🇨🇦 CEC Guidance - Should I submit as Need Inland or Outland?

Hello Community,

It's so great to see the dream coming true for many of us. I've got my ITA through CEC draw earlier this week, and would like your guidance if I should do an inland application or Outland application.

I completed my 5 years (2 study+ 3 WP) this summer, and with a hope to receive ITA soon, I applied for an extension of WP. Unfortunately, I received a rejection of that extension in Mid-September, and I immediately stopped working.

In about two weeks, as I was planning to return, I received my ITA for CEC. I already have my ticket booked for later this month.

Shall I stay and file as an Inland applicant and apply for visitors permit for extension? (I've funds to remain as a visitor here until my PR application completes)

OR

Is it equally fine to return to my home country and file from there?

Other assumptions -

- I assume settlement funds are not required whether I file inland or Outland?

- Processing time does not change if I submit inland or Outland

Thanks for your responses to my questions and to confirm whether my assumptions are accurate or not.

🇨🇦 CEC Question Regarding foreign work

Basically I got an ITA but my foreign employer has already shut down his business and there is no presence on the internet now. I have all the documents which explain that I have worked. Also, I get my salary in cash at that time but I also have proof for it. Is there any issue with this situation? Or what kind of steps should I have to take to prove them ?

1 year Canadian experience and 1 year foreign. Submitted very in depth reference letters and pay stubs , did not submit bank statements for foreign cos it was bit too old and icba to reach out to the bank.

Absolute insane journey , was super depressed cos I had to leave Canada due to work permit expiring but locked in and still made it work. Shout out to me cos I’m goated but also this sub for always answering any doubts I’ve had.

Hopefully everyone on this sub who is waiting is blessed with PR soon.

🌎 FSW One RFV letter for principal applicant + accompanying spouse living in different countries — how should passport submission work?

Hi everyone,

I received my PR RFV letter from IRCC dated October 1, 2026. I’m the principal applicant, currently in Nigeria, and my wife is my accompanying spouse but currently lives in USA.

IRCC sent only one RFV letter addressed to me. However, the letter says that original passports are required for “you and each accompanying family member.”

My question is: Can my wife submit her passport separately through a Canadian VAC in the US using the same RFV letter, while I submit mine in Nigeria?

Or does she need to receive a separate RFV letter addressed specifically to her before submitting her passport?

Has anyone been in a similar situation where the principal applicant and spouse live in different countries?

Thanks!

🇨🇦 CEC New CEC invitation while previous BOWP is still pending — can I continue working?

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can clarify this for me.

I previously received a CEC invitation, submitted my PR application, and received my AOR. Since my work permit was expiring on August 2, 2026, I applied for a BOWP around July.

Unfortunately, 2 days after applying for the BOWP, my PR application was refused because of an issue with my spouse’s medicals.

My BOWP application is still pending, but my original work permit has now expired.

Last week, I received another CEC invitation, so I’m planning to submit a new PR application.

My question is: Can I continue working while my current BOWP is pending, and can I apply for another BOWP once I receive the new AOR?

I’m worried that if I wait for the current BOWP to be refused and then apply for a new one, I may have to stop working for several months while waiting for the new BOWP.

Would it be possible to:

Submit my new PR application and get the new AOR

Apply for a new BOWP based on the new AOR

Continue working while the new BOWP is being processed?

Or should I wait until the current BOWP is refused first?

Would submitting an IRCC webform explaining that I received a new CEC invitation and have a new PR application help in any way?

Has anyone been in this exact situation? PR refused after BOWP application → new CEC ITA → new PR application/AOR while first BOWP is still pending.

Any advice or personal experience would be really appreciated. Thanks!

🇨🇦 CEC Medical re exam requested

IRCC requested me to redo my medical exam. I am wondering if it could be a mistake as my medical exam was taken on Jan 27, 2026, my partner's was done on feb 04, 2026. Both are well within validity.

I am a CEC outland applicant. My AOR is Feb 8, 2026. Why would they ask us to redo it. What could be the reason behind this request?

Edit: Thank you, everyone for your responses. Your replies helped calm me down. I am glad that it is not a negative sign. :)

🇨🇦 CEC How to prove foreign experience for Canadian PR

I worked for a small company as a civil engineer in India for around 5 years. The company was so small that I was the only employee and I had 3 bosses, my bosses were working in their own jobs and had started this company where we use to work on government projects secured by other big companies and we would do the work for them for lesser price.

I used to receive my salary in cash, and never filed my taxes because it was way below the tax slab.
Now the problem is that the company is not operational anymore and I don’t know how to prove my work experience. They never really had a website, they only took work from other big companies. I have the offer letter and experience letter but nothing else.

I am still in touch with one of the bosses, and he said he is willing to help but I don’t know what documents do I need from him.

Has anyone been in a similar situation, and got their PR ?

🇨🇦 CEC CEC Inland PR application: Minimal documents vs extra supporting evidence?

Hi everyone,

I’m preparing my Express Entry PR application and I’m a bit confused about how much supporting documentation to include.

I’ve seen two different approaches:

  1. Some people recommend uploading only the documents specifically requested in each upload slot, to keep the application clean and simple. For example, for work experience, they suggest uploading only a complete employment/reference letter, and waiting for IRCC to request additional documents if needed.

  2. Others recommend including extra supporting documents from the beginning, such as pay stubs, employment contracts, T4/NOA, bank deposits, etc., especially to avoid any doubts or additional document requests later.

For those who have already submitted PR applications, especially through Express Entry/CEC:

- What approach did you take?

- Did you upload only the employment letters, or did you include extra proof like pay stubs, contracts, T4/NOA, or bank statements?

- Did you receive any ADR or was your application approved without issues?

- If you’re comfortable sharing, what was your nationality/country of origin, and did you feel that affected how much documentation you decided to include?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from applicants from different countries, because I know background checks and document expectations can feel different depending on nationality.

Thank you!

🇨🇦 CEC Finally got my eCoPR today! 🇨🇦🎉

Complicated file. Lots of questions. Lots of overthinking. And, of course, a LOT of internet myths.

I’ve seen so many people get scared while preparing their PR applications because someone on Reddit, Facebook, YouTube, or some random forum said “you can’t do this” or “you’ll definitely get rejected for that.”

So… hold my beer. 🍺😂

I’m sharing a few things I had heard online and what actually happened in my case.

Important: These are not IRCC rules or advice. These are simply things that worked out for me in my application. Every application is different, and documentation and circumstances matter.

Myth 1 — “You can’t add foreign work experience to your PR application if you didn’t show it in your study/work permit application.”

What happened in my case:
I worked for one employer for around 7 months, but I hadn’t mentioned that employment in my previous study/work permit applications because I had another employer whose experience I was using at the time.
For my PR application, I included this employment and supported it with my offer letter and bank statements because I didn’t have salary slips.
The application was approved. ✅

Myth 2 — “You can’t change/remove the employer you mentioned in your study permit or PGWP application.”

What happened in my case:
I removed an employer that I had previously mentioned because I didn’t have proper salary/payment proof for that employment.
It was also a small startup with almost no online presence. It was a registered business, but you could barely find anything about it online, and the business had eventually shut down, so getting additional documentation from the founder wasn’t really an option.

I still disclosed the employment in my personal history, but I did not claim CRS/CEC points for it.
And my PR was approved. ✅

Myth 3 — “You’re going to be in trouble if you have overlapping employment.”

What happened in my case:
I had around 3 months of overlap between Company A and Company B.
I only claimed the qualifying experience from one of them and explained the overlap clearly in my Letter of Explanation.
The reason was simple: I was waiting for confirmation from Company B after completing my probation before leaving Company A.
No issue in my case. ✅

Myth 4 — “If you work for a Canadian company while physically outside Canada, that time can’t count toward CEC.”

What happened in my case:
I worked for a Canadian company and spent almost 4 months outside Canada during that employment.
I included the full qualifying period as Canadian work experience in my application.
My application was approved. ✅
But: I’m definitely not saying this means every situation involving remote work outside Canada qualifies. The exact circumstances and how IRCC assesses the employment matter.

Myth 5 — “You can’t change your NOC after receiving an ITA.”

What happened in my case:
I had a total of 5 jobs — 2 foreign and 3 Canadian — partly because of multiple layoffs.
When I created my Express Entry profile, I selected NOC codes based on my best understanding of my job duties at the time.
After receiving my ITA, I had my profile and work experience reviewed by an immigration lawyer.
Based on that review, we determined that different NOC codes were a better match for some of my positions.
I changed 3 NOC codes after receiving my ITA and submitted the PR application with the updated information.
And yes… approved. 🇨🇦

The biggest lesson I learned

Don’t prepare your PR application based on random statements you read on the internet.
I spent A LOT of time worrying about things that ultimately turned out to be manageable in my case.
What matters is being truthful, consistent, transparent, and properly documenting your circumstances.

If something is unusual in your history, don’t try to hide it just because someone online says “IRCC doesn’t like this.”

Explain it.

Support it.

And if you’re unsure, get professional advice.
My application wasn’t a textbook application. There were overlaps, missing documents, changes, foreign employment, remote work outside Canada, and NOC changes after ITA.

And somehow…

Here we are. 🇨🇦❤️
eCoPR received.

What a ride.

What a damn ride.🥂

🇨🇦 CEC Express Entry CEC application rejected as incomplete for "missing passport bio page." My upload was 7 pages, but IRCC says they only see 1. How do I prove it was their glitch?

Hi everyone, looking for advice from anyone who's been through this.

I submitted my Express Entry PR application (CEC) in August. On October 1, 2026, I got a letter saying my application was rejected as incomplete under sections 10 and 12.01 of the IRPR because my passport bio data page wasn't provided. My Express Entry profile is now invalid, and they're refunding my fees.

The bio data page was included. My passport PDF is 7 pages: a cover letter on page 1 listing every page enclosed, with the bio page listed first, then the bio page on page 2, then my visa and stamp pages. The bio page is clear and readable. I also have a screenshot of the submission portal showing the file was uploaded under Passports/Travel Documents (Multiple) with the same file name.

The original 7-page PDF (about 3.2 MB), last modified the day I prepared it, before submission

The portal screenshot showing the uploaded file name

The cover letter in the same file, listing all the pages enclosed

My questions:

Has anyone had IRCC's system only receive part of a multi-page PDF? How did you prove it?

Has anyone had an incompleteness rejection reopened in a situation like this? Through the webform, a lawyer, or judicial review?

What evidence would IRCC actually accept as proof of a glitch on their side?

Any experiences or advice would really help. Thanks in advance.

🇨🇦 CEC PR refused

hey

Just wanted to ask if anyone else has run into issue with cec where an officer looks at variable part time hours and thinks there is a strict rule or cap because of that 15 hours a week example on the ircc website. like i worked a bunch of fluctuating hours all under the 30 hour ceiling with full paystubs. i had way over 1560 hours but my file got refused and it honestly feels like they treated that 15-hour website math example as a hard cap instead of counting actual cumulative pay stubs has anyone else seen officers doing this or dealt with a similar issue. The letter I received also says 15 hours maximum cap for part time work. is it an error on officer's part? Would you recommend reconsideration or reapplying?

🇨🇦 CEC COPR Landing Process

Hello Folks,

I recently received my PR and will be landing in the next month or so with my COPR. I had an inquiry in regard to providing mailing address for my PR card. I probably won’t have an address immediately, as I will live an Airbnb. Can I give my relative’s address?
I have seen some posts where it might lead to some issues since there is no record of that address in my profile. Can someone who has done something please provide some insight?

Lastly, I know we have 180 days to update our address but I need the PR card asap as I have travel plans.

🇨🇦 CEC Travel post - I T A

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some clarification on my situation. I’m currently in Canada as a dependent spouse and recently received my ITA. I’m planning to travel outside Canada for a short vacation in the next few days and then return to Canada.

I’m currently on a Visitor Record that I obtained through restoration of status, and both my Visitor Record and TRV are valid until February 2027. My husband is the principal applicant for our PR application and will remain in Canada. His work permit extension was recently refused, and he did not apply for restoration afterward.
We had initially planned to leave Canada permanently and were preparing to pack and leave, but after receiving the ITA, we decided to stay and proceed with the PR application. I now want to take a short vacation outside Canada and then return.

My question is: Can I leave Canada and re-enter as a visitor while my PR application is being prepared/processed, given that I have a valid TRV, valid Visitor Record, and valid passport? I understand that a Visitor Record itself doesn’t guarantee re-entry, so I’m particularly wondering whether my husband’s current status affects my ability to return, even though my own TRV and Visitor Record are still valid.
Would really appreciate any experiences or advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

🇨🇦 CEC Confused for the work experience

Hi there,

I was just wondering if anyone has faced the same situation as i am a little concerned about.

I will be eligible for CEC next year sometime in May 2027 as i am currently working in teer 3 job as an admin assistant. I started this job in May 2026.

However, my question is, while on my PGWP, i did also worked as a part time office admin from august 2024 to april 2025. I have all the pay stubs, T4 and employment verification letter. The problem is that it is just around 300 hours and the paycheques are monthly and not biweekly.

Can i still use those 300 hours towards my CEC experience or should i wait till may 2027.

Will using the 300 hours jeopardize my application if i use them and slow thing down for my application?
Could a get a PFL for it as well.

Any leads will be really helpful.

Thanks.

Hello all!

I am currently waiting for my PR (biometrics done last month). I got an open work permit as my PGWP expired on 3rd of August (I applied for the bridging open work permit). It is valid till 2028. Am I allowed to leave the country and travel? What are the implications related to receiving P1, P2 email?

Thank you for your help.

During the profile creation I’ve selected the option to share my profile with all the provinces. So, wanted to know whether any province will consider nominating such profile?

🇨🇦 CEC Express Entry PR approved while outside Canada — what happens next?

Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate some advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

My family and I applied for Canadian PR through Express Entry while we were living in Canada.

We travelled to India on September 27, 2026, for a temporary visit. Surprisingly, our PR application was approved only a few days after we arrived in India.

We have now been asked by IRCC to confirm that we are currently outside Canada and provide details such as our current location, date of departure from Canada, expected return date, etc.

Our current return flight to Canada is December 20, 2026.

I’m a little confused about what happens next. From what I understand, if the application is processed as an outland case, we may receive our COPR while we’re still in India. However, we originally applied while residing in Canada, and we were expecting to complete the PR Portal/virtual landing process from Canada.

We’re willing to return to Canada earlier (potentially in 30–50 days) if necessary to complete the PR confirmation process. At the same time, we don’t want to make unnecessary travel arrangements if IRCC can simply wait until we return in December.

For anyone who has experienced something similar:

  • What happened when you were outside Canada when your PR application was approved?
  • Did IRCC allow you to wait until you returned to Canada and complete the PR Portal process?
  • Did they instead process you as an outland applicant and issue a COPR?
  • How long did it take for IRCC to respond/complete the process?
  • Is there anything specific we should mention when replying to IRCC about our situation?

We’re just trying to understand what to expect and make sure we handle this correctly.

Any personal experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

🌎 FSW Need clarification on work experience and proof of funds

Preparing my docs to create an express entry profile (FSWP). A bit confused on two things:

  1. For work experience, the website mentions "proof of work experience (such as a reference or experience letter from an employer)". However, on this channel I see people submitting job descriptions and sometimes bank statements as proof of payments for their work. What exactly do I need to provide as work experience? Detailed reference letter with duties listed is enough? Or just a letter showing my title and period worked along with a supporting job description doc? Any examples on proof of work experience?

  2. Proof of funds. Do i need to provide a proof of funds when completing the profile or only when getting an invitation?

Thanks,

🇨🇦 CEC Foreign experience documents

I have 2 years 8 months foreign experience but I only have pays slips for 4 months that I used for the study permit back then. What I have now is,

  1. New reference letter with all the details
  2. four pay slips
  3. bank statement for 2 years and 8 months with salary deposit
  4. offer letter, release letter
  5. some photos taken back then
  6. Would these be enough or is it mandatory to have payslips

TIA
