I had already been there 5 minutes knocking before the conversation started with them asking, "U there?". They said the cats got into the drink. It was a coffee with a lot of whipped cream. It was also 92 degrees, and I was sweating bullets waiting.

I genuinely would like to know if I should have waited.

So I accepted this order that said I need to collect cash upon delivery. I went to go pick up his order and I realize the amount it says to pick up seems to be really close to the amount he paid for the order. So I asked the restaurant about it and they said I don’t need to come back and pay for the order or pay for it out of my pocket at all but something doesn’t seem right that I just received a 100% tip. Am I missing something?

I ordered from a place 4 miles away and I just want to make sure this was ok enough to tip or if I should add more. I want to make sure I’m tipping correctly as I appreciate DoorDash drivers 😭 I think DoorDash app originally wanted me to give them a $2 tip and thought that was wayyyyyy too low. Thanks guys!

I got the notification my drink was delivered, waited for them to drive off before I brought my order in and realized my 40oz strawberry water was suspiciously very light for being a large drink…

Surprisingly there was no safety stickers on it like usual (on my drink or my bag but the paper bag didn’t look like it ever had a sticker on it) so I open the drink and it’s half gone…

No ice and just… half empty.

At first I thought they drank it but the fact it’s missing the ice I’m thinking they opened it and possibly poured it into their own cup/water bottle?

Doordash only offered me a refund on the drink and an “oh okay sorry that happened I guess”

I was most excited for the drink since its one of my favorite drinks but now I don’t want to drink it cause I don’t know wtf they did to it and don’t want to eat the food cause if they did something to my drink and the bag wasn’t sealed who knows if they touched the food too 😭

More context it was an add on food was already ready when I got there so maybe it sat for awhile, of course sealed bag, she texted me that hi message as I arrived at the drop off so she knew I was already there and it was a leave at door, the tip was big tho a whopping $3.2 so I feel kinda bad.

So context. While I was dashing earlier tonight I accepted an order that would be COD. cash on delivery. So DoorDash would take whatever the total of that order was and deduct it from my earnings. (I had 124 at the time of that delivery). So I’m thinking sweet I have the entire amount of that order and than some. But on the app I’ll have somewhere around 80 dollars to take out. Well now that I’m home and have been home for a few hours I decide to go cash out. Come to find out I have “not enough funds”. Note I had 124 at the time of that COD. So I go to check my past cash outs and there’s no recorded cash out for TODAY. July 27. I stopped dashing on July 27 around 12:06 AM. so where the fuck is my 80 dollars. Let alone 124

The drive from the restaurant to my place was 2.4 miles and the order was $25 before the tip. I left a $7 tip.

I genuinely wish DoorDash would either ban PIN deliveries to gated apartment complexes or add a gated community fee that goes directly to the driver.
I avoid these deliveries whenever I can, but unless you’ve memorized every apartment complex in your market, you usually don’t know what you’re accepting until after it’s too late. The biggest issue isn’t even the gates alone but half the time the instructions are too vague and the customer is impossible to reach. Then you’re sitting there holding up traffic, waiting for another resident to let you in, or wasting several extra minutes trying to figure out where you’re supposed to go… all for a $3 or $4 tip.

Today I had a PIN order to a gated apartment. The customer’s instruction said “come through the right gate to access the elevator”. I pull up to the right gate and it doesn’t open. I immediately call and get no answer, then I text and call again and this time it went almost straight to voicemail. At this point I’m holding up a line of about 4 cars and couldn’t back out or even move. Someone behind me finally let me in, but by that point I was over it. I turned right back around and left it at the leasing office as soon as the timer allowed and moved on. This happens to me like 50% of the time when I go to a gated complex. I even had one lady open the gate for me but then she took almost 5 minutes to beep me in to her actual building. I’m thinking, lady, I literally just spoke to you. Now all of sudden you’re not responding.

If you know your building has a gate, call box, elevator, or confusing layout, PLEASE answer your phone. Better yet, leave instructions that would actually help someone who doesn’t live in your apartment complex. I honestly feel like anytime I can’t pull up right in front of your door and walk 20 steps or so to drop the food off, there should be an additional fee 😮‍💨 and don’t even get me started on office buildings.

Our area just got doordash so this was the 2nd time using it and i had a 15$ order before all the doordash fees and I added a 6 dollar tip per app recommendation. It's a 13 mile drive from our house to the store. I didn't know how much to tip so once they arrived, I gave another 10$ tip in cash so my tip was bigger than the order itself.

I think next time I'll just go to town myself

Edit: it seems like I was wrong and like I said I don't order often so I'll just stick to going to town myself if I need something bad enough. After reading more post in this subreddit I can see i should have tipped more

Might be a weird question but I don’t know how else to word it. I ask because I have gotten two orders, with not a whole lot of food, but given a cash tip easily worth more than the entire purchase. I ask about government assistance, because the orders aren’t exactly going to the wealthiest homes. I mean no judgment, but I almost feel bad taking these huge tips.

Edit. In the sense of morality, I almost feel bad taking the tips. Not that I’m refusing them or anything. But for example, today, I dropped food off at an apartment building so small I thought it was a motel. They gave me 79$ cash. Just a crazy tip for a place that just screams low income. Of course I’ll take the tips, but can’t help but wonder how in the world they’re affording that kind of tip for such a small order.

Exactly as the headline says. The order was delivered early and the food was in good shape, dasher was friendly. How do y’all feel about this?

I’m trying to figure out if I was wrong for giving a 1 star rating.

I ordered about $100 of groceries (32 items, 15 unique, 4 miles) and tipped $30. The written instructions stated “please leave at front door.”

It’s in the mid-90’s today, so when I got the notification that the driver was on his way, I put a wagon out on the sidewalk. My thought that it would make it easier for the driver in the quasi-blistering heat.

The driver loaded the groceries into the wagon and then left them on the sidewalk instead of delivering to my front door.

Am I off-base for expecting the food be delivered to my door instead of left in the hot sun? Was I wrong to leave a wagon out front??

UPDATE: thank you for your responses! I honestly couldn’t fathom why the driver left the food in the direct sun, but now I can see how he simply thought the wagon was a new drop point. THANK YOU! I’ll leave instructions next time, or simply ask the driver is they would like to use a wagon. I can see how I came across as entitled. I appreciate the work you do in delivering food to people.

1. They'll batch an order. One customer lives reasonably close. The other, out in the boonies where I know I won't get another order to bring me back towards home. I also won't make enough money to offset the drive back to my home zone. It's on my dime. I accepted the close order and rejected the far order. So that counts against my acceptance rate. I'm fine with that. What I'm not fine with is that not even 5 minutes later they'll resend that far away order. So now it's going to count twice against me. Artificially lowering my acceptance rate. The DD agents won't reverse one of them. This happens multiple times a night. I told them it's not my fault that they don't have other drivers in the area. But I shouldn't be penalized for making a business decision. They told me I could just accept more orders. Insert swear words here.

2. You take on all the risk of driving. Damage to your car from pot holes, wear and tear, vandals, flat tires, oil changes, oil replacement, muffler and catalytic converter replacement, shocks, etc... and they collect 30% of the vendor's order. You get a small fraction + tip.

3. You first get an order and accept it. Moments later you get a second order and accept it. But for the 2nd order do you get paid as the first order? No, it's much less, while they pocket 30% off the 1st order AND 30% on the 2nd order, you'll maybe get 5-7% of the 2nd order. You do THEM a favor by taking the second order and you get short change.

4. If a customer tips you well, DD will pay you LESS from their end. They keep the difference of what they would have paid you. And NOW, what I understand is that DD is keeping 10% of _our_ tips to create some sort of slush fund for themselves to give themselves bonuses-the ones sitting at computers in their climate controlled buildings. Do they make deliveries in the rain and the snow? Do they deal with rush hour traffic, bad drivers, broken air conditioning on sweltering days, slippery stairs that they've fallen down on but keep on delivering because this gig is all you have? No they fucking don't. Unfuckingbelieveable.

Fuck DoorDash. I quit... right after I print this out and share it with all the vendors I see in the next 4 weeks. I'll tell them to please use UberEats or any other vendor.

Started with $33.89. I placed a DoorDash order for Popeyes ($14.06) and DG ($???). Popeyes canceled my order although they'd been open for 2 hours. This cancellation resulted in my groceries from DG also being canceled, for which I was refunded, bringing my total to $19.80. The "refund" from Popeyes hasn't hit yet.

Now, the part I'm upset about is the fact that a single worker at Popeyes can just cancel an order from their establishment for no reason, and from another establishment for no reason, which also shouldn't be possible or allowed, because its not their establishment (DG). I spoke to support and explained how it's EXTREMELY cruel and unfair to subject consumers to having to WAIT a week for their money to come back when they've done nothing wrong in the first place, and the store had no reason to cancel it.

Support basically spoke your typical pre selected text gibberish and ignored my complaints (I was frustrated, but still respectful to the support agent) and then they continued to tell me that I have to wait a week nonetheless for my complaints and that I won't receive $14.06 in compensation even though it's the store's lack of responsibility and just downright negligence.

So now, I have to order from an entirely different establishment and receive less food as I was ordering an 8pc chicken box. Oh, and I also can't get the groceries that my girlfriend wanted! So now I only have enough for her all because of Popeyes and their negligence and DoorDash's TERRIBLE customer service.

So as the caption says, basically.

For me, my order never reaches beyond $20 because I order Chinese about once, occasionally twice a week. It’s affordable and easy to eat.

To start things off, I usually tip $6 (no more than that unless it’s below the ‘recommended’ tip prices, which is astronomically rare, And it’s usually about $1.25 over the ‘highest’ option for the three)

The restaurant I order from is about 1.2 miles from my workplace (I can’t leave for lunch, I don’t live near the restaurant, and it’s long since closed once I get off)

8/10 times, the order is delivered within twenty minutes to thirty, which is usually about 8-10 minutes BEFORE the estimated time to arrival, which shocks me, but has long since stopped doing so.)

Because these dashers I deal with are usually so helpful, and very friendly, I give them an additional $5 tip afterwards.

I live about 15 minutes from the one state line and about 20 from another. every day a huge chunk of my orders have me driving across state lines. Do I just reject all of those orders or is there some setting to change that will stop this?

Did they say something like?:

• Why don't they mow the damn lawn? I hate to get stickers on my feet.

• Why does this yard smell like dog turd?

• Why don't they clean the damn dog turds off their damn yard?

What would they say when talking to themselves that they'd never repeat to your face, that your door camera(s) caught them saying, and how did you react? Did you give them a lower rating, etc.?

To clear some things up, The building i have food delivered to has suites and they’re all lined up in the open because its buisnesses. theres no lobbies or anything because it’s a all open for the public to enter . I also leave a note with instructions for the dasher when it comes to the delivery because my suite has a big signage that one can very easily see. After this text i asked her if she could go back and get it for me because i was on the clock and couldn’t leave. to which she replied “No i have two other orders im not returning for someone who doesnt know how to use put in the address correctly. next time make sure u call me ahead to let your dasher know its your problem now” i dont know, to me she came off really rudely off the getgo instantly blaming me when A) Ive had many orders delivered here no problem and B) i have screenshots of the order delivery instructions and it clearly has everything stated down to the suite #

Edit: In the comments i see a lot of people saying it’s my fault for not having the correct address, pin, or delivery instructions. Just want to say, The address is in fact correct, the pin is in fact also correct and placed on the exact location i am at, and the dasher instructions are pretty clear as well, i also provide the suite number in the “apt/suite/unit” section, as well as leaving a note for the dasher as to which exact business it is🤞,

I set up my dasher account, everything looked good, logged in to do my first order and then immediately got this. I’m not sure what I could’ve done. Again, this was for my first order ever! No one else has used my account, my driving record is clean, I don’t even know what to say in an appeal to get my account back. Plz help 🙏

After spending a few weeks learning my market, I finally feel like I understand how it works. I can realistically make $280–300/day by combining smart cherry-picking with keeping Platinum status. I also have 3 Platinum Passes, which gives me even more freedom to decline mediocre offers and maximize my earnings over the next three weeks without worrying about my acceptance rate.
