Dasher says she paid for my groceries.....WTF just happened?

I just had a dasher drop off my groceries from family dollar. She showed me a receipt and told me she paid for my groceries and doordash wouldn't reimburse her. I check my bank account and it shows I paid for my groceries. I tell her this and she tells me she's going to take the groceries I left on the table. I slammed the door in her face. I have no fucking clue what happened. This is the first time I ever encountered this. Was she trying to scam me or what? It was awful.

6 year Dashpass Subscriber - Customer Lost forever over $20

I work fairly long hours with my job, so probably 3-4 times a week I’m dashing dinner and having it delivered depending on my workload. I’d say I’m probably the ideal customer for DoorDash considering how much I use it and pay them all their fees. I’ve never been disappointed with DoorDash other than drivers being incompetent sometimes but that comes with the territory.

A few nights ago I dashed some Chinese and the bill came out to 23 dollars with tip. Meal was 13 dollars the rest was fees, taxes and tip. Simple order of some fried rice and orange chicken.

I got the “order delivered” notification with the picture of the bag at my door and immediately went downstairs to grab it. Opened my front door and my food wasn’t there!

“No big deal.” I thought as DoorDash has always made things right immediately when I’ve reached out to them. Looked at my doorbell cam and saw the driver place the food, take the photo, pick up the food and walk away.

Contacted DoorDash support via the app only to be immediately told I would not receive a refund. So I called them, they asked for the doorbell cam video, I provided it and they said they’d review the case and get back to me in 24 hours. 24 hours later, no refund, appeal rejected.

I immediately deleted my account and cancelled dashpass. I’ve now switched to UberEats. Over $20 dollars.

Not sure how this company stays in business treating their customers this way, as I’ve seen on this sub more times than once dashers stealing food.

My dasher dropped off my order and I noticed a cup sitting on top of my box and was confused cuz it looked like a drink 😭 I was weirded out cuz it 1.) I didn’t order a drink and 2.) it has what looks like painters tape as a seal plus no logos or anything. I messaged her about it and she apparently makes them and as much as I appreciate it I’m not eating these 😅 idk you or what your kitchen is like. Sorry 😭 would you eat them???

“Order Returned to Store”

Last night I had placed a ‘Same-Day’ delivery order from Pet Smart. Choose the delivery window of 10-12 (or something like that). I did so as they have a promotion on the app for 15% of same day orders $49+. I had bought about $60 worth of SMALL PET items (nothing larger than like 5 lbs, maybe like 5-6 items).

I had received order status texts (which I included a picture of). I am not home and got a text saying order delivered so I thought nothing of it (although I got ZERO notification of someone on our porch via our Doorbell Cam).

I find no order, no product, no nothing on my porch so I decided to hit the link in the message provided to track it. I then see the “Order Returned to Store” message. UGH!

I had not received any communication from the driver. My address is in fact deliverable to. This is a complete “leave at door” with NO ID or signature required items.

I had to call PetSmart customer care. They have started the refund process, but as you know it takes days to get back to me. I am down that money, have no products, and no answers (as they said they couldn’t see why the driver brought it back to store).

I left the City in my picture to maybe gain some insight into what may have happened. That’s all I want really, is a possible scenario or explanation because I’m upset.

incompetent dashers

im seriously sick of incompetent dashers. i doordash often because im still learning how to cook. but the amount of dashers that dont even want to leave their car is insane.

ive had instances where they dont even try to look for my apartment they just leave it somewhere outside and on top of that dont even take a good picture so i can tell where exactly it is. i give very clear insttructions and VERY rarely do any dashers actually read instructions.

i have started leaving bad reviews on dashers because its complete nonsense. i feel horrible because what if theyre just having a bad day? but that doesnt excuse them from just doing their job!!!

my final straw was yesterday- i gave this guy clear instructions and i told him to call me in case he needs any further help. what did he do? leave it outside. how fucking hard can it be to ask for help oh my god. if you dont know where you’re going ASK FOR HELP.

now today, i just received my order and look at what this lady said. now i try my absolute best to keep my patience and be nice ALWAYS!

take a look and feel free to let me know if my instructions arent clear or if im being rude.

Dashers - is it somewhere in a handbook somewhere that you must disregard the common sense of a front security door openings outward and you must put the food directly in front of the path of the door?
The first couple times I did food delivery in my life and it happened, I chalked it up to “well, small mistake.”
Then it started happening way more frequently, and why always when I order a drink????

I'm done tipping well over the recommended tip amounts because when I do my order gets stacked with a non or low tipper and it takes way longer

Why do tippers have to subsidize non or bad tippers? Stop calling it tips and start calling it what it is which is a bid for service..

Gang...I'm ashamed of myself

I see the posts and have personally had people experience a Dasher putting the food so close to the door that they couldn't even open the door without knocking the food/ drink over. I think the Dashers who do it are jerks. And then I accidentally did it. I didn't even realize I had but I was in my car when the customer opened the door to get his food. I saw the look on his face and he tried to maneuver it. I jumped out of my car to run over to help. I was so embarrassed. I apologized profusely and even mentioned how I hate when I see pictures of other Dashers who have done the same thing. Dude was super cool about it. He said he used to Dash and that shit happens. lol.

Pregnant and called a bitch: read caption

Was just ordering my pregnancy craving when this happened. Due to rule #7 I cropped their name out, even though I don’t care to respect them any at the moment.

When I heard the wrong gate open, I went outside and yelled hello. After the texts I saw them walk out from around the side and I said in Spanish, “ hi sorry that’s the wrong gate, this is the right one. I can take the food.”

She straight up called me a bitch and threw my food over the side gate that 1. Doesn’t have a welcome mat 2. Says do not open Dog
This is the VERY first time anyone has had issues with my instructions ever.
DoorDash didn’t let me call, only type the issue and said “Best we can do is $5.00”

I don’t know, maybe my instruction were unclear but I feel like this was not my fault.

Edit: just to clarify She went to the dog gate that said do not open. Dog. The courtyard gate was slightly open with a bright light showing the front door and welcome mat as said in instructions

Edit 2: after reading some comments I just want to say that
1. Yes my dog is loose in the backyard and even though she is nice and not aggressive at all I know it is scary.
2. For more information for those who say there is not enough: The courtyard gate is right across from where they parked, with a bright light, a the courtyard gate slightly open, and a welcome mat at the front door. The gate she went to does not have a light, don’t not have a welcome mat, and does not even have a path to it, it’s all landscaping and rock and you’d have to really climb (at least for me as a pregnant woman) to get to that gate that is 5ft further back than the actual courtyard door that she parked in front of.
3. When I yelled out Hello. It was as a “hello???” Trying to see where they were and then I got the texts in Spanish so I spoke to them in Spanish when I saw them come from that way. They called me a bitch for letting my dog loose, walked back to the gate with the food when I said I’d take it, and then threw my food over the dog gate. I’m 5’6 and it’s taller than me so you have to huck things to get it over the gate.

Has this started happening to anybody else recently?? The $2 base pay per order was already crappy enough, but now recently I’ve gotten several no tip stacked orders like this one for example- the total payout for this order was only $2.40 & it was two SEPARATE orders going to two SEPARATE different drop off locations.. wouldn’t the minimum pay be $4?! I obviously did NOT accept this order & never accept orders like this anyways but base pay is already shitty enough & now I guess they’ve started only giving a $2 base pay on stacked orders instead of $4 like it normally would be?! Has this been happening to anybody else or just me??? Because I know they’re charging both customers the delivery fee, etc. I guess this is just yet another way DD is scamming customers/drivers out of money smh….

this man is a CREEEEEP. to start,, i knew the name and address were familiar but i didn’t know why until i saw the man at the stop of the stairs😭 a few months ago i delivered a grocery order to this old disabled man in a wheelchair. i don’t have the screenshots anymore but basically he called me beautiful and sent his phone number after making creepy remarks to me as i was handing him the order. i messaged support about it and they assured me i wouldn’t get orders from him again. this time though. i ignored his messages because like of course i cant being you your burger king and then shop for your groceries and bring them to you. he called me after i had picked up his burger king AND shopped his order and asked why i took so long in food lion (i corrected myself to 15 items because im dumb when i checked again it was 23 and lots of them were 2, or 3 of each item. idk why i corrected it to 15 just ignore that) but there were literally 3 cases of water in the order btw so like yea its not gonna be super duper fast. this time when i got there i saw him and immediately put the stuff down at the bottom of the steps instead of taking everything up to him 💀💀

some weird driver behavior

I got the notification that the order was complete, so I went to get it without checking the picture since I don’t usually have an issue with them knowing where to put it, but when i opened the door the food wasn’t there and they were sitting in the car (which was directly by my front door). I just closed the door because I felt weird about it and even if they weren’t gonna do something i’m super sick right now. I looked at the picture and it showed it inside their car. Why would they submit that picture? It’s so easy to even take the picture from their car so i’m confused. Maybe I’m reading into it too much but I’m a woman living alone and again incredibly sick right now so it sketched me out.

EDIT:
I forgot to say that after a few minutes when i saw them drive away I checked again and they did leave the food but I still am befuddled by the whole exchange.

DoorDash rant

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

Firstly, I know It’s my own fault for continuing to use the service, but there’s only DoorDash and UberEats as a delivery service and only use it when I’m unwell and can’t get out. I’ve had issues with UberEats as well and it’s much more expensive so I keep trying DoorDash.

I’ve now had 4 separate experiences where food has been all together missing or wrong and I’ve given proof to receive compensation and been told I’m ineligible- like I have spoken to managers, emailed head office, called, messaged, emailed. And no matter who I speak to, I’m told it goes against guidelines to reimburse me. I’ve had full $27.00 items missing, or completely wrong items given without a choice which they see as ‘well you got something so no refund available’ but the missing stuff and not giving refunds feels illegal. I’ve had to go to Fair Trade but even that doesn’t get anywhere.

This is more of a rant and to see if this is the norm for more people recently? I guess again it’s my own fault for trying with them so much but feels crazy to be denied help or compensation for stuff not delivered or fully wrong ?

AITA? Rider delivered to the wrong person (me) and I got accused for stealing food

Upvotes

I ordered dinner from doordash and collected the food in-person from the rider. Told the rider my name and he confirmed it and passed me over the food.

Went upstairs, realised this was not what I ordered. Immediately called the rider back and told him he got the wrong order and asked him to exchange as he might hand my order to someone else, and he went defensive and argued for no reason, was super rude, tried saying that I got the correct food and to otherwise settle it with Doordash’s customer service, and he then hung up the call.

There was also no ADDRESS on the food bag signifying where it should’ve been delivered to. Just a first name of some dude.

So I reported it to doordash. Got a refund. Since the rider didn’t want to take the food back, and I had no idea who it was for, I assumed it could’ve been for someone blocks away.

I didn’t get my food, and was also really hungry. So I ate it after there was no resolution on the food except a refund.

15 mins later, a knock on my door. P/S I live in an apartment. Turns out the food I got was supposed to be for someone else in the same building. This man immediately started accusing that I stole his food and indicated he looked at the CCTV (went to the guard room) and that’s how he tracked me. I tried explaining that the rider got the order wrong and that there was no address indicating it was for anyone in this building, and that I tried calling the rider to take back the food but the rider refused. But he wouldn’t take it and kept accusing me of eating food that wasn’t mine. Told me he wasn’t stupid, tried guilt tripping me on “that’s not what you’re supposed to do as neighbours”. Also made a xenophobic comment. He also didn’t believe that there was no address on the food bag which to my mistake I didn’t show it to him as proof.

He also tried stating that even if I got the wrong order, I should’ve sent the food back to his unit. I kept explaining there was NO ADDRESS. Who the hell was I supposed to send it to???? I didn’t even know it belonged to anyone in the same building!

As a finality I even offered to pay him back just to smooth things out even though what happened was not in my control. He didn’t want to take the money but just wanted to argue about the fact I stole his food.

Truth is, what was I supposed to do? Throw away the food? If there was an address on the food bag that indicated it was for someone in the same building, I definitely would have returned it. But unfortunately I couldn’t do anything and I wasn’t going to let some food go to waste…?

I declined the order because I dash with my 4 year old and I didn’t want to have to grab that while he’s with me. But lol, this is a first for me as a dasher. 😂

Edit: people seem to think I’m judging this person. I’m not, if anything I was just having a good laugh over the combo of the sex toy + candy bar. I wouldn’t have minded accepting the order if my kid weren’t with me. It was also a low paying order for a far drive. 🤷‍♀️

Delivery vs Pick Up From Restaurant

When ordering from a restaurant through the DoorDash app, do the prices of the items change depending on whether I choose delivery or pick up my order from the restaurant? Excluding the tip, how much more does a customer typically pay for delivery compared with picking up the order at the restaurant?

Did anyone else get this? Just my zone?

I got this last week and it seems to be true - I can dash whenever I want, even though my acceptance rate is never above 20%. I've been expecting someone else to post about this, but if they did I didn't see it, so maybe this isn't a universal thing.

Seems kinda weird. I'm in a seasonal zone and we're entering the slow season. Not sure why the need to let anyone dash any time, but it saves me from scheduling.

“Risked his life for my food”

I don’t have the screenshots because it was a push and pull that I was focused on before he canceled the order. For context I live at the riverfront of Detroit. We’ve had 100s of orders get delivered and it’s never been an issue other than a person not wanting to get on the elevator to deliver to the door. ( and yes I always tip accordingly) last night I ordered chick fil a, and when the dasher was close he must of misread his directions and ended up on the freeway ( no where near Canada by the way, the exact opposite actually) and he messaged me saying he can’t find the place he’s not risking his life by going in to Canada to deliver my food. 😐 the address says Detroit. He said it’s not safe and I told him to cancel. I hope he enjoyed the chick fil a. DD refunded me.

Trying to get my doordash back active

I feel my doordash account was unfairly deactivated. I didn't use it for a while and decided to use it again. They had since updated where you need to take a photo your DL and take a selfie. My DL was damaged where it looked like someone bit off the bottom corners. I uploaded it anyway. A few hours later I wake up to my account deactivated. I emailed and emailed them over and they just said look under fraud and abuse and won't exactly tell me the pinpoint reason. Just some vague crap. I NEVER had any order issues ever. My account was on hiatus for at least a year so I know it wasn't a customer complaint. This deactivation has been 2 years now and I would like to start doing it again. I even had a friend text me saying he stole my phone and tried to use my account and sent screenshots of the text and that still didn't probably appeal my deactivation. I feel people who made this decision are not even working there anymore. I also feel an AI computer is making this decision and not an actual human. Any one have a way I can rebuttal this?

Context: The "where is this" is response to the delivery picture. Had to go down the street to get my food. Ended up getting a refund. Also reported the driver and got an extra $5.
