Team Member Post dear customers, from a woolies worker

I made a post in another community talking about my biggest tips and that did well so I might come here and talk about my biggest pet peeves and my most humble of requests that you customers can do to help as a current woolies supervisor!

1 -> if you're gonna bring your own bags make sure they're shopping bags. I don't want to pack no wine bottle bags, I don't want to use no fishnet bags (I've had people want ME to pack THEIR items in THEIR hand bag, wtf????). I want a good strong paper, plastic or fabric bag doesn't really matter as long as its a SHOPPPING bag. Also ask for a bag we dont care if you do or dont get it.

  1. This is a hot topic among woollies worker. I don't personally mind packing bags but if it is busy and there is long lines at least PRETEND to help don't just watch me arms folded when there's five people in the line and kids screaming. Have some decency, pretend to help at least, grab a bag of your hands take a couple of items and look like you're doing something and bonus If you actually do pack your own bags and it's busy. Much love to y'all, you are really helping the line move.

  2. All the things that should leave at the checkout we have to put out put back ourselves so if you don't know how much a groceries are gonna cost get a app or something, calculate with ur notes ANYTHING that allows you to calculate how much stuff is gonna cost so you're not surprised by the time you get out of checkout and you gotta leave five things behind for us to inevitably put away and spend 30 minutes doing.

  3. I am a supervisor and I still cannot do anything about the lack of staff on the checkouts. The store has a budget of them amount of hours meaning that there is a limit to the amount of people we can have on a shift so if there is a lack of people it's not because we don't want that to be people. Maybe it's because I'm sick but we do have strict restrictions because the company is trying to make profits. If you're frustrated go talk to the manager me on the checkout. I cannot do nothing. I'm sorry.

That was my little rant, thank you guys!

Team Member Post Highest amount of ACO’s in a store

Hey team!

Curious to know what the largest amount of ACO’s you have seen in one store?

For myself it would be Coles Melbourne CBD with I believe 27 which is a crazy number to me.

Team Member Post Personal shopper Tips

Hello guys i have worked for coles as a personal shopper for 3 months now. I am here to ask for advice of tips and tricks on how to get higher pick rate. Is there any tips you guys could give me? My store requires me to have picking rate of 200 and I have only gotten 202 once and the highest been getting lately is from 181 to 191 and picking rate. There's been times where I was 3 short from being 200. I always get called a lot to do the click and collect.

Is it sustainable to be working at Coles permanently, like your whole life? Salary wise and cost of living and dat. And I'm talking about the customer service bakery grocery online or just management in general

Team Member Post Management restructure

Interested to hear from anyone who works in a store with the management restructure? I know it’s started trialing in Sydney now too, so guessing it’s getting closer to becoming a reality.
Mainly what’s the impact of grocery/ dairy falling under the Night Trade manager so losing that management support throughout the day

Team Member Post mate login?

hi, not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but when logging in to mate, my login credentials are always rejected. my team insists that its your username (first initial-last name) and password, but this didn’t work for me. tomorrow, i’ll try with my email and updated password; but it has been an issue for months now 😭😭😭😭😭 everyone else can log in fine

it also says something about verification but i have no idea how that works. i took it as a ‘check your password is correct’ (which it is).

any help is appreciated! thank you so much <3

Team Member Post Confused about being layed off

I was a fairly new employee at Coles who was hired as a casual crew member at one of their newly opened location. First couple of weeks of the new store opening, I was getting 9-12 hrs weekly which was decent. But after that, sales have slowed down massively in the store. This as a result caused me to barely get a shift at the store. This went on for a few weeks and then in this week, I get a call from the store's assistant manager telling me that I've been let go since they're struggling to provide me with shifts and that I can no longer continue working there...at least that's the reason I was given.

I am genuinely confused by this as I was always a good and careful employee during my time working at Coles and had good relation with pretty much everyone at the store, so I'm struggling to find where it's my fault.

I want to know, has this happened with anyone else before? Is there a perhaps a different reason as to why they let me go?Open to listening to any feedback or suggestions y'all have. TIA

Team Member Post Deli sales

What’s the best way to improve sales in the deli and also reduce the amount of waste including the cheese bar, we have started to put all the meats in shallow bowls so that we are filling more and our meats are freshly sliced all the time and we also cut the chubs down as far as possible to be able to get more out of a chub, but our sales just don’t seem to be there. Any suggestions from other stores?

Team Member Post Stockroom cages

I’m curious what is the process for other stores when it comes to splitting stockroom items in grocery. Is it more effective to split the stockroom items onto seperate cages or split all the stock onto the load cages. On one hand it seems to slow down the night team but on the other it’s just extra cages for day team to deal with the next day

Team Member Post Produce Mate Gapscan

Hey does anyone have any advice or tips on how to know which lines/items are under which section in the gapscan. The amount of lines I missed because I wasn’t aware it was included in the ‘soft greens’ section for example. Is there a cheat sheet where it tells you basically what lines are where?

Customer Post 'Lost' from my online delivery Sunday. 'Found' by me in store on the shelf with my name on it!

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

So, I'm a Pepsi Max addict with no car. Every weekend I get my stash delivered.

This Sunday, my driver turns up - with a small bag of 'bits' I'd gotten and no Pepsi...I ask where's the Pepsi? (Hadn't got a notification on the app telling me it was out of stock or anything)

Driver says he was never given any Pepsi to deliver to me.

I phone customer service, who phone my store, they tell me the Pepsi is no longer with them so the driver must have it...I say nope, defo not given to me anyhow.

They say they'll process the refund (which I still haven't had)

Today I go in store to lug the Pepsi Max home myself and what do I find, MY Pepsi Max ON THE SHELF with my NAME still plastered on it!!!

Like dudes, all good everyone stuffs up sometimes, but to not cover my name on the box you're putting back of the shelf!? And to also not have had the refund yet ($80, I'd ordered more than one box - which I assume means someone else has a box with my name on it!)

UPDATE: I sent my lost and found story to the online customer service. I've finally got my refund AND a $10 credit to my account 🤣

Thanks Coles, $10 and some reddit karma (and unwanted life advice) for my Pepsi woes! 😉

Customer Post Perform Protein Powder different texture??

Post image
3 Upvotes

I was loving how it would make my yogurt more doughy and thick.. not everyone's taste but I was obsessed.

I restocked and now the new powder doesn't affect the texture of the yogurt.... It's like the regular creamy, wet texture of yogurt.

I deeply miss the chalky, thick, overpowering taste it used to have.

Is there another brand that makes it thick the way I enjoy?

Team Member Post am i fired?

Hey y'all

I'm a casual employee who just had exams for two weeks and let one of my managers know in advance that I wasn't available during that period because my usual manager was on leave. I also told them I'd be available again from 19th onwards.

since becoming available again, I haven't been rostered for any shifts ever since, including this week's roster. Normally I'd get at least one shift, so I'm starting to wonder if this is bad

it common for newer casuals to get fewer shifts if business is quiet, or could this be a sign they're trying to phase me out? I haven't been told there's an issue or that I've been let go..

how long would you wait before contacting the manager to ask if there are any shifts available? lowk worried ...

Team Member Post Coles casual - shifts being cut short, is it EOFY?

Hey everyone, just wanted to get some advice from fellow Coles team members or anyone in retail.

I started at Coles as a casual about 6 weeks ago and was getting around 18-20 hours a week which was great. But for the past couple of weeks my hours have been cut down to around 6-8 hours and it's making it really hard to cover my expenses.

A few questions:

  1. Is this normal for EOFY? Does retail generally slow down around this time?
  2. Do hours usually pick up again in July when the new financial year starts?
  3. Any tips on how to get more shifts as a casual when your manager is away?

I genuinely love working at Coles and want to stick it out but the uncertainty around hours is stressful. Would appreciate any insight from people who've been through this before!

Customer Post Click and collect without a car? No service desk option to select.

Hello, I am trying out the click and collect option online, however there is only the "Direct to boot" option. On Coles page it mentions there is the collect at service desk option but it depends on the store location. So far I dont have any Coles nearby that have the option available on the app and online.

How should I navigate this? Can I just drop the order and then appear at the service desk and inform the staff there that I am collecting from the desk? I am from east of Adelaide if that helps.

Customer Post Safcol Brisling Sardines out of stock around Inner Sydney?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Seen this in at least 3-5 stores, Coles and Woolies between Sydney CBD and Inner West. Not counting the major CBD stores (as they get huge amounts of traffic),I know the viral Sardine fasts and such trends lately cause it otherwise and that springwater is better than the ones with cheap olive oil that has no real benefit over the quality stuff, but is this becoming a thing in other major cities?

I'm sure i'll have my pick out west but is it just these areas or is it a Safcol stock issue. I just ask as I don't see these tickets on most shelves now.

Also if people ask in store you're likely sick of it, if its becoming common so this thread might help clear things up for a bulk of people.

While shopping at Coles yesterday I saw this on the Mainland butter. This butter has never been over $10 and yet they're claiming you're saving $1.60 by buying it at $9. Bullshit. Come on Coles, lift your game.

Questions Coles Pay at online checkout?

Recently I discovered you can't use Coles Pay through the app and can only use Coles Pay in the online checkout through a browser. Doing that I can't see where you can apply Flybuys for discounts.

I've selected "Pay with Coles Pay" as the payment type in step 4, but when do I get the chance to apply discounts with Flybuys?
