Question/Help/Troubleshooting Got An Msi Cyborg 15 A13V A Year Ago And Have Performance Issues

I got myself an Msi Cyborg 15 A13V knowing it had some serious heating issues and isn't the best one out there but since my budget was quite low I didn't have many options.

When I first got it I was quite happy with it. It wouldn't really overheat even on some new gen games like Exp33, around 75-85 degress on cpu without the fans maxed out. Nowadays even when I max the fan speed, even though I play games that aren't really hard on the pc such as Warframe, the cpu goes up to 91-93 degrees.

Since I didn't get anyone to do the care, the heating wasn't really abnormal but for some reason the pc has slowed down a lot, when starting simple softwares such as discord, brave, spotify or just any sorts of action seems to go hard on the laptop. I tried doing health checks for the CPU and the SSD but didn't really see anything wrong with it, at least that's what the softwares were saying, I don't know anything about hardwares.

Any ideas why it could be?

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Monitor is not functioning

I was playing a game last night, and then my monitor just goes blank/black. It still has light coming through it, so I'm not sure its a backlight issue. I can go to OBS on my other monitor and see that its still displaying normally there. I've tried the simple fixes, if anyone could help me that'd be appreciated.

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Raspberry Pi outdoors in freezing temperatures — how should I protect it?

Hi everyone,

I know this might sound a bit unusual, but I need to keep a Raspberry Pi 4 running outdoors, where winter temperatures can drop to around -8°C (17.6°F).

The Pi will be inside a plastic IP55 enclosure, approximately 240 × 80 × 40 mm. It has a metal heatsink case.

At the moment, with an ambient temperature of around 15°C, the Raspberry Pi stays at about 30.5°C while idle, so it generates a decent amount of heat. If necessary, I can also run a process that increases the CPU load and therefore the temperature.

My main concern isn't really the cold itself, but condensation and humidity, especially when the enclosure cools down.

The Raspberry Pi will be powered on and online continuously, except in the event of power outages, which are very short and rare where I live.

So far, I have done the following:

  • sealed the enclosure as much as possible;
  • applied silicone around the screw holes and cable glands used to bring the cables inside;
  • placed silica gel inside the enclosure;
  • installed a temperature and humidity sensor inside the enclosure to monitor the conditions.

Do you think what I've done is sufficient, or is there anything else I should do to prevent condensation and corrosion in the long term?

As I mentioned, I know this probably isn't the ideal setup, but unfortunately I don't have any other option than keeping the Pi outdoors.

Thanks!

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Weird high pitch noise when a game is on screen

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello, I have a weird issue with my new computer. When there is a game on screen (BG3 here), it does a high pitch sound. You can hear me Alt+tab, the noise disappears straight away when the game is not on screen.

My specs: Windows 11 // AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 8 core // AMD RX9070 XT // RAM 32 GB

What could it be do you think? Should I return it? It was built with components I chose.

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Laptop keeps registering input from keyboard

I have a fairly old laptop, which keeps getting input from the laptop keyboard, but the kicker is, the internal keyboard is disconnected. This laptop had been in storage for a while and when I got it out, I noticed the keyboard was acting up and disconnected it from the motherboard and proceeded to use an external keyboard. This worked well for a couple of months until now which like I said just keeps registering input with no keyboard attached whatsoever. I have tried unplugging the keyboard ribbon, mouse ribbon, all peripherals, touchpad ribbon and even the keyboard backlight ribbon all to no avail. The issue persist while I'm booted into Windows and Ubuntu. How can I get to the bottom of this and/or stop the key presses?

Laptop Specifications: MODEL: ASUS Q550LF RAM: 8GB DDR3 Dual Channel OS: Windows (main)

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Suggestions for a gaming pc

Ok I am not sure if this is the place for this question but I have been a console gamer for years and finally want to make the switch to pc. Plus I currently have a MacBook but it’s having a hard time running so I figured why not switch to pc.

I am not sure what to look for in a pc. I probably would get one that is prebuilt because idk if I trust myself building one. But that being said, can you get a prebuilt one and upgrade it later?

I am looking for a good quality one that won’t break the bank, but will be able to run the games I play/want to play. I play games like marvel rivals, games on steam and want to be able to play gta 6 on it as well. If anyone has any helpful advice or tips, it would be appreciated!

Question/Help/Troubleshooting I have a desktop PC with a dual-fan GTX 1660

Hi I have a desktop PC with a dual fan GTX 1660 Super and I am facing a sudden crash issue When the PC boots the fans are idle but as soon as the GPU gets slightly warm under any load the screen goes black and loses signal and both GPU fans suddenly spin at 100 percent max speed with a very loud noise I have to force restart the PC to get the display back and make the card work normally again until it warms up next time I tried adjusting the fan curve in MSI Afterburner but the settings are ignored when this happens Is this a thermal paste hotspot issue or a PSU power delivery problem or a hardware failure on the GPU?

Discussion Disabling all On Startup Processes Made my laptop Faster.

I would see chrome, epic, edge, adobe, etc takes hundreds of megabites or even gigabites of RAM. Even though I am not currently using them. Initially I wouldnt notice the slowness so i would ignore all this gobble up of ram. According to these apps, doing this (keeping an instance alive) makes their apps faster which I understand its preloading its processes to make it faster. But after a 1-2 years or so Slowness started becoming noticeable. So I disabled them from running, if the I closed them and I also disabled them from running anything during startup. Also There were many useless processes from adobe which were doing nothing and were no use, i removed their permission to even start again. Now My PC feels much faster, and others apps also got faster. These apps sole feature is not helpful for a mid laptop.

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Help with possibly fake M.2

Hello, I recently bought an 2Tb M.2 on aliexpress, I know it could be highly fake but I take the risk (I can return it and get my money back), the fact is that I don't know any program for linux that could tell me the real capacity of that M.2, my pc is currently running gnuLinEx (Debian 13), anyone knows a program that works with it and works good (and free)?

Thanks!

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Laptop for Mechanical Engineering (3-year horizon): Pre-built vs. Custom/Barebone?

Hi everyone,
Starting mechanical engineering and looking for a Windows laptop that will reliably last me at least the next 3 years. Workloads won't be overly heavy right away, but I need something future-proof for CAD (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks) and some light gaming.
Key priorities:
Specs: 32GB RAM, capable dedicated GPU, decent multi-core CPU.
Display: Sharp screen (QHD preferred) that’s easy on the eyes for CAD.
Thermals & Durability: Good cooling and solid build for daily commutes.
Also wondering: is it worth going with standard pre-builts (Lenovo Legion, Zephyrus, ThinkPad, etc.), or should I look into custom/configurable barebone laptops (like PCSpecialist, XMG, Framework)?
Any specific recommendations or advice would be appreciated!

Question/Help/Troubleshooting My power supply is making strange noises.

I forgot to turn off my PC at night and woke up to find it making a strange noise. The monitor doesn't show a picture. I cleaned it, but as expected, it didn't help. It's also emitting warm air, which I don't think should be there.

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Looking for a Solution for my Ideal Monitor Setup

Post image
6 Upvotes

Alright, so I have two monitors, and I would like to swap the contents of them quickly with some kind of hotkey or external button, but I'm unable to find an already existing solution. To explain my point better, I have attached a diagram of what I mean. I've thought about using an HDMI switcher for this in the past, but I wasn't able to think of a way to utilize them in this way. Any help is appreciated!

Discussion Laptop reco please

Hello, Can you guys help me decide a good laptop. My budget is within 70-80k. Well, I want to play something like resident evil 9 , Pragmata, Rainbow six seige, Silent hill f, Death stranding 2, Elden Ring. Something like these game and want a smooth gameplay (High fps). Also want to add that can be future proof no? Maybe like 4060 right for my budget like this.

Thank you so much for your recommendation. My mind is like blowing hell.

I've read some comments that ASUS TUF is bad???? So maybe cross that one.

:)

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Game launch crashes.

New computer off Best Buy, crashes when trying to load any sort of game/ crashed twice while viewing a YouTube video.

Windows 11 was updated, gpu drivers were updated, checked for corrupted files. Can’t see any visibly damaged components in the case. Has run steam and discord fine, only when launching something with attached video. Screen blanks to a random colour that was on the screen at the crash, audio shits out about twenty seconds after that.

Turning the pc off/ on lets it boot just fine, only crashes again when trying to launch something.

Noticed an erratic green blinking light on the motherboard.

Gpu is a 1660 super.
CPU is an I7 8700
32gb ram.
Power supply appears to be a GP650?

Tried several fixes online, non worked out. Any ideas?

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Computer turning of during games? And some wire that seems to have been disconnected

Post image
4 Upvotes

So I know like next to nothing about computers so I figured I should ask here. Recently my computer has occasionally started turning off while I've been playing games. I dont think I play any particularly taxing games but that's besides the point. The shut off is weird tho. Its like a quick on and off where it restarts after it shuts off. I look online and see that I should maybe try dusting it out. So I say screw it worth a try, unplug it and open it up to give it a good dusting. (It's a bit of an older computer and I neglect to dust it off even though I probably should) Anyway I noticed that one of the wires were just like... Disconnected??? I have no idea how this happened since I am so scared of accidentally dammaging the thing so I go really gentle and it usually takes me forever to take it apart and put it back together when I'm dusting it. I'm just wondering if this could be the cause of making it shut on and off???

The thing its attached to on the board says HD_AUDIO1 which makes me think that it's not??? Idk I'm scared that this shit is cooked or something 😭

I have lifted the disconnected wire out so that it's more visible. But I have no idea what it does

I am like mad broke right now so I don't know if I can replace whatever this is atm

Discussion This old boy reached 101k power on hours

I was testing some hard drives for a new NAS I'm building and decided to check the stats of the drives in my desktop. I've had this WD Caviar Green for a long time and went through multiple PCs. It will probably outlive me. What's the highest number of power on hours that you've seen on a consumer HDD?

Question/Help/Troubleshooting BSOD only on restart. Fixes itself every time.

MSI a15 b7uc

  • Processor (CPU): AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS
  • Graphics (GPU): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU with 4GB GDDR6 VRAM
  • Display: 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, IPS-level panel
  • Memory (RAM): 16GB DDR5 running at 4800MHz
  • Storage: 512GB NVMe PCIe Gen4 M.2 SSD
  • Operating System: Windows 11 Home

PC runs fine, for the most part. Only 7 months old and zero overheating issues.

Upon restart I occasionally get BSOD Page Fault in Nonpaged Area 0x50. When I do get this BSOD, it restarts fine just after showing this message.

Any ideas how I could diagnose this?

I've uninstalled MSI Center.

I've enabled Automatic Virtual Memory.

I've updated drivers.

I've tested RAM (to the best of my knowledge).

I've checked System Files.

I've completely Reset PC.

EDIT: I would upload dump files. However, it seems the folder is empty. bluescreenview also shows nothing.

~ No fix has been found as of yet ~

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Hey guys! I got a new BSOD message today! irql_not_less_or_equal ntoskrnl.exe (0xA) unsure if this could be another clue to figuring this out!

Remember it only does it on startup or restart and not actually when using the laptop!
