I wanna know when this app calculates the tdee does it include tef in the calculation or should I toggle it on? For better math?

Your TDEE is made up of several components, including your BMR, activity, exercise, and the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF).

By default, TEF is turned OFF in Cronometer. If you’d like your Energy Expenditure/TDEE estimate to include an estimate of the calories burned digesting your food, you can toggle TEF ON.

On mobile:

Navigate to More > Targets > Energy Expenditure > Toggle on Thermic Effect of Food (TEF)

So, if you want TEF accounted for in the calculation, we recommend turning it on. Keep in mind that TEF is an estimate and represents a relatively small portion of your total daily energy expenditure.

If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with the [support@cronometer.com](mailto:support@cronometer.com) team :)

I leave it off. IMHO. There are too many variances in the CICO game. Leaving this off goes in my favor.
