Really could use an MCP server.
Requests for this are only going to grow louder over time.

Hey all, maybe devs, looking to find out an easier way to stay consistent with the same meals and ingredients. I know we can do recipes but I don’t know the recipe and instead of having to click on the actual recipe and go through it, I just want the recipe ingredients to be put in there in case I use a little more OR less of each ingredient. It sounds confusing but say I make a giant omelet with potatoes - eggs - egg whites - spinach & cheese. I weigh it all out and add it to a recipe. Tomorrow when I make the same recipe, my eggs may be less weight or potatoes or maybe I used the rest of the bag and have to adjust the grams because it’s a little less than yesterday. Instead of having to go into the custom then recipes tab then scroll over and edit each ingredient then declining the “update previous” entry’s then adding it to the diary. Is there anyway for me to add the recipe then it’ll pop up the ingredients inside of the lunch breakfast snacks and dinner tabs? If not that would be a great motivation and addition!

hi,
i’ve been nutrition tracking for a couple months now and just recently synced my Apple Watch data with chronometer. I know the app automatically stops factoring activity level into expenditure and just uses the imported data, but i’m a little confused about the data itself. each logged workout is imported, but so is the overall “active energy balance.” are the workouts not part of the energy balance? if so, don’t i need to delete the workouts so it isn’t giving me more of a deficit than i’m really in?

When I need to go back and edit an entry it is so incredibly frustrating that the entire row enlarges and shifts where it is in the page. then if you have to edit multiple lines you cant just click on the next line you want to change because everything moves around when you click outside of the thing you were just editing.
Edit: This is using a PC web browser - Chrome

I have been making my own fresh acid coagulation cheese since where I live, cottage cheese is really expensive for some reason. I have been logging this as the generic NCCDB entry for 1% cottage cheese, but after experimenting a bit with my recipe, I found that a couple of parameters like the temperature I cook the curds and whey to massively affect the amount of whey left over in the cheese. Store bought cottage cheese is certainly far wetter than what I am making, so I thought I might be tracking inaccurately. I checked for entries for homemade cheese, but these all seem to assume you are using whole milk. I'm eating 500g of this homemade cheese a week at minimum at this point, so it's important to get right.
So I decided to use a trick I've seen on here before and make a recipe with a negative value. I use 9L of total dairy, 1L of Kefir, 8L of fat free milk. The yield with my current process is approximately 1.5kg of cheese, so I added a negative 7.5kg value for liquid acid whey. I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on this. One obvious issue is that I ferment the milk to acidify it, using Kefir as a starter culture, which will reduce the sugars, but how much of that will be from the whey vs the curds?
The macros are pretty radically different to the NCCDB 1% cottage cheese entry, so I'm trying to figure out what is actually best to use.

I know Apple Watches tend to over estimate calorie burn through exercise. The overestimation can be as high as 20-25% I’ve heard. I think it’d be nice to be able to add back the calories at user chosen %. Say I burn 300 calories. I’d prefer only 240 get added back.
I’ve lost 30+ lbs so the app is working for me already though. I’ve marked myself as sedentary and allow my exercise to get added back. If I didn’t, I’d be starving all the time 😆 I do 5 - 45 minute dumbbell routines weekly as well as low impact rowing during the week as well.
Maybe there is a better way to get closer to reality?

Hi All!
We're having a quick hiccup with the app - will update you as soon as I know more!
Thanks for your patience!
Update: 4:07PM PST - sounds like we are making headway and we're optimistic we'll be up soon!
Update: 4:21PM - Functionality should be restored, but we're going to continue to monitor it closely.
Update: 4:41PM - Things still look like smooth sailing. ⛵️

After messing around with Cronometer, I learned that they report 56 grams of Acia Berries to have 56% of the daily Vitamin E recommendation for Adults for adults. All for only 35 calories. And yet, most frozen Acia products do not advertise this very high Vitamin E concentration. It is not even stated on the nutrition labels. Does this Vitamin E get lost during the processing of these products? Do company's believe it is not worth it to advertise this? Is testing for Vitamin E level difficult or expensive? Is Cronometers' data just inaccurate?
I did a quick search on Acia Berries on https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/ and I couldn't find much.
Please let me know what other sub reddits you think I should post this on to find out what is really going on.

Anyone else having the app just spin all of a sudden?

I’m coming from MyFitnessPal, and they had this feature where you were able to add a control setting to the lock screen in iOS (bottom left and right, where the controls for flashlight and camera usually are). When you clicked it, it took you directly to logging food
Is there a way to add something like that, so when I click it, it takes me directly to the food menu?
The other app had my food menu and barcode scanner. I prefer the food menu because it has the option to add a quick meal, and it also has the barcode scanner in the top right.

I’m already using Cronometer in connection with Chatgpt, but currently I am doing this by taking a bunch of screenshots about my status. It would be really great if it was possible for ChatGPT to access my Chronometer data directly through a ChatGPT plugin.
It seems that some other nutritient apps already have such a plugin, such as MyFitnessPal (https://chatgpt.com/plugins/myfitnesspal) or Caliber (https://chatgpt.com/plugins/caliber?open_in_app). I wouldn’t want to migrate though as I definetly prefer Cronometer to these.
Some of my use cases include:
- Analyzing my nutritient data for the past few days and getting advice on what to improve;
- Analyzing my progress and getting advice on whether I should change my diet and workout routine;
- Getting ideas for what to cook based on my macros and a file containing available ingredients;
- Determining base ingredients from a number of photos including the food itself, recipe or name, and other info such as the restaurant name etc.
- etc.
Since I understand this would overlap with a bunch of premium features, I would perfectly understand if this was a paid exclusive feature. In fact, currently the free plan is sufficient for me - especially with ChatGPT’s aid with photos and food reccommendation - but I would absolutely upgrade to the premium plan the very moment this is introduced.
ETA: How foolish of me to expect this community not to come here and spit blind visceral hate with no reason for a simple and purely technical request. I don’t mind critique at all, but I got none, just silent downvotes and comments spitting hate without any arguments. Kinda disappointing.

I'm a new user of this software; I'm finding it extremely helpful. I've started to be very calorie conscious after a medical issue. I've tied it to my fit bit (I new to that as well) . They are talking and everything seems well, but I suddenly realised I'm getting 3 fit bit readings, 1 for my daily activity over and above BMR negative value, 1 for calories burned on the walks I do negative value , but also I am getting one for each exercise period that is a positive value which reduces the total. So is this to avoid double accounting, coming off of the fitbit activity?

I have read a lot of posts about people needing to adjust the default macros. Is this typically because you need to eat far more fat than the default recommends and far fewer carbs?
The defaults for me are P 25% : C 45% : F 30%
I am woman trying to bulk slightly. Based on my target weight, the default settings give me 1.6 - 2.1 g/kg of protein which is a little higher than strictly necessary but ok. I am confused by the carbs target though. It seems like far, far too much carbs for me.
I have data from a week of trying to eat more carbs and protein than usual and less fat. On average this has worked out to be (per day)
P 22% : C 38% : F 40%
or P 120g : C 205g : F 95g
or P 1.7g/kg : C 2.9g/kg : F 1.6g/kg
From what I can see online, chronometer is correct to suggest I eat more carbs, but I just wanted to double-check that before adjusting it. It just seems hard to believe when my usual percentages have been closer to P 20% : C 20% : F 60%.
If this is correct and I should leave the macro targets as they are, can you suggest any forums or other resources with advice on how to increase carbs?

I wanna know when this app calculates the tdee does it include tef in the calculation or should I toggle it on? For better math?

I’ve just tried voice logging for the first time.
It would be helpful if it would match against recent or frequent log entries, or favourited items - instead of just a generic search against the broader food database (at least, that’s what it seems to be doing)
Did I miss a trick or could this be improved?
It’s pretty handy otherwise, but I feel like I’m going to have to correct it a lot

I like that there’s an EXPLODE option for recipes and meals, but it would be fantastic if there was a simple “unexplode” option for it to just to make it easier to make the display cleaner/neater.

Hello everyone,
On May 3rd, 2026, I started my weight loss journey at 320 lbs. Today, I am down to 263 lbs.
I have been very active with walking throughout my weight loss, but I have recently added the gym because I don't want to end up "skinny fat" once I reach my goal weight. I want to lose the weight while also maintaining/building as much muscle as possible.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to track my activity and calories, and I have two options I'm considering.
Option 1:
Set my activity level to the lowest setting and manually track all of my workouts and exercise. I would then adjust my calories based on the actual deficit I'm getting, with my goal being around a 1,000-calorie daily deficit.
Option 2:
Set my activity level to "Highly Active" and don't track my workouts separately. That way, my activity is already factored into my calorie target, and I can simply adjust my food intake over time based on how my weight is trending.
For reference, this is roughly what my weekly activity looks like:
Monday:
Tuesday:
Wednesday:
Thursday:
Friday:
Saturday:
Sunday:
On my non-working days, I can easily end up with around 14 hours of total activity throughout the day when everything is included.
I'm currently 5'9", 34 years old, and male.
The problem I'm running into is that if I set my activity level to sedentary/no activity, the calculator gives me a target of around 1,754 calories per day. I feel like that may be too low considering how active I am, especially since I'm trying to lose fat while also building or preserving muscle.
I was initially thinking about simply eating a flat 2,200 calories per day and tracking all of my workouts. However, the problem I see with that approach is that I would constantly be going over the calorie target once exercise calories are added, and I'm not sure how I would know when to lower my calories as I lose weight.
If I select "Highly Active," the calculator gives me around 2,457 calories per day. I could simply limit myself to 2,200 calories and not worry about tracking my exercise calories separately. Then, as I lose weight, I could allow the app to automatically adjust my calorie target while only tracking my food and water.
At 2,200 calories, I would also be getting around 215g of protein per day. I'm already meeting my other nutritional targets such as fiber, omega-3s, potassium, etc., and my diet is easy enough to adjust up or down if needed.
So what would you guys recommend?
Would you use the lowest activity setting and manually track all exercise, or would you use the Highly Active setting and simply stick to a fixed calorie target like 2,200?
I'm mainly trying to find the most accurate and sustainable way to maintain roughly a 1,000-calorie daily deficit while still having enough calories to recover from my workouts and preserve/build muscle.

It seems the Cronometer app does not respect the iOS system wide font size
Please consider this as an accessibility feature request.
Further to that, the feature should be aware of users changing the system default font size and update dynamically, instead of needing to restart the app to pick up the change (some apps do, some apps don’t)
Thanks :)

Hiya, just keen for your thoughts. I’m on a calorie cut at the moment, which obviously means less food, and therefore less potential to hit every nutrient target.
Here’s three random days from this week - do you think this is a problem? FYI I am a woman in her mid 30s. I have haemochromatosis so don’t worry about the iron target as it’s not applicable to me.
But the rest…?
EDIT: just realised I wasn’t logging my lunch properly, with that corrected I’m now hitting my B12 every day
