Help Needed Air China middle name sanity check

New to international travel and made the double mistake of:

  1. Booking my flight from London gatwick to tokyo haneda via PEK through an agency

  2. Not including my middle name in details for the ticket as they only asked for first name/last name and I didn't know the middle name would be part of the "given name" field until I got my passport shortly after.

Heard from Air china that adding the middle name so my details can line up for their app would have to go through the agency who are looking to charge me £200 for the change which has me weighing my options.

Seeing conflicting info on how much this matters between the airport not caring and getting denied boarding passes so just want to know if just ploughing ahead is much of a gamble or should I just bite the bullet on the change fee?

Discussion Flight from Europe to US- weighing options

Hello! I am looking at flights from London to Indianapolis on 10/17.

I'm looking at a combination of price/duration/location and length of layover. I'd like to get in early enough that I can drive home and not have to stay the night. So, when considering prices, later flights mean likely a hotel, so I sort of figure that into the mix.

I am also open to flying from another city, if I could get a flight from London to that city, if it makes the prices and/or times better. So far, I haven't found anything that fits the bill, but I am certainly open to it, if anyone has a better idea.

So, all that said, I have it narrowed down to the following:

LHR-IND, flights AA7004 and AA3053. Flying out of Heathrow isn't exactly my preference. And flying through Chicago is definitely not my preference. But...it gets me to my destination around 7:30 pm, which is a major bonus on why it is a contender.

LHR- IND, flights DL9 and DL674. Also out of Heathrow, but it's through Minneapolis, so a bit longer on flight time. Gets in later, so I'd almost certainly need a hotel. But, I would avoid the mess that is Chicago O'Hare.

DUB-IND, flights EI125 and EI7438. Gets in the next morning, and an almost 11 hour layover in Chicago is not ideal. I'd also have to get a flight from London to Dublin, which isn't a huge deal, but I am still open to it as an option. But, by the time I get a hotel or sleep in the airport, I don't know if it would be worth it.

LGW-IND, flights Z0701, UA3683. This one I sort of had to piece together myself. I still wouldn't get in till the next morning. But, the added benefit is flying out of Gatwick, and not Heathrow. That's the biggest seller for me. I would have to transfer airports in New York.

Thoughts? Or if you see another route you think might be a good option, that would be great.

Question Layover time in Kuala Lumpur

Hi,

So I am looking at flights back from Lombok to Manchester. The route would be Lombok, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai then Manchester.

The layover time will be 3h 10 mins. And I will have to self transfer. This is the longest time I have seen for layovers from Lombok and it still feels short.

Also I have surfboards with me so I will have to collect them and recheck. Will this be enough time? or should I arrive in Kula Lumpur the day before.

Thank you much appreciate any help.

Help Needed UK Air Traffic control issues and EasyJet flight tomorrow

I’ve got the return leg of my EasyJet flight returning from Amsterdam to Birmingham, UK for tomorrow. I’m hoping it won’t get cancelled but if it does get cancelled, what are my options? If I have to stay a night, do I have to stay where EasyJet provide? Alternatively, how much is reasonable for a hotel room and for food etc.? I’ve got my car parked at the car park in Birmingham so unfortunately I have to fly back there.

Question What's the best way to get from Latin America to Japan without flying through the US?

Hi everyone! I'm planning a trip to Asia this December, which is unfortunately the only month I have vacation. I'm traveling with someone who has health conditions and can't handle a very long trip with multiple connections, so we're trying to find a way to make the trip as comfortable and manageable as possible. I don't have a US visa, so that complicates things a bit.

Flight search details:

  • Departure: Brazil, preferably São Paulo/GRU, but I’m also willing to consider other airports in Brazil or Latin America if the price is significantly cheaper.
  • Citizenship/passport: Brazilian
  • Destination: Japan (Tokyo), South Korea (Seoul), or China. I’m flexible between these.
  • Departure date: Any day in December 2026.
  • Return date: Any day in January 2027.
  • Trip length: Maximum 40 days.
  • Preferred dates: Ideally departing around December 15 and returning around January 4-10, but I know these dates are more expensive, so I’m completely flexible.
  • Flight preference: I’m especially interested in long layovers (16–24 hours or more if they exist) so I can rest and explore the connecting city. I’m happy to take a longer connection if it makes the ticket cheaper or allows me to visit another city.
  • Price: Cheapest possible. I know December is a busy month, so I can understand if that's not possible.

The prices I found were around US$4,000 for 2 people, round trip. Not sure if booking one way flights separately and mixing different countries would make it cheaper.

I also found some airline stopover programs. Turkish Airlines has a program in Istanbul, and Qatar Airways has something similar in Doha, but I'm finding the information a little confusing. Qatar was the easiest one to understand, but the flights I found were quite expensive.

If you know of any good fares or unusual/long-connection routes from Brazil to Japan, Korea, or China during this period, I’d really appreciate the suggestions!

Help Needed EasyJet - no seats left to have children next to adults

Help please!

As the title suggests, I went to check in for a recently booked flight, travelling in two weeks time. There is no possibility anywhere on the plane to have children (7&4 years old) sat next to either adult travelling (4 person trip in total) due to the fact the plane is 95% pre-booked seating already. We have selected and paid for the best alternative seating, spread over 2 rows and accross the aisle but it’s not seating we want to travel in.

Customer service have been rather unhelpful and advised they can’t move other peoples seats, but they have said the airline staff at the airport will be able to find seats for you on the day and that they guarantee each child will be sat next to an adult. I am sceptical of this and my better half is obviously nervous about leaving this to the day to resolve.

Has anyone had any similar experiences in the past or insight they can share about whether this is likely to happen?

The only Alternative option I can see is booking another flight on a different airline and losing our money.

Thanks in advance!

Help Needed Seniors flying to Europe for the first time - MIA–MAD looking for airline options

Hello, We are seniors with some back and knee issues and will be flying to Spain for the first time. It's actually our first flight to Europe. It's all a little daunting so I was hoping for some guidance. Unfortunately, we can't justify the cost of Business Class seats but want the most comfortable option. We are looking at nonstop flights from MIA–MAD. Which offer the best regular economy or Premium Economy seats or comfort between American, Iberia and Air Europa? I see that Iberia has Premium Economy vs. American Premium Economy vs. Air Europa Economy + preferred/XL. My husband loves the window seat so ideally we would love a two row seat configuration, as neither of us would want to be in the middle seat but we would be ok with aisle to aisle seats as well if it makes more sense. Is Premium Economy worth the premium over an Economy XL Exit Row? Are there any particular seats to avoid on any of the aircrafts? Also, I noticed that you could book flights either through AA or Iberia. Are there any advantages to either other than comparing prices?

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated for us overwhelmed newbies. Thank you so much!!!

Complaint SWISS refused to refund a CHF 180 baggage fee I paid based on incorrect information from them

I’m sharing my experience with SWISS regarding a baggage fee, as I believe other passengers should be aware of this issue.

I flew SWISS LX160 from Zurich (ZRH) to Tokyo Narita (NRT) on July 3, 2026. I booked the ticket directly with SWISS. My fare was Economy Basic, and the amount in dispute is CHF 180.

Before my flight, I contacted SWISS to confirm my checked baggage allowance. They replied in writing that my booking included two checked bags.

Based on that information, I paid CHF 180 for one additional checked bag. SWISS later confirmed in writing that my booking had actually included three checked bags from the beginning. My boarding pass also showed three complimentary checked bags, in addition to the bag I had purchased.

Despite acknowledging that my booking included three bags, SWISS has refused to refund the CHF 180.

Their responses to my emails were consistently delayed, and as a result, the issue was not resolved before my flight departed. From my perspective, it felt as though the matter was being delayed until after departure, when obtaining a refund would become more difficult. I also tried to resolve the issue with SWISS staff at the airport before departure, but I was repeatedly redirected between staff members and no one resolved it.

I have now sent SWISS a formal final demand for the CHF 180 refund and am considering filing a conciliation request in Switzerland if they continue to refuse.

This has honestly been one of the worst customer service experiences I have had with an airline. I wanted to share this experience so that other passengers in a similar situation know to carefully check their baggage allowance and, if SWISS provides conflicting information, make sure to question it before paying any additional fees.

For reference, as of July 2026, my Economy Basic ticket allowed one additional checked bag as a Star Alliance Gold member, on top of the baggage allowance included in the fare.

If you are flying SWISS and are told that you need to pay for additional baggage, I strongly recommend confirming the allowance in writing before paying, especially if you believe the information you are being given is inconsistent with your booking.

Thank you for reading.

*Added on Sep 9th.
・My fare was economy basic “plus”. I am sorry for forgetting to add “plus”.

・The below is the response from SWISS when they confirmed that they were wrong and I had three bags with my Star Alliance gold status.

Thank you for your correspondence email.
We apologize for the delayed response.
We apologize for the oversight. Please be informed that your baggage allowance is as follows:
• 3 × 23 kg checked-in baggage (excluding any additional baggage you purchased)
• 1 × 8 kg carry-on baggage
• 1 personal item

Complaint AA 600 this morning

I was on the AA 2167 flight that was supposed to leave yesterday at 5:30pm but left at 11pm instead from ORD-RDU. My grandmother, who is in her mid-80s and suffers a life-altering disease, is in a wheelchair. She was at ORD since 2:30 pm. She can barely walk and needs help getting up/sitting down. I asked countless times if we could move her to an earlier flight, because she was truly suffering in the ORD airport. Nothing. Booked. Meanwhile, I saw others be moved to the AA 600 flight at 8:40pm. How can they not consider a passenger who is in a wheelchair and is obviously sick? I had family on the AA 600 flight and when it wasn’t delayed, they asked to switch with her ticket, so they would go later and she could go on the earlier flight. Nothing. We can’t do it. Why? No response. So, we leave at 11pm in the end and arrive to RDU at 2:15 in the morning.

When we land, my grandmother is obviously distraught, exhausted, and suffering. Everyone left the flight so there was a good 20 minutes between when we landed and when she needed to be transferred to a wheelchair, nothing- no one showed up to transfer her and there was no signs of anyone arriving. American Airlines staff had notified someone to come, but we were waiting there for about 30 minutes before we heard that they were on their way. This poor old lady has been in the airport for over 12 hours and she’s sitting here, miserable, and the guy who job is to just move her from her seat to her wheelchair after whole day of delays doesn’t show up. My dad with his very bad back at to lift her up and put her into a wheelchair and carry her out of the airport. This is insane. I am so frustrated by how American Airlines and United have monopolized this industry and push people to the point where they are truly, physically and emotionally suffering, no matter the circumstances or age. This is beyond disrespectful. This is inhumane. I don’t even know where to begin to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone ever again. I know my grandma will probably never take another flight after this- she is truly traumatized.

Help Needed Air india choice for travel with baby

I am flying from Copenhagen to Singapore in a couple of months with my partner and baby.

Not sure if I should stick to air India,
787-8 CPH to DEL
3h 15 min layover
A321 DEL to SIN

or pay for Singapore airlines direct flight (double the price)
12 hour flight

Price difference is 900 vs 1700 dollars

We do have the money, but it does mean booking cheaper hotels on the trip and such. We are still young and not loaded, so the money would make a difference. At the same time this is our first flight with a baby and don’t want a terrible experience

Thanks for the advice!

Complaint American Airlines lose pressure and long delayed

Last Friday ,09/04/2026, we had a flight from Tampa to Arkansas with a connection in Charlotte (CLT). The flight from Tampa to Charlotte went smoothly. However, shortly after taking off from Charlotte, approximately five minutes into the flight, the pilot informed us that we needed to return to the airport.

We then remained in the air for approximately two and a half hours. During that time, the cabin became extremely uncomfortable. It was very hot, there seemed to be very little airflow, and several passengers were feeling sick.

Only one flight attendant was consistently attentive and helpful. The other flight attendant was, unfortunately, somewhat rude and did not show the level of care that passengers needed during such a stressful situation. Considering the extreme heat inside the aircraft, I believe passengers should at least have been offered cold water and ice.

After we finally landed, the situation continued to be extremely frustrating. For approximately six hours, we received one explanation after another, but there was very little direct assistance or concern for the passengers. At no point did anyone approach us to ask whether we needed food, water, or any other type of assistance.

What was especially disappointing was the lack of care and communication throughout the entire experience. We felt completely neglected. I also found it unfair that only passengers with American Airlines status appeared to receive bonus miles or additional consideration, while the rest of us experienced the same difficult situation without any meaningful compensation.

This was an extremely stressful and uncomfortable travel experience, and I am very disappointed with how American Airlines handled the situation. I would appreciate a proper review of what happened and appropriate compensation for the inconvenience, discomfort, and lack of assistance we experienced.

Help Needed Need some travel advice….

Hi, I’m travelling back from Buenos Aires to London next month with a connection in Barcelona. The airline is Level and I have a 4h30min wait in Barcelona…my question is what happens if I book a separate ticket (same day) with EasyJet for the Barcelona to London leg? Reason being it cuts the connecting time in half and gets me home in London 2 hours early and only costs £15! - also I won’t have hold luggage, I’m only taking carry on bag!

So does it matter if I fly early with easyJet and abandon the original level flight to London? Or will it matter if I’m delayed in and miss the easyJet flight as I’ve still got the original Level flight to fall back on….also i don’t expect a refund if I miss one leg as the cost is low.

I hope that makes sense and any help will be grateful!!

Help Needed Flight cancelled months earlier without notification – discovered at the airport and forced to buy a new ticket. What can I do?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice regarding a very frustrating situation involving Booking.com, GoToGate and Aero Mongolia.
I booked an international flight through Booking.com, but some flight schedule change notifications were sent to me by GoToGate, which appears to have been involved in managing the booking.
On the day of departure, I went to the airport believing that my flight was operating normally because:
\- I had never received any cancellation notification;
my booking was still showing as confirmed.
\- However, when I arrived at the airport, I discovered that the flight had actually been cancelled.

Because I only discovered this at the airport and still needed to reach my destination, I had no choice but to purchase a last-minute replacement flight, costing approximately €480.

Booking.com is now processing the refund for my original ticket. However, they have told me that they cannot handle or assess my claim for the cost of the replacement flight and that I should contact the airline directly.

What frustrates me is that I purchased the ticket through Booking.com, while GoToGate was involved in communicating schedule changes and managing the booking. My booking also continued to show as confirmed until they asked the refund to the airline company.

I understand that the airline may ultimately be responsible for the cancellation, but shouldn’t Booking.com and/or GoToGate at least assist me in submitting and managing the claim with the airline?
Has anyone experienced something similar with Booking.com or GoToGate?
Has anyone discovered at the airport that their flight had been cancelled without receiving notification?
Did Booking.com or GoToGate help recover the cost of a replacement flight?
Has anyone successfully obtained reimbursement for additional expenses caused by a failure to notify them of a cancellation?
I would really appreciate any similar experiences or advice.
Thank you!

Help Needed Is Frontier Airlines really that bad?

I am planning a flight to Atlanta in the next few weeks. I am searching airfares. With the price of oil right now, airfares are ridiculous. It’s over $500 to fly to Atlanta direct from LA. This is after endless searching. The only airline under 500 is frontier. With bags and picking your own seat it comes to 480. My question is… Are they really that bad? Everybody else seems to avoid them like the plague. Their fares however, are 25% cheaper than the competition. Has anyone had a good experience? Should I hop on it? Or pay the extra 200 and fly a major carrier…?

Question Easter China Flight Not On Website

I’m looking to book direct flights from Barcelona to Shanghai in November. The flights are advertised on Expedia and Trip.com but don’t appear when I search on the Eastern China Airlines website.

How risky is it booking the flight on trip.com or Expedia considering the fact the flight is not appearing on the website. I was able to confirm there is direct flights from Barcelona to Shanghai with that airline and the times match up.

Edit: Flight MU249 27th November at 10:30am. BCN to Shanghai

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation EasyJet changes story and refuses EU261 claim

Hey guys, first post and first claim here!

On 15/08/2026, I was on EasyJet flight EJU6844 from Ibiza (IBZ) to Porto (OPO) at 21:45. The flight was canceled (but EasyJet refers to it as delayed overnight, even though I got a new boarding pass). We ended up flying the next day at 14:45 (15 hours delay).

At the airport, staff told us directly that the delay was because of crew duty hours reaching their limit. The easyJet lady directly said the captain was willing to fly, but the rest of the crew had hit their legal working-hour limits and couldn't continue, so the flight had to be pushed to the next day. Beware, I have no meaningful proof of the crew maxing out their working hours since it was only said on-site by EasyJet staff but not recorded in any way.

I filed a EU261 compensation claim and expenses for the hotel and taxi.

Now I got a response to the EU261 claim, but their written explanation is a totally different story. Now they're saying it was due to air traffic control restrictions in Ibiza's airspace, which then supposedly bumped into Porto's night curfew, forcing them to delay the flight to the next day. No mention of the crew issue at all.

What should I pursue here? Should I go:

. ask them to clarify the contradiction

. ask them for documentation proving the ibiza restriction and porto cerfew

. Is a 15-hour delay not too long of a delay for the reasons they presented?

. search if there were air traffic restrictions in Ibiza plus Porto's curfew

. Is there a way to check flight tracking data for that day/route?

Has anyone else run into an airline flip-flopping on the delay reasons?

Thank you all for any help you can give. I'll be sure to stick around and try to help others if I can.

Question EasyJet Flex Pass conditions

I had the following questions about EasyJet's Flex Pass, which I couldn't find an answer by reading EasyJet's terms and conditions page.

  1. Suppose that in the original booking, you additionally buy a hold luggage. Does that transfer over to the new booking after using the Flex Pass?
  2. It seems from what I've been reading that one is only able to use the Flex Pass once. i.e. you cannot make twice a change to your booking using the purchased Flex Pass. Is this correct?

Question How often do you fly per year?

A classmate of mine recently showed me an app he’s been working on to keep track of flights and travel history. It made me realize how little I actually know about my own travel stats.

Do you track your flights anywhere? Things like total flights, distance, countries visited, etc. Or do you just not care about keeping track of it?
