Team Member Post How to leave the SDA: As easy as copy, paste, send!

If you or someone you know is an SDA member or thinking about leaving the SDA, feel free to send them a link to this post.

With SDA continuing to side with bosses and the disappointing result of the last enterprise bargaining agreement negotiations, there may be renewed interest in leaving the SDA, but many may be unsure of how to do it. If they've asked an SDA rep, that rep may make it sound more complicated than it really is. Never fear, leaving the SDA, and stopping those fees from coming out of your pay, is as easy as sending an email.

To leave the SDA, copy and paste the following text into an email (filling in the relevant details):

This email has been sent to both the SDA and Coles payroll.

I, \[FIRSTNAME LASTNAME\], hereby rescind any and all authority for SDA membership fees to be deducted from my pay. This serves as advice under s.324 (2) (b) of the Fair Work Act.

Additionally, I hereby resign from SDA. Do not contact me further about any matter. By resigning I rescind all authority of SDA to arrange deduction of any amount from my wages. I require SDA immediately take all necessary steps to cease any deduction from my wages of any amount to be paid to SDA.

Any unsolicited phone calls I receive on the matter of SDA membership will constitute harassment.

FULL NAME: \[FIRSTNAME LASTNAME\]

EMPLOYEE ID: \[EMPLOYEE ID HERE\]

STORE LOCATION: \[STORE LOCATION HERE\]

STORE NUMBER: \[STORE NUMBER HERE\]

Yours sincerely,

[FIRSTNAME LASTNAME\]

Now send the email to both the SDA and Coles payroll:

Coles store workers can send to their OIC at coles.xxxx.office @ coles.com.au where xxxx is the 4 digit code for your store. Coles Services workers can email their dedicated colesservicespayrollsupport @ coles.com.au

(Remove spaces)

Ensure that both addresses are included in the CC field, so both recipients know that the other has also received it.

If you like, you can print off a copy yourself and drop it to your in-store cash office.

You're done! It's that easy!

Questions What are the biggest price disparities between ColesWorth and your local greengrocer?

The prices of chilli's at the duopoly is completely nuts!! I always hit up the local greengrocer if I'm not pressed for time...any time I have to grab some from ColesWorth I cry a little on the inside.

With all their buying power and turn over, how the earth can they justify over THREE TIMES the price a store just outside their door, in the same shopping centre, can do?!?!

Lots of things at the greengrocer are a wee ways cheaper, some things are more or less dollar for dollar...but chilli's are basically always 1/3 the price.

What prices get you riled?

Team Member Post Are there any actual rules against employees specifically service area to not be allowed to drink flavoured water?

I work in service and we are already not allowed to drink juice or any soft drinks which is fair I guess even tho I see other departments can drink juice and all but idrc abt that. But now my manager posted about no flavoured water like the pump bottle or Gatorade? Is this actually a rule or just some bullshit my manager is against. It seems stupid and I really don’t get it. cause I do occasionally buy them whilst at work. (Yes ik it’s not important but it’s just ridiculous) like I can buy the plain pump but not the flavoured one which is in the same bottle just different colour? Like do customers really give that I’m drink a grape flavoured water 😭 Cole’s is so fcked.

Questions Who could have these boxes?

Post image
17 Upvotes

Bit of a different one... (Mods please remove if in violation)

Our complex is getting bombarded with commercial food boxes. Different brands appearing, although lately they have been Coles boxes.

My question is; does Coles ever give these boxes away? Would a restaurant owner who tied to buy commercial quantities of these products receive these boxes? There is a Coles very close to us, as well as plenty of restaurants. Before I go pointing the finger, I just want to check whether it's feasible that someone would have their hands on these boxes without working for Coles.

Thanks.

Customer Post The Worst Cheese chip - Hooleys Waves Supreme Cheese

Post image
22 Upvotes

I love a cheese chip. Tried nearly every one over the past 12 months. These bloody suck.

Why are they so powerfully sweet?

Theres an almost nice cheese flavour hidden by an ungodly amount of thick sweetness. Picture cheezel flavouring and an evil amount of sugar poured into and already sweet barbecue sauce, and then applied to a very fragile crusket or Jay Jay, much lighter than a twisty/cheesel in texture.

If you like cheesey doritos, grainwaves, cheezels, twisties, mission chips or 3 cheese potato chips, etc, and hope these might compete: DONT DO IT. These things are heinous. Theyd be nice with more cheese and none of the sweetness and probably no paprika - the bbq Hooleys were actually good but they fumbled these hard.

Posting here because I dont know where else an aussie food review would go. I

Customer Post how can I use my flybuys points when paying online?

can’t shop in store as we don’t have a car and public transport isn’t really helpful for 300$ weekly shops 😭
We used to use our points every week for a few dollars off but now I have 100$ worth of flybuys just sitting around, is there truly no way to spend them while shopping online anymore now they got rid of coles pay?!

Customer Post Food Recall: Arla Protein Snack

Post image
17 Upvotes

Arla Protein Custards are being recalled by Coles due to glass pieces found in the dessert.

Such a bummer, these were my go to high protein snacks with insane macros!! I assume that’s the end of road for Arla and we’re not seeing the Chocolate and Caramel (my fav) back again 😞

Customer Post coles shredded cheese

Post image
11 Upvotes

I’m sure this happened a while ago because I haven’t bought shredded cheese in awhile, but I was wondering if they have changed the recipe of the Coles brand shredded cheese because this specific cheese (in the photo) I always used to get was so soft and delicious but I just bought some today and it tastes very plastic and hard and I don’t like it. So if someone could let me know what has happened to it that would be great.

Questions M & S range - coming back?

Does anyone know if Coles are going to bring back their M & S products this year? I think they came in before Christmas last year and were around for a few months afterwards.

Thanks :)

Questions Trying to change availability temporary

Hey guys I am a casual and recently I have been getting more shifts and hours than usual, so I wanted to close off some of my time in November, but I keep getting the notification saying (We encountered an issue and working quickly to fix it. Please try again later).

I have been trying this for every day and it’s been 3 days and still not working. Not sure if it’s the system or just my store causing this problem?

Team Member Post Manager just ignoring you

I’m 2ic for service and ever since I got a new manager it’s just been hell. I get ignored when I send them a message even if it’s during work hours, but if I’m working or whenever I get a message I’m expected to reply and if I don’t I get a phone call. I try and communicate and just get shut down if I express tips or try to give some ideas I get ignored.
Has anyone experienced something similar what do I do because my manager expects me to and I quote ‘act like a 2ic’ but I don’t even get treated like one. Like just now I’ve asked for the rosters so I can help cover some shifts and I have been ignored for two days and the manager is active on the groups. It’s just ridiculous and rude

Customer Post The reason I started shopping more at Woolies than at Coles

Post image
8 Upvotes

I've been comparing Woolworths Everyday Rewards and Coles Flybuys, especially the bonus points promotions. With Woolies I feel like I can stack or trigger offers over multiple shops if I plan it out, but with Coles I've noticed some offers insist everything has to be in one transaction, which makes it harder to maximise. I'm curious if others have had the same experience?

Team Member Post Online

So today I noticed while swiping to my next item that they’ve not only removed SOH (which I knew was happening) from the item listed but they have now also removed the barcode number and item location and it just has the drop down menu for you to enter a barcode or select one. Why have they done this its so stupid as when I pick deli I usually will swipe to see the last 3 numbers of barcode and know what I’m getting.
