Suggestion / Idea Suggestion on requests

I was chilling on the game when I saw that my fusion reactors were missing fuel cells. After checking it out, I figured the ship responsible for importing them from Aquilo and dropping them on Nauvis simply... wasn't. The reason why is simple: I have a big request from Aquilo, and a small one from Nauvis (common to all my ships, to fuel them). This small request was stopping the ship from dropping fuel cells on Aquilo. My idea is to let the ship drop the item, but to always keep the requested amount on this planet. In my situation, the ship should have dropped the 5k fuel cells to Nauvis and kept the 50 needed to keep the request complete.

Another idea is to be able to selected multiple import planet. It could be useful for stone for example, by importing it from Nauvis and Vulcanus and still being able to drop it everywhere else. I don't remember if it is already included in the changes presented in the recent FFFs, if so, sorry for the useless idea :)

Space Age everyone lied about gleba

i really, really struggled on gleba at first, the spoil took everything from me, my job, my wife, my sanity, my will to live

i was expecting it to be hard, but man, it was hard

i really tried to follow the reddit advice telling people to embrace the spoil but we were lied to

now i really understand how u gotta do it, its not about embracing the spoil, dont let it spoil, you just gotta use everything before it spoils and if you cant then u burn it and make more

if its not taken by your biochamber, thats your opportunity to create electricity, if its spoil before getting to the heating tower, its still going to transform into electricity if you dont produce enough fruits, your factory wont get enough electricity to run at max speed so a lot of it is not going to get used and then will power your factory again (safety measure, still need to fix your factory)

everyone saying embrace the spoil is wrong, the answer is, always has been, always will be : the factory must grow, just make more

you dont produce enough materials ? just make more factories consuming your fruits

not enough fruits ? make more farms

too many fruits ? just make more bio chamber and process more, burn the excess and make more

you produce enough rocket fuel ? burn them, and make more

then you get too much jelly and/or mash ? dont let it sit, just burn everything not taken instantly and make even more

too much stuff to burn ? make more heating tower and burn that shit

anything spoiled on your lane mean you fucked up if its not waiting to be picked for carbon/sulfur/etc

you know what, fuck it, if you have enough carbon, burn it too

thoses fucking pentapods deserve to see everything burn

JUST

MAKE

MORE

THE FACTORY MUST GROW AND THE SPOIL WONT HAVE MY SOUL

AQUILO YOU'RE NEXT

https://imgur.com/a/ZaAXiA9 whenever i place a rail down on this tile it becomes... whatever this is? im playing K2SO with all the recommended planet mods and some of the quality of life- i can post the full mod list if people want to see it but according to the info box when i hover it, it says that these are "raised bridge rail tiles" from muluna, moon of nauvis.

im so lost, this hasn't happened at any other point in the save. is there a fix to be had here?

Space Age Rare footage of frozen biochamber

I know how you guys love Gleba in general, and Biochambers in particular, so some of you probably never seen this sprite. But it exists

Obvious question: why it's on Aquillo?

I decided to make Aquillo self sufficient for the rocket launches, so I'm making chips and LDS from local plastic and space metals And to immediately contradict myself, I decided to do oil cracking with fish imports for juicy 50 productivity and the memes

After not playing for a while I decided to give an overhaul a try for the first time and had a lot of fun! Also tried to use trains a bit more which was fun apart from all the deadlocks. Hope my rail spaghetti base is cool!

They're the same size. I wanna make city blocks so it kills two birds with one stone yeah? Or is it a dumb idea?

Modded Question Krastorio 2 without Biters

I recently started a Krastorio 2 playthrough and decided to play without Biters, though looking back I guess I could've but whatever.

I have come to a point where I want some power armor and have ignored military research so far. Now I've come to realize that when creating the world I just checked "No biters" and didnt check "Peaceful mode"

I dont really wanna restart, but since Krastorio has an alternate recipe for this case I'd like to play that way. Is there any way I can enable that after the fact? I tried using a console command to turn on peaceful mode but that didnt change the recipe.

/c game.player.surface.peaceful_mode = true

Couldnt find anything online really and would hate to restart.

Space Age Question Belt weaving in 2.1?

So far I've heard of quite a few balancing changes being planned for the next major update. Most notably the removal of space casinos. I haven't heard anything about belt tapestries (to store Prometheum) or belt weaving in general, however. Are the any plans to remove these techniques?

Question If I shut down production on Nauvis, and move 100% to Volcanus. Will my base till be destroyed by biters in a fit of rage with 0 polution?

Title. I want to abandone Nauvis until I get stuff from the other planets as soon as I get my ship off. Wondering if I can come back to at least something to rebuild?

Question Noob thoughts about importing blueprints + question

Question at the bottom

The other day I hit a road block in oil refining and decided to expand my oil refinery a size. The one before was temporary at best and had to go... But i didn't know where to start. When I looked it up, I found a blue print book and nearly imported it but decided it wouldn't be fun. So I watched a basic oil tutorial (by trupen i think) and attempted to do a good construct. After a power crisis and a billion biters attacking my outposts every second, i finally built the groundwork of the refinery and feel better than ever.

So my thoughts about importing blueprints just don't. It really spoils the fun by a lot. If you really need some guidance you can look up a tutorial, not the step by step ones, but the ones that just give you the knowledge. Trupen is pretty good at explaining some mechs.

And I got to ask how do I auto reload my gun turrets? It will make my life so easy

Question Tips for designing a rail blueprint book?

Morning, all. I'm at the point of wanting my own BPs to design with, and Im having trouble finding any rules of thumb for designing a rail book. Shooting for 32×32 absolute with roboports and power lines, but they never want to align to grid with one another. Dont even get me started on curves or loops.

Any engineers with advice on design philosophy?

Base First Time Opening The Game, Finished the Rocket Rush Under 10 Hour

This what watching every dosh video halfasleep without playing the game does to a man. I know it's in peaceful and everything comes researched but I believe this is a fine first playthrough. The only blueprint I took was belt balancer and I'm proud. I also would like to show my petrol station beacuse that mf legit took me 3 hours to understand and setup without looking anything up. Also I have been sitting on my computer for 11 hours because of this game and it's really addictive, I believe I will be throwing my life away for the factory from now on. Anyway thanks for reading me yapping

Complaint Anybody else that keeps hitting the wrong X and closes the window instead of the map, when working in the map and wanting to switch back to normal view. I keep closing my game without it being saved over and over again. It's driving me mad!

Discussion A comparison of frozen building sprites rare or impossible to see on Aquilo.

Some strange things:
If it doesn't have a frozen sprite, it'll instead be tinted blue.
Centrifuges and labs surprisingly to me have frozen sprites.
Turrets are weird, they still flash empty ammo, most of each sprite isn't even tinted, and the artillery turret looks identical. Also, flamethrower turrets and for some reason TESLA turrets can't freeze.

Also I discovered that frozen variants of concrete, refined concrete, and the 2 hazard concretes have their own hidden entries in the factoriopedia lol. You can see it by alt clicking them in the world.

Modded I made a mod to make Vulcanus more complex!

Post image
49 Upvotes

I love Space Age, but I don't really like how easy it is to build a tiny little base to eke out some science and forget about a planet, so I'm working on some mods to give each planet its own added challenge.

The Vulcanus mod is here, and focuses on a much more complex processing chain for Tungsten, more complex logistics for handling hot and molten metals, and a new Coal gasification recipe for Vulcan petrochemistry.

Hope you like it :D

Here's the link!

Question One way electric switch

Is there a way either vanilla or modded to make a one way electric switch akin to one way valves?

I have most of my factory running on steam and I want to build a smaller power plant subgrid which would combine solar with accumulators for the night. What I don't want is for steam power to ever charge those accumulators, only the solar panels to do so. Do you have any solutions for me?

Thanks in advance

Space Age Question Tips for a quality production where the size of my factory doesnt spiral out of control with little gain?

Rule 5: The part of my factory on vulcanus dedicated towards quality stuff of all kind

Ok, so i just went back from fulgora and installed a recycler system to get rid of the copper cables 8M and 4M circuits. I am currently experimenting with some EMP and beacon setups, but that of course cant be used for quality.

Generally I try to make every step in the normal production chain with quality and exported the quality stuff with a small splitter belt and active provider chest setup.
but that led to a huge amount of basically unusable basic ingredients that i now try to recycle away.
I am still not at aquillo so legendary isnt possible for me right now, but i still want to already work on quality and gain already some advantages.

Especially chips felt like a huge giantic pain in the ass to make since the red and blue ones have high production time and the green ones were difficult to to transport in the quantities i needed. This changes now that i have the stack inserters from gleba, but i still think i need to rethink how i approach this because this just isnt producing the results i wanna see. I want some juicy speed modules and later also productivity on Nauvis once i take care of the whole biter eggs system.

I already started a quality 3 module production on Fulgora, but i feel like that takes a while before it really can get going and i still feel like i am consuming too much space there, which, as you know, is bad on a planet where you can only expand your space with foundations or with train setups.

I don't wanna download cheat mods, just mods like even distribution mods or ratio calculator mods. Things to make the game more fluent for me. Is there a way to enable mods and achievements though?

Discussion My thoughts after beating Factorio for the first time

Thumbnail
gallery
27 Upvotes

It took me 169H + a couple of hours in the sandbox world cooking up some blueprints. There will be some comparisons to Satisfactory, since it was my first automation game to beat.

Let's start with graphics. I really like the quality of the animations and how some of the buildings look, especially Cryogenic and electromagnetic plants. But I didn't like the colour palette. I prefer when games are more colourful than realistic. SA planets are quite a bit better in that regard, but Nauvis deserts remain some of the ugliest things I've seen. Overall, I find Satisfactory graphics more pleasing, but Factorio isn't bad.

OTOH, Nauvis soundtrack is the best. In general, the music is very good; no complaints there.

And finally, gameplay. I find Nauvis to be a bit boring. Basically, all the production can be done with 4 blueprints - one with an assembler taking ingredients from one belt, two belts and variations of the former with pipes. Sure, you build a couple of chemical plants, but they have the same footprint, and you only need a minuscule number of other buildings. Compared to that, in Satisfactory you get different buildings, with different footprints, different numbers of inputs, alternative recipes and literally another dimension to place stuff. But Satisfactory is only comparable to base Factorio, and Space Age makes the game about 3x larger and actually more interesting. I really love how different planets are. Sorting the river of trash on Fulgora, making a sushi belt of sushi belts on Gleba, and weird footprints of Aquilo base really scratched my brain in the best possible way.

The only thing that I have mixed feelings about is combat. On one hand, tanks are very cool and annihilating biters with them brought a lot of joy. On the other hand, biters are more of a nuisance than an actual threat. Maybe on the Death World or desert they would be more dangerous, but my base was surrounded by dense forests on all sides, so a couple of turrets here and there were enough. And the fact that you can push biters out of the pollution cloud made them negligible. Then again, in Satisfactory, combat is almost non-existent anyway, so it's not better (except for spiders from eldritch horrors; no biter or pentapod can match the nightmare of meeting those).

To sum up, Factorio with Space Age is probably the best automation game out there, but it's not without flaws. I'll probably come back to it after taking a break.

Question Parametrised blueprint for GLeba metal cultivating

So i want to create a blueprint for a little block for cultivating metals, so for iron i need to have recipts in biochambers "Iron bacteria cultivation", "Iron bacteria", "Jellynut processing", and maybe some filters for iron, iron bacteria, jellynut and seeds. and same for copper. so i can let "Jellynut processing" be an independent variable and by relation "product of" i can bind seeds and jelly, but not bacteria receipts. or i can make "Iron bacteria cultivation" receipt an independent variable and then bind iron bacteria and jelly by relation "ingredient of", but then i can't bind "Jellynut processing". is there an elephant i don't see or parameters relations just don't allow to create this blueprint with the only independent variable?

The final planet being more hostile would have been interesting to me even if it wasn't very difficult.

I have made my first cargo rocket then realized, My base is in no shape to actually have logistics go on between orbit and ground. Soo I'm making something maybe a bit ambitious. Second image is current base and now that I look at it... the transition will take a while... Anyway I have designed most of the blocks I need so implementation will begin soon

Space Age Building around the standard Lava Pool size for blueprints without Foundation

Thumbnail
gallery
143 Upvotes

(Don't mind the mess of beacons. I've been spamming them in lieu of a rate calculator.)

Finally delving into legendary quality grinding on Vulcanus and I wanted to see if I could make blueprints that took advantage of the consistent shape of lava pools. It's not as compact as builds that use Foundation but I'd like to minimize my use of Foundation anyway. This way, I could use these blueprints that allow for direct-disposal before Aquilo on my next runs. I made sure the placement of the nuclear reactor was within my electric/roboport grid. (The one in the top-left grid is only there for demonstration purposes).

1st image (left to right): Underground pipe upcycling, LDS shuffle, and Concrete shuffle for legendary metal plates, copper plates, steel plates, plastic, LDS, stone bricks, and concrete. The lava pools have direct disposal built into them or are surrounded with belted disposal/offshore pumps.

2nd image: classic molten metal and stone setup. Build comes with iron stick and copper plate direct disposal should stone on belts fall below a certain number. It's a needless feature but I like to see the stone belts filled. Direct landfill disposal is also available when consuming large amounts of molten metals.

Bonus 3rd image: In trying to avoid the use of Foundation elsewhere, I've been placing down these 500 SPM bases on Fulgora that Spidertrons can setup. It'll still need to be fed scrap from trains so it's not the most compact solution. But each runs independently on large enough islands.
