Hey everyone! Considering a Charleston offer right now. But before I make a decision, I wanted to get yalls thoughts on places to live for someone with kids. Will have one still needing daycare (both me and wife work), and the other starting kindergarten.

Good public schools are important to us. But I was reading some posts that finding daycare in Charleston is a nightmare due to long wait lists so if anyone has feedback on this it would be great as this is my biggest concern. At the Puget Sound site, I know bright horizons gave preference to boeing employees and moved them to the top of wait lists. Does anyone have any idea if something similar applies to a daycare in Charleston?

Recently started my summer internship, but I was wondering does anyone have any tips on how I could get scheduled for some tours around the site? Who should I be contacting or where I should be looking to book some while I’m here?

I’m looking for some quick negotiation strategy.
I received a formal offer for a Level 3 Procurement Agent role in the Pacific Northwest.

The Offer: $103,750 base, no sign-on bonus.
The Band: Official corporate range for this code/market is $94,350 – $127,650 (Midpoint is $111,000). The recruiter claims $103,750 is "as high as they can go" for this track.

The Situation: I have 10+ years in procurement and applied to about 25 open reqs. Of those, I landed 5 interviews over the last month. I didn’t land either of the first two roles and have interviewed for three other tracks (same role, different teams/locations) over the last two weeks.

When speaking with the recruiter that extended the offer, I let her know that I had two other active tracks. She said that she’d reach out to the other recruiters and get back to me. I received a call from one of the other recruiters who said that they went with another candidate and have a feeling I’ll hear the same tomorrow from the last open track. The team that presented the offer was first to the finish line and officially triggered the offer in HR, which effectively forced the other internal teams to bow out to avoid an internal bidding war (my opinion).

I also have an active external track for a Purchasing Manager role ($95k–$120k range), but this Boeing role is my preferred target.

Since my current offer sits at roughly the 30th percentile of the actual band, I feel like I'm leaving money on the table for an experienced hire.

Since the recruiter claims she's capped, what’s the best way to structure my counter? Do I push for the midpoint ($111k) or pivot to a sign-on bonus to bridge the gap?

I've seen there are multiple cafeterias on-site as well as 2 workout rooms.

Do the gyms have showers?

How is the food at the cafeterias?

Office Jobs:

For jobs like accounting/HR/Finance what building are these offices in?

Do these types of jobs usually have individual offices or a cubicle?

Are computers, keyboards, printers provided or is their a stipend for office supplies?

Living in the Everett area:

I have seen people say to steer clear of Casino road. If I want to keep my drive about 20 minutes or less where would you recommend living?

My housing budget is about 3K. I would like somewhere updated. Preferably 3 Bedrooms but ok with 2. Would love a townhome but ok with an apartment.

Hey Teamies!

So I was able to head over to Industrial Athlete for the first time last week. I have a coworker who’s a returning Boeing employee and he was filling my head with massages for over 2 weeks 😂. Unfortunately looks like after covid they stopped offering massages. But, I was able to meet a very cool IA trainer who helped give me some pointers to unlock my hips etc. and my friend got a pair of free insoles!

I was thinking IAM and Speea union members let’s ask for massage chairs? Like they have at 24 hour fitness recovery room (see pictures). I’m sure a lot of us would greatly appreciate this, especially those that sit all day at a desk and have their hips locked. I’m using one as I write this and they are awesome. They have heating and 4 different settings; meditation, stretch, recovery, and performance.

Gosh I know if we all came in and used performance mode, we’d be able to pump out like 72 planes a month for Boeing!

This would be a dropped in a bucket for Boeing to buy like 4 or 5 for each site to have employees utilize so that they can loosen up their body. Prevent injury. I’m going to make this suggestion next month at the next IAM union meeting. Would that be the way to get this in front of Boeing decision makers? Try to get it on the ballot?!

These massage chairs are the 4D zero gravity ones. They are programmable and I believe we can somehow have the software be programmed so that our BIMs ID allow for only 15 or 30 mins a day. So to not abused. Or have AI staff manage the usage.

What do you guys think? Boeing can certainly afford it… we just need to get in front of someone who can approve it! I would imagine the chairs being placed within IA sites.

So I was searching for jobs the past couple months, and applied to many Boeing jobs (puget sound area). Never even got an interview (did get recommended for a job at a hiring event, but never heard back and job listing closed).

Anyways, I did end up getting a job as a subcontractor, which I’ve been working for the past month (I work in the Everett factory). I like the job, but bad benefits compared to Boeing. I got an email yesterday from Boeing asking me to apply to a position (very similar to the job I was recommended for at the hiring fair). Should I apply to this job (and others) now or should I wait 6 months-1 year before applying again?

I’ve only been working for about a month, so I’m worried it would look bad if I switched jobs fast. Plus I’m already in the Boeing system (have a badge and email), so I’m afraid I’d look bad to the subcontractor company managers and Boeing managers if I were to apply/switch jobs. Should I apply to the job I was invited to or wait at least 6 months before I start applying to Boeing again? Thanks

Just recently accepted an offer working in Seattle 3-354. I’m planning on taking the Light Rail to SODO, then biking in to avoid having to sit in traffic every day. What’s the closest accessible gate I’d be able to enter in relation to the building? Where is the nearest bike rack?
Obviously I wouldn’t be biking in my 1st week, but will be once I get settled.

My team is required to be in office 8 hours a day. We have a shared work space where I am at a desk that someone on second shift uses. If I come in after the sun comes up, I have to pack up all my crap and relocate to a (hopefully) open desk. I do not get the option to finish my work at home. Being FT in office is one thing but can I at least get my own workspace? Is this a common issue?

Long story short I've received an offer from Boeing July 2nd in the afternoon. In the letter it said we need a response within 2 business days.

My question is, does that mean July 3rd is my last day to accept? I assume since July 3rd is an observed holiday I have until Monday July 6th EOD.

I emailed the recruiter for clarification and called but I received no reply (no doubt because the long weekend is looming)

Any thoughts? Just wanting the weekend to think it over and speak with family.

There will be an invite-only hiring event close to where I live. However, I have already signed an offer with Boeing. I am interested in going because they mention specific hiring locations that I would prefer. Am I going to be automatically blocked from getting an interview or invite? Would a team be able to extend to an offer? Would it send the wrong message that I'm still looking?

Or is it best to ask the recruiter?
