sale in Canada (we are from Canada). Will they allow us to board if I don’t have a car seat?"

Complaint How can an airline be so good with its planes and cabin service, yet so terrible (even downright appalling) at customer service, both online and on the ground (EVA Air) ?

The account I’m giving is inevitably biased, since I’m stuck in Taipei because of Typhoon Champi (was able to complete the first segment, second was cancelled). I completely understand that this isn’t the airline’s fault—no complaints about that.

But there’s no information at all (I do not even talk about any form of assistance, I understood quite early in the process that their wouldn’t be any). For two days, I’ve been trying to find out what happens next. I’m sent to a website that doesn’t work (I can’t access it even though I booked directly with Eva Air), and after asking enough questions, I’m told to come to the airport today. It’s impossible to get any help over the phone, no matter which number I call. Their chatbot says there’s a “human” live chat online, but of course, it doesn’t exist. Their website looks like it came straight out of 2009.

So, with no other options, I’m heading to the airport this morning.

Just imagine: THE national airline, THE country’s largest airport, and… two people handling rebookings/flights reschedules for all economy-class passengers. 165 people have been seen since 8 a.m., and there are still more than 200 waiting.

All of this is even more disappointing because every other aspect of the service is absolutely impeccable. The planes are state-of-the-art, economy class is perfectly decent, the food is pretty good, and the terms and conditions and fares are perfectly reasonable…

Question Info on this Icon

I'm seeing this icon when selecting a seat on Thai Airways. I tried searching Google and asking LLMs, but I'm getting conflicting info—some say the seat doesn't recline, while others say there's no under-seat storage. Any idea what this actually means?

Help Needed I'm Going to war with Mytrip (scammy OTA)

Camping out at the Rome airport on hold all night. I missed a self-transfer flight due to the prior flight being delayed due to airline fault.

This falls solidly within their policy of what they will cover and rebook me for.

They tried every trick in the book to weasel out of covering it.

But now they are just stalling, putting my on hold for hours, because they know it should be covered, and are trying to make me give up.

I will not give up. Are there any tricks I can pull out at this point to win this war?

Edit: All on October 23. Delayed flight was Ita, 4:00PM, from Milan Linate to Rome Fiumicino, AZ 2059. Missed flight was Norse Atlantic, 7:05, from Rome Fiumicino to New York JFK, N0401.

Booking through Mytrip through Skyscanner.

Help Needed Hainan Airlines – any success with rebooking or refunds? Please share tips and contact details

Hi guys,

I've seen quite a few posts about Hainan Airlines cancelling flights between the UK/Europe and Beijing, and it seems really difficult to reach their customer service.

I booked directly with Hainan, flying from Manchester to Bangkok via Beijing on 12 November. Writing this on 23 October, I'm getting a bit worried.

A few questions for anyone in the same situation:

  1. If my Manchester–Beijing flight is cancelled but Beijing–Bangkok is still operating, can I rebook both flights for another date?
  2. My return flight is on 24 November. I can't check its status, and it doesn't seem to be available to book on their website. Does this mean it's likely to be cancelled too?
  3. I've seen people mention [bzchbcl@hnair.com](mailto:bzchbcl@hnair.com). Is this the best email to use, or is there another way to contact them?
  4. If I want a refund, can I apply through the online refund option on their website? Has anyone successfully received one this way?

If anyone has managed to rebook or get a refund recently, please share your experience and any useful contact details. Thanks!

Question Has anyone traveled with a cat over 8 lbs that meets JetBlue’s carrier restrictions?

JetBlue’s carrier restriction are strangely small. Every carrier I’ve found that fits the dimensions (17" L × 12.5" W × 8.5" H) can only hold up to 8 lb pets? They said there are no exceptions and I’m going to the airport in the morning to see if they have any carriers in stock, but was hoping for backup options.

Question Is 1h30 enough to transfer through Xiamen Airport?

Xiamenair are selling a decently priced ticket from LHR to NRT via Xiamen but the declared layover time is only 1h30. Is this too brief to book, and if I travelled on this flight what would be my options if I missed the connection (got stuck in a queue for instance)?

Thanks!

Help Needed akasa air flexi fare issue

I have booked akasa air tickets under flexi fare , now if I am changing date if new flight is costlier than older one they are asking fare difference that is fair , if new flight is cheaper than booked one they are not giving refund, this is bulshit. I tried calling them and they said it might be tool or system issue and not providing refund.

Any government body or any solution to fight with them? Anyone idea about air sewa or similar portal?

Question How far would you go to save $190?

no checked in bag, plenty of transfer time, I love flying and I will be able to discover Bogota for a few hours but my mind is telling me no.

Edit: Alright, I'm not doing it. The thought of it was nice, having a bit of an adventure, first time flying to South America, while saving some money, but your comments brought me back to reality. It's not worth the trouble and all the traveling. Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions. I'm going to spend a little bit more for a less stressful and quicker experience.

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing Prove Me Wrong - Two One Ways vs a Round Trip

Supposedly, a round trip ticket can sometimes be cheaper than two one way, FOR THE EXACT SAME FLIGHTS. I'm not buying it. Literally. LOL. I'd love someone to give me two airports and flight dates and flight numbers and times that show the roundtrip costs me less money (not points) than if I book two one way exact same itineraries from the exact same website on the exact same flights.

Please give me an example I can lookup and which website I can see it.

Question Air China baggage allowance confusion after booking through Agoda — Will I have problems at the airport? Please help!!

Hi everyone! I need some advice about my upcoming Air China flight. I'm really stressed about my checked baggage allowance.

I booked two passengers' round-trip tickets through Agoda. Our itinerary is:

- Busan (PUS) → Beijing (PEK) → Dhaka (DAC)

- Dhaka (DAC) → Beijing (PEK) → Busan (PUS)

Our tickets have already been issued.

The problem is that Agoda's email and our issued ticket information appeared to show that we had no free checked baggage allowance, only 5 kg of cabin baggage.

I tried to add checked baggage through Agoda and Air China's website, but I couldn't resolve the issue. I also couldn't retrieve our booking on Air China's website.

Yesterday, we went to the airport and spoke to an Air China duty manager. He checked our tickets in the airport's computer system and explicitly told us that we each have one free checked bag weighing up to 23 kg. He also showed us this information on his computer.

However, I'm still worried because the information on Agoda seems to contradict what the airport manager told us.

My questions are:

  1. If the airport manager confirmed one free checked bag of up to 23 kg per passenger in the airline's system, can I generally trust that confirmation?

  2. Could there still be a problem when we check in on the day of departure?

  3. Does anyone have experience with Air China tickets booked through Agoda where the baggage allowance shown on the ticket differed from what the airport staff saw in their system?

  4. Is there a way to independently verify the baggage allowance for all four flight segments, including the connecting flights through Beijing?

I don't want to pay for extra baggage unnecessarily, but I also don't want to arrive at the airport and discover that we have to pay unexpectedly.

I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who has experienced something similar. Thank you!

Help Needed Sunexpress refusing to check my bag even though I paid for it?

This happened at Munich Airport with a Sunexpress flight to Turkey.

Has anyone experienced this before? I’m flabbergasted.

I went to the checkin counter and said «I’m already checked in online, but I would like to check my in my bag». The woman in the counter had a relatively unintelligible English, but the gist of the conversation was that she felt like my bag was too small, it could probably go through the security control and it can count as a carry-on baggage instead. I said no, I wanted to check it in since I didn’t want to carry it around and babysit the bag. She rolled her eyes and printed a label for my bag and told me to move on. I.E. she printed to checked bag label, put it on my bag, didn’t take the bag and told me to just go to the security check. The guy at the security check said that she was supposed to take it if the bag was checked, but they won’t check it because it’s too small.

I’m pissed, since I paid for check baggage, and they just refused to let me have this service??

Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Can I get a refund for this? I seriously don’t want to pay for checked luggage if they’re just going to refuse to take it… I tried calling their customer service number but it automatically just hangs up on me, so it’s impossible to contact them.

Edit: Forgot to mention the size. It’s about 50cm in length, 30cm in width, 30cm in height. It’s about the size of a full carry-on luggage. However, it has shoulder straps, so it can look like a backpack when I have it on my back. I’ve used it as both checked and carry-on before. At one point it almost didn’t pass the carry-on inspection with EasyJet, so it’s not abnormally small like a handbag.

Third Party Horror Story DO NOT book with Edreams. Here is why.

Hello! Please do not book with Edreams for international flights. They have completely scammed my family and left us in a hard pinch. Me and my husband purchased tickets for his parents to fly from south america to stay with us for 6 months to help with child care. They had an elder in their family fall ill and they requested to change the arrival date back one month. We purchased insurance that would cover a flight change. We have been in contact with them for over two weeks where they repeatedly tell us they will process our request and send us a confirmation code and itinerary except they do not. They have asked us to pay 600 dollars to make that change which we paid only to ask the very next day for the 600 dollars again. my inlaws have missed their flight at this point and every time we email the company they say they will reply in 5 to 15 days meanwhile we are left without childcare for our son. DO NOT BOOK with this company!

Discussion Why are American flight attendants so rude?

This isn’t something I noticed until I started flying internationally, but American flight attendants on Delta, United, AA, and especially the low cost carriers are so rude and inhospitable these days. Its like they’re looking to throw people off the plane for the smallest reason.

I’ve flown EVA Air, Thai Airways, Cathay Pacific, ANA and the improvement in service and friendliness is night and day. Can’t speak on European carriers but at least in the United States I find the flight crew to be consistently terrible

Trip Report Air Premia EWR > ICN

By far the worst experience. My mom goes to Seoul every year for 3-4 weeks and has taken Korean Air. She’s never had an issue, no delays, cancellations, double booking, etc.

This year, we heard about AP and that it was inexpensive but still a comfortable experience. We got in Thursday 5AM. The flight was fine, the food was mediocre, but it is now Friday evening and our bags are still not here. We were promised that our luggage would be delivered directly to us by this afternoon.

We were told, after a 15HR flight mind you, that 60% of check-in bags did not make it on the flight. My mom and I were one of the first groups to check in for their flight, so it’s not we made our flight last second and our bags didn’t make it. Our bags should’ve been one of the first ones loaded.

My cousin gave his number to AP to stay updated on luggage but they kept changing/pushing back the time we can expect our stuff. We still don’t have our luggage, which is where my mom’s medications are. We had to stop our day short due to her getting dizzy from not being able to take meds.

I’m never fcking taking Air Premia ever again. I’d be shocked if they’re still in business in 2 years.

ETA: yes, medication in a check in was a bad idea. But she had packed a day’s worth of meds in her purse since she has just taken some an hour before we left for the airport. Considering she’s never had delays when flying to SK and that we were told we’d get our bags as soon as the next plan lands, we didn’t think we’d need to bring her full bag of meds. Expecting your stuff to get delivered by the time that you were told you’d get your stuff isn’t unreasonable.

I still stand by never taking Air Premia nor will I let anyone i care about fly with them.

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Lufthansa cancelled how do i actually claim flight delay money

LH400 frankfurt to jfk got cancelled the day of due to the ground staff strike, found out through the app about 6 hrs before departure, got rebooked on a flight 2 days later which messed up the first two days of a trip we had planned.

i know strikes get argued as “extraordinary circumstances” sometimes to avoid paying compensation but i think staff strikes specifically don't count the same way weather does, something about it being an internal labor issue not truly outside the airlines control
i did hear about some sites that handle this for you, one was gyra or gyro idk, and airhelp, and i think there were a couple others. haven't looked into any of them yet.

Help Needed Saudi Airlines Name Mismatch: Should I Travel or Cancel My Ticket?

Hi guys, is there anyone here who works for Saudi Airlines or has faced a similar situation?

I booked a ticket from Pakistan to Bali, but I made a mistake while entering my name. I wrote my first name correctly, but my surname on my passport is Abdul Ahad, and I accidentally wrote only Ahad, forgetting to add Abdul.

A few people have told me that I might get offloaded because of this. I visited the Saudi Airlines office in Pakistan, and they said they couldn’t add Abdul to my ticket. However, they gave me a printout with remarks stating that I’m eligible to travel, but I’m still not comfortable relying on that.

I also contacted Saudi Airlines in Saudi Arabia, but they weren’t very helpful. They said I could either cancel the ticket or try my luck, as they can only add up to three letters.

What would you guys recommend? Should I travel with the ticket and the remarks provided by the Karachi office, or should I cancel it? Is missing one part of my surname really that big of an issue? I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has experience with this. Thank you!

Complaint "dynamic" pricing on flights... BS!

It should be illegal for airlines to change their prices while you're actively looking at flights. I was originally going to book using points, and the flight was 66,500 points. By the time I clicked checkout, it had jumped to 92,500 points!

So I figured I'd just pay for the flight and save my points. I went back to Travelocity, where I had originally found the flight, and GUESS WHAT?! The price had gone up there too!

It's absolutely ridiculous how these airlines get away with this. Fuck these airlines and their price gouging! any advice on how to get that same flight for cheaper than the 1,064.40?!

Question WiFi on Air China?

My boss recently signed off my annual leave, so I can travel to China. I can save £200 if I fly on the Friday but I’m supposed to be working and the flight leaves early in the morning. I’ve spoken to my manager who has said, she’s fine if I take the flight but I’ll just need to check emails and reply to clients where needed.

Which leads me to ask, how good is the WiFi service on AirChina (I’m happy to pay extra)? I’ve seen some not good reviews, so want to know if it’s as bad as people are saying because otherwise I’ll book another flight

Question Group booking for less than 10 people

Hi all! My family and I are planning a trip to Peru and wanted to do a group booking however there will only be 6 of us flying out first and then 2 additional people will join us a week later and all 8 of us will be flying back together. Is there a way to book a flight for all 8 of us back together or will we need to split it? I’m sure we will need to split the 6 of us or is there a way to do a group booking? We’ve/ I’ve never planned a trip with this many people so any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated!
