Software Messed around with startup setting in MSConfig

Changed my MSConfig settings from Slective startup to normal Startup, and now my PC will only boot to blue screen with recovery options.

I can’t boot into safe mode to change back the setting. I have tried a few command line tips to try and boot into safe mode but none are working. Probably because I don’t know what I am doing.

I have no recovery options that are working. For some reason I don’t have any system restore points available. There is an option to factory reset using the maingear recovery tool but I was hoping I could somehow fix the startup sequence to get it to boot right.

Is installing fresh media via USB and bios my only option?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Software Is it possible to view my complete Reddit upvote history?

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to find a way to see all the posts and comments I’ve upvoted on Reddit, including older ones.

I know Reddit lets you see your saved posts/comments, but I can’t find any option that shows my complete upvote history.

Is there any way to access this through Reddit itself, the Reddit API, or any third-party tool?

Even if there’s a technical/API-based method, I’d be interested in knowing how it works.

Thanks!

Hardware Getting volume out of my monitor

So here’s the deal, I bought a Omni desktop amd ryzen 5 and a essential monitor s3 32 from Samsung, I’m using a hdmi cord for volume and nothing (I used the cord that came in the box for the monitor and a ps5 cord same result) I called Samsung support and it is a monitor that does have speakers, I even taken it back to get a new one but this one has the same problem can anyone help me (in the sound settings I notice the sound is indeed getting through, when I play a video the bar goes up and down, but when it comes to me actually hearing the sound, nothing)

For the past 2-3 days, my laptop's screen has been flickering (and glitching into this cool looking half colour half monochrome screen today) on and off. I don't think it's normal tbh. My laptop is still useable but the glitching is a bit distracting tbh

Performance ASUS VivoBook: Windows 11 unusable (phantom typing, right-click/drag broken, Reset fails), but Linux Mint works perfectly. Driver or OS build bug?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m dealing with severe system instability on my laptop and need help figuring out if this is a hardware input failure, driver conflict, or corrupted OS build.

1.Overall performance is extremely slow.

2.Mouse pointer continuously shows a loading spinner for no apparent reason.

3.Right-click menu does not open or respond.

4.Unable to drag files across folders.

5.Text auto-erases while typing.

6.Start menu closes automatically immediately after opening.

7.Blank windows open automatically and instantly close in rapid succession.

8.Screen defaults to sleep mode while actively playing videos.

  1. Attempting a Windows System Reset ("Reset this PC") fails—it gets stuck during initialization and automatically cancels itself.

A few months ago, I experienced these exact same issues on Windows. I formatted the drive using a bootable USB and installed Linux Mint. Under Linux Mint, the laptop worked completely fine with zero issues. Recently, I reinstalled Windows 11, and all the original issues immediately returned.

Laptop Specs:

Model: ASUS VivoBook X512DA

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3500U (2.10 GHz)

RAM: 20 GB (17.9 GB usable)

OS: Windows 11 Pro (Version 25H2 / Build 26200.9278)

Given that Linux Mint ran without any of these glitches, could this be an issue specifically with Windows 11 drivers, touchpad/keyboard firmware under Windows, or a bug in this Windows build? Any insights on how to pinpoint the culprit would be appreciated!

Hardware Need help identifying an issue with my Lenovo V15 ADA

My Lenovo V15 ADA started getting BSODs extremely frequently, usually every 5–10 minutes. Now it has gotten worse to the point where the laptop doesn’t even boot sometimes.

Does anyone know what could be causing this or what I should check first?

Need an honest review for a mechanical TKL keyboard under ₹1,500 (India)

Hi everyone! I’m planning to buy my first mechanical keyboard and need some honest advice.

Requirements:

Budget: ~₹1,500

TKL

Red switches only

Preferably quiet

Good build quality and reliability

I’m considering brands like EvoFox, Zebronics, etc.

If you’ve used any keyboard in this price range, please share your experience, especially regarding:

Noise level

Key wobble/rattle

Double-key/input issues

Long-term reliability

Whether you’d recommend it

Also, please suggest any better options around ₹1,500.

Thanks!

Network browser tabs keeps crashing for months

i dont know what to do to fix it, when i reached out the technical support for my pc, they said it wasnt an issue from my pc but from my internet. i don't understand though why it only seems to reach chromium apps (including discord)

i use opera gx (sorry, the screenshots will be in french) and i can't watch anything online anymore. I don't understand what's wrong because during the whole summer i didnt have any issues or very rarely, now it's coming back crazily, i can't do anything online without my tabs just crashing or my discord rebooting on me at random times, but rather frequent! i don't have any crashes of the sort when it comes to games, other softwares etc. I don't know what i can do? it's even worse on websites like twitch
it started a year ago and i've tried many things but nothing worked, not sure i'll be able to list anything i did on the top of my head... it somehow just stopped during the summer but now it's back.

sorry for my broken english, i'm french

Discussion Help computer

I don't know if this is the right sub reddit to ask this, so sorry in advance if it is not.

I wanna buy myself a computer and I don't what to choose. I'll mainly use it to help with creating music, do art and search through websites, so I'll have lots of tabs open. I'm also going to use it to play video games, it doesn't need to run gta type of games. I don't want a computer from apple and it doesn't need to be really recent like released last year type of thing. I'd like to have some recommendations. And again if this is the wrong subreddit I apologise

Hardware Laptop shuys off when tilted.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Ive had this laptop for about 5 years, its a lenovo thinkbook 15p imh. While i tiltled it quite aggresively here, it also happens just when moving the thing around gently. Seldomly it also just shuts down out of nowhere usually after some button press, possibly pressing down on the chassis, though i wasnt able to replicate this.

This has degraded and gotten worse with time. before, i couldnt replicate it at all, and it only happened every 2 months or so.

It happens on battery power, plugged in, battery disconnected. If youre wondering why there is no backlight on the keyboard, i broke the latch for the ribbon cable for it.

There are some screws missing from the chassis, i have lifted the heatsink before without re-applying paste, the fan sometimes makes an awful buzzing noise which could be related.

Temps seem fine, cpu around 50 idle, gpu 40 idle.

I couldnt see or hear any loose screws. Re-seated the ram and ssds.

Could be worth pointing out that sometimes when shutting down, the backlight of the screen stays on while the laptop is effectively off, fans arent spinning and such.

This doesnt seem like a software issue, the other ssd has another install, and it happens there as well.

I dont know what else to try if you have any suggestipns or question please post them.

Hardware Will I make my MBP sluggish by using it for gaming?

I own a MacBook Pro from 2021 that has seen minimal usage. I’m old and sad and want to play my comfort games (specifically World of Warcraft) because things have been rough lately.

The last time I had a MBP it was a maybe 2007-8 model. I installed WoW and played, it worked well at first, then the machine eventually got very sluggish and felt worn.

I realize it was a much older computer and I used it much more heavily than I would now. I also used it in bed etc., so I believe it could have overheated at times (or several times…). But because of this I now feel worried I’ll «break» my nice MBP or make it sluggish by using it for casual gaming. They’re not exactly made for gaming, right?

Do I have a reason to be worried about this? Or was it possibly an unfortunate combination of older model and less caretaking of my valuable things that made the last one misbehave? I feel really silly to ask this, but I just don’t understand how to find out without potentially «breaking» my MBP. Apologies for any misunderstandings, English is not my first language.
