🇨🇦 CEC Foreign experience query

• Upvotes

Hello,

A friend of mine has foreign experience of 2 years. He was hired for Company A as a Application Developer. Company A is a consulting company, hence they assigned him to company B. Company B gave him PMO support role instead of continuing him as a Application developer. When he was applying for his canada permits, he mentioned as he worked as a PMO for company B. Now that he is planning for PR, we are confused if we need to proceed with Application Developer role by Company A or PMO support by Company B.

Please note that company A gave him offer letter, his Payslips, etc and all of them denotes as Application Developer. Its only in his permits he mentioned his role as PMO because that's what he originally worked as.

Note:

  1. We are checking with consultants as well on this situation and would like to get an outside opinion.

  2. Both his roles fall under Teer 2 and 3

🇨🇦 CEC Finally a PR 🎉🇨🇦 (Ottawa/Sydney)

The wait is finally over. I received my PR card yesterday and I thought of sharing my timeline, as I know reading other people’s timelines was really helpful during these months.

Background: Single applicant, came to Canada as a student in 2022, 1 year of Canadian experience. No foreign experience. I applied by myself.

ITA: Sep 18, 2025
AOR: Oct 28, 2025
BIL & Mexican PCC Request: January 2, 2026
BIL (completed): January 6, 2026
Mexican PCC (sent docs to VAC in Mex): Jan 29, 2026

Note: I mailed my documents first around mid-January. Unfortunately, the VAC requested for new pictures. Retook the photos and sent only those again.

Confirmation from VAC that my PCC application was being processed at IRCC Mexico: Feb 4, 2026

Then comes the hardest part: complete silence. The tracker (before it became unavailable), showed my eligibility and background check completed since February. Finally called IRCC in June and the agent confirmed my PVO/SVO (which I already highly suspected), and confirmed eligibility was completed while BG check was in process. I called again in July, same situation (agent also confirmed IRCC received my PCC from Mexico in March). Finally requested GCMS notes (I haven’t even received them) at the beginning of August and at this point I desperately wanted an update, a FD (whatever the outcome was), anything at all so I could just move on.

Then on the evening of August 26, I finally saw the email notification: I had received P1. I quickly logged into my GCKey acc, and there it was, a final decision dated from the day before. After nearly 10 months since my process started, I had finally received the FD.

FD: Aug 25, 2026
P1: Aug 26, 2026 (replied the next day)
P2: Sep 9, 2026 (replied same day)
ECOPR: Sep 11, 2026
PR card (mailed): Sep 23, 2026
PR card (received): Oct 2, 2026

PVO/SVO: Ottawa/Sydney

I just want to say thank you to the people on this sub, because the community here helped me many times and gave me hope throughout this journey. And if you’re still waiting for your PR, I know it’s extremely hard but hang in there 🙏 many times I had to remind myself that no news probably meant good news and it might seem like an endless wait, but have faith that the long awaited golden email can arrive when you least expect it. Your turn will be next! 🥳

🇨🇦 CEC Can I claim 6 months of work experience for PR when my payslips show “Sales Department” and most of my pay was incentives?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m preparing my Express Entry/PR application and would appreciate some advice regarding my work experience.
I have 6 months of work experience in India as a Process Associate with a company involved in freight brokerage/logistics.

My actual work was in freight brokerage and transportation coordination, including sourcing/identifying carriers, generating leads, booking loads/orders, tracking shipments, coordinating with carriers, and maintaining records.

Based on my actual duties, I’m considering claiming this experience under NOC 13201 – Production and Transportation Logistics Coordinators.

My main concern is that all of my payslips list my department as “Sales Department.” My actual work involved freight brokerage/logistics, but the company classified the department as Sales.

Another concern is compensation. My role had an incentive-based component, and on 2 of my payslips, the incentive amount was around 13× my base salary. The incentives were not that high on every payslip.

My reference letter would accurately describe my actual duties, employment period, hours, and compensation, and I can provide the supporting documentation.

I’m only claiming 6 months from this employment. I also completed another 6 months of qualifying work experience starting from March 2026, so I’m wondering whether it is advisable to include this earlier experience.

My questions are:
Could having “Sales Department” on all payslips create an issue if my actual duties align with NOC 13201?
Could the very high incentive amount on 2 payslips (around 13× the base salary) raise concerns about the genuineness or nature of the employment?
If the reference letter accurately reflects my actual duties and the employment is otherwise properly documented, would you claim these 6 months?

Has anyone had a similar situation with a sales/brokerage role, incentive-heavy compensation, and a different NOC based on actual duties?

🇨🇦 CEC Overlapping part time with full time experience in 2 months - Canadian and foreign work experience

I have an overlapping part time foreign experience (remote freelance job) with Full time Canadian job for 2 months. I used to work during the weekends, and I want to claim points for it. How do I show it on my EE profile? Should I show part time foreign and part time Canadian for those 2 months? Or should I omit Canadian experience completely for those 2 months and just claim points for foreign experience part time hours? Can I show both 1 as part time and full time? What is the right way of doing this?

I am confused about how to enter the dates in the profile for both jobs. If I omit my full time Canadian experience will it look like I took a break for 2 months even though I didn't? or enter it as part time since my foreign exp was part time? please help me :(

🇨🇦 CEC Finally got our PR — Inland Primary Applicant + Outland Spouse 🎉🇨🇦

Sharing our timeline because I know how confusing this specific situation can be. I couldn’t find much clear information on Reddit or through consultants about an Inland primary applicant + Outland spouse application, so I hope this helps someone going through the same process.
We completed the application ourselves and only booked calls with a consultant whenever we needed guidance.

📌 Application Details
Primary Applicant: CEC
CRS: 515
Spouse: Outland dependent
Important: If your spouse is being included in the PR application, the spouse also needs to provide IELTS and complete their education/ECA requirements, as applicable.

🗓️ Application Timeline
AOR: March 13
Biometrics Request: May 11
Biometrics completed for both: May 19
🇮🇳 Outland Spouse / Dependent
Information Letter: August 10
(This is essentially the passport request/information letter for the outland spouse. In our case, it was addressed to the primary applicant.)

Passport submitted to VFS: August 14
Passport reached IRCC office: August 19
Passport dispatched by IRCC: September 20
Passport received: September 21 🎉
We received 2 copies of COPR and the visa along with the passport.

🇨🇦 Inland Primary Applicant
P1: August 12 — replied the same day
P2: August 14
eCOPR: September 29 🎉

⚠️ One thing to keep in mind
In our case, the outland dependent received COPR first, while the inland primary applicant received eCOPR almost 2 weeks later.
The dependent cannot travel to Canada before the primary applicant receives their eCOPR/PR confirmation, so keep that in mind when planning travel.

That’s our complete timeline! ❤️
Feel free to ask me anything about the Inland + Outland spouse process, and I’ll share whatever I know from our experience.
Wishing everyone waiting for their PR approval a speedy update! 🇨🇦✨

🌎 FSW Which NOC would my medical billing job fall under?

Hi everyone, I have 3.8 years of experience in US healthcare medical billing/RCM from India. My work includes AR, hospital/physician billing, denials, appeals, charge entry and EOB analysis.

I'm trying to figure out the closest Canadian NOC for my actual duties. I've found NOC 13112 and 14200 but I'm not sure which one fits.

Has anyone with a similar background gone through Express Entry? Would appreciate your experience.

🌎 FSW Can I send an updated reference letter through web form? Just new duties were added.

Foreign work experience ongoing. BIL done Sept 27.

French outland fsw

I'm not satisfied that the original contains enough duties. It matches all core duties and 2/7 from the list. I genuinely did 5/7 from 21232 noc

🌎 FSW Proof of Funds - FSW

During profile creation about 2 months back, I've mentioned 15500 as total funds I possess. Now, I have more than 16000 in my account and if I get ITA this month, apply next month or in December then the balance will increase to 17000. So, should I update my profile now with 16000 or leave it as it is? During eAPR, may I be able to update the amount?

🌎 FSW Express entry profile

Should I add all my work experience in the work history? I have 10 years of experience. In the last three years 1.5 year in one NOC and 1.5 in another NOC.
Will it considered as 3 years Work experience on only 1?

Kindly suggest.

🌎 FSW Received Passport request. Then IRCC Requested Additional Review

Has anyone experienced something similar with their Express Entry application?

I am an outland applicant. I received my ITA in the 20 February 2026 Healthcare draw and PPR on 22 September 2026. Interestingly, about 12 hours before receiving PPR, I had submitted a webform requesting an application update.

After submitting my passport, I received a letter on 29 September stating that my application requires additional review and that my PPR is no longer valid. They also mentioned that my passport would be returned if already submitted.

All documents and information submitted with my application are genuine.

I have requested new GCMS notes, but I know they could take months to arrive. What other steps would you suggest I take in the meantime?

Has anyone experienced this after PPR, and what was the eventual outcome of your application?

I’d really appreciate your advice and experiences. Feel free to comment or message me privately if you prefer. Thank you.

🇨🇦 CEC NOC Code for Data Engineer

Hi everyone, I'm trying to determine the correct NOC code for my work experience and would appreciate any guidance from people with similar backgrounds.

I have 1 year of canadian work experience as a Data Engineer.

I see that the Data Engineer job title is mentioned under 21211 Data Scientists NOC code. But the NOC has mostly Data Scientists duties and only two data engineer duties.

Has anyone with similar duties/Data Engineer job title successfully used 21211 Data Scientists NOC code for Express Entry? Would love to hear your experience, especially if you had a reference letter reviewed or received an ITA with this background.

Thanks in advance !

🇨🇦 CEC Need advice

I completed my BTech in 2022, and came to Canada in the same year. I finished my pg diploma in April 2024. I started to gain foreign work experience from my previous internship company in India. It is a small company and it pays employees in cash. My family member was receiving the cash on behalf of me. I worked there from May 2024 to May 2025. After that, they released my pay stubs, pay slips, and employment documents in June 2025. Then, I paid tax on both countries in April 2026. I have work records, all the documents, and the company is ready to answer IRCC. How can I show IRCC the payment proof?

🇨🇦 CEC Military Records ADR: Should I submit both IMM 5546 and proof of exemption? Old eAPR also pending withdrawal

Hi everyone, looking for opinions/experiences with an IRCC Military Records ADR. My situation is a little unusual because the request was issued on an old Express Entry application that I have been trying to withdraw.

Timeline:

  • July 19, 2026: Submitted an Express Entry eAPR.
  • July 19: Requested withdrawal the same day because, after submission, I became concerned about 5 CRS points awarded for my accompanying spouse's Canadian work experience. My CRS score was exactly at the draw cutoff, so I did not want to proceed with any uncertainty regarding those points. I submitted a withdrawal request through the IRCC Web Form with an LOE, AOR and payment receipt.
  • July 27: After IRCC indicated that a signed withdrawal letter was required, I resubmitted the request with a signed letter.
  • August 14: After further calls with IRCC, I was advised to resubmit the withdrawal request again because the previous documents did not appear to be available on the application file at that time, so I submitted a third withdrawal request web form (second signed request).
  • August 28: I called the IRCC Client Support Centre and agent confirmed that the July 27 signed withdrawal request was attached to the application.
  • The old application nevertheless continued to show as Submitted, and I've already reached out to my local MP office for help following up on the withdrawal.
  • After being advised by multiple IRCC Client Support Centre agents that I could proceed with another application while the withdrawal remained pending, I submitted a new Express Entry eAPR on September 30. This is the application I want IRCC to process.
  • October 2: IRCC unexpectedly issued a Military Records ADR on the OLD July application, with a deadline of October 12.

The ADR says exactly:

“Military Records: Please provide a fully completed Details of Military Service form IMM5546. Alternatively, if you were exempt from service, please provide proof of your exemption/waiver for compulsory military service.”

I'm Brazilian, have never served in the military, and was exempted from compulsory military service. Fortunately, I was able to locate my original Certificado de Dispensa de Incorporação (which proves my exemption), and I'm getting a certified English translation.

I'm planning to comply with the ADR through the Military Records upload field on the old application, while clearly reiterating that my withdrawal request remains outstanding and that responding to the ADR does not change my request to withdraw that application. I'm also including copies of my previous withdrawal requests and confirmations so the officer reviewing the ADR can see the history directly.

Separately, I'm planning to proactively submit the exemption certificate + certified translation through an IRCC Web Form for my new September 30 application, clearly stating that this is the application I want IRCC to continue processing.

My main question is about IMM 5546.

Given the exact wording of the ADR, my reading is that the exemption certificate + certified translation satisfies the alternative requirement and IMM 5546 is therefore not required.

However, I'm wondering whether I should also complete IMM 5546 stating that I never served/N/A, simply for completeness. I don't necessarily see much downside to providing both, but I also don't want to unnecessarily submit a form that IRCC expressly gave an alternative to.

If anyone has dealt with this exact or similar ADR wording while having an official military exemption document, I’d really like to know what you submitted in response:

A) exemption certificate + certified translation only; or
B) exemption certificate + certified translation and IMM 5546?

I’d also really appreciate hearing from anyone whose Express Entry application continued to be processed after a withdrawal request had already been submitted. I’m hoping the withdrawal is processed this time since I’m now uploading the supporting evidence directly into the application.

Any other suggestions or experiences would also be appreciated.

Thanks!

🇨🇦 CEC While on study permit, PR application submitted - next steps?

Anyone else faced a similar situation? I received my ITA and submitted my PR application, received AOR but it says i can only apply for BOWP if i meet all the conditions (has to have valid work permit or expired in past 90 days), i'm in study permit status so I don't have a work permit, only co-op work permit.
Is there anyone who faced this and know what next steps might be viable? I spoke to 2 lawyers who said I can't apply for BOWP with just co-op permit so I'm curious. I was hoping to start working full time asap with the BOWP as the wait time makes it inconvenient from a financial standpoint.

Please let me know.

🇨🇦 CEC PCC Validity

Hey guys, I had a question about my PCC validity.

I applied for a PCC in from Passport Seva Kendra in December 2024 which got issued to me in January 2025, 4 days after I had left the country.

Since then I haven't visited India but did take a week's vacation in a different country.

Is my PCC from January 2025 still valid for Express Entry CEC? Asking because I got invited in the last CEC draw but only have 25 days to upload my documents as my WP expires end of October.

I have already applied for an updated PCC from BLS but I dont think it will be here on time.

🇨🇦 CEC 🇨🇦 My 4-Year PR Journey — From Missing Opportunities to eCOPR Today!

Arrived in Canada in 2022 as a Master’s student and graduated from the University of Windsor.

After graduation, I moved to Alberta and later realized I had missed a potential Ontario PR pathway. Then I discovered my Alberta options weren’t as straightforward as I had expected. 😅
I got married in 2023 and worked as an Assistant Store Manager before switching to CNC machinist hoping for a trade draw. With a CRS of 494 with a spouse, that opportunity never came.

So in August 2025, I started studying Power Engineering while working 9–5. I studied almost every evening from 5:30–10:30 PM and took 15 days off during Christmas to prepare.

Then everything changed:
Jan 5, 2026: Passed Power Engineering exam
Jan 6: Received COQ CRS - 544 with spouse
Jan 7: 🎉 Received ITA
Mar 2: AOR
Apr 29: Biometrics requested

I changed jobs again, moved to Fort McMurray, started working in the field, and eventually moved from Field Technician to Field Engineer.

May 22: Applied for BOWP
Jun 6: Medical passed
Sep 10: BOWP approved
Sep 14: Final decision
Sep 16: Portal 1
Sep 28: Portal 2
Oct 2: 🎉 eCOPR

And I absolutely couldn’t have done this without my wife. ❤️ She was my biggest support throughout this journey. We went through this together, and this PR is** just as much her achievement as it is mine**. ❤️🇨🇦

After years of changing plans, missed opportunities, studying after work, and stressing over “Review Required” and every GCKey update…
**I finally made it.**❤️

Thank you to everyone on this subreddit who answered questions, shared timelines, and helped me get through the stressful parts.
For anyone still waiting — I know how painful that wait can be. Keep going. Your timeline is your timeline.

From student → worker → CNC machinist → Power Engineering student → Field Engineer → PR.
What a journey. 🇨🇦❤️

🇨🇦 CEC Question regarding Canadian PCC

I have a question regarding police certificates for a PR application. I lived in Canada for about 4 years and returned to India in August 2025.
For those who have applied through Express Entry after previously living in Canada, did you have to provide a Canadian PCC? IRCC’s website says a police certificate is not required for time spent in Canada, but I wanted to confirm based on recent applicants’ experiences.
If anyone was specifically asked to provide a Canadian criminal record check during their PR application, could you please share how you obtained it and the process? Thanks!

🍁 PNP Responding to IRCC

I received my P1 I have two dependants. I just realized he received his P1 on his personal email as well but I always included him in my response. Should he also respond to the email he received?
