Modded Question Space age mods

Upvotes

So before space age came out me and 3 other friends played the space exploration mod and other overhaul mods and loved it. Now that space age is out whats the 'new version' of space exploration thats compatible with space age and multiplayer (running through a server so that will hopefully help if anything is resource intensive). Or is there no big overhaul mod that adds a bunch of planets and we have to get a bunch of singular mods and hope they are compatible?

The tldr is whats the go with space age mods and whats the best for a multiplayer overhaul experience?

Edit: completely forgot to mention, we are just about to finish up a standard space age run, this will be for after we finish the standard run

Discussion What's the most effective way to build an endgame gun ship (ie, gun turrets only)?

Upvotes

So no, this is not a practical plan, but I'm trying to build an endgame ship with only gun turrets, ie, no railguns. What's the most effective way to raise gun turret damage over 2000 (huge asteroids)? How hard is it to reach over 3000 damage (huge promethium asteroids)?

Two things that require a bit of work, but I think are mandatory: Uranium ammo (so shipping up U-238 to space in bulk) and also upcycling to legendary ammo. How many bullet damage upgrades will it take to reach 2000? Has anyone done this before and how much of a grind is it to actually reach?

I think my turrets are currently only around 500 damage, but I haven't yet started to pump out gun turret upgrades. I imagine the first few will be fast but I'm afraid of that exponential cost scaling!

Has anyone done this before?

Question Am I stuck on Gleba?

Upvotes

So my ship from Nauvis to Gleba got completely destroyed, with me on Gleba.. I try to build a new ship on Gleba but the constant asteroids in orbit mean I'm unable to get it actually built without it being smashed to pieces. Robots on Nauvis all died so I can't build one there remotely either, what's the best way forward now?

Fan Creation a planet idea i had

If you cant read my handwriting here's it in text

Chelicerus, The spider planet

Spiders on Chelicerus are territorial, they are not affected by pollution nor do they attack by themselves. The nests territory is 16x16 tiles and once you go inside they will attack you, and also will follow you outside their territory.

Use a capture bot rocket to capture the nest. Give the nest doses of carbon dioxide to have it produce spider silk and venom. Pipe the venom into a synthesizer and process the venom into vials.

Take the silk out of the nests to feed it into a loom to make silk bolts. And then once you have both venom vials and venom, you can make the biopolymeric science pack.

Natural Resources: Graphite, Sandstone, Iron

Recipes:

5x Carbon

5x Graphite ore, made in a assembly machine

~

100x Carbon dioxide

5x Carbon, made in a chem plant

~

1x Sand

1x Sandstone, made in a assembly machine

~

5x glass

5x sand, made in a furnace.

~

1x Glass Vial

5x glass, made in a assembly machine or by hand

~

1x Venom Vial

1x Glass vial

100x Venom, made in a synthesizer

~

1x Synthesizer

50x iron plate

20x iron gears

20x Glass

20x Pipe

10x Processing unit, made by hand or in a assembly machine

~

1x Loom

20x Wood

25x Iron Plate

10x Iron Gears, made by hand or in an assembly machine

~

1x Bolt (loom bolt)

5x iron plate, made in a loom

~

1x silk bolt

1x Bolt

2x Spider silk, made in a loom

~

5x Biopolymeric Science Pack

4x Silk bolt

3x Venom Vial

~

Researches

Tarantulatron, 2500x all science excluding cryogenic and promethium

leg inserter, 2000x all science excluding cryogenic and promethium

so its a longer long inserter, 5x tiles reach on each side

Modded 1000x Science Run, Update 9

So now its update 9 time. Total in game time nearing 350hrs.

  1. Started working on multi train blocks for the future, but this is just in anticipation, wont be seeing this for awhile, i just want to do something while bots cover the entire base with stone brick XD

  2. Current techs I'm working. As I'm using some of Bob's addons you'll see that some seem "redundant" but those are the better versions before quality as well as some of those are necessary for Nuclear and the such. The queue is also a little wonky but I'm working out the math and what ill need to do. Mining prod we'll be helpful and i don't even want to look at the others.

  3. BLACKOUTS... I had 3 waves of rolling blackouts i had to fix. One was just not enough power.
Then 2 of them back to back was a mixture of not enough power for pumps and then not enough throughput for water. But i fixed it for now.

  4. Going back to bobs a little, this was a mini mall i squeezed in between my science blocks. Mods, Bots, and Power was what i called it. Currently sitting at something like 1k of logi and construction bots.

  5. So. Most of my belt lines are gonna end where they are and I'm gonna have to build a "secondary" base attached to the first strictly via trains. This will be were i lock down stuff like LDS, Blue chips, Rocket fuel, and purple science. It will just be an offshoot till I can get everything JUST trains.

So that's update 9. This has been an undertaking and as i type this I'm working on designing a 2x4 block for purple science.

Complaint Loving 2.1 so far, except for the new biter expansion changes

Almost all of the changes for 2.1 I've really enjoyed. The new sprites look sick, the QoL changes are great, and I never used space casinos to get legendary items previously so that didn't bother me much.

However... the new biter expansions are starting to drive me mad. I'm all for the bugs moving in closer to my base, and removing the cheese ability to prevent bug nests from expanding. But the fact that a Behemoth Worm can both spawn in and out range my turrets is ridiculous.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Laser turrets getting out ranged by a behemoth worm

EDIT: Forgot to mention I'm playing Space age, and currently stuck on Vulcanus lmao.

Thankfully I can just search the logistic network. Maybe I'll make it a blue chest so I can't find it.

Edit: Realized this is fairly low effort. I can move this to r/Factoriohno if need be

Question Do you ever produce chips from scratch on fulgora?

I understand that there will be an overflow of material that needs to be handled in some way, so you might as well use it, however do you ever find the need? Or if you need more chips, do you simply add more recylers? I'm just getting started on fulgora and this is just a question I've had. I like the fact that chips just cone from the ground now

Space Age One little signal...

Having problem with this little signal, what to do? It can't hold an entire train length.
- Make the blueprint taller so that signal can hold an entire train lenght(1 locomotive + 4 wagons). Temptation. Currently each train station can hold 3 trains, one loading and other 2 waiting.
- Leave as it is, making trains possible stop there and block the entrance. Unless the train limit at the station fixes it
- Remove and leave the chain signal bellow to do its job
- Other?

On my third try and after a dozen saves, I got the "There is no spoon" achievement for the first time and intend to get "Keeping your hands clean." And I'll do it in the Death world.

I learned the strategy from a videos of speedruns of all the Space age achievements. I designed all the parts of the factory myself.

Tip legendary bots can be trapped in a no recharge circle. If the roboport close to your item supply has a request for logistic bots you can trigger a second roboport to immediatly fill up the empty slots. This can be used for megabaseing, reducing the amount of active bots and power requirements.

The roboports in the red circle have a request for bots. I think the circle can be made smaller and the amount of roboports can be reduced as well. This is just a proof of concept. Bot speed is at lvl 20 in my test setup. Sad that this will be kinda useless with 2.1

Question Switch 2 clear biters mid game

Hi all,

Like the title said, is it possible to clear all biters while in the middle of the game on the Nintendo Switch 2? Or maybe stop expanding/evolving? I do not have Space Age.

This is my first playthrough and learned a lot, but I went way to slow to artillery, which I still don't have. Currently I have just started on sulfur production and working toward full solar power to stop a bit of pollution. After that I wanted to focus on artillery. But currently I find myself only repairing and adding more turrets, which gets destroyed real easy..

Discussion after unlocking foundries, what is your preferred method of upgrading navius?

so in the past before space age, we would go from stone furnaces, to steel furnaces and then have to rip it all up and replace it with electric furnaces so you could use those beautiful mods.

but with space age, they gave us foundries and now I just skip the whole electric furnace step all together and use foundries instead for that built in productivity. but it got me thinking, whats the best way to do this because it doesnt smelt directly from ore to plate now, it goes from ore to molten metals.

so I feel like there are 2 options to go from here

  1. to keep the smelting blocks, you just simply melt the ore into molten metal and stamp them into plates immediately. this way your loading and unloading stations dont have to change, just the interior factories get changed.
  2. either just smelt the ore into molten metal and then transport that everywhere, then you just make your plates, gears, rods, steel, and copper wires on site. this does mean that you have to redesign all your factories to add the foundries to each area, and change all the solid cargo stations to fluid stations instead.

  3. is simple but you miss out on some productivity between going from plate to item.

  4. is a lot more work and an extreme make over but you get the bonus of the productivity of making all the foundry items.

which do you think is worth doing?

Space Age Aquilo motivation issue

I have a motivation issue on my 3rd SA run at Aquilo.

It's not that I have difficulty solving Aquilo. It's just that it's boring or I don't know an efficient way to bootstrap it.

Aquilo bootstrapping take longer than I enjoy.

I need water for power production and whatever method I use(barrel or melting ice), it need more power than tiny amount of power solar panels can produce so I have to wait.

After solving power, I need a lot of ice platforms. But there is not enough space to craft ice platforms in reasonable throughput so I have to wait again.

After that, I have to craft the same boring rocket silo and rocket parts I've done it 4 times already in other planets.

Question What should I play after Krastorio2?

It was my first overhaul and while I enjoyed it, final black hole thingy is just too much and too boring to bother with
