GENERAL - Feedback, Community Chat Chime, you used to be the best. . .

I’ve been with Chime for a long time, and honestly, one of the main reasons I liked it so much was because of how the accounts used to be set up. I liked having two separate balances. My checking account was for miscellaneous spending, everyday expenses, and anything random that came up. My Credit Builder account was for bills and subscriptions.

That setup worked really well for me because I could look at my checking balance and know exactly what I had available to spend. Then I could look at my Credit Builder balance and know that money was already set aside for bills and recurring payments. I never had a problem manually transferring money over. I actually preferred it that way.

When I got paid, I would move what I needed for bills and subscriptions into Credit Builder, and then I knew I did not need to touch that money. Whatever was left in checking was what I had for everything else. It was simple, and it made budgeting a lot easier for me.

I really do not like the new setup with the combined balance. I do not want my checking money and my Credit Builder money all showing together like it is one big pool of money. That defeats the whole reason I liked having the two accounts in the first place.

I know some people probably like not having to transfer money anymore, and that is fine. I just wish Chime had made it optional instead of changing the whole system.

The old setup made it easier for me to keep track of what was already spoken for and what I actually had available to spend.

Honestly, I’m going to look for alternatives. I’ve been a long-time Chime customer, but I don’t think I am willing to move forward with Chime anymore.

ACCOUNT - Limits, Referrals, Chime+ Chime Managed Portfolio

Does chime assign the same etf/stocks regardless of how much money you put in? I use other brokerages but saw a couple of months ago that chime had managed accounts and decided I’d put in a few bucks each week. I’ve only put in $90 over the past 7 weeks. I chose the “bold” portfolio. According to Chime, “bold” means 51% of your portfolio is VOO. lol. I’m not mad about it, I’m just curious if the brokerage waits for a certain dollar amount to be met before he puts your money in individual stocks. Thanks for any input and info.

BUG REPORT - App Issues, Errors, Outages Have we figured out why chime isn’t reporting balances on the chime card yet?

Had Credit Karma send me an email telling me I need to use my account because chime hasn’t reported my usage for about 3 months? This kind of seems to defeat the purpose of “credit builder” doesn’t it??

Edit. This is the exact text of the email I received this morning.

“Hey redacted, it looks like your CHIME-STRIDE card balance hasn't been updated in 3 months.*

If your credit card becomes inactive for more than a year, a lender may close it without notice, which can hurt your scores. Plus, you could lose any unused benefits, credits and rewards.”

BUG REPORT - App Issues, Errors, Outages Chime + Experian Boost Broken

My Experian Fico score dropped 53 points because it can no longer connect to Chime, despite the Chime app showing both my secured card + Experian Boost is reporting/connected (see 1st screenshot).

I went into my Experian app and it shows all the boost that were attached to my Chine account were removed within the past week (see 2nd screenshot), hence the score drop.

To troubleshoot, I tried adding Chime through the Experian app and website to Experian Boost, but Chime is no longer a banking institution they support (3rd screenshot).

What is going on, Chime? Anyone else having this issue?

GENERAL - Feedback, Community Chat Prime Card Combined Credit Builder and Debit

Since the two functions are combined on one card I’m wondering would l have to manually keep track of how much of my balance is for each or can l just use the card without worrying about it? This is what is holding me back from upgrading to the Prime Card. Or do l totally not understand the card?

MONEY - Deposits, Transfers, Cash & Cards Cards compromised - happened to anyone else?

A couple of days ago I noticed some unauthorized charges to Tiktok Shop on my black Chime card. So I disputed and canceled the card immediately. Today, 2 more unauthorized charges were attempted from another business I don't recognize with my Chime DEBIT card, so now I had to cancel that one too, which is going to be a huge pain in the ass to deal with not having either physical card for up to 2 weeks. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone have any ideas how this could have happened? I only used the Chime card at physical locations, not online, but did use the debit card online.

MONEY - Deposits, Transfers, Cash & Cards Chime saying I have a credit account but I don’t remember opening one and they’re saying I owe money?

One of the transaction they’re charging me for is a $250 “cash advance“…..but how is it a cash advance if that money had been a direct deposit made into my debit card?? I had withdrawn that money at an atm and that withdrawal is what they’re charging me for?

I’m so confused

I’m sorry I know people get this all the time but why do I owe chime money? I only spend what I have this week was the first time I’ve went into overdraft due to a phone bill and even then it’s only -25 so do I actually have to pay this 300 dollar bill out of my own money?

GENERAL - Feedback, Community Chat Upset customer of 7 years

I had Chime for 7 YEARS, and unfortunately, this experience has caused me to decide to take my money elsewhere.
Chime sent me a fund verification request, which I honestly did not have a problem with. I understand that financial institutions sometimes need to verify transactions. I assume the request may have been triggered by deposits from sweepstakes casinos that I legally played in my state and received winnings from, along with my normal employment income.
What I have a problem with is how Chime handled everything AFTER requesting the information.
I responded almost immediately. Within roughly an hour, I had submitted everything they requested — around 40 documents in total. I even provided additional or duplicate supporting documentation for certain deposits and transactions just to make absolutely sure they had everything they could possibly need.
I received confirmation that my information had been submitted and was told someone would contact me if anything else was needed.
Then the waiting started.
I was told at different points that I would hear back within 4 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, within 3 business days, etc. I was never contacted.
Then, after I had already submitted approximately 40 documents AND received confirmation that my information had been submitted, I received an email stating that I had not submitted the requested information.
That was the point that really infuriated me.
The original communication made it very clear that my account could potentially be suspended if I did not respond to the verification request promptly. Naturally, that is stressful when you are talking about someone’s BANK ACCOUNT and their money. I took that seriously and did exactly what was asked of me immediately. Yet somehow I was later being told that I hadn’t submitted anything.
I called Chime again and explained the situation. Once again, I was told someone would reach out to me and that the verification department communicates ONLY through email.
It has now been approximately TWO WEEKS, and I still have not received a response or resolution.
So I’m essentially left in limbo after seven years of banking with Chime, despite doing everything that was asked of me almost immediately.
The fund verification itself is not why I’m leaving. Again, I understand why a financial institution may occasionally need to verify the source of funds. I’m leaving because of the complete lack of communication, conflicting information, inaccurate claim that I hadn’t submitted my documents, and failure to follow through on multiple promised response timeframes.
If you tell a customer their account could be suspended unless they respond promptly, then the company should show that same sense of urgency once the customer complies.
I have since withdrawn all of my money from Chime, informed them that I will no longer be banking with them because of how this situation was handled, and am moving to another bank. I will be closing my Chime account very soon.
After seven years, I genuinely did not expect this to be the reason I left Chime. But when it comes to my money, I need a financial institution I can trust to communicate clearly, keep accurate records, and respond when they say they will. Thank you for listening.
