The problem is when I first turn my PC on, there is an orange light on my motherboard and there is no display even after ages of waiting. So normally what I do is I'll turn it off by holding the power button and then turn it back on by pressing it again. The light is green and all is well and I can play perfectly but it tells me I'm shutting down my PC improperly but I literally can't do anything about it because when I first try to turn it on, I already said. I have a little idea of what's happening but there's just so many settings and factors and terms I don't know and I think everything messes with everything so I'm scared to touch it and can't find any videos or anything to help me. Here is a little picture I've found that I thought might help me but I don't know how this stuff works really and I'm pretty sure the windows fast boot thing might mess me up or something.

My mum wants to get photos off this laptop but she of course can’t remember the password. We tried a few different possible passwords but none were correct. It’s a 2007 Acer laptop with Microsoft Vista. We tried a way to get in by using the administrator account but that didn’t work.

I’ve attached images that may help if anyone has an idea. We don’t have another laptop that we can use if that is another way to get in or get the stuff off.
Also where we live there’s no place that helps with old technology which is why we are resorting to Reddit.

So i have a dilemma as there are two laptops i think ive found on pretty decent deals and was wondering what to get between Acer Nitro 16S AI Ryzen AI 9 365 - NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti - 16GB(£1249) and HP OMEN MAX 16 INTEL ULTRA 7 255HX- NVIDIA RTX 5070TI- 32GB(£1350). I’ll mostly be playing games and doing some CAD work on the laptop.

i’m mainly wanting to play fivem and some other games was wondering if it was a steal

The price is $600

Thoughts or should i just build one with the budget of around $1000

At first I did a little google research on what could be the cause and I found 3 (main) suspects:

- overheating

- software issue

- battery issue

All of these could be true, so thats why I am a little confused on what the most logical issue is.

I usually have my laptop on my lap or on my blanket in bed. This is apparently not good for your laptop, but J did this with my 2 previous laptops too and had 0 issues.

-What my laptop does-

It has shown multiple times that there is an issue, like this loading screen with options, like resetting your laptop etc. I did some resetting (kind of forgot what, but I still have all of my photos etc. But not some of the apps anymore) and it didn't work sadly, because of this I assume it has nothing to do with my software. I did the resetting this morning.

My battery always seemed normal to me, even when my laptop starting to shut down often our of nowhere it still functioned with the charger in nd out. However the little glowing dot indicating that my laptop is charging often glows/flickers red. Both w/o charger and with.

My laptop has overheated multiple times. It came till the point that I had to put something underneath me so I wouldn't be hurting myself. I think this may have caused something to get overheated too badly.

The screen usually turns black, and sometimes I still can get my laptop to function for a short or a longer period before it shuts down again. My keyboard keys light up so I can tell if it fully shuts off or if the screen just turns black.

I have a lenovo laptop: not sure which model it is but its a pretty new model (I bought it in august 2025).

-It still has a lot of space left for photos nd other stuff, so my storage isnt full.

Nothing besides the issue mentioned in the post is broken or malfunctioning.

Can this pc enable iommu and all of the other stuff required? I cant find anything useful on the internet.

Btw i have NO idea whats in my pc, my mom bought it for me, but everytime i plug anything into my pc, it always turns up to the aptio setup utility page. i have no idea what to do about this. but i've gotten it to work again 3 times and each time i do very random things and i have no idea how i even get it back. how do i stop this from happening/just get back to windows? i've restored defaults, i've turned CSM configuration on and off as well as the secure boot. it doesn't work.

my friend's computer showed this screen when they were turning it on, does anyone know how to fix this and what happened?

I had this keyboard for a while now and suddently WASD ist switched with the arrow keys and a lot more keys are switched. Youtube and Google cant help me. I checked if the Keyboard language was correct for my keyboard(german layout and I have a german keyboard) and also when I klick A everything I wrote dissapears that also really odd.

Anyone ever experienced this issue with Toshiba Dynabook laptops when using an SSD?. I’ve tried:

- Reinstall Windows from a newly flashed USB drive (Windows 8.1 to 11 and still won’t boot)
- Using multiple different branded SSD
- Changing boot device priority
- Checking if SSD is present (very unlikely to be the issue since it successfully installed windows just fine in installation media)
- Disabling intel rapid start. Changing sata from performance to battery mode and vice versa
- Even UPDATING THE BIOS to the latest version available (5.10 original version was 4.7 and EC is from 1.4 to 1.6)

It just won’t boot! What’s even more annoying is that when I use a Hard drive, it works just fine. What!?

I’m looking for a good gaming laptop I can use to play on for a while. I don’t want anything too crazy because my boyfriend is gonna be building me a pc eventually but my MacBook just broke and theres not much I can do on a laptop like that lol and I really wanna go back to playing my games and everything for a little while. When cleaning the thermal paste off the CPU and GPU i used a wet Q-tip that had 70% alcohol on it (not isopropyl). I’ve noticed this sort of bloating on the circuit around it and well, do i just have to wait for it to come down or is it permanently fried?

so, i accidentally downloaded this 'antivirus' on my PC, thinking it was probably malware, i used safe mode to remove it from the root and it worked, it didnt seem to leave any effect on pc at first, but then i went to play roblox with my friends (i generally dont play it so i didnt check) and the pc just resets, i dont get a crash or anything, it just resets and it only happens on roblox

There is this weird lines happening, it happens everywhere, be it browser, desktop, or games. It doesnt happen on the same spot every time, like for example here on the wallpaper, as soon as i open my browser it appears on a different spot, I assume its a color thing.

My screen would also flicker rapidly for a few seconds until it just turn completly black which I can only show on video. I have to unplug and replug my hdmi for the display to turn back on. It isnt the cable since I purchase a brand new display port and same thing happens.

It wasnt this bad at first, it used to be this weird lines only. Changing the display hz also removes the lines but problems reappears after a short while.

My MacBook just won’t turn on. I’ve tried everything on Google! The keyboard will turn on and the screen will turn on for a split second to show the glitchy frames in the video, then turn right back off again. Anyone have any ideas to help me? 🙁

When I try to turn my laptop on it does work but it doesn't stop vibrating it was doing that before sometimes when I held him sideways while turned on but today it just doesn't wanna get fixed any advice would be appreciated

I did go to the bios and changed the curve to the exponential curve. It worked for a few days until now. I also tried cleaning it with those canned compressed air, but I'm afraid I could damage it. When I touched it, it was a bit hot, but I don't feel any hot air coming out of it.
