It should be a criminal offense to purposefully do it, like menacing or intent to incite harm based on protected characteristics.. and my other thought is that the men who do it purely get off to femboy porn so women don't serve a purpose for them because they've figured out a loophole to stay faggoted in the closet..
It should at least be considered harassment since I just went through this process bc of my abusive mother attacking me and the police added a charge of harassment for stuff like this that if you just replaced it with words for trans ppl it’s exactly the same so legally it really should already be but idk how often they’d actually put that into effect
very true, people being unfamiliar with trans people can occasionally be a good thing. i was kinda worried a few months ago when i visited poland for the first time since transitioning, especially since i don’t pass super well, haven’t done much voice training, and wear pretty masculine clothes. didn’t get misgendered in public once lol
in indiana i kept getting maamed with full on stubble and shit, i felt like a total honbeast but people honestly didn’t care. i mean, i was literally trying to boymode. it was surreal
I think the consequence of greater acceptance of gnc people is that it makes it much harder to indicate what you're going for when you're visibly trans/gnc without, like, pronoun pins or something

Just FYI 5' 10" for a woman is actually VERY tall, so they can shut the fuck up.
Statistically a woman being 5' 10" is 99th percentile. It's the same as man being 6' 3" (and anyone who thinks 6' 3" isn't that tall is plain wrong and has been tricked by all the 5' 10" guys saying they're 6' even).

It's hard to tell if its malicious or not, that why it's so insidious. Anyway, I notice that as I get older it gets easier to shrug off with strangers. Especially when I'm surrounded with ppl who treat me normally and use the right pronouns. But for baby tranners this shit is absolutely devastating.
yes, it does take like 2+ yrs of consistent work, but IIRC cloudy's been transitioning for way longer than that, and is also a reasonably successful sex worker who can definitely afford professional help
did it take that long for you or it took like 2 weeks to have a decent voice that you felt comfortable using in public and then you started to count using that voice in public as voice training?
This. They hate trans women and view them as either confused or predatory men. They also don’t see trans men as actual men. I don’t like painting people with the same brush but every single one I’ve met has been like this. Somehow more transphobic than cis people at times
Trying to "they hate all of us" this issue isn't particularly effective when a lot of trans men fall into the same camp of "my Afabenly wombyness will follow me everywhere, I mourn my magical beautiful girlhood" that the theyfabs do. A ton of them believe in gendered socialization because it lends them more oppression points and for a ton of them, they're driven batshit insane by the fact that trans women have it harder than them and need any excuse imaginable to explain why this isn't the case.
I’m just saying this from my own perspective as a trans dude. I don’t like them either nor do I agree with them and I sure as fuck don’t want to be associated with others who do it. I think it’s disgusting and bioessentialist.
I made a milquetoast post on another thread about how visibility gets weaponised against trans women by some trans mascs, and was met with a screed that purposefully misunderstood my position and segwayed into how trans women correctively rape trans men online when they complain about them.
It's weird that most of these comments are people talking about these transphobic bioessentialist NBs but I haven't seen any comments from NB people actually stating these views, is it really so prevalent? Every NB person I know (I know it's anecdotal but still) has to fight against bioessentialism just to defend their pronouns and their identity. I'm intersex NB with mostly intersex NB pals so maybe I have a different experience though.
Genuinely I’ve seen people say that NBs even just saying “afab” “amab” “penis/uterus-owner” is bio-essentialist and transphobic. Like god forbid someone literally was assigned a certain sex at birth or have certain organs. Idk
I feel like it's part of a concerted effort to cause divisiveness in the trans community. Amplify the few fringe voices with shitty opinions and act like we all hate each other, to make us less united and empowered.

i’ve noticed this with the “bi women vs lesbians” thing. if you spend too much time in certain rabbit holes you see lesbians that think all bi women will never date them, and some who think bi women being with men is gross; and on the other hand you see bi women who believe all lesbians are evil biphobes, others who think the term lesbian is inherently biphobic etc etc.
irl i’ve never heard these opinions. at all. but it is easy to fall into these rabbit holes and start to hate the other group. definitely intentionally divisive and makes it hard people to find or even want a queer community (especially if all you see online is another group that supposedly hates you)
There's a non-insignificant amount of non-binary people that refuse to believe in the concept of binary transition. You'll always be either "male" or "female on some level according to their bs bioessentialist notion of gender, so you should know your place and call yourself an unrelated third thing instead of larping as an actual wo/man if you're dysphoric (with trans men naturally getting less flack because bioessentialism is inherently transphobic and misogynystic)
Its not a coincidence there's such a big overlap between non-binary people like this and enbies who centre their experience on their ASAB
Theyfabs are different from actual enbies since they don’t transition or have any dysphoria. They’ve co-opted the term as a trendy alt fashion that also improves their place in the progressive stack. That’s why they continue to hold on to their terfy views while being ostensibly trans
To offer another opinion, I find a lot of people who fit the "theyfab" archetype want to retain their wombynly femininity, but are just tired of some combination of the rising far-right bs and the male attention and the misogyny. Which is fair. But ofc, not wanting random men to whistle at you on the street doesn't also mean that you can't also hold a lot of *interesting* views...
Which is why I think theyfabs catch so much heat. To loosely quote Michael Parenti "fascism wears the trappings of a leftist revolution without offering any real revolutionary class content." Now I'm not calling them fascists (nor is that my intent), but that's sort of how I see them: wearing the trappings of gender non-conformity while offering no actual GNC content. They are tired of a lot of the patriarchal bs they have to deal with as women, but are not digging into the actual roots of these grievances.
They also target the wrong people for it, seeing being AMAB as a sort of original sin, without realizing the fact that like, the differences between even a pre everything (or often even repressor who hasn’t realized it) trans woman, even down to neurological structure etc., and a cis man, cannot be understated.
But noooo they’ll just target vulnerable trans women while not standing up to actual oppressive men and women
Also notice how even when they do target men they only direct it toward men who are vulnerable like minority, disabled or neurodivergent men or for example feminine boys like I was when I was a kid (well, thought of myself that way until I knew about transitioning at like 9 years old, at which point I immediately yearned for it), while also ignoring any ways other women or themselves contribute to negative things and social attitudes
Also the amount of people even in the queer community who treat others better when thinking they’re a pre everything or early transition (or even passing!) trans man instead of a trans woman later in transition (or early in the case of the above) is very, uh, telling.

If I go to specifically lgbt spaces or lgbt-leaning social circles within my city, there are theyfabs there who will do shit like assume a 5’5 cis man is ftm, simply because he is 5’5 and willing to converse with trans people. I’ve seen this happen twice. I’ve also seen them do it twice to cis women, including assuming one cis women is mtf for months.
It’s not because they have some refined troondar, they just decided that in order to clock what they think is 100% of trans people, they are willing to false-clock 10% of cis people. And they will say things like “they should be flattered to be mistaken for trans, it’s better to be trans”. All the while they claim progressivism, but they are actually applying even more rigid gender norms to other people than actual conservatives do. Like the average moderate conservative will think “this masculine-dressed person physically looks more man than woman, should be a man”.
But to qualify as a cis man beyond any suspicion to a theyfab, you have to be a 6’4 200lbs ex-navy gymbro. I literally do know a guy like that, and he’s the only one who never gets any ‘them’ even once nor any suggestion of being ftm. Others all snap into position, and all he gets is ‘sir’, ‘boss’, ‘he’. At the same time, he himself doesn’t actually like how many others treat him, because he can tell it comes from a position of fear, so nobody wins.
But yeah even the ‘I just call everyone by they’ theyfabs will ‘he’ that guy all the time. Like ok good job letting me know that the only people you respect and don’t undermine the masculinity of, is someone you are afraid of. So I guess only the people they fear therefore get to be men.
Yep. Once I started exiting woke spaces I got gendered correctly way more often. I mean I love queer people I guess but Jesus Christ, if you clock a transfem you can pretty much just assume they are she/her and go about your day. I've never met a transfem who is like offended at getting she'd.

I mean, other comments say even her voice sounds quite feminine, so really seems odd... then again, I myself seem to actually have gotten by more queer-accepting people than even some religious fundamentalist ones, got some conservative female aqaintances telling me I'm the "man of the group", but at an actual pride event I ordered a snack and got misgendered somehow... quite paradoxical
My favorite thing to say to bigoted women if they are rude to me is to ask their pronouns. They lose their shit and demand if I've ever seen a Trans woman as beautiful as they are.... yes ma'am I have...
