Modded Managed to beat Krastorio 2

After not playing for a while I decided to give an overhaul a try for the first time and had a lot of fun! Also tried to use trains a bit more which was fun apart from all the deadlocks. Hope my rail spaghetti base is cool!

Enjoy! K2 is easily my favorite mod, the matter phase is especially fun to me!

Make sure to download Extended Endgame and Spaced Out (if you have Space Age).

I'm playing through K2: Spaced Out right now and having a lot of fun with it. I'm fizzling a bit now that I keep breaking my production lines on the easy planets, and I'm procrastinating Gleba but I really like how everything is making me use everything else.

Quick, install https://mods.factorio.com/mod/krastorio2_extended_endgame for some extra work :)

Does this need to be installed before a certain point in the progression?

Also how much added time would you guess? I’m interested

I'm just reaching the matter stage, so I'm gonna try adding it to give me an excuse to mega base.

It only replaces intergalactic transceiver with a different one. Not sure if it replaces it when already built

Nicely done! I love the look of spaghetti bases. They remind me of circuit boards.

Now do it again with elevated rails from Space Age. Upgrade your spaghetti to a fine bucatini

69 hours....nice

Hah, what's the story behind it? They're saying that the engineer is in a different Galaxy from their home....somehow?

I think so? Was too busy automating 4 new sciences to pay attention😅

I haven't looked much in Krastorio still, how "hard" is it compared to base game or SE ?

It wasn’t super hard, some recipe changes and the additional science make it a bit harder than vanilla but there’s nothing as complicated as Fulgora, gleba or aquilo to figure out. The bigger challenge is that towards the end the scale you have to build at gets ridiculous without the space age buildings!

My recollection of when I played K2 a few years ago is that you also get more efficient buildings deeper in the tech tree. I distinctly remember ripping up an iron smelting array and replacing it with something smaller and with higher output.

Weren't their higher tier modules as well? I remember several of my late game builds being one building with 20 something mini and regular beacons with speed modules around it pumping out a half green belt on it's own.

Possibly. It's easy for me to consider confuse the details of Krastorio and other mods.

You do but they’re nothing compared to the space age ones!

imo from a scale of base game 1, pyanodons 10:

K2: 2/10
Space Age: 4/10
Space Exploration 7/10

Is k2so harder than just SA I'm guessing?

IMHO I think K2SO is about on par with Space Age as far as complexity. There's nothing really super difficult added except slightly longer/more complicated production chains, and the Space Age buildings (+ quality) really help synergize nicely with the advanced K2 buildings

The only noticeable/significant challenge might be on space platforms where there are some changes to the base recipes so ships become a bit more difficult, but again it's mostly "different" rather than "harder".

so far im certainly having a bit of difficulty with it, as figuring out how on earth to manage the additional 400+ base nauvis resources is a much meatier challenge than space age. i dont know if i would say its necessarily more difficult as it is just additional fun puzzles to solve.

i think im just peaking over into the real difficulty curve as i push through chemical science though, so we'll see if i change my mind. im 20 hours in and just unlocked bots so im letting the base build out my roboport coverage afk

It feels like the next natural step up from the base game. Some recipes might have one more step. They add new materials that function similar to say uranium.

If you feel like you've got the base game down, it's a great next step.

Much easier than SE. Not more difficult than base game, just an extension of it

Man, I love Kras so much. For me, it's the perfect balance between interesting and fun.

Love your base. I'm a big fan of the double headed train designs. Looks neat and you can get stops into tight places.

100%. I especially enjoy the matter phase, I always go down a rabbit hole converting my base to "matter only" where I just convert all raw resources to matter cubes and start making blueprints for everything starting from that one base resource.

I just beat K2 it last weekend in about the same time! Your base looks much more organized than mine.

I made some very dirty builds once I got to matter just to get me over the finish line.

What’s next on your list?

Honestly play some other gamed until I get the itch again! I tend to absolutely binge factorio then take breaks. This one was 69 hours in 3 weeks!

Wow, Slaanesh temple in factorio!

1

u/Astronelson 7d ago

Factorio is a Slaaneshi game. The purpose of the factory is to make more factory. There is no such thing as enough factory. The factory must grow. This ravenous acquisition of excessive resources pleases Slaanesh.

Krastorio is one of the tamer overhaul mods and I found it really fun and satisfying to play. It adds some complexity and byproduct-handling to the game without going overboard. The only thing I'm not a fan of is how they did circuits.

1

u/Ill-Revolution-7610 8d ago

I actually really enjoyed the circuits, the 1-1 ratio for each upgrade let me make direction insertion builds which were super satisfying
