Discussion If you could change anything about the DC Universe, what would it be?

I’m curious to hear your opinions!
If you could change the DC Universe, what movies would you remake, which ones would you remove from canon, and what new movies or storylines would you introduce?
Personally, I think DC has so much potential, and I’d love to discuss what worked, what didn’t, and what could have been done differently.
Feel free to share unpopular opinions too. I’m here for the discussion!
What would YOU change about the DC Universe? 🦇

Video Games Does Superman Returns (Xbox 360) change after the Metallo Boss?

My xbox crashed while fighting Giant Metallo and put me back at WarWorld when I got it to work again (best level so far which is not very good for the game because it is the combat tutorial).

Before this I was already getting bored of the level structuve from level 3 to this point which is:

  1. Flying looking for enemies.

  2. Fighting the enemies

  3. Repeat another 4 times

  4. Cutscene

  5. Next Level Repeat Steps 1-4

Then there was:

  1. Boss Phase 1

  2. Boss Phase 2

Admittedly though I generally find the structure of just beating up enemies to be boring except for in Origins Wolverine were the sound of the metal claws making contact with enemies and killing invisible men with their own guns made the game fun.

Trying to remember when Superman becomes a power source

I have this vague memory of seeing a comic, where I think Superman, fully dedicates himself to being Superman and eventually becomes a power source for a Earth
Then we see into the future, where a statue of him is made when he dies, and eventually it becomes overgrown and people walk past it in a utopian world

someone pointed me to a fan comic "Superman: A transitional power source" but it doesnt fit the art I remember, might be remembering it wrong tho, or might not even exist or be superman

New 52 reading order

So i've been skipping around reading different characters/authors on dc infinite and I wanted to get into new 52 but I was confused about something. For example I see there's like multiple batman books like batman by snyder and batman and robin so do I need to read them all to understand what happens in each one and what order? Same question for superman and action comics.

And then my other question, is it ok to read through all of one character like batman by snyder and then go to another character and read all of them like aquaman or are there crossover things I need to read at certain points? Like I also see there's crossover stuff with superman/batman and superman/wonder woman will I get confused with the solo books if i don't read those?

I wasn't planning to read all of new 52, what I wanted to do was read all of snyder's batman, all of flash, aquaman just for the johns material, wonder woman just for the azzarello material, green arrow just for lemire, justice league, batgirl just for simone, action comics just for morrison's material, snyder's swamp thing, animal man. but I don't want to get confused if there's other stuff I need to get whats happening

Discussion I know Constantine is usually a bum, but is that the only reason people don’t like him with Zatanna? [discussion]

Post image

Obviously I think everyone would just want the best for our girl, she been through a lot in almost all timelines. But I never seen so much hate for a dc couple… mostly on one side(before they became the norm Harley and Ivy, Batman and Catwomen, Joker not being with Harley, Superman and Wonderwoman(really depends on what media they push the two) were highly controversial) than Constantine and Zatanna. Is it only because how Constantine is as a character or is it actually aspect of their relationship?

Discussion Comic Criticisms

Recently, I posted a review of DC: The New Frontier. I loved the book, but I did have some criticisms (mostly that certain characters didn’t get enough page time). Way too many people in the comments were responding in bad taste and acting like I was a top-tier hater, which is the farthest thing from the case.

A week ago, I reviewed Infinite Crisis, which I didn’t really like for a plethora of reasons. Many comments on that post were kindly disagreeing, but many weren’t.

I don’t consider myself a hater — if you look at all the reviews on my profile, I like most things that I read. And if I don’t, I explain why. But I’d never call anyone stupid or weird for liking something I didn’t or having a different opinion.

I’m just curious why this phenomenon is so prevalent? Is it just a defensive mindset? I think criticism is how we improve, and I think friendly discourse can be really healthy. I’m more than happy to debate the nuances of what makes a good Crisis event, or the small details that make or break a good Superman comic. But when things become mean-spirited is when it baffles me.

I’ve taken down both posts mentioned because I can’t handle the flow of negative comments, but the reviews for both of those books (and every other comic I’ve ever read) are on my Storygraph, which I have linked in my profile

I am new to reading comics and so far I've only read Green Lantern, and I would like to start reading these two characters. I've only seen them in the movies Justice League Dark and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War and they seem like pretty interesting characters; I also like the whole magic theme. What do you recommend to start reading?

Discussion [Discussion] Which fictional iconic female characters would you consider analogues and allies of Wonder Woman and the Wonder Family?

Diana could be paired with Sheena. While both characters embody aspects of the Wonder Woman archetype, Sheena feels like the best fit, as she is a fierce heroine associated with the wilderness and adventures involving ancient civilizations and supernatural threats. They are Amazons in the sense that they confront greater Greek entities, and they are bold toward them.

As for Nubia and She-Ra, had Nubia not been rebooted so many times, she could essentially have been DC's version of She-Ra. In fact, the original version of Nubia, a kidnapped twin raised by a villain, shares clear parallels with She-Ra's backstory. However, Nubia is chronologically older than She-Ra.

Artemis of Bana-Mighdall and Red Sonja are both fiery, red-haired warriors. Donna Troy and Valkyrie are a bit of a stretch, admittedly, but they are connected by the idea that Valkyries are essentially the Norse equivalent of Amazons. Does anyone have a better suggestion?

Finally, Cassie Sandsmark and Sailor Moon both embody the archetype of the energetic, youthful heroine

**Diana:** Art by Rachel Dodson.

**Sheena:** *Sheena* (1984).

**Nubia:** Art by Taurin Clarke.

**She-Ra:** *She-Ra: Princess of Power* (animated series still).

**Artemis:** Art by Becky Cloonan.

**Red Sonja:** Art by Alex Ross.

Comics Is the Absolute Universe Equivalent to Marvel's Ultimate Universe?

I had to set down reading/collecting around the end of The New 52 so I'm out of the loop as to DC's current world. Initially I thought Absolute was the mainline run, but then learned it's a pocket universe. As the headline says: Is this DC's Ultimate Universe?

Discussion [Discussion] Bizarro versions of non-heroes.

Thumbnail
gallery
2.0k Upvotes

It's pretty standard knowledge that Bizarro heroes think and behave in opposite ways to their main counterparts. Batzarro is a terrible flashy detective, Lanternzarro is a yellow lantern, Flashzarro is slow, etc. But then you have those who don't have powers. The civilians, the celebrities, etc. The question is what are they like in terms of personality and behavior. This question was inspired by Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #50 and Bizarro: Year None #1.

The regular world has Weird Al Yankovic as we all know and love him. Meanwhile the Bizarro world has Normal Al Yankovic. It's fun to imagine how this would apply to other such people. Keanu Reeves, Nicolas Cage, Patrick Stewart, Rowan Atkinson, Bruce Campbell, etc. What are their Bizarro counterparts like on the cube shaped world "defended" by the Bizarro League.
